But what if the health of your mouth could influence your overall health and well being? In this episode, we're joined by Elizabeth Peters, a board certified Lifestyle Medicine Professional, to explore the fascinating connection between oral health and whole-person health. With more than 30 years working closely with clients as a dental hygienist and earning a graduate degree in public health, Elizabeth has expanded her focus beyond oral health to support overall wellbeing. Do you think probiotics can replace brushing and flossing? A viral TikTok trend is making that claim, but dental professionals are sounding the alarm. In this episode, Kevin Henry and pharmacology expert Tom Viola break down the truth behind probiotics and oral health so dental assistants can confidently answer questions patients are already bringing into the office. Tom explains how probiotics may support gum health, freshen breath, and improve the balance of healthy bacteria in the mouth, but they cannot remove plaque or replace the mechanical cleaning that brushing and flossing provide. The conversation also explores how social media trends quickly influence patient beliefs and why dental assistants play such an important role in patient education and communication within the practice. Kevin and Tom discuss how teams can stay ahead of misinformation, prepare for common patient questions, and reinforce healthy oral hygiene habits without dismissing patient curiosity. This episode is packed with practical insight for dental assistants who want to stay informed, support their patients with confidence, and better understand the growing conversations around probiotics and oral health. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. . . And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 5:6-7,10-11 He Cares “Who cares?” Maybe we’ve said that when something seemed insignificant. At times, we might truly ask that when we are struggling, and it seems like no one cares. Who sincerely cares? God does. He sees, and he cares. While we wait for Jesus to come and take us to glory, Peter reminds us that he cares. He writes, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” There’s a dose of humility that comes with suffering. In humility, I need to see that I’m not exempt from hardship and suffering any more than Jesus was. But neither am I exempt from the glory and life my Savior won for me. In the meantime, he cares! Peter encourages us to cast our anxiety off on Jesus. But sometimes, we tend to brush off instead of casting off. Brushing off means I don’t want to deal with it. I don’t have the capacity to address this problem, so I’ll ignore it or pretend it doesn’t exist. Sometimes, we brush off the troubles of others and minimize whatever it is that’s making them anxious. Jesus doesn’t brush you off, and he doesn’t brush off whatever is causing you anxiety like it’s nothing. He says, “Give it to me!” That’s how much he cares. The same living and loving God who said about your sins, “Give them to me!” and carried them to a cross, also says about your fears, your worries, your anxieties, your sorrows, “Give them to me!” Why? Because he cares. For you! He lifts the burdens you can’t carry and sustains you through this life even when you suffer. And as surely as he rose from the dead and ascended into heaven, he lives, and he is coming to take you to glory someday. Why? Because he still cares! A Sketch Of You Arrives You've Got 6 Days To Confess The Confession Artist From Christine Carbo

In her acclaimed series of mysteries set in and around Glacier National Park, Christine Carbo explored the perilous intersection between humans and the natural world. In her new standalone thriller, THE CONFESSION ARTIST (Thomas & Mercer; May 5, 2026; $16.99 Paperback), Carbo shifts her focus from the remote Montana wilderness to a vast and virtually inescapable landscape rife with threats from anonymous monsters: the digital world.     It began with a pencil sketch of a middle-aged, bearded man. Someone unknown had posted it on several untraceable accounts across social media. Below the photo, in yellow block text, all caps, was a command: CONFESS, OR DIE. YOU HAVE SIX DAYS. At first, few people paid attention. About a week later, a reporter who had been intrigued by the random posts wrote that a man resembling the sketch had been fatally shot just outside of Seattle. Police denied a connection, but the accounts generated a ton of new followers. A month later, a second sketch, paired with the same chilling demand, was posted. It went viral. This time, the sketch was of a woman. By the end of that week, a female mirroring the drawing was found murdered in Santa Monica, California. When the third sketch—another male—dropped, it got global attention. Law enforcement agencies across the US, especially in the West, went on high alert. But after six days passed, no one turned up dead. Had the man fessed up and been spared?        A first-year PI in the Flathead Valley, Crosbie Mitchell yearns for something more exciting than tracking down cheating spouses. Still, she has little interest in all the buzz surrounding the killer dubbed “The Confession Artist.” Boredom aside, she doesn't regret her decision to quit the force. Being the lone woman cop in her precinct was tough even before her coworkers saw her as toxic for reporting sexual harassment. And after Jess, her sister and only family, was raped, she needed to be there for her. The real reason, however, is something Crosbie can barely think about without feeling… slimy, or worse. Yes, Crosbie has skeletons shoved deep in her closet. Yet, she's knocked for a loop when a fourth sketch goes viral and Jess gasps in horror: “It's you.” Brushing it off, Crosbie insists:  “I'm a nobody from Montana.” Then, her ex-boyfriend calls with a significant detail: the woman in the sketch is wearing the same dangling earrings, in the shape of a feather with a round stone in the center, as the handcrafted pair he gave her. You have six days to confess or die. Crosbie's heart pounds at the thought. What should she confess first?Keeping the tension building, THE CONFESSION ARTIST follows Crosbie as she digs into the identity of the online killer and evades a stalker. Before the sketch made her a public figure of wild speculation, Crosbie had been hired to investigate the suspicious death of a Native American journalist about to expose the shady and environmentally destructive practices of a local oil and natural gas company. Could Crosbie be the target of a copycat vendetta launched by Ridgefield's filthy rich and unscrupulous owner? Or maybe that charming reporter who popped up out of nowhere to interview her is really a serial killer? Oh, and Crosbie can't shake the hunch that both her ex-boyfriend and her sister know more than they're telling her.           Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-like-it-s-live--4113802/support.

We start by addressing the deeply uncomfortable feelings directed towards the squad this week. Seeing the players post jubilant, smiling social media updates while away on the international break has struck a massive nerve with a fanbase still reeling from a relegation scrap. The conversation then turns to the people running the club. With the pressure mounting, we analyse the massive decision Vinai Venkatesham and Johan Lange have on their hands regarding Igor Tudor's future. If they pull the plug on the interim boss, who is actually brave or foolish enough to step into the dugout right now to save us from the drop? Finally, Jon answers your listener questions. We debate what it will actually take to spark full-scale protests against the owners, ask how Vinai and Lange are still in their jobs given the current mess, and end on a necessary lighter note by getting Jon's favourite whiskies to help soothe the pain of yet another Tottenham defeat. Oral Health, Inflammation, and Periodontal Disease: Dr. William Levine, a board-certified periodontist and chief scientist at Peri Active Oral Rinse, offers a deep-dive on periodontal disease as an infectious inflammatory condition with autoimmune-like tissue destruction. It affects over 50% of U.S. adults over 35 and rises with age. He details bidirectional links between gum disease and systemic conditions, including cardiovascular disease, stroke, diabetes, and some dementias, and notes signs such as bleeding, pain, swelling, loose or shifting teeth, and gum recession. Levine explains plaque, dysbiosis, and biofilms, emphasizing mechanical plaque removal to preserve a healthy oral microbiome. Standard care includes scaling and root planing, possible surgery, and lasers; antiseptic rinses like chlorhexidine can be harsh and limited against biofilms. Levine describes a plant-bioactive rinse (gotu kola, echinacea, elderberry) designed to reduce harmful bacteria, penetrate gums, lower inflammation, and promote repair; xylitol may help via saliva stimulation. He also addresses smoking, dry mouth, fluoride toothpaste, interdental cleaning, and osteoporotic drugs' dental risks.

In this episode Andrea Samadi revisits her conversation with Rohan Dixit, founder of Leaf Therapeutics, exploring how heart rate variability (HRV) and breath awareness reveal hidden stress and support self-regulation. Learn practical breath techniques like the physiological sigh and slow breathing, plus tips to calm nighttime stress and improve sleep, so you can build lasting resilience without over-relying on technology. In Episode 389, we revisit our September 2022 interview with Rohan Dixit, founder of Lief Therapeutics, where we explore the science behind HRV, breath awareness, and how learning to regulate our nervous system can improve stress, sleep, and resilience. In this episode, we cover: ✔ What heart rate variability (HRV) is and why it's one of the most important biomarkers for understanding stress, recovery, and resilience ✔  Why many people unknowingly hold their breath during stressful moments and how this impacts mental health and nervous system regulation ✔  How breath awareness can help shift the body from a stress response to a calmer, more regulated state ✔  How wearable technology like the Lief Therapeutics device can help people recognize stress patterns in real time ✔  Why improving breathing patterns before sleep can improve sleep quality and reduce anxiety the following day ✔  The connection between self-regulation, nervous system awareness, and long-term mental health ✔ Why learning to regulate stress through breathing is a skill that develops over time, not a one-time solution Welcome back to Season 15 of the Neuroscience Meets Social and Emotional Learning Podcast. I'm Andrea Samadi, and here we bridge the science behind social and emotional learning, emotional intelligence, and practical neuroscience—so we can create measurable improvements in well-being, achievement, productivity, and results. When we launched this podcast seven years ago, it was driven by a question I had never been taught to ask— not in school, not in business, and not in life: If results matter—and they matter now more than ever—how exactly are we using our brain to make these results happen? Most of us were taught what to do. Very few of us were taught how to think under pressure, how to regulate emotion, how to sustain motivation, or even how to produce consistent results without burning out. That question led me into a deep exploration of the mind–brain–results connection—and how neuroscience applies to everyday decisions, conversations, and performance. That's why this podcast exists. Each week, we bring you leading experts to break down complex science and translate it into practical strategies you can apply immediately. Season 15 we've organized as a review roadmap, where each episode explores one foundational brain system—and each phase builds on the one before it. Season 15 Roadmap: Phase 1 — Regulation & Safety Phase 2 — Neurochemistry & Motivation Phase 3 — Movement, Learning & Cognition Phase 4 — Perception, Emotion & Social Intelligence Phase 5 — Integration, Insight & Meaning PHASE 1: REGULATION & SAFETY Staples: Sleep + Stress Regulation Core Question: Is the nervous system safe enough to learn? Anchor Episodes Episode 384[i] — Baland Jalal How learning begins: curiosity, sleep, imagination, creativity Episode 385[ii] — Bruce Perry “What happened to you?” — trauma, rhythm, relational safety Episode 387[iii] Sui Wong Autonomic balance, lifestyle medicine, brain resilience Episode 389 Rohan Dixit HRV, real-time self-regulation, nervous system literacy Episode 390 Dr. Kristen Holmes (Whoop) Recovery Metrics, physiological readiness Episode 391 Antonio Zadra Sleep, dreaming, REM Integration EPISODE 389 — Rohan Dixit HRV, Real-Time Self-Regulation, and Nervous System Literacy In Phase 1: Regulation & Safety, we are asking one essential question: Is the nervous system safe enough to learn? So far, we've revisited Dr. Baland Jalal on curiosity, sleep, imagination, and creativity; Dr. Bruce Perry on trauma, rhythm, and relational safety; and Dr. Sui Wong on autonomic balance, lifestyle medicine, and brain resilience. Today, we return to one of my favorite episodes—Episode 248[iv] with Rohan Dixit, founder of Lief Therapeutics—where we explored how a deeper understanding of heart rate variability, or HRV, can help us sharpen our awareness of stress, recovery, and resilience. What stood out most to me about Rohan's work was that his wearable device was never meant to become something we depend on forever. Instead, it was designed to help people learn how to breathe and regulate themselves in real time—so that eventually, they can recognize stress, anxiety, and overwhelm on their own, and know how to calm their body without needing the device. At the heart of Rohan's mission is something much bigger than technology. It's about helping people build the skills to manage stress in healthier ways—without over-relying on medication, quick fixes, or habits that may bring short-term relief but create long-term harm. This episode reminds us that self-regulation is a skill. And when we learn to read the signals of the body, we can begin to build the safety and stability the brain needs for learning, healing, and growth.

Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb is not your typical astronomer. For many years, he's been scouring the universe for the abnormal and the unknown. “Brushing anomalies under the carpet of traditional thinking,” as he puts it, is anathema for him.“One way to learn more,” he told me, “is to pay attention to the anomalies, because they may lead us to something that we've never thought about … Maybe they will open up our eyes to extra dimensions … or new physics.”In 2021, Loeb founded the Harvard-based Galileo Project to speed up the scientific search for evidence of extraterrestrial objects. Since then, Loeb has been supervising the construction of three state-of-the-art observatories in the United States: one in Massachusetts, one in Pennsylvania and one in Nevada. They make use of machine learning models to identify unexplained anomalies and use triangulation to infer the distance of objects from Earth.“Instead of waiting for the U.S. government to release its data, we just look up and ask, are there any objects up there that are not human-made? And of course, anything that is human-made is boring, as far as I'm concerned,” he said.Did his observatories find evidence of objects that might be extraterrestrial? Perhaps. They detected objects that, as he said, “arrive in our backyard from outside the solar system.” Such interstellar objects were purely theoretical before 2017, when the first one was discovered. Since then, two more have been found. This, he told me, is the new frontier in astronomy. But are these interstellar objects of natural origin? Many astronomers believe they are, but Loeb is not so sure. Take, for example, Oumuamua, the first recognized interstellar object ever discovered: Its core features are undisputedly abnormal. Oumuamua moved very quickly without a recognizable method of propulsion. And as it left the solar system, it accelerated to a degree that could not be explained by gravity alone.Loeb has been arguing that Oumuamua might be an artificial light sail propelled by solar radiation pressure and built by ancient civilizations that exist or existed beyond our solar system.“Most of the stars formed billions of years before the sun. The sun formed only 4.6 billion years ago … There was plenty of time for Voyager-like probes to arrive in the solar system. And so we are searching for any technological artifacts, objects very different from traditional SETI,” he said.SETI stands for “Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence” and refers to a project dedicated to detecting advanced extraterrestrial civilizations. Here are some of the many other topics we discussed in our wide-ranging interview:-What is the origin of hypervelocity stars that race through the universe at a significant fraction of the speed of light? -Are there other dimensions beyond our own? -How would the discovery of extraterrestrial life impact religious views? -Is AI a form of alien intelligence?Views expressed in this video are opinions of the host and the guest, and do not necessarily reflect the views of The Epoch Times.

How do you naturally prime yourself for your day? Brushing your teeth to feel refreshed, playing hype music to get in a better mood, opening windows to let in fresh air. These are all forms of priming that affect how our mind feels going into things. We associate familiarity with ease. What do we do when people use priming with negative intentions?"Start by cultivating environmental awareness. Look around your workspace, your living room, and your digital feeds. What are they priming you for? Does your phone's home screen, filled with news and social media apps, prime you for distraction and outrage? Does your desk, cluttered with unfinished tasks, prime you for anxiety? You have the power to curate your environment." - madeupmind.org “The world makes much less sense than you think.
