Riding Shotgun With Charlie#103 Alexander RoubianNew Jersey Second Amendment Society   Alexander and I first met at Gun Rights Policy Conference in 2016 in Tampa. After the conference, we both went with Mark Walters (RSWC #002 & #084) and Alan Gottlieb (RSWC #100) to a radio station to be on Armed American Radio. I’ve also been a fan of the Gun For Hire Radio Podcast, which has had Alexander on several times over the years. When I was heading to NJ to film some other shows, I reached out to Alexander and asked if he’d be up for filming  a show.    Alexander had an unfortunate experience which led him to gun ownership.  He grew up in a “gun agnostic” house, where guns weren’t really talked about. He was 20 feet away from a gang initiation which involved killing someone, he decided it was time to get a firearm. After seeing the ridiculousness of the process to get a NJ firearm permit, Alex reached out to Frank Fiamingo, founder of New Jersey Second Amendment Society (NJ2AS) and joined the group. Within 5 years of joining the group, Alexander became the president.    Every time I have a passenger from New Jersey in the shotgun seat, we end up talking about how absurd the laws are in that state.  Alexander gets into how the New Jersey strict gun laws cause deaths like the woman who had a boyfriend who came out and said he was going to kill her.  While he was waiting to get a firearm license, she was killed by him. Just like he said.  If the state hadn’t dragged their feet for 43 from when she started the process, she may have been able to save her own life.    Some of the games they play in New Jersey are things like, having to apply but only on Mondays between 9am-11am, saying that you need a good reason that satisfies what the police want, and begging to get a license to possess a handgun. I believe many of the residents call the licensing process a ‘scheme’.    NJ2AS is also working with someone who doesn’t have any criminal violations or history, but they’re still being denied because the chief of police doesn't think it serves the “public interest”.  This leads to only “the rich” who can hire an attorney to fight the case will be the only one who can afford to get a carry permit. This is what I call the “gun control loophole”.  It’s any method that the anti-gun folks use to make it difficult for someone to get a firearm.    One of the things they have in New Jersey is a banned list of firearms.  Massachusetts has something similar, we have a list of firearms we can get from dealers.  We can possess those firearms, but we can’t get them through a dealer.     We get into how things work, or don’t work, in New Jersey. If you’re from “Free America”, you’ll be shocked. Alexander explains all the ways the state of New Jersey makes it hard for anyone who wants to get a firearm.  Often people suggest leaving states like that.  But we need to join NJ2AS to fight in these battleground states.    It is great to hear that the Second Amendment Foundation and the Firearm Policy Coalition are teaming up with NJ2AS to work on cases so the citizens of the state can eventually have the Right to Keep and Bear.  With people like Alexander fighting for Rights of gun owners in New Jersey, we need to keep supporting them.  Many in New Jersey say “What happens in New Jersey, doesn’t stay in New Jersey!”  So if you can, send NJ2AS a donation!   Favorite quotes:  “So the natural progression to that was ‘I don’t want to be that guy. Our guest today is Alex “Alejandro" Roubian. Alejandro is the President of the New Jersey Second Amendment Society (NJ2AS). The NJ2AS is a human rights advocacy group that lobbies against unreasonable gun control laws. We believe in the responsible ownership and use of firearms as part of our rights as Americans under the second amendment of the Bill of Rights. The NJ2AS educates the public and the legislature on the safe and responsible use of firearms, laws, and policies to protect our freedoms. #1) The theme of today’s segment is “The 2A is Above The Governor’s Pay Grade?”. Really, the answer is YES, it IS above his pay grade. The NJ Governor Phil Murphy has no say in it whatsoever. But, the problem is that he said, "I wasn't thinking of the Bill of Rights when we did this.” Yet, he wants it both ways and he DOES want to act like HIS wishes take precedent over the Bill of Rights. #2) The NJ2AS has filed lawsuits against your NJ Governor Murphy. While it is unfortunate that we have come to a place in the US where too much about our Constitutional Protections are being decided by judges, thankfully we DO have the courts as an avenue against little tyrants. Tell us about the suits you have brought against NJ Legislature. #3) After watching a few of the news clips the NJ2AS has posted up, it appears that NJ Governor is trying to silence you, even going so far as to have revoked your press credentials and have his armed guards surrounded you to kick you out of a public meeting. (So Mr. Anti-gun is pro-gun as long as HE and his employees are the only ones who have them?)

Mike, Kevin and Earl lured Alexander Roubian from the New Jersey Second Amendment Society down to Florida to celebrate the New Year with the promise to go to the range and shoot machine guns and ring in the new year with a bang!!! Unfortunately Alexander also introduces the guys to Donna Gracey. She is a single mother military vet that was traveling into New Jersey to have dinner an old school friend for the holidays while she had her legal concealed firearm in her car with her FL concealed carry permit, and she was arrested for that and now faces two felony charges. The first charge is for the pistol and the second is for the hollow point Defensive ammo she had loaded in it. She gives us her alleged side of the story and Kevin, Mike and Alexander talk about what is going to happen. Maj. Bill calls in talking about firearms safety for New Years Eve, DON'T SHOOT YOUR FIREARMS INTO THE AIR IN CELEBRATION!!! The bullets do come back down.

Mike, Kevin, and Earl talk about how gun buy-back programs aren't really working, even when they offer up to $400 like the program in Hartford CN. This was a great week for call-ins from around the country. Alex from the New Jersey Second Amendment Society calls in talking about a case where a man's pistol was seized and not returned to him even after the charges against him were dropped. Alex also gives us an update of the goings on in New Jersey. Phil from Guntec USA was finally able to break off of working to give us a call and talk about some of the new rail products they have recently released and some of the new ones on the way. Mike and Earl talk about a man having a ND (negligent discharge) in his apartment... three times. Craig from the Firearms Policy Coalition calls in talking about how most of the "anti-gun" legislation drafted after the tragedy in Las Vegas is not really going anywhere. Craig also talks about the football team donating to anti-gun groups, and gives us an update on what's happening behind the liberal curtain on the left coast. Maj. Bill is able to give us a call this week as well, talking about a case of self defense mis-labeled by the media, shocking right?

Mr. Michael Tumminelli is an Army and Air Force Combat Veteran with 13 years of service, along with 9 years as an employee of the Department of the Army. He is one of the founding members of the "Party of Six", and is currently inolved in 1 of 2 major legal cases appealing the "Justifiable Need" statute in the state of New Jersey. January 2015: The Party of 6 was born out of necessity and frustration. All the active members of this small and eclectic team have gone all the way through the NJ permitting process to obtain a permit to carry, with all being denied. Original member’s cases have all been closed out due to lack of resourcing and support from such groups as NJ2AS, ANJPRC, NRA and others. Lack of will and many attempts to work with all these groups came to quick and painful death as we learned that NJ groups are not willing to work together for the collective good. March 2016: Brushing our slumber and regrouping, the Party of 6 was revived out of sheer will and a hell a lot of grit. We are no better than those who are reading this now, but as those who have dared wade into the turbulent process of obtaining a Permit to Carry we understand we are at a critical point in our Garden State! We understand our political foes, but more so there is an absolute disconnect between those who claim to represent us, the common folk. They have grown into the Establishment and decide who knows what and when. It is well known that NJ 2A groups are deeply divided and for a reason, well here we are. To some we shall be seen as trouble makers who obviously have no capacity to understand what is happening around us, but let us rebut these notions by our stories and our willingness to once again hold those who wish not hold themselves accountable in this fight.

Frank Jack Fiamingo is a retired businessman who did not grow up around guns and did not give them much thought. At age 61 he was introduced to the shooting sports by his brother in Florida. New Jersey is one of the most over-regulated states with regard to the rights that are supposed to be protected by the Second Amendment. After having his background checked for criminal behavior, his mental health records invasively searched and having been fingerprinted like a common criminal, he began to look into the antiquated, quagmire of draconian laws that are the New Jersey Firearms statutes. He founded the New Jersey Second Amendment Society (NJ2AS) in July of 2010 with nine other concerned individuals and now can boast multiple thousands of members. The story continues.
