He holds a degree in Communications and Marketing from Central Michigan University and a Master's in Theological Studies from the International School of Theology. Back in 2021, we recorded our second ever wrap-up episode for our second play series: Twelfth Night. We both watched two versions of Twelfth Night: Trevor Nunn's 1996 film and She's the Man, then we also each watched an additional version. Kourtney watched the The Globe's 2012 production starring Mark Rylance, and Elyse watched National Theatre's 2017 production featuring Tamsin Greig.  But then, tragedy struck when Kourtney went to edit the episode! The audio files for the majority of the episode were corrupted and could not be used. The only usable audio was the portion of our conversation about She's the Man. So, we released what we could as our "Twelfth Night: Wrap Up" episode.  Since that day, we've dreamed about going back and revisiting the three productions that were lost to technological issues. Today, we are so excited to revisit those productions and share our 2025 thoughts with you.  Shakespeare Anyone? is created and produced by Kourtney Smith and Elyse Sharp. December 10th marks the 77th Anniversary of World Human Rights Day. CARE USA President and CEO Michelle Nunn says 91,000,000 lives have been saved internationally in the last 20 years as a result of U.S. humanitarian aid. She added that less than a fraction of a penny is invested from every U.S. tax dollar. Those are the numbers Nunn wants the public to be aware of as the Trump Administration makes deep cuts to foreign aid programs, despite over one-billion people living in extreme poverty around the world. She says CARE USA had to reduce their operating budget by $300 Million this year to make up for the financial shortfall. Nunn also mentioned they’ve had to pull back on some of their outreach to areas experiencing crises, like Haiti. Nunn joined “Closer Look with Rose Scott” today to explain the impact of these investments, why they also matter to U.S. economic and national security, the pivotal part Georgia plays in global development and international aid, and how organizations like CARE USA are finding new ways to support communities abroad. Show host Rose Scott also shares a segment of her 2013 journey to Jordan where CARE assisted Syrian refugees.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this episode of "Success Leaves Clues," Sarah Short speaks with Alex Nunn, a former charity sector leader turned executive coach. Alex shares her journey from navigating burnout in the non-profit world to building a thriving coaching business that supports the very sector she left.Alex opens up about the myth that "clients will just find you," the power of narrowing your niche, and how she now helps charity CEOs avoid the burnout she experienced herself.Key Takeaways1. The Path from Accidental Leader to Coach - Alex spent her career in the charity sector, focusing on mental health and homelessness, eventually becoming an "accidental leader" as she progressed through senior roles. However, during the pandemic, balancing work and motherhood led to burnout. After receiving coaching herself, she realised she wanted to help people thrive through the science of positive psychology.2. The Marketing Reality Check - Despite holding a Master's degree in Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology, Alex realised that qualifications alone don't build a business. She was initially told, "You never need to market your business... people will just find you," but quickly discovered this was not the case. This realisation led her to seek out The Coaching Revolution to learn the necessary business development skills.3. The Power of "Nailing the Niche" - Alex describes her experience with the Nail Your Niche Challenge:Initially, she marketed herself broadly around "wellbeing," attracting a mix of people.Through the challenge, she realised that tightening her focus to female CEOs in the charity sector made her messaging stronger.Alex notes that "the tighter I focus, the louder my voice," echoing advice from her mentors.4. Impacting the Sector from the Outside - Alex now works adjacent to the charity sector rather than inside it, which allows her to make a significant impact without the internal burnout. She notes that charity leaders often face unique pressures to "deliver more for less" and suffer from the loneliness of the CEO role.By coaching the CEO, she creates a ripple effect that improves the well-being of the entire organisation and helps them achieve their charitable aims.5. Resilience in Business - Alex shares a candid look at the ups and downs of entrepreneurship. After early success using platforms like TikTok, she faced a personal bereavement that slowed her momentum. However, by re-engaging fully with her marketing and being authentic, her business picked up again, leading to speaking engagements and ideal client work. The Nail Your Niche Challenge: A free, four-day challenge run by Sarah Short three times a year (September, January, and after Easter). In Episode #243 of the XS Noize Podcast, host Mark Millar chats with Rick Nunn — vocalist and guitarist of The Milk — about the band's powerful new album Borderlands, released 19 September on WLS Records. Formed during their school days, The Milk have spent decades honing a sound that blends soul, funk, and rock with fearless live energy. From their major-label debut Tales from the Thames Delta to the independent breakthrough Favourite Worry and the cinematic sweep of Cages, they've built a reputation for honesty, craft, and ambition. With Borderlands, they return with their most expansive and personal work yet — an album that weaves choirs, brass, and strings into stories of love, loss, and resilience. In this episode, Rick opens up about the ambition behind Borderlands, the journey from navigating label compromises to full creative independence, and how three decades of friendship continue to drive The Milk's music. He also reflects on the band's evolution and why Borderlands feels like a defining chapter in their story. Whether you've followed The Milk from the beginning or are discovering them for the first time, this episode offers a raw, inspiring look at a band still pushing forward with heart and conviction. In a 2012 opinion piece bemoaning the state of the US Senate, Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank cited a “leading theory: There are no giants in the chamber today.” Among the respected members who once walked the Senate floor, admired for their expertise and with a stature that went beyond party, Milbank counted Sam Nunn (D-GA). Nunn served in the Senate for four terms beginning in 1972, at a moment when domestic politics and foreign policy were undergoing far-reaching changes. As a member and then chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, he had a vital impact on most of the crucial national security and defense issues of the Cold War era and the “new world order” that followed—issues that included the revitalization of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's military capability, US-Soviet relations, national defense reorganization and reform, the Persian Gulf conflict, and nuclear arms control. In this first full account of Nunn's senatorial career, Frank Leith Jones reveals how, as a congressional leader and “shadow secretary of defense,” Nunn helped win the Cold War, constructing the foundation for the defense and foreign policies of the 1970s and 1980s that secured the United States and its allies from the Soviet threat. At a time of bitter political polarization and partisanship, Nunn's reputation remains that of a statesman with a record of bipartisanship and a dedication to US national interests above all. His career, as recounted in Sam Nunn: Statesman of the Nuclear Age (University Press of Kansas, 2020), provides both a valuable lesson in the relationships among the US government, foreign powers, and societies and a welcome reminder of the capacity of Congress, even a lone senator, to promote and enact policies that can make the country, and the world, a better and safer place. Frank Leith Jones is professor of security studies and the General C. Marshall Chair of Military Studies in the Department of National Security and Strategy at the US Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. His published work includes Blowtorch: Robert Komer, Vietnam, and American Cold War Strategy. Arya Hariharan is a lawyer in politics. Key updates include: • Attorney General Brenna Bird announcing she won't run for governor • Congressman Zach Nunn now seriously considering entering the race • Matt Windschitl running for Congress in IA-04 • What the third district could look like if Nunn vacates the seatThey close with a reminder to prospective local candidates: now is the time to get moving.
