Send us Fan MailThis Podcast is part of a 10-year project to complete an in-depth, daily study of the entire Bible, chapter by chapter, verse by verse. Episode Notes: A Church Worth Thanking God For. (Ephesians 1: 15-23)When Paul reaches verse 15 of Ephesians 1, something beautiful happens. He pauses. He reflects. And he gives thanks. He gives thanks, not for buildings, not for finance, not for programmes, and not for influence. He gives thanks for people — for their faith in Christ and their love for all God's people. These two qualities, Paul says, are the unmistakable marks of a true church. Not cleverness. Not the charisma of the leader. Not size. Not even success.... But faith and love.Faith in the Lord Jesus — a deep, living trust. And Love for God's people, a practical, sacrificial affection.Because Paul knows something we often forget. That you cannot love Christ without loving people, you cannot love people without being involved with them. You cannot grow in faith without other Christian believers.Support the showThis podcast is not associated with the Bible Project YouTube channel or any other associated podcasts that use the name 'Bible Project'. Joseph combed the job listings frustratedly. Previous jobs as a waiter had paid well, but regular weekend shifts typical of the restaurant industry made it hard for him as a new believer in Jesus to attend church regularly. “Why doesn’t God answer my prayer?” he lamented. “Wouldn’t He want me to attend church?” It took a year before Joseph saw that he had to adjust his expectations and try a different industry where he finally found a job with regular weekday shifts. Thanking God, he realized how the long wait had made him more mature in making decisions. This job change process had also taught Joseph what it means to persevere in life and trust in God to reveal His plans in His time. That’s what James told a church facing trials. Encouraging them not to give up, he said: “Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete” (James 1:4). The process of asking God for wisdom, waiting, and standing firm (vv. 5-6) would not only nurture their patience and trust in God, but also help them grow in maturity as they learned more about themselves and God. Waiting for God’s answer can be tough, but it makes us more mature and steadfast, strengthens our faith, and gives us a deeper understanding of what it means to trust God.

A Word With You
Two Words That Lighten the Load - #10189 - #51799

A Word With You

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 29, 2026 Transcription Available

It's amazing what a difference two words can make. For example if you're a teenager, your life can change dramatically when you hear just two words, "You're grounded!" Or if you're working, "You're fired." Or those two words that changed my life forever. You know what those two words were? "I do." It's amazing what two words can do. Now, if you're in a down time right now, there are two words that can make all the difference to you. And then there are two words you may not feel like saying at all. I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "Two Words That Lighten the Load." Our word for today from the Word of God, 1 Thessalonians 5:18. For those of us who are wondering what God's will is right now, here it is. "Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." Paul says here that the giving of thanks in all circumstances is really tied to our destiny in being in the center of God's will. I think that the suggestion here is that two of the most powerful words we can speak are "Thank you." Or more precisely, "Thank God." We all know that we like to be thanked, and we all know how it feels to do a lot for someone and never get a thank you. Right? Of course God is an expert in that field. But when you say, "Thank God," that's when I think it does more for you than it does for Him, especially if you're in a time in your life when you don't feel like saying thanks, because the specific present circumstances aren't very pleasant. There are a few benefits, I think, that come from saying those two powerful words, "Thank God!" First of all - contentment. Even in the midst of an ugly situation like Paul being in prison, you can find contentment by saying the words, "Thank you." Paul certainly knew about that when he wrote the book of Philippians 4. Remember what he said? "The peace of God that passes all understanding will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus." He had experience to write that. And then he says in verse 6, "In everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." Say, "Thank God" and a marvelous sense of contentment will come over you, even in one of life's prisons. The secret of contentment in a crummy situation - a terrible situation - is to focus on the Lord - the good things that He has been doing in the middle of the bad. It means focusing on what you have, not what you don't have. Thank God! The second thing that it does is you don't need to be noticed. See, pride gets stamped out at the gate when you give credit where credit is due and is properly given to God right away. "God, I know this was You. Thank You." When you start to take the glory for what God has done, stop. Send it up to God, "Thank God." Don't let your ego start to inflate. The third benefit of thanking God is confidence. Because, you see, the same God who blessed your life in the past, who brought you through other things in the past, is going to meet you today. Look at His track record. Look at His history. The same God who I just thanked for moving a mountain yesterday, He is going to move mountains again for you. He'll do it all again! He's done it all these years for all His people. He's the same yesterday. He's the same today. He's the same forever. He's going to meet your needs today. Rejoicing is really the habit of looking for God at work and acknowledging it when you see it. Thanking God is sort of like putting sweetener in a bitter drink. Negative thoughts are just going to make the drink that much more bitter. A thankful heart, a joyful heart, a heart that believes that God has said, "I know the plans I have for you. They are for good and not for evil; to give you a future and a hope." In the midst of this small dot in your life, look at the big picture and say, "Thank You, Lord."

Learn the importance of daily spiritual fueling and cleaning out the "ash" in your life to keep your light shining brightly.**PART 2: REJOICE ALWAYS (Josh Blankenship)**Josh shares his personal testimony on finding joy and challenges the idol of entertainment and the search for high-dopamine activities that make our daily lives feel "bland." He explores why our joy must be based on unchangeable truth, even in the midst of suffering, using powerful stories of the Apostles and Corrie Ten Boom.***Be sure to follow 614 Church online:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/614_church/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/614church/Website: https://www.614church.orgTo support our ministry, https://614church.org/give/To fill out a contact card so we can stay in touch, click the link below!https://614.churchcenter.com/people/forms/283193Until Everyone Knows Jesus.0:00 Introduction & Sermon Shorts Sunday6:37 The Purpose of Light: Shine in Darkness (Grounded Plane Analogy)10:06 Running on "Just Enough Juice" (The Unplugged Charger Story)16:42 Rejoice Always: Finding Joy in All Circumstances18:26 Your Joy Should Not Be Based on Circumstances20:26 The Idol of Entertainment & The Addiction to Dopamine27:48 Joy in Suffering: Corrie Ten Boom & Thanking God for the Fleas31:03 The Joy That Stands: Based on Unchangeable Truth

Thankfulness unlocks joy, strength, faith, and breakthrough — and Elder Jason Law lays out a biblical roadmap to live full, not drained. In this Guts Sunday Service message, learn how thankfulness leads to God's presence, miracles, and a life of contentment. In this powerful message, Jason teaches:• Why “life is full” is more than being busy — it's gratitude • Thankfulness as the protocol into God's presence (Psalm 100)• How Jesus used thankfulness before multiplying food • The Lazarus story — and how thankfulness preceded the miracle • Why only one leper returned with gratitude (Luke 17)• How thankfulness and faith work together (Sozo vs physical healing)• The chain reaction: Thankfulness → Presence → Joy → Strength → Breakthrough• Why praise is a weapon and how to use it from any season• How coveting steals joy and how contentment restores it• The difference between fullness and busyness• Living thankful in trials, marriage, finances, and future plans• A transparent story of healing, faith, and a literal ankle miracle • Contentment as great wealth (1 Tim 6:6)• How thankfulness protects you from depression and oppression• How giving expresses thankfulness and trust in God• A strong salvation moment about choosing joy and choosing JesusThis week, Pastor Jason challenges us to:Eat the fat. Drink the sweet. Help someone else. Live full. Stay thankful. Living in modern America we have a lot to be thankful for. In the Gospel Parable of the Rich Fool, we are challenged to understand that all the great blessings we have received are from God, not for us but for others. The time has come for us to give thanks to God, not only in words but by allowing God to use us to bless others. The blessings we receive from God are not for us, but for us to bless others.

Garth Heckman The David Alliance TDAgiantSlayer@Gmail.com    You didn't have to love me like you did like you did like you did, but I thank you! ZZ Top     1. **Gratitude Rewires the Brain**   * Neuroscience research shows that practicing gratitude activates the brain's **reward and motivation circuits** (especially the ventromedial prefrontal cortex). * Over time, this strengthens positive neural pathways, making it easier to focus on good things instead of negative ones. * In essence, thankfulness literally reshapes the brain toward optimism and resilience.   2. **Boosts Physical Health**   * Studies have found that grateful people report **fewer aches and pains**, better sleep, and stronger immune function. * Gratitude lowers stress hormones like cortisol, which in turn reduces inflammation—a root cause of many chronic diseases. * Even writing in a “gratitude journal” has been linked to better long-term physical well-being.   3. **Improves Mental Health**   * Gratitude is strongly linked to **lower rates of depression and anxiety**. * MRI scans show gratitude practice increases activity in brain regions linked to happiness and reduces rumination (the cycle of negative thinking). * Just 5 minutes a day of reflecting on things you're thankful for can boost long-term emotional balance.   ### 4. **Strengthens Relationships**   * Expressing thankfulness increases levels of **oxytocin** (the “bonding hormone”). * Couples, friends, and families who practice gratitude report deeper connection, trust, and satisfaction in their relationships. * From an evolutionary perspective, gratitude fosters cooperation and social bonding, making communities more resilient.   ### 5. **Enhances Resilience and Coping**   * Research after crises (like 9/11 or natural disasters) shows that people who focus on gratitude recover faster emotionally. * Gratitude shifts attention from what is lost to what is still present, fueling **hope and perseverance**. * This makes it a powerful psychological tool in overcoming adversity.   All through scripture God says when I bless you do not forget me and do not forget to thank me. When the lepers were healed and only one came back to thank Jesus… that spoke volumes to Jesus - what did he say to the leper…. Your faith has made you whole… meaning salvation. When we thank God it anchors us back to our source… back to God.  There are so many times I will be using something in my life… a guitar, a car a piece of clothing… that was given to me and It causes me to think back to that person and again say thank you… and I will even text them and say hey “I still use that guitar you gave me. Thank you so much for it”. That guitar anchors me to that person and continues to rewire my brain for faith.  Thanking God on a daily basis anchors me to his goodness, to his kindness, to his provision, to his character and even to his forgiveness. At that moment it invites his presence into an active role in my day. “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights…” (James 1:17) Thanksgiving reminds us that everything we have—life, provision, salvation—comes from God, not ourselves… and God loves it when we thank him and brag on him… trust me, he will get up and close to you to hear that. Take advantage of it.
