The episode begins with the first in line having said "rape" twice. Hedley calls him on it. He says he really likes rape. He is deputized and then the next is asked to step forward. As he is giving his qualifications, it is obvious he is chewing gum. Hedley says, "I hope you brought enough for everybody." The man says he didn't know there would be so many. Hedley immediately shoots him dead. We cut to The Waco Kid and Sheriff Bart. The Kid says, "Boy is he strict." Bart wants to get closer. Jim has an idea upon seeing the two Klansman in their Have a Nice Day robes. Our guests today are Rick Ingham and Dave Pallas. The dolly shot continues down the lines of bad guys all lined up for Hedley's Army. We see bandits and cowboys followed by German WWII soldiers and an aviator who looks just like Mel Brooks. There are other desperadoes mixed in with biker gang members, moonshine runners, plantation owners and Arabian fighters on camel-back. The line wraps up with a pair of Klansman. Behind a boulder, Bart and Jim look over the villainous line of thugs and criminals. As the minute ends, Taggart calls the first man up and Hedley asks for qualifications. The man simply answers, "Rape, murder, arson and rape." Our guests today are Rick Ingham and Dave Pallas. The episode opens with Bart reading the notice Hedley Lamarr is circulating to recruit his army of ne'er-do-wells. Bart says it is the last act of a desperate man. Howard Johnson replies that he doesn't care if it's the first act of Henry the Fifth, they are all leaving. Bart then asks them to give him 24 hours to come up with a brilliant idea to save the town. They all say, "No!" Bart then says, "You'd do it for Randolph Scott." A hush travels through the townspeople. They whisper his name aloud. Suddenly, an unseen choir sings out the name of Randolph Scott as the townsfolk rise up in reverence. Olson Johnson gives the nod to Howard, who tells Bart he's got 24 hours. As the minute comes to an end, we get a slow dolly shot of a line of ruffians waiting to sign up for Hedley's army. Our guest today is Rick Ingham who, along with his wife, Julia, are a New Hampshire-based husband-and-wife podcasting team who began the Mad Max Minute podcast in January 2017. The Indian war leader continues his assessment of the young Sheriff Bart and his family. He cries out to the heavens and then he tells the family it's okay to leave. They all thank him and give the reins a snap to get the horses moving. As they leave the frame, the Indian leader comments to his fellow warriors, "They darker than us! Woof!!" The scene fades back to the jail where Bart finishes his story, only to find Jim has fallen asleep. Bart looks to us and tells us he always likes to keep his audience riveted. As the minute winds down, we have a slow dolly shot across a string of barbed wire. It is at night and we are now moving to the camp of the hired guns for the railroad. Today's guests are Sean German and Dave Pallas. Sean is a host on the Spinal Tap Minute, Groundhog Minute and Five Minutes of Mime and has been a guest on the Indiana Jones Minute and several other movies by minutes podcasts. We open with the Sioux nation riding down upon the wagon train. The white folks circle their wagons, leaving Bart and his parents to circle their own by themselves. Eventually, the only covered wagon left is Bart's family's. An Indian Chief rides up to talk to them along with two other braves. As he notices their dark complexion, the chief immediately says, "Shvartzes! Zeit nisht meshugge." He looks like he may say something else, but that is where the minute comes to an end. Today's guests are Sean German and Dave Pallas. Sean is a host on the Spinal Tap Minute, Groundhog Minute and Five Minutes of Mime and has been a guest on the Indiana Jones Minute and several other movies by minutes podcasts. As Jim takes a drink it is now his turn to get some background. He asks Sheriff Bart how a dazzingly urbanite like him, wound up in a rustic setting like Rock Ridge. As Bart begins to tell his story, the music swells and we get the Blazing Saddles theme done as full orchestra with a heavy western motif. A long line of wagons is heading west along the prairie. Bart explains that in '56, he and his family were part of that wagon train. He then corrects himself. He explains they were not so much a part of it. He says, "You might say we was bringing up the rear." Suddenly, the entire Sioux nation was riding down to attack them. Today's guests are Sean German and Dave Pallas. Sean is a host on the Spinal Tap Minute, Groundhog Minute and Five Minutes of Mime and has been a guest on the Indiana Jones Minute and several other movies by minutes podcasts. Dave is the host of 5 Minutes of Mystery covering the 1999 super-hero ensemble, Mystery Men, and is co-host of Groundhog Minute. He likes Jersey food and board games where you lie to your friends. We are joined by podcast host extraordinaire and multi-creative Heidi Bennett to discuss her pick Four Friends (1981). Rather than the sex comedies prevalent in the early 80s, Heidi found and connected to a more serious coming of age story. Polina and Diana were unfamiliar with the movie, but found the elements that would have attracted our younger sensibilities. Spaceman Spiff is at it again! Space Battles! Ray blasts! Planets! Zounds! Returning guest Sean German (5 Minutes of Mime, Groundhog Day Minute, Spinal Tap Minute) joins Nathan to talk about the best comic strip to come out on Dec 15th, 1985. That's right - it's Calvin and Hobbes.
We begin with Dr. Frankenstein telling his monster he will show him how much he is loved. He promises to teach him to walk and talk and to prove to the world just what an amazing contribution to science he will be! Inga asks if Frederick is okay and he acknowledges by claiming his name is FRANKENSTEIN! We close with a marquee displaying a gathering of notable scientists to see a one-night-only presentation of The Creature. Returning to us as a guest on the Wilder Ride is Sean German, host of Groundhog Minute, co-host of Spinal Tap Minute and creator of Five Minutes of Mime. Sean was last with us during minutes 26-30, where we went from the candle in the bookcase to a freshly dead Igor sitting on the shelf. If you thought he gave a thorough explanation of immortality on the Indiana Jones minute, you haven't heard anything. Today, he delivers his full-on doctoral thesis on the subject.
We continue today's episode with Dr. Frankenstein telling his creature to look at that sweet smile. Once the creature is taken off guard, Frederick continues to flatter the monster until he eventually ends up sitting on his lap. By the end of the minute, it seems as though the young Dr. Frankenstein is building up to a huge revelation about his own existence.
Today's guest is Sean German, my co-host of Groundhog Minute. He also hosts 5 Minutes of Mine and Spinal Tap Minute. Today we talk more diner menu options, crazy super hero costumes, and the Mystery Men connection to Marvel Comics. You can find all his links at http://www.catandsean.org/ Theme song is of course All Star by Smash Mouth.
Having been trapped on the other side of the bookcase, we now begin a series of tests to figure out how to get Dr. Frankenstein back into his own bedroom. Realizing the physics of whatever mechanism controls the movement of the bookcase follows no set pattern, he decides he will use his body to stop it from spinning all the way around. When that fails, it's up to Inga to turn into a linebacker and shove the bookcase around only to find herself trapped on the other side. Our guest on The Wilder Ride is Sean German, who has co-hosted the Spinal Tap Minute and Groundhog Day Minute and is the creator of 5-Minutes of Mime.
