On today's episode, we welcome the illustrious Robert James Comber, a modern-day renaissance man whose work spans astrology, art, and ancient wisdom. As our conversation unfolds, we delve into the depths of the cosmos, seeking to uncover the mysteries written in the stars. We begin with a fascinating exploration of the origins of astrology. Robert James Comber traces its roots back to ancient times, illuminating the profound connection between the heavens and human experience. He speaks of the Dendera stone in Egypt, an ancient artifact that holds carvings of astrological signs, bridging the celestial with the terrestrial. This stone, housed in the temple of Hathor, tells the tale of our ancestors who looked to the skies for guidance and understanding. In this profound conversation, Robert James Comber introduces us to the concept of the cosmic dance, a harmonious interplay of masculine and feminine energies represented by the Yin-Yang. He likens this dance to the first law of polarity, emphasizing the importance of seeing ourselves as both the dance and the dancers. "We are a spirit having a human experience, not just a human trying to explore the spiritual experience," he explains, urging us to embrace the non-local consciousness and the initiation of ether.Astrology, according to Robert James Comber, is not merely a tool for divination but a rich tapestry of stories and traditions passed down through generations. He describes the deacons within each zodiac sign, revealing how these constellations hold the key to our personal and collective narratives. These stories, he asserts, are embedded in every culture, from the Aboriginal star maps to the Dogon tribe's celestial knowledge. The stars, he says, are a grand gallery in the sky, a divine movie for us to watch and learn from. Our discussion then takes a turn towards the mysterious I Ching, an ancient Chinese text often used for divination. Robert James Comber shares his insights into the binary code of the I Ching, likening it to the computer codes of today. He explains how this ancient system of yin and yang evolved into a complex language that guides life's decisions, from the mundane to the profound. "It's a language that gives us a framework," he notes, allowing us to fill in the beauty of our lives through its structure.SPIRITUAL TAKEAWAYSUnity of Creation and Creator: Embrace the love of creation and the Creator, understanding that we are all part of the same universal experience. This realization fosters compassion and interconnectedness among all beings.Embrace Your Purpose: According to Robert James Comber, the purpose of life is what you choose it to be. By wholeheartedly embracing your chosen path, you align with your true purpose and find fulfillment.Astrological Insights: The stories written in the stars are not just ancient myths but personal narratives that guide our lives. By understanding these celestial stories, we gain deeper insights into our own journeys and the collective human experience. As our conversation draws to a close, Robert James Comber leaves us with a powerful message: "We are moving through tremendous, amazing times. Often it can feel like everything's falling apart, but knowing the stars and the star law of our story, everything is actually falling together." His words remind us that in the grand scheme of the cosmos, we are all interconnected, and our stories are part of a larger, unfolding narrative. Please enjoy my conversation with Robert James Comber.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/next-level-soul-podcast-with-alex-ferrari--4858435/support.

Tune in as host, anxiety coach Robert James, takes an enlightening look at the power of positive distraction, mindful attention, and the concept of the 'flow state'. Robert reflects on these themes by quoting renowned psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi and sharing his own insights on the benefits of engaging in activities that challenge us just enough to completely absorb our attention - a state known as flow. Here we not only gain relief from fear and rumination, but also experience the fullness of our lives, bringing us closer to our values and interests inside of our obsessions and compulsions. However, while positive, healthy distraction can be a potent tool against OCD, it's equally crucial to be wary of unhealthy forms that involve incessantly keeping busy or forcefully suppressing fears which, in turn, often exacerbates anxiety and exhaustion. In this episode, your host - Robert James engages in a friendly chat about OCD and anxiety while sitting comfortably with his feet-warming friend, Bruno the dog. This episode focuses on how to tackle Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and anxiety without 'physically' undoing it. Often, getting over OCD involves a level of acceptance and a willingness to embrace uncertainty as we let go of constantly trying to 'fix' it thereby unraveling the 'knot' of OCD. Robert provides insights on how to improve mental health by implementing techniques such as acceptance and commitment therapy. Robert uses the metaphor of the 'monkey knot' to illustrate OCD, detailing how trying to problem solve our way out of it can inadvertently result in a complex knot that ties us down. Self-compassion, acceptance, and understanding that we determine our own mental states are important tools to navigate these challenging emotions. Further in the episode, Robert discusses the importance of finding your own serenity even in tumultuous emotional seas. This involves going deeper within yourself using tools such as the breath, meditation, and mindfulness to find that space of calm. He also emphasizes the importance of focusing on your values, embracing difficult emotions, and reorienting your attention away from the anxieties that dominate your thoughts. In conclusion, Robert encourages compassion for oneself and the cultivation of emotional flexibility through the process of letting difficult emotions ebb and flow without attempting to immediately resolve them. He underscores the significance of refocusing our energies on aspects of life that contribute to our holistic well-being and emotional health. Jose Rojas, 55, has pleaded guilty to the brutal killings of his colleagues, Frances Venezia and Robert James, more than 11 years after the gruesome incident. The deadly attack occurred on April 27, 2012, at the offices of Professional Public Adjusters in Florida. Rojas said in a three-page letter to the judge that he would like to receive the death penalty for his actions, a fate that the jury will now deliberate next month as the trial moves to the penalty phase. In the letter, Rojas said, "I'm tired, really tired and I want to end this for all of us as fast and easy as I can. From what I understand, your honor has the power over my life and your honor is the most intelligent person in this room. So, I'm asking you if I change my plea ... what I really, really want can your honor make the order for the state to kill me quickly?"  Rojas, who had allegedly been embezzling from the company since December 2011, reportedly overheard Venezia discussing unauthorized charges on a company credit card two days before the murders. Prosecutors claim that this triggered Rojas to plan the violent workplace assault meticulously. Rojas eventually admitted to the murders, revealing to the police that he lurked in the office wearing a dark hood. Upon the arrival of Venezia and James for work that morning, he shot them both with a pellet gun, as detailed in the arrest affidavit. According to his confession, he proceeded to restrain them in their office chairs using duct tape, all the while pressuring Venezia to authorize a significant withdrawal from her checking account. As Venezia began to scream, Rojas resorted to using a mop to silence her. Subsequently, James started screaming, too, and Rojas claimed that the next thing he knew, he was covered in blood. Prosecutors assert that Rojas conveniently forgot brutally beating Venezia and James to death with a hole puncher, letter opener, and the blade from a paper cutter. During their opening statement, prosecutors presented the bloody hole puncher and duct tape as evidence to the jury. Rojas' attorney countered in his opening statement, citing his client's acute depression stemming from childhood trauma and brain injuries incurred during years of playing soccer. Venezia attempted to contact her daughter in New York, while James reached out to his life partner in Italy, begging for help. Unfortunately, their efforts were in vain, as Rojas allegedly continued the relentless assault until their deaths. Rojas, covered in blood, was confronted by police outside the building and attempted to flee. After a chase, he was apprehended in an alley next to a supermarket. Following 17 hours of police interviews, Rojas reportedly confessed to the heinous crimes. Charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of armed kidnapping, and attempted robbery, Rojas had been held without bond since April 28, 2012. His trial began on Wednesday and took an unexpected turn when he entered a guilty plea on Friday. Initially considering an insanity defense, Rojas' defense lawyer referred to his client as being in a "psychotic state" at the time of the killings. The next hearing for Jose Rojas is scheduled for December 12. Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Our special guest today is Robert James, award winning LGBTQ filmmaker whose work is steeped in San Francisco culture. His outstanding documentaries, celebrated around the world, often explore themes of queer identity, activism, and community. His films bring to life people and souls who might otherwise be forgotten, but were in their own rights dynamic creative human beings with creative contributions for the world. Today we will be talking about Robert's newest release,“The Unabridged Mrs. Vera's Daybook” which  tells the brilliant story of historic activism, love, and community art through the works of two prolific San Francisco artists, David Faulk and Michael Johnstone, who also happen to be long-term AIDS survivors and extraordinary activists who were instrumental in ACT UP and the NAMES Project (culminating in the March On Washington/installation of Aids Quilt in Washington, D.C.). During one of the darkest periods in US History, these two men decide to bring all the joy and color to a broken community for which an entire movement has emerged. Taking to the streets bedecked in glitter, baubles, and recycled plastic, the two form a cadre of colorful kindred spirits they call Verasphere, lead by the indominable Mrs. Vera.
