What to do when you find yourself in a creative void, either because life has thrown you a curve ball, or you find yourself feeling totally uninspired? Our cycles teach us to trust the fallow times, but that's a tall order in a world that celebrates productivity above all else. Our guest today is author, Rebecca Campbell and she's a great person to have this conversation for many reasons, but especially because she's personally navigated many periods of creative void in order to bring forth creations which have touched the lives of 100s of 1000s of people, including several books, courses, a new podcast and a mystery school. The deeper reason for the richness of this conversation is that Rebecca is a being who fully embraces the mystery. She defines herself as a mystic, and her calling is to weave the sacred back into everyday life. We explore: Why it's ok to suck at the beginning of any creative process, and how staying safe is an antidote to creativity. How to hold ourselves through big creative leaps, like leaving your job, or starting something brand new.The journaling process that helps Rebecca move through imposter syndrome, and how trusting the mystery helps us to find the courage to share our voice.---Join our new Your Creative Power online course and save £100 before Sep 10th: www.redschool.net/creativity ---The Menstruality Podcast is hosted by Red School. "What we are trying to do is reframe periods to be something that is powerful and something that is exciting to talk about at the same time."Myths, misconceptions, and misinformation about periods feed into stigma which can be hugely damaging for menstruators around the world. On this episode of HerVoice, we sit down with Nadya Okamoto to discuss period poverty and the stigma around menstruation.Nadya Okamoto is the co-Founder of August, a lifestyle period brand working to reimagine periods to be powerful. She is also the author of the book PERIOD POWER: a Manifesto for the Menstrual Movement, and founder and former Executive Director of the nonprofit organization, PERIOD. Outside of her work in the menstrual health space, Okamoto is also a mental health advocate and known as a Gen Z marketing expert. She recently graduated from Harvard College, class of 2021.Her debut book, PERIOD POWER, published by Simon & Schuster in 2018, made the Kirkus Reviews list for Best Young Adult Nonfiction that year. Nadya is also the former Chief Brand Officer and Board Member of JUV Consulting, a Generation Z marketing agency based in NYC. She has been recognized on the lists of Forbes 30 under 30, Bloomberg 50 “Ones to Watch” and People Magazine's Women Changing the World.HerMD recognizes that sex and gender exist on spectrums and that our patients have diverse gender identities. In some instances, HerMD uses the word "woman" (and the pronouns "she" and "her") to describe patients or individuals whose sex assigned at birth was female whether they identify as female, male, or non-binary. As gender language continues to evolve, we strive to include more inclusive language in our published content and within our clinics.
Many more women are discovering they're autistic later in life. Including many women who may not appear to fit the ‘stereotypical' perceptions of autism. Like TV presenter Melanie Sykes, model and TV presenter Christine McGuinness (wife of Top Gear presenter Paddy) and Period Power author Maisie Hill. I've talked openly about my diagnosis of ADHD. Earlier this year I discovered that I'm also autistic. Something that has taken me longer to feel comfortable talking about - mainly I feel because of my fear of not being ‘believed'. Mainly due to peoples' stereotypical and, quite frankly, outdated views on what autism looks like - particularly in women. In this episode of the Courageous Content Podcast (which you can also read as a blog) I share what led me to this discovery and how it's impacting my life and business.
