The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon him. Luke 2:39–40 Today we honor family life in general by pausing to ponder the particular and beautiful hidden life within the home of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. In many ways, their daily life together would have been very similar to other families at that time. But in other ways, their life together is entirely unique and provides us with a perfect model for all families.By God's providence and design, the family life of Jesus, Mary and Joseph was spoken of in the Scripture very little. We read of the birth of Jesus, the presentation in the Temple, the flight into Egypt and the finding of Jesus in the Temple at age twelve. But other than these stories of their life together, we know very little. The line from today's Gospel quoted above does, however, give us some insight worth pondering. First, we see that this family “fulfilled all the prescriptions of the law of the Lord…” Though this is in reference to Jesus being presented in the Temple, it should also be understood to apply to all aspects of their life together. Family life, just like our individual lives, must be ordered by the laws of our Lord. The primary law of the Lord regarding family life is that it must share in the very unity and “communion of love” found in the life of the Most Holy Trinity. Each person of the Holy Trinity has perfect respect for the other, gives selflessly to each other without reserve, and receives each person in their totality. It is their love that makes them one and enables them to act together in perfect harmony as a communion of divine Persons. Though Saint Joseph was not immaculate in his nature, the perfection of love did live in his divine Son and in his immaculate wife. This overwhelming gift of their perfect love would have daily drawn him into the perfection of their lives.Ponder your own closest relationships today. If you are blessed with a close family, ponder them. If not, ponder the persons put into your life who you are called to love with familial love. Who are you to be there for in good times and in bad? Who are you to sacrifice your life for without reserve? Who are you to offer respect, compassion, time, energy, mercy, generosity and every other virtue? And how well do you fulfill this duty of love? Reflect, today, upon the fact that God wants you to share in a communion of life, not only with the Most Holy Trinity but also with those around you, especially your family. Try to ponder the hidden life of Jesus, Mary and Joseph and seek to make their family relationship the model for how you love others. May their perfect communion of love be a model for us all. Lord, draw me into the life, love and communion that You lived with Your Immaculate Mother and Saint Joseph. I offer You myself, my family and all those to whom I am called to love with a special love. May I imitate Your family love and life in all my relationships. Help me to know how to change and grow so that I may more fully share in Your family life. Jesus, I trust in You. Source of content: catholic-daily-reflections.comCopyright © 2024 My Catholic Life! Thus saith the LORD- Though they be quiet, and likewise many, yet thus shall they be cut down, when he shall pass through. Though I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more.---Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace- O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows- for the wicked shall no more pass through thee- he is utterly cut off.-

(Acts 6:8-15; Ps.119:1,23-24,26-27,29-30; Jn.6:22-29) “This is the work of God: have faith in the One whom He sent.” It is this faith that moves Stephen; it is this work upon which he sets his heart. And so he was unmoved when “the people, the elders, and the scribes… confronted him, seized him, and led him off to the Sanhedrin” and “brought in false witnesses” against him. Surely the words of our psalm are fulfilled in him as they had been in the Lord: “Though princes meet and talk against me, your servant meditates on your statutes.” Thus it is that throughout his persecution, “Stephen's face seemed like that of an angel” – through it all it is the voice of the Lord to which he listens. And one wonders if the members of the Sanhedrin had not “stared at him [so] intently” because they had seen that face of an angel not long before in the One whom they had crucified, the One who stood before them like a sheep before its shearers. And this one, too, they would sacrifice. “You should not be working for perishable food but for food that remains unto life eternal, food which the Son of Man will give you.” It is this food, which those who persecute him cannot see, that Stephen eats. If he were seeking to get his “fill of the loaves” which satisfy the stomach, he would not suffer the trial upon him, and not in such peace. Only Jesus gives this food, brothers and sisters. It is nourishment the world cannot touch, and to it there is no end. We need eat nothing else to sustain ourselves. “Yes, your decrees are my delight; they are my counselors.” O Lord, what voice can compare with thine own? What word can stand where yours is spoken? For yours is “the way of truth,” and the truth cannot be shaken, cannot be changed over time. It is not subject to the corrupting forces present in our flesh; it is of the spirit. And so, in the Spirit let us be, called before your throne. Though we stand accused before the tribunals of this barren land, may your food be ever within us to sustain us – in your presence ever let us rest. On this unshakable foundation we shall remain, even as the world passes away. ******* O LORD, let us have faith in your Son and your work shall be done in us. YHWH, let us meditate always on you and your wondrous deeds; let us eat of the food of the Spirit that passes not away, that we might come to dwell with you forever. We should not be concerned with the things of the body, with filling our bellies or even with whether we live or die. Like Stephen we should face all persecution with the patience of an angel, knowing you are at our side. And then we shall never die. O LORD, if only it were eternal life upon which our hearts were set, then we would be truly blessed. Then we would have all we need, for then we would have you dwelling in our souls. You are Life itself, dear LORD, and this is what Jesus would give to us. This is what all His disciples preach, for they, too, would share what has been given them. Teach us your ways, dear God; let us walk in your truth. And all wisdom will be ours, and we too will witness to your Holy One.

Hear the word of the LORD, princes of Sodom! Listen to the instruction of our God, people of Gomorrah! Wash yourselves clean! Put away your misdeeds from before my eyes; cease doing evil; learn to do good. Make justice your aim: redress the wronged, hear the orphan’s plea, defend the widow. Come now, let us set things right, says the LORD: Though your sins be like scarlet, they may become white as snow; Though they be crimson red, they may become white as wool. If you are willing, and obey, you shall eat the good things of the land; But if you refuse and resist, the sword shall consume you: for the mouth of the LORD has spoken! (Isaiah 1: 10, 16-20)

When they had fulfilled all the prescriptions of the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth. The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon him. Luke 2:39–40Today we honor family life in general by pausing to ponder the particular and beautiful hidden life within the home of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. In many ways, their daily life together would have been very similar to other families at that time. Who are you to sacrifice your life for without reserve? Who are you to offer respect, compassion, time, energy, mercy, generosity and every other virtue? And how well do you fulfill this duty of love?Reflect, today, upon the fact that God wants you to share in a communion of life, not only with the Most Holy Trinity but also with those around you, especially your family. Since ancient times, clothing has represented the rank, class, or even the exploits of an individual. It is often a reflection of dignity or glory. Think of the uniform worn by a military general decorated with medals and various insignia. His garments communicate respect for his office and accomplishments. In light of this concept, one might ask: “what is the clothing of the Lord? Though we cannot see Him directly, the psalmist points to His creation in this song as a reflection of His glories. Ps 104 joins 103, 105, and 106 in exploring themes from creation through the exodus that magnify the glory of God. Psalm104 is a panoramic view of creation taking in overwhelming displays of God's power and particular attention to detail. His creation compels the author to join David in solemn worship vows opening and closing his meditation by instructing his soul, and those who sing with Him, to “bless the Lord”. Many have noted allusions to the 6 days of creation culminating with expressions of worship fitting for Sabbath day meditations in the sequence of the Psalm. Psalm 104 provides corrective lenses for us during times when it feels like the world is falling apart, seemingly disintegrating under the weight of organized sinfulness. Psalm 104 rebukes the notion that nefarious satanic forces have any ultimate stranglehold on the world. These confessions hold our imaginations accountable that might otherwise run wild speculating what sophisticated evil schemes are behind the chaos of our age. The Psalmist directs us to behold the glory of God displayed in creation which proves His power and confirms His plan for sinners to one day be consumed from the earth on the final day when the wicked are no more!
Nahum Chapter 1 {1:1} The burden of Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite. {1:2} God [is] jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and [is] furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth [wrath] for his enemies. {1:3} The LORD [is] slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit [the wicked:] the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds [are] the dust of his feet. {1:4} He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers: Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languisheth. {1:5} The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein. {1:6} Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him. {1:7} The LORD [is] good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him. {1:8} But with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end of the place thereof, and darkness shall pursue his enemies. {1:9} What do ye imagine against the LORD? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time. {1:10} For while [they be] folden together [as] thorns, and while they are drunken [as] drunkards, they shall be devoured as stubble fully dry. {1:11} There is [one] come out of thee, that imagineth evil against the LORD, a wicked counsellor. {1:12} Thus saith the LORD: Though [they be] quiet, and likewise many, yet thus shall they be cut down, when he shall pass through. Though I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more. {1:13} For now will I break his yoke from off thee, and will burst thy bonds in sunder. {1:14} And the LORD hath given a commandment concerning thee, [that] no more of thy name be sown: out of the house of thy gods will I cut off the graven image and the molten image: I will make thy grave; for thou art vile. {1:15} Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off.
Who is this Jesus? Do we really understand the awesome, splendor of our Lord Jesus? Have we really considered the magnitude of our Lord? Though the whole Bible preaches Jesus, identifies Him as the coming King, one scripture truly encapsulates His identity. To get a revelation of His glory brings us into a place of holy fear and reverence John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. When we make mistakes, God doesn't abandon us. Psalm 37:23-24 tells us, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord… Though he falls, he will not be destroyed; for the Lord will be there to pick him up.” No mistake you make can ever be too great to cancel out God's plan for your life. Let Joel show you that it's time to believe again in this redeeming message. No matter what you've done, if you will shake off guilt and move forward in your thinking and expectations, God will get you to where you're supposed to be. ISRAEL: TIMES AND ACTIONS FOR MILITARY SUCCESS MUSIC / INTRO Israel, HOW do you intend to defeat your enemy when you are supplying them with fuel and shekels? Specifically 100 million Israeli Shekels (ILS) delivered to the West Bank for Hamas in Gaza yesterday. Binyamin Netanyahu and any practical minded leader must assume that your enemy is NOT your friend. Also, any pragmatician who desires to lead Israel – and their Cabinet – must identify times and actions for the following: Iran and nuclear arms; Hamas missile attacks from Gaza; Syrian based centers to attack Israel; and, Economic downturn. The general election February 10, 2009, will depend upon clarity of combined purpose by Cabinet members. It’s past time to be serious. Israel, your enemy has been serious for a long time. Your enemy is driven by a focused objective: to drive Israel off the face of the map and to destroy the Jewish People. GOD HAS THINGS PREPARED AHEAD OF TIME FOR YOUOne time when Yeshua came near to Jerusalem, unto Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount of Olives, he sent forth two of his disciples, and said to them, "Go your way into the village before you, and as soon as you enter into it, you will find a colt tied upon which no one has ever been seated or ridden; loose the colt, and bring him here. And if any man says to you, 'Why are you doing this?' you answer to them, 'The Lord needs him,' and immediately he will send the colt here." (Mark 1:1-3)G-d has things prepared ahead of time for you. Don't worry or be concerned about what you DO NOT KNOW . . . or DO NOT SEE. Just move in FAITH as the Ruach Elohim directs you . . . and say what He directs you to say!If you are serving the Master, when you need it . . . it will be there! MUSIC G-D IS IN THE BUSINESS OF SETTING HIS PEOPLE FREE "I am the LORD your G-d, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their bondmen, and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you go upright." (Torah: Leviticus 26:13)"The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knows them that trust in Him.""What do you imagine against the LORD? (Tanakh: Nahum 1:7, 9, 12, 13, 15) DRAW NEAR TO G-D BEFORE PLANNING BATTLE AND ENGAGING THE BATTLE 1. Spend time MEDITATING G-d's Word so you can LEARN His principles. 2. Spend time PRAYING so you can talk to Him and HEAR from Him.3. Spend time PLANNING so you will know what to IMPLEMENT for Him.4. Spend time BELIEVING so you will know what to RECEIVE from Him. Faith is wonderful … but it's even better when you have a PLAN to go along with your faith! If YOUR PLANS fit into G-D'S PLANS, you will have G-d's faith ... and G-d's faith ALWAYS WORKS! YOUR ENEMY – YOUR GIANT – IS TOO BIG TOO MISS. JUST AIM CORRECTLY Listen to the voice of G-d. Read His Word and LEARN from Him. Pray and HEAR His Spirit. Stop worrying about the giant(s) in front of you: the forces, voices and beings that threaten you and keep you from being creative, productive and powerful. David's brothers THOUGHT the giant, Goliath, was too big to fight. But David THOUGHT the giant was TOO BIG TO MISS! (1 Samuel 17:47) MUSICHow do you SEE your challenges? How do you PERCEIVE them: as obstacles … or as opportunities? When Moses sent the 12 spies into the Promised Land the ten men of fear had a different perspective than the two men of faith, Caleb and Joshua. The men of fear saw the people of the land as giants and themselves as but "grasshoppers in their sight." The 10 spies gave the people of Israel a bad report of the land, which they had spied out, saying, "We are NOT able to go up against this people, for they are stronger than we are." But Caleb said, "Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well ABLE to overcome." (Torah: Numbers 13:30)The Hebrew word "able" used in this passage is "yakol" and means "to have power, or the capacity to prevail or succeed." My wonderful mother many times read me the little children's book about the train going up the hill, pulling a load, and saying "I KNOW I can, I KNOW I can, I KNOW I can!" David succeeded in killing the giant, Goliath, the same way the two men of faith, Caleb and Joshua, succeeded in entering the promise land: because he saw, as they did, obstacles as opportunities for MIRACLES: avenues through which G-d could be glorified! The size of the person is more important than the size of the problem. Who are you on the inside and Whom do you trust!Do NOT focus on the giants … focus on G-d. That's why the enemy lies to you. The devil wants to get your attention away from your Heavenly Father: away from His love for you and His ability to provide for you. Israel: Iran, Syria, Hamas and Hizbollah are NO match for you. MUSIC FOCUS ON G-DThis is why you need to start every day by reading and communicating with G-d in His Holy Word and then in prayer. G-d's thoughts are ABOVE your thoughts … His thoughts are NOT your thoughts."For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways," says the LORD. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts." (Tanakh: Isaiah 55:8-9)This is where it is important to "take off the wraps"! Don't just think "outside the box!" G-d isn't limited to three dimensions, or even to time and space. Just read His Word and LISTEN! Just talk to Him and LISTEN. Just pray in tongues and LISTEN! This is why scripture tells us that our Heavenly Father "is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us." ISRAEL, YOU NEED A MIRACLE, AND IT WILL NOT HAPPEN WITHOUT ACTION BY YOU The Red Sea parted when the Moses lifted up his rod, and when the people went forward. The Jordan River parted when the priests who carried the Ark put their feet into the water. Israel, after you LISTEN to G-d … MOVE … TAKE ACTION … then the LORD will perform MIRACLES for you: real miracles. “And it shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then you shall go out to battle; for God has gone out before you to smite the host of the Philistines.” Your friend,Prince Handley Baruch haba b’Shem Adonai. No matter what you’ve done, if you will shake off guilt and move forward in your thinking and expectations, God will get you to where you’re supposed to be.
