In episode 109 astrologers Kristina Martin and Tara Redfield dance their way into the synastry between pop icon Dua Lipa and her model/actor boyfriend, Callum Turner.   We begin with Dua and see a clear intellectual theme thanks to her curious Gemini Rising and analytical Mercury in Virgo. She is all about learning, analyzing, and using the power of storytelling. These placements provide a strong thirst for knowledge, but can also create mental overload and anxiety.  We also notice her bright and glamorous Sun/Venus conjunction in Leo, however beneath that sparkler there is a darker, more intense side to her coming from a challenging Pluto square.   Next, we talk about Callum's chart and find an unconventional, community-oriented Aquarius Sun paired with a tender and thoughtful Moon/Jupiter trine. In episode 102 astrologers Kristina Martin and Tara Redfield explore a new listener submission and take on the flirting-but-not-yet-a-couple, Spiderman actor Andrew Garfield and Chicken Shop Date creator/host Amelia Dimoldenberg. As August opens, the Sun is in mid-Leo faithfully advancing about one degree per day. Meanwhile, Venus is retrograde, having made a station near the end of Leo back on July 22nd. That means that the Sun is going forward and Venus is going backwards and that they're locked on a collision course. The two finally come together in a conjunction on August 13th. That happens in 20 degrees 28 minutes of Leo. After that, Venus will continue to move backwards until September 3rd, forty-three days after turning retrograde. By that time, the Sun will be well into Virgo.    Built into that ho-hum recitation of dates is one of the most mysterious, elegant mysteries of our solar system: the Venus Pentangle. It will take us a few steps to understand it, starting with the fact there are two distinct types of Sun-Venus conjunctions – inferior ones and superior ones.. Most astrologers, myself included, don't make much of a fuss about their differences, but maybe we should.   Think of an archery target with concentric rings. The Sun is the bull's eye. The first ring out is Mercury's orbit. The second is Venus's orbit. The third one is us. Mars orbits further out in space, so it would be the fourth ring, and so on, out to Pluto and beyond. When Venus is lined up halfway between Earth and the Sun, we have the inferior conjunction. But then sometimes Venus aligns with the Sun from the opposite side of its orbit – that's the superior conjunction. Listen in ... 

In episode 32 astrologers Kristina Martin and Tara Redfield discuss the radical coupling between Mexico's greatest artists, painter Frida Kahlo and muralist Diego Rivera. These two were equally talented and while their relationship was deeply passionate it was also very turbulent.  Looking into Frida's chart we find a prideful Leo Rising, telling us she savored and craved the limelight and also had a generous heart, while her watery Neptune/Sun conjunction perfectly described her dream-like artistic style and ability to let her imagination run free. She also had a strong stellium in the sign of Cancer, telling us that family and emotional safety were very important to her. Meanwhile, Diego's chart shows us a well-traveled and cultured Sun/Venus conjunction in Sagittarius, explaining the big persona he embraced literally and figuratively, while his Mercury/Pluto contact revealed a hyper fixation and focus on his work.  This relationship had a 21-year age gap which reflects square Uranus' in their comparison chart, telling us there was much upheaval, and a distaste for stagnation of any kind! This square also explains their passion and ability to fight together in support of the radical political rebirth of Mexico, but didn't necessarily lend itself to a sustainable, solid relationship. One of the great highlights of their connection were their matching moons, exalted in Taurus, which felt like a homecoming for them both and created powerful affection and sensuality. They also shared matching Mars placements in Capricorn, meaning they both understood and respected each other's work ethic and commitment to their craft.  While there were other positive alignments, there were also some tricky ones...was this relationship the right fit for these two? [3:11] The Sun (Libra 18°41') trines Saturn (Aquarius 18°41') on October 11, 2022 at 6:06 pm PDT, and on October 13th at 11:21 pm PDT, Venus (Libra 18°39') trines Saturn (Aquarius 18°39'). Inspirations from last week's Sun-Venus opposition to Jupiter can become a reality, if you're ready to do the work. [7:18] Also on October 11, 2022 at 10:47 pm PDT, Mars (Gemini 23°21') makes the first of three, square aspects to Neptune (Pisces 23°21'). The second square is on November 19, when Mars is retrograde, and the third on March 14, 2023. Try to step outside your rigorous ideas of time, but be a little bit more cautious when driving this week! [12:58] On October 12, 2022 at 12:24 am PDT, Mercury (Libra 1°40') makes the last of three oppositions (the first was on Sep. 2, the second on Sep. 18) to Jupiter (Aries 1°40'). What was the one thing you felt excited about at the beginning of September, when Mercury first opposed Jupiter? Now is the time to come up with a game plan to figure out where to begin, where it will end up, and the steps in between. [15:43] Moon report!  No major lunation this week because the Last Quarter Moon will fall next week, on October 17th. And so, on to... [16:00] Void-of-Course Moon periods: On October 10th at 7:02 am PDT, the Moon (Aries 26°07') squares Pluto (Capricorn 26°07') and is then void-of-course for about seven hours before entering Taurus (2:04 pm PDT). Practice patience with yourself and others. [17:56] The Moon (Taurus 26°07') trines Pluto (Capricorn 26°07') on October 12th at 2:42 pm PDT. It's then void-of-course for about seven and a half hours before entering Gemini at 10:08 pm PDT. Learning how to be grownups requires self-discipline and accepting the realities of getting things done in the world, and the Moon in Taurus harmonizes with that objective.
