Marisa Serafini (@serafinitv) and I are book lovers and we've decided to do a monthly in-depth book discussion. Our 12th book is They Both Die At The End, written by Adam Silvera, and next month we'll be chatting about NK Jemisin's The World We Make. What's They Both Die At The End about? "On September 5, a little after midnight, Death-Cast calls Mateo Torrez and Rufus Emeterio to give them some bad news: They're going to die today. Mateo and Rufus are total strangers, but, for different reasons, they're both looking to make a new friend on their End Day. The good news: There's an app for that. It's called the Last Friend, and through it, Rufus and Mateo are about to meet up for one last great adventure—to live a lifetime in a single day." Thanks for tuning in. Also, feel free to ask questions or offer opinions of your own, whether down in the comment section or by hitting me up on social media @PhilSvitek. They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera is a story about two boys who received a call from an organization called the death cast and were notified that today would be the day they die, so they need to fit a lifetime in 24 hours or less. This story includes romance, adventure, and excitement and is a very nice read, although the ending may ruin your day. The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes is a book about a smart girl named Avery Grambs who was left a giant fortune of 46.2 billion dollars from a man named Tobias hawthorn, but here is the catch she has never met him, or has she? She must answer the mystery that Tobias left for her and his 4 grandsons to figure out why he left her his fortune, all while dealing with the issues this inheritance has made her face. This book includes romance, adventure, mystery solving, and a few riddles, once it draws you into its pages it may not let you escape until you have finished the series and are left reeling for meaning for life. Raising The Horseman by Serena Valentino is a novel about a young girl named Katrina Van Tassel, she loves books and doesn't believe in ghosts or the story her town of Sleepy Hollow treasures. The night of the first Katrina's rest, she gets dragged to a party and makes a new friend before attempting to arise her long dead relative when the ghost of the headless horseman seems to be summoned. She needs to reexamine what she has believed in for so long, while reading the diary of the first Katrina, only to learn their lives were very similar. This story includes romance, fun, friendship along with some toxic relationships, and a self discovery. All of these books have LGBTQ+ representation and 2/3 have a fair amount of feminism, I hope you enjoy them as much as I did and have a good day or night.

Marisa Serafini (@serafinitv) and I are book lovers and we've decided to do a monthly in-depth book discussion. Our 11th book is The Word For World Is Forest's, written by Ursula K Le Guin, and next month we'll be chatting about Adam Silvera's They Both Die At The End. What's The Word For World Is Forest about? "The Word for World Is Forest is a science fiction novella by American writer Ursula K. Le Guin, first published in the United States in 1972 as a part of the anthology Again, Dangerous Visions, and published as a separate book in 1976 by Berkley Books. It is part of Le Guin's Hainish Cycle. The story focuses on a military logging colony set up on the fictional planet of Athshe by people from Earth (referred to as "Terra"). The colonists have enslaved the completely non-aggressive native Athsheans, and treat them very harshly. Eventually, one of the natives, whose wife was raped and killed by a Terran military captain, leads a revolt against the Terrans, and succeeds in getting them to leave the planet. However, in the process their own peaceful culture is introduced to mass violence for the first time. The novel carries strongly anti-colonial and anti-militaristic overtones, driven partly by Le Guin's negative reaction to the Vietnam War. It also explores themes of sensitivity to the environment, and of connections between language and culture. It shares the theme of dreaming with Le Guin's novel The Lathe of Heaven, and the metaphor of the forest as a consciousness with the story "Vaster than Empires and More Slow". The novella won the Hugo Award in 1973, and was nominated for several other awards. It received generally positive reviews from reviewers and scholars, and was variously described as moving and hard-hitting. Several critics, however, stated that it compared unfavorably with Le Guin's other works such as The Left Hand of Darkness, due to its sometimes polemic tone and lack of complex characters." Thanks for tuning in. Also, feel free to ask questions or offer opinions of your own, whether down in the comment section or by hitting me up on social media @PhilSvitek. Book Review: Adam Silvera’s THEY BOTH DIE AT THE END
Hey everyone! This week we delve into Adam Silvera's (heartbreaking) story They Both Die At The End. This is part 1 of 2. Get ready for some feelings yall!
Here's a preview of what's to come this Friday, March 16th! This week we will be discussing They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera, a wicked story about changing your whole life in just one day!
This week on the MashReads Podcast, we chat with YA superstar Marie Lu about her new novel Warcross as well as her upcoming YA adaptation of Batman, Batman: Nightwalkers. Marie recommends Force of a Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao. "It is a fantastic, East Asian retelling of the Snow White story but from the Queen's perspective. It is so good, and it is dark, and lush and awesome. I can't believe it's a debut." She also recommends Bob's Burgers. "That's my happy show. I always leave that show feeling good." Aliza recommends the TV show Outlander. "It is essence a period soap opera, but it's so much more than that ... the writing on that show is amazing, and the way they portray people dealing with drama is really, really good." MJ recommends Adam Silvera's new novel They Both Die At The End. He also recommends reading the New York Times "Modern Love" essay "Who Is Allowed To Hold Hands." "It's this heartbreaking, impassioned essay about who is allowed to hands and when and where and why."
