#5: Embrace the Cycle of Life and Death. In this episode, we delve into the profound dance between life and death, challenging the conventional fear and discomfort surrounding the latter.
The 8th House is a zone of the self and the chart that is endlessly fascinating, compelling, and zingy for me. Associated with a hodgepodge of seemingly disparate topics over the centuries - taxes, shared resources, death, trauma, intense bonding, the occult, sexual obsessions and compulsions, and mysteries. What unites these is that none are topics we're likely to get into over a casual lunch with someone we don't know well. They represent what is hidden, taboo, and repressed in a culture. And we all have an 8th House. Both my one-on-one containers and my live community spaces tend to be very 8th House. By tapping into the hidden, we bring forth the unconscious for healing, integration, and ultimately transformation. I invited my friend Erin Kelley to come talk about the 8th House because Erin is someone with a significant 8th House assignment: she has Sun & Moon in Libra in the 8th. Depending on the house system she chooses, she has multiple other planets as well. I tend to be very attracted to people with 8th House invitations. They go through a lot of Life-Death-Life cycles and have to continually reinvent themselves and grow stronger every round. This is a quality I respect. My oldest daughter is a Sun-Moon plus 3 other planets 8th House child. Loving and caring for her increases my passion for this realm of astrology. I hope you enjoy this topical focus on a single house - my first time to do this on Moon to Moon! Erin Kelley is an astrologer and intuitive who loves finding beauty and joy in the most unexpected places. A former kundalini yoga and meditation teacher, full spectrum birth worker, and consultative strategist, she believes the book of knowledge is never truly written and has an insatiable curiosity which is continually calling her to adventure and leading her down a number of paths. Erin has studied the nature of invisible things throughout her life and in 2020, she began working on the concept of Slow Magick, which is the practice of slowing down and stepping into sacred time, to deeply connect with Nature and the Land to relax, restore, and reveal the natural self. When not ensconced in enthusiastic communion and conversation with the otherworld realms, you can find Erin and on the internet at https://slowmagick.com. Follow her on Instagram. Her contribution to my upcoming offering Cave Space is titled: "Life After the 8th House: Healing, miracles, and other riches of the unseen realms." Her pre-recorded lecture discusses strategies and practices for working with the “mysterious dark” as an ongoing practice utilizing one's natal chart as a catalyst for co-creation of one's desires. Learn about Cave Space! Upon registration, there's a spot to input your mailing address for your Living the Signs: Scorpio workbook. And if you're one of the first 30 people to register, you receive a free bonus gift: an herbal ritual oil inspire by Pluto and Scorpio from the Witches for Bernie apothecary! The first live session is Wednesday, October 26. There are four total live sessions and the rest is all pre-recorded for you to engage with at your own pace. All recordings will be available in the course site if you can't make it or you find this offering after the lives are complete. +++ Podcast art by Angela George. Podcast music by Jonathan Koe.
The power of life lies in our willingness to witness death. Something must die for something new to come to life. What would it look like for you to allow the birth of something new to happen in your life? In this episode of the Regenerative Mystic Podcast, I speak with Rebecca Wilson, a spiritual midwife with the purpose to support women to birth themselves, their creations, and their legacy. Her first midwife experience was with herself after losing her mom at 19 and not knowing how to navigate the loss of her “home”. Rebecca's journey has been that of death and life, loss and gain, grief and love, and the creation cycle, which is why she's never afraid of speaking about death. We're born through an expression of creation, and in order to thrive in the cycles of life, we must create to be a part of the source we came from. “As something dies, something else is born and as something is born, something has to die or shift.” What lives in your fear of loss? In your fear of death lies your fear of life, it is in being comfortable with death that you become comfortable with life. It is always the moment we say we can't do it anymore that something inside of us surrenders to something greater than our ego. You have the power to create a new reality, and all you have to do is own that power. “Underneath all of the fears that we have, is the fear of our own death, and in that, we have the fear of life.” She explains why you must be willing to allow death to happen for something new to be born into you. Being who you're truly here to be is the greatest gift you can offer anyone. When you're unapologetically yourself, you permit others to be themselves. “To be open to that which wants to pour in, we must be willing to pour out.” The power of showing up as your authentic self and knowing you're enough leads to abundance. How your life unfolds for you allows you to be you, and it's only by being you that you will achieve your power. You need to be yourself for the universe to thrive, and it wouldn't be the same if you didn't exist. Listen in to learn more about the power of showing up as yourself and letting go for new experiences to happen. This week we connect to those on the other side through the channel of our heart. I begin this session with simple breathwork to hone in our presence and call upon those in our lives who have transcended the physical. I take you into the space of communication and connection to all beings. There are words about the importance of our personal relationship with Death (Divinely Enhancing All Truth Here) and how to connect to the Life Death Life cycle throughout our lives. I remind you of the medicine of slowing down and allowing yourself to see the truth of our ever fleeting lives. This listening experience can be done anywhere at anytime but I would suggest lighting a candle, plugging in, and closing the eyes to surrender to the breath, the vibration present, and your guides on the other side.
This week's podcast episode is all about our relationships with both work and rest. As we enter into the end of autumn and the beginning of winter, it's a beautiful time to explore the relationship we have with our own ability to rest. I also explore the connection between mental health/emotional wellness and the season and cycles of nature. In this episode, I share: - The connection between mental wellness and living with greater awareness of the Life-Death-Life cycle of our bodies and the natural world. - The evolution of capitalism and what it means for how we approach both work and rest. - How our relationships with work and productivity have led us to become disconnected from our bodies and our emotions. - How to reclaim rest and give yourself permission to move through the world with a little more ease. -- RESOURCES + LINKS: Read more about and sign up for the waitlist for my new membership program, Wellspring, here: kelseymech.com/wellspring Find the blog post about Caliban and the Witch I mentioned here: kelseymech.com/blog Sign up for my Slow Letters to stay in touch over the darker days here: https://view.flodesk.com/pages/5ec80121685b8d0026ed90ee -- IF YOU ENJOY THE UNRAVELED LIFE PODCAST… I would so appreciate it if you could give it a rating and review! This is a special bonus episode that is the perfect compliment to studying the Life-Death-Life nature of Skeleton Woman! A few years ago we recorded a four part series on the wisdom the bees have to offer us each season. We love how these audios celebrate the life-death-life cycle, which Clarissa Pinkola Estes says is the essence of the Wild Woman. Having recently celebrated the Summer Solstice, we want to share our conversation on what the bees have to teach us about the productive energies of summer. In this episode you will learn about what bees are up to in the summertime and the wisdom and inspiration this has to offer us about expressing our true selves, the importance of self care when life becomes busy and hectic, and more.Try this at home: Listen to the “Inner Hive Meditation for Embracing Stillness” in episode 6Choose one piece of wisdom from the bees that resonated with you and journal about it. Jessica discusses how we use our inner awareness to engage with the parts of ourselves that are non-life-generative or that are part of the death field, aspects that drain us of our life force energy, create resentment, suffering, etc. When we engage with these aspects with curiosity and inquiry we can transform them back through the life/death/life cycle. Happy Samhain! Welcome to November, Wild Souls! To honor the new cycle ahead of us, we have a brand new Monthly Medicine on Tarot for the Wild Soul. Our Monthly Medicine for November is LIFE/DEATH/LIFE. A term coined by Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes, author of Women who Run with the Wolves, Life/Death/Life is a journey of inner transformation and transmutation, the spiral of rebirth. This is the energy and the invitation of the month ahead. The feel of November is very different from that of the past few months. That isn’t to imply that there won’t be huge frequency waves — some of them intense and some of beautiful and expansive — but overall, there has been a shift. We are being invited to connect with our inner Spark, the light within us that reflects the depth of our soul, what literally ignites us and gets us moving in the direction of our dreams. We will travel through a full cycle of change this month, one that will ask us to gather our strength, courage, curiosity and depth. Topics from this episode: • Celebrating Samhain, the Witches New Year: honoring the ancestors + the land and connecting with our own mortality (0:48) • How Scorpio Season fits perfectly into this Life/Death/Life theme: Death card and the Tower card in the Tarot (12:28) • Moving into Sagittarius Season and Temperance (19:03) • Astrology for the month: Samhain on October 31st, Uranus Retrograde in Aries until March 6th 2019, Jupiter moves into Sagittarius on November 8, New Moon in Scorpio on November 7th, Mercury Retrograde in Sagittarius on November 16th, and a Full Moon in Gemini on November 22nd (25:14) • The mantra of the month of November: Life/Death/Life (31:43) Wild Soul Collective Tarot Reading for November (47:38) MEDICINE OF THE MONTH: Page of Wands (47:42) WHAT’S BEING RELEASED: Nine of Cups, Rx (54:49) WHAT’S ON IT’S WAY IN: Two of Cups (56:42) GENTLE MESSAGE FROM DIVINE: Six of Wands (1:00:26) WHAT’S ABOVE: Nine of Pentacles, Rx (1:02:49) WHAT’S BELOW: Strength (1:03:15) Find full show notes for this episode: https://wildsoulpodcast.com/blog/tarot-medicine-november-life-death-life ABOUT THE PODCAST Hosted by intuitive tarot reader, holistic counselor and teacher, Lindsay Mack, Tarot for the Wild Soul is a weaving of deep conversations with folks who use Tarot in their lives, channeled energetic offerings, intuitive readings on the months ahead, and mini Tarot lessons. She made a big statement with her debut EP "Life/Death/Life" last fall, but now the Queen City's own neo-soul artist Lauren Eylise is sharing her "unapologetically feminine and soul-stirring vibes" with an R&B-loving crowd Thursday night at Downtown's Aronoff Center. The songwriter and her band, the Part-Time Lovers, are celebrating Valentine's a day late by opening up The R&B Love Show, featuring Pretty Ricky, Lloyd and J. Holiday. Earning a 15-minute slot opening for these Billboard-charting artists will be one of her most prominent opportunities so far this year, but Lauren Eylise explains it's not the only one of this caliber so far in her career. Alongside local shows at MOTR Pub and the Southgate House Revival, she opened for R&B artists Linkin' Bridge, Raheem DeVaughn and Tank in 2017. Although she's been performing for more than six years, it wasn't until September 2017 that she released her first EP. Using her ability to translate raw emotion into song, "Life/Death/Life" is Lauren Eylise's interpretation of her own healing. Having learned of the unplanned conception of her son while pursuing her music career in New York City, the singer narrates her journey through the perceived death of her dreams, the life of her child, the end of some relationships and the beginning of her career. Each of "Life/Death/Life's" seven tracks draws from loves lost, lessons learned, plans diverted, black womanhood and the natural relationship between loss and gain. "While I am excited to share this project with you, I must admit, it is for me," she wrote on her blog in August 2017. "This project is from me, to me, for me. It is a mirror for me to look on and within myself for healing and the reminder of all I’ve made it through and all that I am. I hope it can be a mirror for others as well." Lauren Eylise's witty lyricism gives off the matter-of-fact tone of Lauryn Hill and the unapologetic savagery of SZA’s "CTRL" layered with vulnerability that is purely her own. While the EP is an ode to Lauren Eylise’s own personhood, she hopes any woman can pick it up and see herself. But with blatantly transparent lines sung in a sultry voice to her own guitar strumming, not only women and R&B fans will find themselves identifying with the themes of "Life/Death/Life." This is an album for us all. Set list: Loud Afternoon (Part II) Petals - interview - Peaks and Vallies Part-Time Lover
Lindsay flies solo in this Soul Tarot Lesson episode, where she goes deep into the theory of the Three Lines of the Major Arcana, and how they directly relate to the Life/Death/Rebirth cycles we move through in our everyday lives. Are we in a caterpillar phase, a cocoon phase, or a butterfly phase? Asking these questions can help us get a sense of where we are in our growth. When we consider the Three Lines of the Majors through the lens of the rebirth cycle, it can provide us with a very powerful and transformative mirror for our evolutionary process. In this episode: • A word about the juiciness of Venus in Scorpio! How to lean into this time, embracing the shadow and practice non judgement with our desires (0:33) • How Scorpio season reminds us of the spiralic nature of the life/death/life cycles of our existence (11:37) • The Three Lines of the Major Arcana through the lens of life/death/life (14:13) • The first line of the Major Arcana—birth, identity, ego: The Magician to The Chariot (23:49) • The second line of the Major Arcana—death + contraction: Strength/Justice to Temperance (35:45) • The third line of the Major Arcana—rebirth: The Devil to The World (48:09) • How we can use this around the upcoming New Moon in Scorpio (1:05:10) Find full show notes for this episode: https://wildsoulpodcast.com/blog/tarot-major-arcana ABOUT THE PODCAST Hosted by intuitive tarot reader, holistic counselor and teacher, Lindsay Mack, Tarot for the Wild Soul is a weaving of deep conversations with folks who use Tarot in their lives, channeled energetic offerings, intuitive readings on the months ahead, and mini Tarot lessons. Jesus said “It is finished†Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. JOHN 19:30 Prayer: Lord Jesus, We thank you for dying for us and for showing us that death is the beginning of a new life in heaven with you. Bless those we love that have died …(names). Tell them we love them…..
The raising of Lazarus is one of the most often told of Jesus miracles. How amazing for Jesus to have resurrected a man who had been in the grave for four days! But what is possibly more amazing and the point of Johnâs telling of this miracle is Christ willingness to bolding move towards the cross. Bethany was just 1.7 miles from Jerusalem and as John 11 and 12 make clear Jesus returning to this region and raising Lazarus was the last straw for the Jewish authorities that wanted to kill him. If you have any doubts about how faithful Jesus is, a fresh look at this passage will take them away.
