The independent investigation into Greater Grace World Outreach didn't pull punches. It named four leaders who should be removed — the senior pastor, the missions director, the youth pastor, and the youth ministry director. It said the organization couldn't meaningfully reform while they remained in authority. It described a culture of authoritarian control, victim silencing, and institutional self-protection spanning decades. The church published the report on its own website. Then came the reckoning — or what should have been one. What actually happened: a general apology with no specific names attached to specific failures. A roadmap for future transitions with no dates. Some lower-level ordinations pulled. The four named leaders still in place. And when an evangelical financial accountability organization put the church under governance review, Greater Grace resigned rather than complete the process. For the former members who spent years building the case that made this investigation happen — the Millstones, the survivors, the people who risked everything to speak — the response confirmed what they already suspected: the same leadership that created the problem isn't going to fix it.Elita Galvin has been tracking this from before the official investigation existed. Her podcast Looking for Grace has become the running record of Greater Grace's unraveling. Oscar — under a pseudonym, still navigating the trauma twenty years after leaving — brings the human cost of what happens when an institution you trusted refuses to account for what it did to you. This episode covers the investigation's key findings, the institutional response, the IBLP and Duggar parallels, the active lawsuits, and what comes next.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? It started around a campfire. A group of former Greater Grace World Outreach members — calling themselves the Millstones — started comparing stories. What they found was bigger than any of them expected. Allegations spanning decades. What investigators would later describe as patterns consistent with a cover-up. A system allegedly built to silence the people it harmed.Their work led to a Baltimore Banner investigation. That coverage pushed the church to commission an independent review. The resulting 172-page report was devastating — calling for the removal of four top leaders and describing a culture so resistant to accountability that the investigators said meaningful change was impossible under the current leadership. The report is public. Lawsuits are active. A former pastor has been indicted on criminal charges. The church resigned from an evangelical financial accountability organization while under governance review. And the four leaders the report named? Still in their positions, with a vague promise to think about transitions and no timeline.Elita Galvin started her own investigation before any of the official ones existed — launching her podcast work in 2023 and now hosting Looking for Grace as the story continues to develop. Oscar, joining us under a pseudonym, left Greater Grace over twenty years ago and describes the lasting trauma that makes even reading the report a physical ordeal. This final part of our series covers how the wall of silence broke, what the investigation actually found, the striking parallels to the IBLP and Duggar story, and where this fight goes from here.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? "On Millstones & Mustard Seeds" (Luke 17:1-6) by Edgington EPC

Grow in Groups G1 Why does Jesus warn about the seriousness of causing others to stumble or sin (verses 1-2), and how might unforgiveness be a "stumbling block" like the mulberry tree's deep roots? G2 How do verses 3-4 illustrate the balance between rebuking others and forgiving them repeatedly? Why is this process important in uprooting unforgiveness? G3 The disciples ask Jesus to increase their faith (verse 5). What kind of faith do you think is needed to uproot the mulberry bush of unforgiveness in our hearts? G4 Jesus says that faith as small as a mustard seed can command a mulberry tree to be uprooted and planted in the sea (verse 6). How does this image encourage us about the power of even small faith in overcoming deep-seated hurt or bitterness? G5 What role does forgiveness play in the process of removing unforgiveness from our lives, especially when the offenses are repeated G6 Verses 7-10 talk about the attitude of a servant faithfully doing their duty without expecting special thanks. How can this attitude help us when practicing rebuking and forgiveness, especially when it feels thankless or hard? Show Up and Serve S1 How can we practically cultivate the faith and heart posture needed to both lovingly rebuke and consistently forgive, so that we can uproot the mulberry bush of unforgiveness in our relationships?

Sermon preached at Trinity Lutheran Church, Murdock, NE (5 October 2025). Text: Luk 17:1-10
Better to cut off the hand, foot, or eye that causes sin—and to avoid dragging Christ's little ones into stumbling—than to be cast into the unquenchable fire; be pure salt within yourselves and live in peace.

In this powerful first session of Man Talk, hosted by Roy Jones Jr. and Will Hardy (TAWCMM), pastors Lud and Ski share transformative testimonies and deep insights on Godly manhood. Pastor Lud (originally from Vancouver) reflects on: His journey from spiritual drifting to disciplined discipleship in Canada and the U.S. Lessons from Bible schools, Youth for Christ, and family legacy drawn from four generations of faithful men. The vital role of mentorship and passing down faith within the home and church. Pastor Ski (a former Marine and seminary graduate) recounts: Leaving a potential life as a Catholic priest to serve in Vietnam. A life-changing path through business, loss, and eventually, pastoral service in New York. His inspiring catalyst imagery: “bull elephants” and “buffaloes”—older men coming together to protect younger generations. Together, they tackle critical questions: How has the role of men evolved in the church and home over the past decades? Why men need to step off the sidelines and into spiritual leadership. Practical advice on mentorship, discipleship, and legacy. This episode concludes with a heartfelt prayer for courage, commitment, and community.

The disciples report there is someone casting out demons in Jesus' name, and Jesus says whoever is for Him cannot be against him. This spurs our conversation with Sarah Stenson about what it means to be ecumenical: who can Lutherans share the altar and pulpit with? What does it mean to have, “right doctrine?”Sarah explains how right doctrine matters because it reflects Scripture. Right doctrine shows our righteousness is in Christ, not in our self-righteousness or human tradition. We also discuss what it means to be a stumbling block. In this lectionary text, Jesus is being terrifyingly serious: better if you'd be thrown into the sea with a millstone around your neck than to cause someone to stumble. Sarah explains that a stumbling block is something that causes us to sin. The forgiveness of sin, eternal life, salvation itself is at stake! But that's the beauty of this text. When you have Jesus coming out of your mouth, you will be preserved with your faith in Christ. CONFIRMATION Does your church have a confirmation class? Luther House of Study is excited to present a comprehensive online confirmation curriculum. The curriculum includes interactive digital lessons and supplemental teacher guides featuring custom videos, quizzes, drag and drop tasks, discussion questions, scripture passages, and prayers about the Apostles' Creed, the 10 Commandments, the Lord's Prayer, and the Sacraments. Visit lutherhouseofstudy.org/confirmation to dive into the curriculum and share it with your church or your pastor. SING TO THE LORD To understand the importance of hymnody in the Lutheran church, Lars Olson and Mason Van Essen sit down with Zachary Brockhoff to discuss the lectionary's hymns, their meaning and history, and how the music preaches the Gospel.
Jesus clearly taught it would be better to die than to cause a Christian to stumble.

Pastor Kurt and Luke Rock break down this past Sunday's sermon.
We come to a passage laden with violent images. They are often startling to a modern reader. Why would Jesus invoke such pictures, especially when discussing leadership? Jesus surprises - not only with painful words about exclusion, but also thoughts that would have been stunningly inclusive in his context. But why do those kinds of discussions almost always feel violent? Even in our society, where inclusion has become a theme, that topic itself seems ironically to have divided. How do we deal with that as followers of Christ? How could Jesus' words here be good news? Let's talk about “Millstones & Maiming” (Mark 9:33-50).
Our lives are marked by millstones and milestones. Millstones are the times of tragedy, trial, and tough circumstances; milestones are the monumental moments that we celebrate. Part of the job of the Church is to help us turn our millstones into milestones so we can help others do the same -- that's the process of discipleship.
Our lives are marked by millstones and milestones. Millstones are moments of our lives where we have made a tragic mistake. Milestones are those monumental times that something great has happened. When we are discipled by another, they can help our millstones turn into milestones so that we can then help others, expanding the Kingdom of God. Clint Davis, Counselor, Veteran, and minister sits down to talk with Steven Arms, co-author of Milestones to Manhood. Making the leap from boyhood to manhood is the most important transition that a son will make. His happiness, self-confidence, and future marriage all depend on successfully navigating his teenage years. As fathers, we can either sit by as our sons stumble over their own mistakes, or we can lovingly share our experiences with them to help them build lives of purpose and meaning. Steven and his family do a weekend called the “Rite of Passage” this allows healthy and encouraging men to surround a boy at 12-13 and help them transition into manhood. Clint and Steven talk about the implications on society for losing this age old tradition and how we can get it back!
