Let's talk about fairness—or, more accurately, let's talk about how your company is probably failing at it! You know the drill: the ‘neutral' policies that somehow always disadvantage the same people, the DEI initiatives that start and end with a Slack emoji, the performance reviews that feel more like a lottery than actual feedback. This week, Zach Nunn (founder of Living Corporate and certified corporate truth-teller) joins me to rip apart the illusion of fairness at work! We're talking remote work double standards, the sneaky policies that keep marginalized employees stuck, and why ‘transparency' is often just corporate code for ‘we'll tell you the rules but not how to win.' If most workplaces were actually fair, we wouldn't need this episode! But since that's not our reality yet… press play and let's get figure it out together. Choosing the wrong HR platform is rife with regrets: losing a top performer, promoting the wrong person, or failing to engage your team when the business needs it most. Attorney Ken Nunn, one of Indiana's most recognizable legal figures, joins The Indiana Lawyer podcast to discuss his unconventional path to success. In a conversation with host Alexa Shrake, Nunn reflects on his early struggles, including dropping out of high school, flunking multiple grades, and spending time in jail for theft before turning his life around. Now leading a firm with more than 100 employees, Nunn reflects on the lessons he has learned, the mentors who shaped him, and his advice for young lawyers entering the profession.
Alistair Nunn, PhD, is a British theoretician with a background in biochemistry, drug development and quantum biology. He is currently the director of science at the Guy Foundation where he contributes to work on bioenergetics, the thermodynamics of life and quantum effects in biological systems. His research interests focus on understanding inflammation and ageing, the implications of which are fundamental to life. This has inevitably brought his focus towards the notion of hormesis and life as a complex, dissipative structure. His conception of what is important when it comes to understanding health and disease are vital, as he focuses on the most foundational aspects of life and how they shape it.Please consider subscribing to my Substack to support the podcast and get deeper insights into these topics.
