Send us a Text Message. The case of Zack Bowen and Addie Hall is a chilling example of love gone terribly wrong. In October 2006, the couple, who had been in a seemingly happy relationship, became the center of a horrifying crime in New Orleans. Zack Bowen, a former U.S. Army soldier, brutally murdered his girlfriend, Addie Hall, in their apartment. The crime scene was horrifying: Zack Bowen had not only killed Addie, but also dismembered her body in a gruesome attempt to hide the evidence. Zack then jumped to his death after writing a confession to police. If you feel that you are struggling with PTSD, you don't have to struggle alone. Mental health has increasingly become the topic of discussion in recent years, and while we–as a society–have become better at recognizing the signs of mental health issues, have you ever wondered exactly what they are, how they are treated, and what happens if the tools available to us aren't enough? You might be surprised to hear that–by some estimates–at least 30% of people diagnosed with depression are resistant to the current options we have. That's where our guest, Dr. Charles Nemeroff, and his research on psychedelic compounds come into play. In this episode, you will learn about depression and PTSD, the prevalence of treatment-resistant depression, and the promising research around psilocybin and its future potential as a therapeutic. You can learn more about Dr. Nemeroff's research on his website. Additionally, you can follow Drew & Liv on Instagram @scienceinsociety to stay in the know on upcoming episodes, new content, and their ~nearly~ famous science shenanigans. The National Mental Health Hotline: 1-866-903-3787

We've heard a lot about Danny McNulty, a.k.a Harvey ‘Harley' Keiner, over the past few weeks and we've all been excited to hear the story directly from his mouth. So this week - we're honored to share just that. Danny joins Pod Meets World to fill in the gaps and share everything they never knew. What happened at that fateful table read and why why was he replaced on the show? How similar was Danny to his character and how is he doing now? If there's one thing that stands true about Boy Meets World, it's that the cast will always be connected, and this emotional reunion proves just that. Buckle up for something very special. If you or someone you know has a mental illness, is struggling emotionally, or has concerns about their mental health, call the National Mental Health Hotline at 866-903-3787.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

A national suicide prevention and mental health crisis number will be active starting July 16. Advocates hope the launch of 9-8-8 will make it easier for those in need to get in touch with people who can help, similar to people have learned to call 9-1-1 for emergency situations. But there are concerns not all states are ready. Resources, such as adequate staff, are needed to make sure the system functions as intended. Otherwise, people may be left waiting on hold or their calls shifted out of their area or state.
Listen as we take a deep dive into seven definable motivations of Mass Killers and the events that took place surrounding each location. We discuss the possible warning signs, societal issues and controversial debates with the endless conversation of mass murder events. With the recent mass shooting events, we ask the question...why? A new national mental health hotline will launch in July. Like 911, the hotline will be available by dialing three digits: 988. The idea behind it is to connect people in a mental health crisis to experts trained in how to respond. But many agencies may not be prepared. American Foundation for Suicide Prevention CEO Bob Gebbia joins Stephanie Sy with more. Warning: This segment references suicide. TRIGGER WARNING - this episode discusses highly sensitive topics that may not be appropriate for everyone. Please use discretion before pressing play.Today my friend Carina comes on to talk about maternal mental health. Carina is a mom of two littles, a wife, and dog mom. She likes to share her mental health journey, motherhood, and a little bit of lifestyle in between. She is also a follower of Jesus. In this episode, we discuss stigmas surrounding mental health and things like anxiety, depression, and suicide ideation. As uncomfortable as it may be to discuss, these are very real issues that so many moms are fighting alone. There can be so many mixed emotions surrounding mental health and reaching out for help. We hope this conversation reminds you that you aren't the only one if you find yourself struggling or if you've been there in the past. And there is nothing wrong, bad, or shameful about reaching out for help. Even if you don't relate to any of these struggles, we hope you'll better understand your friend or family member who struggles with mental health. As always, this is not medical advice. We are not medical professionals. We are simply sharing from our own personal experiences. This conversation strictly discusses our journeys and how we found help. If you feel you may be in crisis, please seek help immediately. I know, the title is heavy. It's a lot to take in. But it's the reality SO many moms are facing - most of them in silence or all alone. That's why I think it's so important to share more of my story with the you, so you can better understand where I've been. So you can have context when you hear me share about all the things I do now.I don't come from a place of having it all together all of the time. I come from knowing what it's like to be at the bottom, surrounded by darkness, weighed down with anxiety, and feeling all alone. There is no explicit language, however, I want to give you a warning that this episode does go into more depth on my struggles with mental help and being in crisis mode. Please also be mindful of whether or not hearing these things may be a trigger for you in any way and whether or not you're okay with little ears listening as well.My ultimate hope and prayer is that this reminds you that you aren't alone. And it's okay to reach out for help.
