This week I'm joined by Amy Thomson, an incredibly inspiring entrepreneur and author of the book Moody: A 21st Century Hormone Guide which was published earlier this year. Amy started her first business at age 23 in 2011, a communications company working with brands such as Nike, Microsoft and Diageo. In 2016 after experiencing severe burnout from working long hours and travelling for work, she experienced some changes in her body. As a result of the burnout, Amy's periods stopped but she continued to work, until one day she made the decision to prioritise her health. Later that year, she decided to sell the business and take a break. Whilst on her break she began working on how she could solve the problem of stress impacting women's hormones, health and happiness. This is how Moody Month was born. A tech company that uses data ethically to help women connect with the science of their bodies and personalise the experience for their daily health and wellness needs. You can buy Amy's book here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Moody-Womans-21st-Century-Hormone-Guide/dp/1529110335 You can follow Amy on social: @amytstory @moodymonth and download the app here: https://moodymonth.com/appMy new book, Side Hustle in Progress: A Practical Guide to Kickstarting Your Business is published by HarperCollins and available to buy online and in all book shops.Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Side-Hustle-Progress-Practical-Kickstarting/dp/0008455007Audible: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Side-Hustle-Progress-Practical-Kickstarting/dp/B08NXTC5ZCWaterstones: https://www.waterstones.com/book/side-hustle-in-progress/elizabeth-ogabi/9780008455002You can find us on social: IG: @Forworkingladies @ElizabethOgabi Twitter: @Fwladies @ElizabethOgabi_You can sign up for my newsletter "The Snippet" here. How I Made it Happen is an independent podcast created and hosted by Elizabeth Ogabi and produced by Julie Banks. This week's episode features Amy Thomsom, one of the founders of Moody Month and author of 'Moody', a new book all about hormones! Moody Month is a daily health-tracking app that helps women track their cycles and understand their hormones. My conversation with Amy was so interesting - this is was one my favourite episodes to record! We talked about women's health, the gender gap in medicine and how much more we should understand them instead of shuttering away from words like 'estrogen' If you want to check out Moody Month before diving into the app: @moodymonth on Instagram and moodymonth.com And now, 'Moody' is a book! Where you can deep dive into our hormones shape us and how we can work with them towards a healthier life! Follow me on Instagram @inesmcreates and follow the podcast on Twitter @FeminisedPod

Salena Godden’s Mrs Death Misses Death is receiving rave reviews and has already been snapped up for film and telly by Idris Elba’s Green Door Pictures, so we got Hazel Davis to talk to the poet, author, standup and activist about her oddly prescient debut novel. Meanwhile, Jen fired up the Zoom to chat with Amy Thomson, founder of the Moody Month app and author of Moody: A Woman's 21st Century Hormone Guide. There’s cake AND masturbation, so definitely put the kettle on. Over in Rated or Dated, Mick should absolutely be apologising for her attempts at a Scottish accent and Hannah’s trying to keep it all down as they watch 1996’s Trainspotting. Morally murky? Proper funny? Cool Britannia? All of the above? Ya fuckin’ dancer! Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/standardissuespodcast. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
For the last episode in season 4 of Period Story podcast, I’m so excited for you to hear my conversation with Lola Ross, a fellow nutritionist and the co-founder of the amazing menstrual cycle and mood tracking app, Moody Month. If you haven’t downloaded the app already, I definitely suggest that you check it out!Lola and I talked about her work as a nutritionist, female entrepreneurship, starting the app and of course, she shared the story of her first period.Lola comes from a really big family of women, so she says the conversations around periods and bodily changes were always free and open. She says that after having her son at 23, she started to notice changes in her period, which she managed through eating in a different way.It was this journey that led her to go on to study for a degree in nutritional therapy and health sciences. She says that working with patients in student clinic brought home the the impact of diet and lifestyle in helping to modify and improve menstrual and reproductive health symptoms. We talked about the emotional shifts that can occur across the menstrual cycle, which led us nicely into a conversation about Moody Month, the menstrual cycle and mood tracking app that Lola co-founded. Lola says they wanted to reclaim the word moody.Lola says that moods are what make us human. Moods can be reflective and positive and they can equally be negative. Lola says that we need to delve deeper into our moods and why we experience them and move away from negative associations around being moody. Thank you, Lola!Get in touch:Tweet and IG @periodstorypodEmail periodstorypod@gmail.comGet in touch with Lola:WebsiteInstagram See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Looking for period pain relief? The answer is not the typical recommendation you’d get from most Western doctors these days (a.k.a. taking some kind of pill as a band-aid. Um, no thanks!). It’s actually about becoming aware of your cycle and honoring its rhythms. Yep! What if we… no longer had to struggle with painful period symptoms and PMS? actually embraced our menstrual cycles and recognized the power and beauty that exists within them? could finally awaken to our powerful feminine energy, our natural leadership, and innate authority by aligning to our cycles? could move away from exhaustion and burnout, stop hustling, and instead improve our health, increase our impact and influence, and find success in our business and in our life? Well, today’s guest is going to help us do exactly that! Vianney Leigh is a life and success coach, menstrual cycle alignment expert, and host of the Periods & Power Moves Podcast. What you’ll learn in this episode: An overview of the four seasons of your menstrual cycle and what to expect with each one A new, empowering acronym for PMS Where to start when it comes to tracking your menstrual cycle What to do if you don’t have a period right now How to use the power of your menstrual cycle for activism and social change Subscribe and Review Thanks so much for joining me this week. Today’s podcast is on women's health- specifically PERIODS The reason I am creating a series on periods is that I have found within workplace environments that if you have an issue with you periods you simply have to carry on as normal and are way to embarrassed to mention it. For centuries, there has been a stigma surrounding periods: Periods are still in many cases a taboo, so Moody Month is here to change that. Founded by Amy Thomson, Moody Month is a mood and hormone cycle tracker designed to help women better understand their bodies, filling the void of female produced, female-focused technology. The tech company built by women, for women, was created with the idea that our moods should not be suppressed or seen as a taboo, therefore reclaiming what it is to be “moody.”
This week on the brand new series of the Work.Life podcast, hosted by entrepreneur Angelica Malin, we're tackling the topic of women's issues at work. Talking taboos, cultural norms, hormones and horror stories, Angelica is joined in the studio by Tara Scott, Social Media Manager at Moody Month. Tara's own experience of tackling chronic illness in her 20s means the topic of workplace happiness is very close to her heart - join us for a fresh, honest conversation about how companies can nurture and respect their female workforce better.
