The U.S. capture of Venezuelan strongman Nicolás Maduro marks one of the most consequential unilateral actions Washington has taken in the Western Hemisphere in decades. Chris and Matt unpack what actually happened, why it matters, and how this operation tests long-standing assumptions about sovereignty, precedent, and America's role abroad—especially in a world where rivals are watching closely. They then turn to the death of Aldrich Ames, reflecting on how the CIA's most damaging traitor reshaped U.S. intelligence, shattered trust from the inside, and still serves as a cautionary tale about institutional blind spots, complacency, and the enduring cost of betrayal.Subscribe and share to stay ahead in the world of intelligence, global issues, and current affairs.Support Secrets and SpiesBecome a “Friend of the Podcast” on Patreon for £3/$4: https://www.patreon.com/SecretsAndSpiesBuy merchandise from our Redbubble shop: https://www.redbubble.com/shop/ap/60934996Buy us a coffee: https://buymeacoffee.com/secretsandspiesSubscribe to our YouTube page: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDVB23lrHr3KFeXq4VU36dgFor more information about the podcast, check out our website: https://secretsandspiespodcast.comArticles discussed in today's episode"Bold Delta Force raid leads to capture and arrest of Maduro" by Jack Murphy | The High Side: https://thehighside.substack.com/p/bold-delta-force-raid-leads-to-capture"A Close Call for US Commandos and an Emboldened Trump" by Eric Schmitt, Greg Jaffe | The New York Times: https://www.nytimes.com/2026/01/07/us/politics/trump-venezuela-helicopter.html"Trump's ‘American Dominance' May Leave Us With Nothing" by Anne Applebaum | The Atlantic: https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/01/trumps-american-dominance-may-leave-us-with-nothing/685503/"Trump's seizure of Maduro raises thorny legal questions" by Kayla Epstein | BBC News: https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cr4krkz7242oDOJ Indictment of Maduro: https://www.justice.gov/opa/media/1422326/dl"Aldrich Ames, C.I.A. Chris Feistl spent 26 years working for the DEA, including three years in Colombia during the 1990s, helping take down one of the most powerful drug empires in history — the Cali Cartel. His real-life work was portrayed in Narcos: Season 3, but the truth behind the show is even wilder. From undercover operations to high-stakes cartel takedowns, he witnessed firsthand the danger, corruption, and chaos of the war on drugs. Over his career, he earned the DEA Award of Honor, Award for Exceptional Service, and multiple Performance Awards for his role in international investigations. In this exclusive interview, he opens up about what really happened in Colombia, how Narcos got it right (and wrong), and what it was like to spend decades hunting some of the world's most dangerous traffickers. #LockedInWithIanBick #DEAAgent #Narcos #CaliCartel #TrueCrime #DrugCartel #NarcosNetflix #realstories Thank you to BLUECHEW for sponsoring this episode: Visit https://bluechew.com/ and use promo code LOCKEDIN at checkout to get your first month of BlueChew & pay five bucks for shipping. Humble Heart & Gratitude Expressing honor and gratitude for the opportunity to serve the Lord. Acknowledging a "big old humble heart" and constant thoughts of people and Jesus. Expressing gratitude for being saved, recognizing it as an undeserved act of grace. Saved at 38, felt lost before salvation. Mark Chapter 5 & Personal Connection Reading from Mark chapter 5, focusing on Legion. Brother Tommy asked to speak Tuesday morning. Prayed about the message, feeling a connection to Legion. Recognizing a past behavior mirroring Legion's self-harm. Cutting self with razor blades as a teenager (17-18 years old). Devil trying to "kill, steal, and destroy." Encounters with Evil Recounting three experiences of feeling strangled while asleep. First at 18 at dad's place, felt someone on chest, could not breathe. Saying "Jesus" three times stopped it. Second time at home before being called to preach. Again, saying "Jesus" three times stopped it. Third time, saw a black demon sitting on chest, choking. Demon described as black with scaly skin and large black wings. Not scared this time, realized the demon was trying to prevent future ministry. Devil's Tactics & Vulnerable Targets The devil targets the vulnerable, like babies or weak church members. The devil seeks easy prey, those easily swayed or killed spiritually. The devil uses the weakest link in the church to cause division. Awareness is crucial to resist the devil's influence. Personal vulnerability to returning to self-harm ("cutting arms") if yielding to the devil. Close Calls & Divine Intervention Recounting incidents where divine intervention prevented potential disasters. Drag racing incident where a truck stopped unexpectedly. Driving through a field in a 73 Dodge Charger at night and narrowly avoiding a tree. Realizing the danger but still not listening to God. Fighting the Devil with Scripture Cannot fight the devil spiritually. Emphasizing the need to use scripture against the devil, as Jesus did. Devils bow down to Jesus. Legion's Story & Personal Reflection Relating to Legion's torment and self-harm. Remembering cutting self and apologizing to the Lord. Acknowledging God's repeated rescue from dangerous situations. Driving a mixer truck on a mountain, fearing it wouldn't make it. Praying for help and reaching safe ground. The Power of Jesus & Transformation Legion recognized Jesus and worshipped him. The devil knows who Jesus is. Jesus cast out the demons from Legion into swine. Two thousand swine ran into the sea. Legion, now in his right mind, wanted to follow Jesus. Jesus instructed him to share his story with his community. Living a Transformed Life Expressing a commitment to staying "in the boat" with Jesus. Refusing to tolerate sinful behavior in personal space ("my house"). Avoiding involvement with friends engaged in harmful activities (drinking, drugging). Recognizing the heavy price paid for salvation. Repenting from sins and not letting them accumulate. Prioritizing God's will over worldly desires. The Preciousness of Ministry Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to preach God's word. Desiring to continue preaching about salvation and the promise of eternal life. Acknowledging God's goodness and the transformative power of salvation. Quitting bad habits and starting a life for Jesus. Family & Faith Family members talking behind back about going to church all the time. Celebrating family members getting saved, including son and granddaughter. Prayers are heard by God. The Danger of Turning Away The worst thing is knowing the righteousness of God and walking away from it. Sharing the story of mother's 42-year backslide due to disobedience. Describing a difficult childhood marked by tension and fear.

Norm laces up his hiking boots for one of the Cowboys' toughest climbs yet — a trip to Denver, where the air is thin and the pass rush is thick. In this episode of Just Wondering, Norm breaks down the brutal matchup between Dallas and the Broncos, spotlighting a defense that leads the league in sacks and a young quarterback, Bo Nix, who's learning how to win ugly. With stats, storytelling, and a dash of nostalgia, Norm revisits the Cowboys' last win in Denver — thirty-three years ago — complete with Jimmy Johnson's halftime rage and a Charles Haley scolding for the ages. Reports surfaced this week that Sean “Diddy” Combs allegedly woke up in his Brooklyn jail cell with a knife pressed against his throat, a claim first made by one of his longtime friends, Charlucci Finney. According to Finney, the mogul was asleep when another inmate entered his cell and held a sharpened object to his neck before a correctional officer intervened just in time. Finney said the incident wasn't random—he believes it was a message, “an act of intimidation,” meant to send a warning rather than kill. Though Diddy reportedly escaped unharmed, the story immediately spread across outlets like Page Six, The Blast, and HotNewHipHop, stirring speculation about the circumstances and the level of protection—or lack thereof—afforded to such a high-profile inmate.toc ontact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Sean 'Diddy' Combs 'woke up with a knife to his throat' in prison attack, friend claims

In this week's episode, our storytellers face life-or-death moments they'll never forget.Part 1: On a trip to Colombia for a research conference, biologist Stephanie Galla must rely on her fight-or-flight instincts when she is cornered by a mugger with a knife. Part 2: An ordinary day takes a shocking turn when Kim Weaver is struck by lightning. Stephanie Galla is an Assistant Professor in avian biology at Boise State University. She is interested in interdisciplinary conservation efforts for species in decline, and in particular, how genomic technologies can inform management decisions. Using DNA, her research team explores whether birds (including grouse and raptors) have the adaptive capacity to be resilient in a changing world. Outside of her everyday work life, she enjoys bird watching, making art, taking care of her backyard chickens, and watching TV with her husband and cat. Kim Weaver is a long-time storyteller and occasional guest host at Story Night in Bremerton, but she cut her storytelling chops as a high school math and engineering teacher. (No matter how much you heckle, you will not be as brutal as a room full of Algebra I students.) She has also told plenty of ocean tales as a Science Communication Fellow aboard the E/V Nautilus. Kim lives in Poulsbo, Washington where her primary role is meeting the demands of a high-maintenance corgi named Bird, but her actual job is providing STEM and EdTech support to teachers throughout the Kitsap and Olympic peninsulas.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

This follows their GenAI course that attracted 280,000 learners, with curriculum covering agent architectures, tools, memory systems, and production deployment. The course focuses on building autonomous AI agents and multi-agent systems, which represents a shift from traditional single-model AI to systems that can independently perform tasks, make decisions, and interact with tools and APIs. This development signals growing enterprise interest in AI agents for cloud environments, where autonomous systems can manage infrastructure, optimize resources, and handle complex workflows without constant human intervention. The hands-on approach includes codelabs and a capstone project, indicating Google’s push to democratize agent development skills as businesses increasingly need engineers who can build production-ready autonomous systems. The timing aligns with major cloud providers racing to offer agent-based services, as AI agents become essential for automating cloud operations, customer service, and business processes at scale. What do you do when your Humvee gets rocked by an IED blast… and a suspicious car creeps toward you through the dust? Most people freeze. Navy Corpsman Noi Dumpit didn't. He confronted the driver — thinking it could be his last moment — and somehow chose not to pull the trigger. In this episode of Urban Valor, Noi relives the chaos of Fallujah, where life and death blurred by the second. He breaks down the day his Humvee was launched into the air by a vehicle-borne IED, and the surreal moment that followed when he faced a possible suicide bomber. But the IED blast was only one chapter. Noi also opens up about his post-deployment struggles, the moral confusion of letting terrorists through checkpoints, and how martial arts eventually became his path to healing. From battlefield trauma to rebuilding a business back home, this story is raw, real, and unforgettable.
