(00:00) Masters Golf Tournament Drama and Analysis This chapter brings you an exhilarating discussion about the thrilling conclusion of the Masters, where Rory McIlroy clinched victory. We recount the nerve-wracking moments on the 18th green, highlighting Rory's missed putt in regulation and the pressure-laden five-footer in the playoff. The conversation shifts to praise for Jim Nance, whose silence during the climactic moment allowed the emotion of the scene to resonate. We also reflect on the sportsmanship of Justin Rose, who, despite wanting to win, was mindful of his friendship with Rory and the significance of the occasion. This exploration of the tournament's high drama captures the essence of golf's emotional rollercoaster and the gentlemanly conduct of its players. (16:18) Golf Swing Improvement Tips This chapter addresses common misconceptions in golf swings, emphasizing the importance of understanding the real issues behind hitting thin shots. We explore how many golfers misdiagnose their swing problems due to myths, such as the need to keep the head down, which leads to unnecessary tension. By focusing on relaxing the arms and understanding the true goal—hitting the ground properly—we highlight exercises like hitting a penny or a tee to improve swing accuracy. By shifting focus away from myths and onto practical techniques, we encourage golfers to concentrate on playing the game rather than overanalyzing their swing. The chapter concludes by discussing the negative impact of stress on performance and the importance of staying relaxed to achieve better results on the course. (33:19) Topgolf Fun and Junior Golf Interest This chapter is all about the joys and lessons learned from a day out at Topgolf with my four-year-old grandson. I recount the story of how a simple TV commercial sparked my grandson's interest in golf, leading to a fun-filled outing where the focus was more on enjoyment than technique. I reflect on the importance of letting kids explore activities on their terms, emphasizing that fun and curiosity should be at the heart of learning. By allowing my grandson to swing the club in his unique way and simply enjoy the experience, we created a memorable day that might inspire a lasting interest in golf. The episode underscores the idea that fostering a love for the game should be prioritized over pushing for technical perfection, highlighting the magic that happens when kids are allowed to learn through play. (42:27) Indoor Golf Technology Advancements This chapter explores the exciting world of indoor golf, particularly focusing on the innovative league created by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. We highlight the unique features of this league, such as the use of simulators and synthetic greens that can alter contours, providing a realistic golfing experience even indoors. The discussion touches on how the integration of advanced technology has significantly enhanced indoor golf, with improvements in ball flight tracking, club analysis, and graphics. This evolution makes it a great time to be a golfer, whether you're a seasoned player or just getting started. We encourage listeners to embrace the new advancements in golf, dust off their clubs, and enjoy the sport, whether indoors or outdoors, and to consider taking lessons to enhance their skills.

Welcome to The Golfing Mind, where we delve into the psychological aspects behind golf's most iconic moments. In this episode, we turn our attention with a forensic look into the 2025 Masters Tournament, where Rory McIlroy achieved his long-awaited career Grand Slam, overcoming immense pressure and mental hurdles. McIlroy's journey to donning the green jacket was marked by resilience and mental fortitude. After 16 previous attempts, he finally triumphed at Augusta, defeating Justin Rose in a dramatic playoff. His victory was not just a testament to his skill but also to his ability to confront and manage the psychological demands of the game. McIlroy employed a unique strategy to combat performance anxiety: visualising worst-case scenarios to prepare for any outcome mentally. Throughout the tournament, McIlroy maintained an intense focus, even choosing not to engage with his playing partner, Bryson DeChambeau, during the final round—a deliberate tactic advised by his sports psychologist, Bob Rotella, to stay immersed in his own game. This mental discipline allowed him to navigate the pressures of the course and the weight of expectations. Join us as we analyse the mental strategies that led to McIlroy's historic win and examine how other players in the field managed the psychological challenges of the Masters. www.siegergolf.com Learn more about your ad choices. On this special Masters Post Game edition of Next on the Tee, we look back on an unforgettable week at Augusta National, both from the grounds and from the booth. I kick things off by recapping the final round of the Augusta National Women's Amateur, where Spain's Carla Bernat Escuder fired a final round 68 to capture the title by one shot over 16-year-old American Asterisk Talley. I also spotlight standout performances by rising stars Eila Galitsky and Lottie Woad—young talents whose names we're sure to hear more in the years to come. Then it's on to one of the most thrilling Masters final rounds in recent memory, as Rory McIlroy overcame ghosts of past collapses, a double on 13, and a missed opportunity on 18 to ultimately defeat Justin Rose in a dramatic playoff. With that win, Rory became just the sixth player in history to complete the career Grand Slam. My guests and I walk through every twist and turn of Rory's journey and what this victory means for his legacy. I welcome back two fan favorites to break it all down—Resident Director of Instruction Tom Patri and 17-time winner between the PGA & Champions Tours Mark Calcavecchia. Calc takes us back to his own near miss at Augusta and the shot by Sandy Lyle that denied him a green jacket. Together, we talk about the magic of this year's tournament, from Rory immediately losing his lead on the first hole, gaining it back 2 holes later, losing it again on 13, more missed putts, throwing it away on 18 and ultimately getting the gorilla off his back. We also preview what's ahead for the rest of the major season. Thank you for pressing play and taking the journey with us.

Andy and Brendan are back at home after a week in Georgia but still reflecting on what Brendan has deemed "the greatest Masters" of his life. This episode unpacks some of the more emotional elements surrounding Rory's win and subsequent completion of the career slam. The two discuss how Rory's sustained relevance in majors without a win could parallel to struggles in any person's life before comparing McIlroy's current career standing with Phil Mickelson's. Andy wonders what Justin Rose is doing to prepare for majors given his performance in weekly PGA Tour events and also demands apologies from the Corey Conners contingent who were not pleased with his takes last week. Picks are made for the RBC Heritage as this gambling podcast looks to stay hot after picking another winner last week. PJ then hosts a lengthy round of In-Out-Alternate for this week's alternate field event in PuntaCana, featuring some SGS favorites and plenty of winners from the early 2010s. Brendan wraps things up with some quick bits of news, including a "creator" exemption into the 'Cuda, before heading off to Disney World, where Rory may or may not be celebrating his Masters win.

Will Doctor gives you the sharpest card for week 16 at the RBC Heritage & Corales Puntacana Championship! -Reviewing Rory completing the grand slam at the 89th Masters -Discussing top 8 at Heritage -1 matchup -2 t10's -3 outrights (+475, 50/1, 90/1) -Sleeper, 2 lineups, scoring, best bet -2 FRL for Corales -2 outrights for Corales -1 t10 for Corales The transcript begins with host Will Docter reacting to Rory McIlroy's landmark Masters victory, completing the career Grand Slam and joining an elite group of six. Mike Tirico's emotional broadcast is cited, capturing McIlroy's on-course collapse in tears. Rory's press conference reflects on inspiration from Tiger Woods, struggles throughout the day, and mental strength, particularly after early double bogeys. A note from Ángel Cabrera added a sentimental touch. Rory's rounds of 72, 66, 66, and 73 included four double bogeys—no past Masters winner had ever overcome as many. Docter notes Rory's final round featured both mistakes and immediate recoveries, such as birdies following doubles and clutch iron shots, particularly a hook 7-iron on the 15th hole. Despite sloppy play off the tee and below-average putting, his elite approach and short game, backed by years of mental training, led him to victory over contenders like Justin Rose, who shot a 66 on Sunday to force a playoff but fell short. The loss marked Rose's second defeat in a Masters playoff. Docter transitions to a betting review, citing a 12.6-unit loss on the Masters, part of a 74.6-unit deficit on the season. Key misfires included failed bets on Sepp Straka and Tom Hoge, both below-average chippers—highlighting a key error in strategy at Augusta. Ludwig Åberg nearly contended until a late collapse; Collin Morikawa's first-round falter also ruined early bets. Sungjae Im was a bright spot with a fifth-place finish. Doctor criticizes his overreliance on players with poor short games and reviews each ticket, including failed first-round bets and frustrating near misses like Shane Lowry, who imploded with an 81 on Sunday. Shifting to the RBC Heritage at Harbor Town, Docter details the course as favoring accurate drivers, sharp approach play from 150–175 yards, and strong Bermuda putting. He reviews top favorites. Scheffler (+425) is a strong pick, showing consistent elite form and success at Harbor Town last year. Morikawa, Henley, and Fleetwood are dismissed due to poor putting. Corey Conners and Åberg are borderline due to form and past finishes. Schauffele is in good form but not elite in the critical approach range. Cantlay and Fleetwood are passed due to inconsistent recent play. A key matchup pick is Ryan Gerard over Adam Scott, citing Scott's issues with driving and putting. Gerard is also the sleeper pick to top 20. Two “picks to place” include Schauffele top 10 (+120), based on elite approach numbers and improving putting, and JT Poston top 10 (+375), with recent putting resurgence and three top-10s at Harbor Town. Outright picks include Scheffler, Berger (50:1), praised for driving accuracy and course history, and Bud Cauley (90:1), with recent top-5 finishes and elite stats in the target range. Fantasy lineups are provided for DraftKings and PGA.com platforms, with lineups built around Scheffler, Schauffele, Im, Berger, Poston, and Cauley. The predicted winning score is 19-under. The best bet is Sungjae Im as top Asian (+160), citing strong course history and lack of serious competition beyond Ryo Hisatsune. For Corrales, Mitchell (28:1) and Hall (33:1) are first-round leader picks based on scoring averages. Outright bets are Packieter and Cootie at 45:1, while Alejandro Tosti is selected to top 10 at +333 based on form despite putting concerns. The podcast wraps with reminders of betting value and expectations heading into the next week. Predicted winning score: 19-under-par at RBC Heritage. It may be the final A-Day for the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Auburn Tigers so, what did we learn at both places? Alabama Football has a quarterback battle…or do they? Auburn Football has the receiver room, do they have the quarterback to get it to them? Did we watch A-Day die right in front of us? Speaking of quarterbacks, The Tennessee Volunteers are now without their returning starter after Tennessee Football and Nico Iamaleava had a very public divorce. The QB is now in the portal looking for a new home and Volunteers Head Coach Josh Heupel is getting praised for taking a hard line stance with his former starter. What really happened with Iamaleava and what is his real market value? Did he really hold out before the College Football Playoff game at The Ohio State Buckeyes? Ohio State Football made him look as if he did, in fact, hold out. Reminder: He can not play right away at any SEC school. But, the College Football Portal does open on Wednesday, should we expect any Alabama Football or Auburn Football activity? Rumor has it that Oregon Ducks coach Dan Lanning was the coach that tipped off Josh Heupel. If so, would there be any recruiting impact for the Oregon Football coach? Insanity: Reports say to build a Top Ten College Basketball roster, you now need $10 Million! Alabama Basketball loses another player in the Portal, Derrion Reid is in the Portal now. One former Bama player finds his new home. Jarin Stevenson is off to the North Carolina Tar Heels. Alabama Basketball coach Nate Oats is being mentioned as a candidate for The Denver Nuggets, is there a draw to the pros for the Alabama coach? ESPN’s Rece Davis just became the beneficiary of the College Football Pregame Show war. A Friend of the Show cashes in! The Masters wrapped up over the weekend in historic fashion with Rory McIlroy finishing off the career Grand Slam becoming only the 6th golfer in history to accomplish that feat. McIlroy won in a thrilling final round that included a one hole sudden death playoff win over Justin Rose who had stormed back to tie the lead.Visit the TNR store: https://nextround.store/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
