As a young mom, I felt the tension of wanting to have it all together: the boys in matching outfits, the house spotless, and dinner on the table. But no matter how hard I tried, it always felt just out of reach. Today, Ashleigh Surratt joins me to talk about what it means to be a Type C mom — a blend of Type A and Type B — and how this mix shapes the way we experience motherhood. She is a mom and faith-filled encourager who speaks honestly about motherhood, identity, and finding God's grace in the messiest seasons of life. Her perspective helps moms release perfectionism and embrace the freedom found in authenticity. We talk about: How to stop comparing yourself and embrace what truly matters to you How “ideal mom” expectations can become an idol Why authenticity and vulnerability invite connection rather than shame Create simple “catch-all” systems to manage chaos in your home When you feel drained, pause and invite God into the overwhelm Connect with Ashleigh Surratt: Instagram: Ashleigh Surratt (@ashleigh.surratt) Facebook: Ashleigh Surratt Links Mentioned: The Lazy Genius The Ashleigh Surratt Show - Podcast - Apple Podcasts Podcast with her husband Related Episodes: Manage Your Time Like a Lazy Genius :: Kendra Adachi [Ep 492] The Lazy Genius Kitchen :: Kendra Adachi [Ep 365] Choose What Matters to YOU :: Kendra Adachi [Ep 293] Featured Sponsors: Honeylove: Treat yourself or someone special to the most comfortable and innovative bras on earth this holiday season. Episode 103 Type B Energy & Packing My Eggs on the Edge In this week's Trusting Dorothy podcast, we're redefining what it means to “live on the edge.” Explore Type A vs Type B, self-trust, and evolving your rules to live your most abundant life. This week, Dorothy shares a light hearted and reflective look at living life on the edge... exploring how our definitions of “bold,” “structured,” and “successful” evolve as we do. In this episode, you'll discover: Why being “Type B” gets a bad rap, and why we actually need more of that energy. How life experiences (like motherhood, teaching, and entrepreneurship) can soften a Type A edge. The power of learning the rules before you break them, in Pilates, business, and life. Why evolving from structure to flow doesn't mean losing ambition, it means gaining trust. How to redefine “living on the edge” to fit your version of freedom, creativity, and joy. "Maybe living on the edge isn't about being reckless, it's about knowing yourself so well that you can trust your own edges.”

How much effort is enough—for you and your students? In this episode, I'm weaving together three listener questions about navigating effort, expectations, and balance. We'll explore how to recognize whether you lean more toward Type A (overextending) or Type B (holding back) tendencies, and how to make small, mindful adjustments so you're not burning out—or stagnating. You'll hear practical advice for: Reworking your expectations of yourself during seasons of low energy, burnout, or chronic illness. Knowing when to give yourself permission to do less, and when to gently push yourself to do more. Supporting students who either overextend or under-extend themselves without trying to individualize every message for every learner. The takeaway? A simple framework you and your students can use to calibrate effort in healthier, more sustainable ways. Because your impact as a teacher isn't about doing more—it's about doing what matters most.

A silent danger lurks within the descending thoracic aorta. While most Type B aortic dissections are managed medically, up to half of these patients will either require life-saving surgery or die within just five years. So how do we separate those who will quietly recover from those on the edge of catastrophe? How do we protect the spinal cord, bowel, and limbs from the devastating consequences of malperfusion? Join the University of Michigan Department of Vascular Surgery as they tackle the high-stakes decisions behind managing this unpredictable disease—where timing is critical, interventions are evolving, and lives hang in the balance. Hosted by the University of Michigan Department of Vascular Surgery: · Robert Beaulieu, Program Director · Frank Davis, Assistant Professor of Surgery · Luciano Delbono, PGY-5 House Officer · Andrew Huang, PGY-4 House Officer · Carolyn Judge, PGY-2 House Officer Learning Objectives: 1. Discuss general approach to diagnosis and management of TBAD. 2. Identifying high-risk features in uncomplicated TBAD and understanding their role in determining the need for surgical management. 3. Review endovascular techniques for managing malperfusion of the limbs, viscera, and spinal cord and discuss associated decision making. Send us a textStefania Grimaldi works with the social cooperative La Collina in Trieste Italy. This particular social cooperative was formed in 1988 and employees 200 people, 35 percent of which are considered “disadvantaged.” In this episode, we briefly explore the origins of the social cooperative network in Trieste – starting with the first one called the Basaglia SC, which was features recently in a movie called 50 Years of CLU. We explore the two different types of social cooperatives – Type A and Type B. In particular, we are interested in the Type B social cooperative because e they train and employ people who fall int the disadvantaged sector – which can involve physical and mental disability, substance use addiction and past experience with incarceration. What is interesting is how the social cooperative must operate like a business and coimpete in the market place to secure contracts to provide labor and services. La Collina will be competing with other private entities – and therefore their workforce must be up to the job. We explore their pathway to work which involves mentoring and internship before full employment status is achieved. The cost of the internship is underwritten by the health agency, ASUGI. The take-aways for an American audience are threefold:· Work is a human right, guaranteed by the UN Declaration of Human Rights and the Convention on Rights for Persons with Disabilities. · So-called disadvantaged workers can achieve full employment and pursue their life aspirations· The proper supports must be in place to ensure people are trained and prepared to pursue their employment goals

As a Type B habit coach with ADHD tendencies, I've lived the breathless, apologetic life of chronic lateness—and I finally figured out why.In this episode, I unpack: • The hidden role of time blindness • The shame cycle & myths about lateness • Practical fixes (like the 10-minute rule & the perfect “running late” text) • How I became on-time-ish after a lifetime of struggleWhether you're always late or love someone who is, this episode offers compassion, mindset shifts, and habits that work with your brain—not against it.
This week on Motherish, our friend Meesh Parks joined us for a real, unfiltered conversation about what it really means to be a "Type B mom." From managing anxiety to redefining expectations, Karen opens up about her transition from a Type A approach to a more relaxed mindset. Pamela shares why she's embraced her Type B side from the start—because motherhood demands grace, not perfection. Whether you're Type A, B, or somewhere in between, this episode is a reminder that there's no one right way to be a great mom.

This week on the podcast, Hallie and Katie recap their Mother's Day weekend. Katie is happy to report that her girls were surprisingly easy and well-behaved at brunch. She also opens up about Emma's 9-month doctor's visit and has some words of encouragement and solidarity for any mama who is feeling anxiety over their little ones hitting their milestones.Meanwhile, Hallie is playing a little game called, "Do I have long COVID or am I just a tired mom?" The mom-of-two jokes that her memory is so bad these days that she actually had to check her calendar app to fact-check the year (she was convinced it was 2026). Katie admits she's experiencing the same brain fog, and the ladies wonder if their moms felt this way when they were in the thick of raising littles, or if the invention of the smartphone is to blame for our short attention spans and forgetfulness.Hallie and Katie also weigh in on a new parenting trend that's going viral on social media: Type C Parenting. The term was coined by TikTok creator Ashleigh Surratt and plays off the familiar Type A and Type B personalities. Type A is highly organized, structured, and punctual. Type B tends to be more relaxed, spontaneous, and flexible. Type C parents? They're a mashup of both. The ladies reveal their Type C moments and admit that while they are historically Type A personalities, they like the freedom that Type C parenting permits.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

WHAT YOU'LL HEAR: The real reason time management doesn't work for moms and creatives Why “after this week it'll calm down” is a lie we keep believing The story of my Great Tuesday Meltdown (aka the peanut butter floor moment) What time stewardship actually means—and why it's more freeing than control How to create a planning rhythm that supports your life instead of suffocating it Simple daily, weekly, and monthly check-ins to realign without starting from scratch TOOLS + MENTIONS
I am very much a Type B person, but sometimes I find myself wishing I was more Type A and desire more, structure, determination and organization. While Type B people have their own strengths they can also struggle with things like time management, goal setting, and prioritization. In today's episode I share small shift you can make if you're a type B person that want's to adopt some Type A tendencies. It can often feel like being Type A is glorified but I want to make sure my fellow Type B people know that one type isn't better than the other; they're just different. I find it helpful to tap into that Type A energy when I need to and be Type B when it helps. Personal growth isn't about changing who you are it's about evolving into the best version of you. On this week's show we look at a technology that could end HDMI. We also read your emails and take a look at the week's news. News: Sony steps away from 8K TVs – for now Survey: Share of Homes With TV Antennas Falls to 19% DIRECTV unites streaming options under one name and price structure Peacock highlights cool features for mobile users Other: AUBESS Tuya WiFi 16A Mini Smart Switch Is GPMI the beginning of the end of HDMI? Over 50 Chinese companies including Hisense and TCL have joined forces to back an HDMI alternative called GPMI (General Purpose Media Interface). This new wired communication standard is designed to integrate multiple functionalities into a single cable, aiming to rival HDMI, DisplayPort, and Thunderbolt. The following are some key features: High Bandwidth for Data Transmission - GPMI Type-B: Supports up to 192 Gbps bandwidth, significantly surpassing HDMI 2.1 (48 Gbps), HDMI 2.2 (96 Gbps), DisplayPort 2.1 (80 Gbps), and Thunderbolt 4 (40 Gbps). GPMI Type-C: Offers up to 96 Gbps, compatible with USB-C ports, doubling the 40 Gbps limit of USB4 with Extended Power Range (EPR) under USB PD 3.1. Enables ultra-high-definition video - including 8K at 120Hz or higher, suitable for next-generation displays, gaming, and professional applications. Power Delivery GPMI Type-B: Delivers up to 480W of power, far exceeding Thunderbolt 4 (100W) and USB4 (240W with EPR). GPMI Type-C: Provides up to 240W, matching USB4 EPR capabilities. This eliminates the need for separate power cables - simplifying setups for devices like TVs, monitors, and gaming laptops. All-in-One Cable Solution - Combines video, audio, data transfer, network connectivity, and power delivery into a single cable, reducing cable clutter. Supports bidirectional data transfer - allowing devices to send and receive data simultaneously. Compatibility and Connectivity - GPMI Type-C: Licensed by the USB Implementers Forum ensuring compatibility with existing USB-C ecosystems for smartphones, PCs, and TVs. GPMI Type-B: Uses a proprietary connector, which may face adoption challenges unless widely licensed. Backward-compatible with USB-C and DisplayPort standards - easing transitions without requiring immediate hardware replacements. Universal Control and Device Management - Supports a universal control standard similar to HDMI-CEC, allowing a single remote to control multiple GPMI-connected devices Security Features - Integrates the ADCP (Advanced Digital Content Protection) protocol for secure content transmission. Supports daisy-chaining - similar to DisplayPort, for connecting multiple devices in series. Limitations and Notes While GPMI supports 8K video, HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1 can handle higher resolutions (10K and 16K, respectively), though without power delivery. Adoption is currently limited to Chinese companies (e.g., Huawei, Hisense, TCL), and global traction depends on integration into mainstream devices and compatibility with non-Chinese brands like Sony, Intel, or NVIDIA. The proprietary Type-B connector may face adoption hurdles compared to the USB-C-based Type-C variant. Commercialization is planned for Q1 2025, with consumer products expected by early 2026. GPMI's combination of high bandwidth, power delivery, and multifunctionality positions it as a potential game-changer, particularly for 8K content and simplified connectivity, though its success hinges on widespread adoption and global market acceptance.

We've all heard of Type A and Type B, but Type C is common to many women and can harm our health if taken too far. Here's a set of common Type C behaviors: -Being overly conscientious and responsible-Carrying others' burdens-Not setting sufficient personal boundaries-Wanting to please others-Avoiding conflict-Internalizing toxic emotionsIt sounds familiar, right? Unfortunately, this “pathological niceness” is scientifically linked to disease. At 'Type C Toolbox,' Dr. Kore Nissenson Glied and Anna White's mission is to build awareness, offer guidance and strategies, create community, connect women, and encourage further learning.
