"Autistic women, especially those of us who are late identified, have spent our entire lives performing outside of our comfort zones just to survive, just to pass, to feel safe. [...] And that caused us chronic burnout, sensory overload, and a disconnection from our authentic selves. So telling us to get out of our comfort zone, it's like pouring water on someone who's already drowning", says Carole Jean Whittington. Romans 8:28 reminds us, “...all things work together for good to those who love God...” Yet, when we face loss—whether of a loved one, a job, or even our health—it can be difficult to see any good in our circumstances. In today's message, Dr. Maurice Watson unpacks this powerful scripture, teaching us how to view our challenges through the lens of God's love rather than our pain. Be encouraged as we're reminded that God is always working behind the scenes for our good, allowing us to confidently declare, “It's All Good!”
When Jesus showed up the timing seemed off. It was a harsh and cruel time. No one was really looking for him. They were wishing, but not looking. They were hoping for someone to get them out of trouble, but not believing it could happen that day. The process had started, but not the release from another regime take over. Joseph was not expecting it. He just wanted to marry Mary, a normal Jewish girl. Mary was not expecting it, but then this Angel named Gabriel shows up unannounced and nearly scares her to death. Then there was Elisabeth pregnant with John the Baptist. She and her husband are too old for this. This whole story is impossible and it's just going to take too long. The parents are not impressive. They are just plain folks. What's wrong with this picture? It's the kind of picture that God Loves to paint… Unpredictable, a great surprise. Impossible and yet it's happening right before their eyes. Christmas miracles are happening everyday in someway all over the world, but we don't even notice them until much later because they always come “UnExpectantly”, at the wrong time, in the wrong way and God always uses the "wrong people"…by our standards. Fortunately, God performs miracles by His standards. He loves to Love in Impossible ways. He is the Ultimate Mission Impossible Operative. He is our God and He only “gives good gifts”. He plans All Good things and Gifts in Advance for me as he does for you. In student ministry, God gave us Unexpected Christmas gifts all year long. Each home, each child, each friend and each salvation from our children to family members, friends and students. Never when we expected it. Usually in unforeseen moments, in unforseen circumstances. God Loves His Son's story. His Unexpected, to humankind, predicted but not possible... Christmas Birthday Story. He is the God of Holy Surprises! Keep looking up! You never know when a host of angels are going to start singing like a choir in the sky. _______________________________ Looking for a new student ministry resource? Transforming Customer Support with Technology and Empathy Shep Hyken interviews Derek Allgood, VP of Global Customer Experience (GCX) at eBay. He discusses the importance of nurturing a supportive culture and harnessing innovative tools like AI to enhance employee and customer service. This episode of Amazing Business Radio with Shep Hyken answers the following questions and more: How does enhancing the employee experience contribute to a better customer service experience? How can businesses balance automated customer service solutions with human interactions? What strategies can support remote customer service employees in delivering consistent experiences? How do self-service solutions impact the overall efficiency of customer service operations? How essential is a strong company purpose in driving customer satisfaction? Top Takeaways: Listening is critical to building strong relationships in business and life. When interacting with customers or clients, it is essential to fully comprehend their needs and concerns before taking action. Active listening involves paying attention, asking clarifying questions, and genuinely showing empathy. High employee turnover leads to increased costs and decreased customer satisfaction. Focus on creating a fulfilling and supportive work environment for your team members. Employees who feel valued and engaged become more committed to their roles and deliver exceptional service. Today, more people are working remotely, which requires new ways of maintaining communication and culture. Effectively using technology to communicate improves work efficiency and connectivity. Communication technology helps ensure that employees remain connected and well-informed and can support one another in real time. Self-service technology helps streamline interactions and solve issues quickly. By implementing self-service options, businesses can empower customers to find the answers they need without waiting to speak with a representative. This reduces wait times and allows customer support teams to focus on more complex issues. It also leads to cost savings for businesses and a more satisfying experience for both customers and employees. A great business also thinks about how it can contribute positively to the world. This involves supporting causes that align with the company's values and making a meaningful impact on communities. By having a purpose beyond making money, businesses can connect with people on a more personal level. This builds trust and loyalty among consumers and employees alike. Plus, Derek talks about eBay's innovative AI solutions to support employees and customers. Tune in! Quotes: "The first thing that we have to do in any relationship is to listen. As a business with a buyer and seller relationship, listen and try to understand where the customers are in their journey, what's gone wrong, and how you can support the employees helping them." About: Derek Allgood is the VP of Global Customer Experience (GCX) at eBay. This podcast episode explores the theme of control and the fear of change, which often manifests as anticipating negative outcomes. Arik and Aurelia discuss how individuals cope with the uncertainty of life and the tendency to expect bad news, delving into the psychological and philosophical aspects of control, mindfulness, and belief in the inherent goodness of life. They highlight practical ways to shift one's mindset, such as believing in the intention of the All Good, practicing mindfulness to see the good in every situation, and tackling inner work to anticipate beneficial outcomes instead of negative ones. The conversation underscores the importance of self-responsibility and the potential for personal growth and transformation through conscious effort and perspective shifts.
When life serves conflictual and confusing information, our brains simplify it to survive... and fuck us over in the long-run. Let's talk about the "ALL GOOD" and "ALL BAD" self-defense mechanisms of Splitting and Projective Identification, what function they serve as children & adults, and how they create shitass trauma-bound lives down the line.

I've had so much fun and really enjoyed listening to my guest science teachers during my AP science teacher interview series. Each guest has given incredible insight about the AP exam and helpful tips for other teachers in their respective science disciplines. But out of all the AP science courses, I received the most questions about teaching AP Environmental Science. My guest on today's episode, Ashton Allgood, is the perfect person to answer all of your questions while also sharing how she manages to teach the content in a short amount of time while still preparing her students for their final exams. According to Ashton, AP Environmental Science, or APES as it's commonly referred to, is truly the science course that meshes all the other science branches together. She loves how it's relatable to her students and their ability to apply real-world scenarios and experiences to their everyday activities and discussions. With her class only a semester long, Ashton has come up with creative and engaging ways to make sure her students retain the information necessary to take the AP exam at the end of the year. She also shares how her experience as an AP reader helped prepare her students for the exam. I loved my conversation with Ashton because she has such a profound and realistic perspective when it comes to her student's preparation and work ethic in her class. She sets clear expectations for them and is upfront about the hard work that's ahead of them for the semester. However, she believes in meeting her students halfway, along with honesty and communication. I learned so much about AP Environmental Science but also engaging ways to run a classroom, and I know you will, too! In the 18th installment of the Inside JABA Series, Dr. Dorothea Lerman joins Editor-in-Chief John Borrero and I to talk about her dissemination efforts, which are described in the Winter 2024 issue of the journal. Specifically, we talk about her discussion paper, "Putting the power of behavior analysis in the hands of nonbehavioral professionals: Toward a blueprint for dissemination." This paper is definitely worth checking out. In it, Dorothy describes some common barriers to disseminating behavioral strategies and how to overcome them. We then talk about the blueprint she offers for dissemination, which is broken down into seven steps. These dissemination efforts are described in the context of Dorothy's outreach to public school educators, law enforcement personnel, and health care providers, settings where Dorothy and her colleagues have made successful inroads. Not to spoil the show's content too much, but we touch on the alarming stats regarding the percentage of individuals with disabilities who are either sedated or restrained during dental procedures, and what can be done to improve them. Even if you don't have a desire to bring behavior-analytic strategies to a novel setting, upon listening to the conversation a second time, I think there are lessons from this podcast that you can use in your daily practice. Things like gathering information about a particular culture or setting, describing concepts and principles in plain language, conducting experiments to see if what you're doing is working... you get the idea. We also spend a decent amount of time talking about sustaining behavioral practices once they've been implemented in new settings. One of the things that I forgot to mention during the podcast is that if you're really into dissemination, check out the new edited work, "Disseminating Behavioral Research," in which, coincidentally, the ABA Inside Track crew and I contributed a chapter called, "Non Traditional Options for Dissemination." I'll leave it to you to guess what medium we focused on. Lastly, the Winter 2024 issue of JABA features several moving tributes to Drs. Brian Iwata, Hank Pennypacker, and Ronnie Detrich. Dorothy and Dr. Jennifer Fritz contributed a memoriam to Brian Iwata, and it's well worth checking out. In the first few minutes of the show, Dorothy shared some poignant stories about how Brian influenced her career, and John discussed the responsibility associated with curating the various tributes for this edition of JABA. Relatedly, for the next three months, all of these In Memoriam articles will be freely available, so in the unlikely event you're not a JABA subscriber, you can still check them out. Here are the resources we discussed: Putting the power of behavior analysis in the hands of nonbehavioral professionals: Toward a blueprint for dissemination. Brian A. Iwata, PhD: A Life Well Lived. Today we cover everything in extreme detail in this most comprehensive breakfast you will find ANYWHERE of this content. Additionally we cover the viral Atlanta & Philadelphia hairstylists fuckry that unfolded on social media this week, Aaron Rodgers making an INSANE claim against Jimmy Kimmel and Akademiks dirty macking the fuck out of Danny Green of all people.
