Podcasters Fong and Kemp are back to tackle the Melania film, the Super Bowl halftime show alternative, the Epstein files, and the evil of ICE in Minneapolis. And more!
Send us a textOn this week's Two Kens Podcast, Ken Fong and I dive headfirst into what can only be described as a political and cultural whirlwind. Turning Point USA is in open conflict — MAGA vs. MAGA — with Candace Owens and Erica Kirk trading fire. The Hollywood Reporter is calling it a civil war on the Right. What does that fracture mean for the movement… and for the country? We'll unpack the renewed buzz around the Epstein files — from Julie Roys' reporting on surprising names to the resurfacing of James Dobson and Kenneth Starr — and ask why these stories keep circling back. We also talk about Melania's documentary, Amazon's $40 million licensing deal, and what it signals about media, money, and influence in 2026 America. From Dinesh D'Souza's controversial films to Trump's rhetoric at the National Prayer Breakfast… from ICE shake-ups to claims about “stolen elections”… to headlines declaring America in peril — we sort through the noise.Ken and I bring our differing perspectives to the conversation. That's the point. We talk it out — candidly, thoughtfully, sometimes passionately — but always as friends. If you're feeling the tension in the air and wondering what it all means, tune in. Let's think this through together.SHOW NOTESSupport the showBecome a Patron - Click on the link to learn how you can become a Patron of the show. Thank you! In this edition of the collaborative The Two Kens series, Fong and Kemp reflect on some of what they focused on in 2025, whille looking for signs of hope in this new year.
Send us a textWe discuss Kens book EVERY DAY IS SUNDAY. How Jerry Jones, Robert Kraft and Roger Goodell tuned the NFL into a Cultural & Economic Juggernaught. Ken shares his thoughts on Krafts being on the H.O.F ballot, the difference between owners Robert Kraft and Jerry Jones. Ken also gives us a view into the owners meetings as well as when the booing of Roger Goodell started at the NFL Draft. Other topics as deflategate as well as if he was commissioner who would he pick to award a franchise to Kraft or Jones. You also don't want to miss a couple of stories of his interactions with Robert Kraft including receiving an odd gift from Robert while writing the book. I hope you all enjoy and as always thank you all for listening!
Send us a textAs Ken Fong and I wrap up another year of 2KENS, we wanted to create space not just to review what happened in 2025, but to reflect on what still matters—and what gives us reason to hope. This year-end conversation is grounded in honesty, but it's also shaped by gratitude: for friendship, for thoughtful listeners, and for the enduring power of dialogue in unsettled times. We revisit the major moments that defined the year—from the inauguration and its ripple effects across government and culture, to global flashpoints in Ukraine and the Middle East, to the economic and political tremors felt here at home. Along the way, Ken and I try to hold two things together: a clear-eyed look at power and policy, and a belief that democratic institutions, civic engagement, and moral imagination are still very much alive. We also note signs of resilience—voters showing up in off-year elections, communities refusing to disengage, and people across the spectrum asking better questions about leadership, accountability, and the common good. Even amid executive overreach, cultural division, and international instability, the story of 2025 is not only about what was broken, but about what endured. This episode is less about having the last word and more about keeping the conversation going. If you're looking for reflection without despair and realism anchored in hope, listen in. What if the lowest point in your life was actually your turning point? Dr. Robb Kelly knows what it means to lose everything, family, home, and even the will to live, and still find a way forward. From playing music at Abbey Road to living on the streets of Manchester, Robb’s story is a raw reminder of what happens when pain becomes purpose. Through science, faith, and relentless honesty, he rebuilt his life and devoted it to helping others recover from addiction and reclaim their worth. In this conversation, we talk about: How childhood trauma quietly shapes the way we cope, connect, and self-destruct What it really takes to rebuild a life after addiction and find a new identity Why embracing our perfectly imperfect selves is key to healing and helping others This episode is a powerful reflection on redemption, resilience, and the small moments that can change everything. Relationships in HD — Part 13: Parenting with the End in Mind Description: In Part 13 of Relationships in HD, Pastor Eric unpacks what it means to parent—and disciple—with the end in mind. From Titus 2 to Proverbs 22 and Ephesians 6, Scripture shows that biblical parenting isn't merely about raising compliant kids, but about shaping men and women who love Jesus, think biblically, serve faithfully, and stand strong in a culture that pulls them the other way. This message expands the circle beyond biological parenting. Every mature believer—older men, older women, mentors, youth leaders, and spiritual fathers and mothers—carries a responsibility to invest in the next generation. Pastor Eric walks through the voices that shaped him: parents who were purposeful, a father-in-law who discipled him to Jesus, a youth leader who said “yes” when asked, and a pastor who taught him to keep his feet on the ground and his heart faithful. With honesty, humor, and real-life stories (from toddler defiance to raising sensitive sons and strong daughters), Pastor Eric shows why we must train up children according to their way—their God-given wiring, personality, gifting, and calling—while grounding them in the unchanging truth of God's Word. Parenting with the end in mind means raising boys to become providers, protectors, and humble leaders; raising girls to become wise, strong, compassionate women of God; and raising all children to become functioning members of society and faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. The goal is Jesus. The foundation is Jesus. And if we miss Him, we miss everything. Key Scriptures (NKJV): Titus 2:1–8; Proverbs 22:6; Deuteronomy 6:6–9; Ephesians 6:1–4; 1 Corinthians 11:1; Romans 5:6–8; Matthew 19:13–14. Highlights: Parenting is both biological and spiritual—every mature believer has a role in shaping the next generation. Titus 2 discipleship: older men and older women teaching those coming behind them. Why rebellion isn't inevitable—Scripture calls all believers, including teens, to holiness and self-control. Train up a child according to his way—guiding each child's unique wiring under God's design. Raising sons to provide, protect, lead with humility, and treat women with dignity. Raising daughters to love their families, walk in strength and wisdom, and live self-controlled lives. Modeling repentance and honesty—children don't need perfect parents, but parents who walk with a perfect Savior. The church's calling: producing the next generation of Ricks, Kens, Debbies, and faithful disciplers. The ultimate end: pointing every child—ours or others—to Jesus, the only One who can save. Next Steps: Identify one young person in your home or church you can intentionally invest in this week. Pray through Deuteronomy 6, look for natural moments “when you sit, walk, lie down, and rise up,” and bring God into real-life conversations. Then choose one simple practice—an apology, a conversation about Scripture, or an act of sacrificial love—that points them toward Jesus.

After some downtime Stewart, Rastislav and Ken make their return for Off The Record number 6 of 2025. Kens feature pick is Rampage from 1987 Directed by William Friedkin and starring Michael Biehn. A mostly sombre film about the vampire killer Richard Chase and what the experience was like in the courtroom for the jurors. Even though this was a serious film, Ken recounts a few memorable and funny moments and is on his recommended list.Stewart's greater pick Friendship from 2024 is a story about two neighbours who become great friends, but through the struggles of everyday life have a falling out because the main character is a bit of a born loser. Andrew DeYoung take this classic tale and puts a modern twist on it. The main character played by Tim Robinson is very good in his role. Rasto decides to go the documentary route this time with his 2022 pick called Louis Armstrong's Black & Blues, which explores the life and times of this pioneer of jazz. Directed by Sacha Jenkens using actual footage of Louis Armstrong. Rasto was very pleased with this film and the controversy surrounding Louis Armstrong at the time.We slide back to Ken for another semi-court room drama called Juror No. 2 directed by Clint Eastwood in 2024. Ken was somewhat impressed but also let down at a key moment in the film. Nicholas Hoult stars in the film, And Ken decides this film is worth a better score than our recent review of Cry Macho. After all these serious picks, Stewart from out in left field brings us his tale of the Toxic Avenger from 1984, which in all manor of speaking is a B Movie done so wrong, that it turns out alright! Tons of gore, red ketchup and brutal scenes, not for the faint of heart. Directed by Michael Herz starring Mitch Cohen. This bad boy falls under the classic Troma over the top film. As the name says a nerdy janitor turns into a toxic vigilante after falling into some toxic waste. You can watch the kill count on Youtube if you are brave enough.Rasto brings us back to reality with Three Pines from 2022 which he still gave a half descent score. Created by Emilia di Girolamo and starring Alfred Molina. This is a Canadian Film, from Montreal that explores the life of a small towns sins and how the residents navigate each others crimes while still trying to remain neighbours. There is one other ‘Meh' film that Rasto brought to our attention and that is sleeping Dogs starring Russell Crowe from 2024 which was in his opinion just meh.... This is a public episode. Podcasters Ken Fong and Ken Kemp managed to squeeze out one more of their collaborative series before celebrating Thanksgiving this year overwhelms their schedules. But before diving head first into their discussion about prominent MAGA pastor and NAR (New Apostolic Reformation) global leader Rev. Che Ahn's entering the 2026 race to be California's next governor, they do their best "Sisket & Ebert" impression and talk about the significance of two films that just released in theaters this weekend: Rental Family and Wicked for Good.
Send us a textKen Fong and I sit down for one of our richest, most thought-provoking conversations yet.We begin with the quietly powerful new film Rental Family, where Brendan Fraser's lonely American actor in Tokyo becomes the “token white guy” in Japan's unusual rental family industry. What begins as performance becomes something far deeper — and it opens the door for us to discuss honestly intercultural relationships, identity, belonging, and the longing for genuine connection in an era of isolation. From there, we take a turn into the world of (now Candidate for Governor of California) Pastor Ché Ahn, the New Apostolic Reformation, and the legacy of C. Peter Wagner — a professor both of us once studied under. We revisit Wagner's vision of ethnically centered churches, Ahn's rise as an apostolic figure, and his influential role in the Seven Mountain Mandate and the MAGA movement. This isn't a hit piece — it's a candid, personal reckoning with the theological, cultural, and political forces reshaping evangelicalism. We also dive into Jon M. Chu's reflections on Wicked, A.I., and Asian representation; the latest Tuesday election results; the troubling Tucker Carlson–Nick Fuentes pipeline; And yes — we talk about the shutdown, the blame game, and why today's GOP seems allergic to health care, border solutions, and the social safety net.SHOW NOTESSupport the showBecome a Patron - Click on the link to learn how you can become a Patron of the show. Sometimes our Kens hurt us, sometimes we're the ones who need healing, and sometimes we're both flat on our faces like Barbie just trying to crawl our way to Jesus. In this episode, we're talking about fighting for healing, not letting anything or anyone stand between us and our Creator. Because just like that woman who reached for the hem of His garment, we can too. So grab your armor (and maybe a tissue), and let's keep fighting toward the One who heals it all.Note: I recorded this in Aug 2025 before Pres Nelson who turned 101 passed away.

Send us a textMy friend and podcast partner, Ken Fong is back from his honeymoon. We're here for another lively edition of The Two Kens. This week, we're unpacking the fallout from what some are calling a “Third Great Awakening,” sparked by the recent Charlie Kirk memorial and the movement he inspired. We'll dive into the headlines—from The Atlantic and Religion News Service to Mother Jones and Wired—and trace how faith, politics, and power are merging in America's latest culture war. We'll explore the New Apostolic Reformation's push to “Christianize the Seven Mountains,” from Wall Street to Hollywood, and what CBS's Andrew Ross Sorkin says about eerie echoes of 1929.Satruday, October 18, I'm off to the NO KINGS protest. Some say this movement is a revival. Others call it a takeover. We say—it's time to talk about it. Join us for an honest, wide-ranging conversation that connects the dots between the headlines, history, and what's happening right now in our churches, schools, and politics.Support the showBecome a Patron - Click on the link to learn how you can become a Patron of the show. In this latest edition of the recurring The Two Kens collaborative series, Fong and Kemp explain both the irony of how he died and the Right's insistence on nationwide posthumous empathy and acclaim for him. Using his own words to substantiate their opinions, they make the case that Kirk's inflammatory rhetoric should not now be santized, nor should he be lionized and honored as an American hero and icon of free speech.

Send us a textWelcome to the launch of our epic 5th season on Fabulous Film & Friends! This is the big one! The one that everyone will be talking about for years to come. Why? Because this is the episode where I finally get to trash the Barbie movie as we dive into the idea of “When Good Directors Go Bad.”Inspired by the recent release of 2025's Paul Thomas Anderson/ Leonardo DiCaprio domestic terror extravaganza One Battle After Another which also stars Benicio Del Toro, Teyana Taylor, Chase Infiniti, Regina Hall, Tony Goldwyn, Alana Haim and Sean Penn, we're going to analyze just went wrong with this promising cinematic spectacle and compare it to another creative disaster that should've been an artistic and thematic slam dunk considering its pedigree, 2023's Barbie directed by Greta Gerwig and starring Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera, Ariana Greenblatt, Simu Liu, Rhea Perlman and Will Ferrell. I'm your host Gino Caputi and returning to their mics pretty much right where they left them last season are little sis' Roseanne Caputi and actor photobug Gordon Alex Robertson. Alex, you're going to start this season out of the hot seat again as Roseanne is going to continue to thrill us with factoids about the directors in question Hit us again with the facts, Teach! Before we sharpen the bayonets and light the fuses: the synopses. Barbie follows the titular blonde doll as she awakes blissfully in the female run Barbie Land each day, ignoring her supposed boyfriend Ken, and partying with her fellow Barbies all night. One night during a sensationally choreographed and costumed dance party, she has an existential crisis about mortality and develops flat feet, causing her to leave Barbieland on a journey to “the real world” to find the source of her angst. Realizing her depressed feelings stem from a psychic connection to her original owner, Gloria, Barbie reconnects with Gloria and Gloria's daughter and the trio travel back to Barbieland. Upon their return, however, they are dumbfounded to find that Ken has taken over and has brainwashed all the other Barbies into subservience to him and his fellow Kens. A battle of the sexes ensues. One Battle After Another loosely adapts Vineland, a novel by Thomas Pynchon. It follows Bob Ferguson, a bomb expert drawn into the terrorist group the French 75. Amid the group's revolutionary chaos, Bob fathers a daughter named Willa with the fiery tempered and uncontrollable Perfidia Beverly Hills. Perfidia also has a complicated relationship with the mannered and single-minded Colonel Steven Lockjaw. She is soon caught during a botched bank robbery, and Lockjaw strikes a deal with her, leading her to name names. Years later, after most of his French 75 cohorts have been hunted down by Lockjaw, Bob is still on the run in Northern California with Willa. But Lockjaw finds and captures Willa so Bob must confront the unstoppable colonel for once and for all. Where did these two talented filmmakers go off the rails? Find out! For nearly 50 years conservative Christian psychologist Dr. James Dobson influenced countless couples, families, and churches through his globally ubiquitous Focus on the Family broadcasts, books, videos, and lectures. In the immediate aftermath of his death last week at the age of 89, podcasters Fong and Kemp talk openly about the way his influence impacted them and their ministries, the unspeakable harm his teaching did to countless children and queer people, and the little-known fact that it was all shaped by the debunked racist theory of eugenics.
Hi Barbies, hi Kens!Podcast Barbie hosts this very special pink, plastic fantastic episode on the history and legacy of Barbie - the doll and the movie! From her humble beginnings in the late 50s, through various controversies along the way, Barbie has been symbolic of girlhood, and of embracing the idea that girls can be whatever they want to be through play, not just as mothers with babydolls. As Barbie is based on the body of an actual young woman, the idea of a live action Barbie movie made sense. The first attempt was in 1986, and throughout the years, various studios have tried to make a live action Barbie film, while in the background, Barbie has been a staple in animation. It wasn't until real life Producer Barbie, Margot Robbie, contacted Mattel, with her ideas for a meta take on Barbie that Warner Bros started to take notice. Producer Barbie contacted Director Barbie, Greta Gerwig, and together they assembled the brightest and best Barbies in Hollywood to join them to celebrate Barbieland and all their achievements by having Barbie and Ken going to the real world and discovering that Barbieland's version of matriarchy isn't quite the experience of the real world. The Kens, well, they're just Ken.I would love to hear your thoughts on Barbie !Verbal Diorama is now an award-winning podcast! In this latest installment of the collaboration between podcasters Fong and Kemp, they describe America's state of "disaggregation" and implications for this country's future, given that it's only going to keep increasing. They also explain the mounting threat to the separation of church and state posed by the growing prominence and power of the Christian nationalist movement, e.g., Pastor Doug Wilson, SecDef Pete Hegseth.
