#535 Rock On! - Richard is at Hull City Hall with the biggest RHLSTP audience we've had and he's angry about the city claiming to have the smallest window in the country. His guest is legendary comedian and actor Tommy Cannon. They talk about how Cannon and Ball met at a welding factory, how Bobby cajoled him into forming an act and what he might have seen in Tommy, playing working men's clubs, coming last on Opportunity Knocks and how the pair were propelled to fame in the seventies. Plus falling out and falling in, a double act being like a marriage, learning the wrong script for Emmerdale, the power of their theme song, working with Rik Mayall and Little Richard and the impact of losing your partner after sixty years. A fine end to the tour with a guest whose sprightliness belies their 85 years,See a live recording of RHLSTP - https://richardherring.com/rhlstpSUPPORT THE SHOW!Watch our TWITCH CHANNELSee extra content at our WEBSITE Become a member at https://plus.acast.com/s/rhlstp. Tommy Cannon was one half of the legendary comic double act, Cannon and Ball, until his friend and partner, Bobby Ball's sad death in 2020. Cannon and Ball's prime time Saturday night television series, the Cannon and Ball Show, was one of ITV's most successful series, it ran for twelve years with audiences often as high as twenty million viewers. They even made their own film, The Boys In Blue, in 1982. Tommy and Bobby went on to make their own games show, appeared in the fifth series of I'm a Celebrity, Shooting Stars with Bob Mortimer and Vic Reeves, Last of the Summer Wine, on the Kenny Everett Television Show, and appeared together in a Christmas Special of Lee Mack's BBC comedy, Not Going Out. Tommy has also played a regular character in the ITV soap, Emmerdale. He is still performing today, with his one man show, Rock On Tommy: An Audience with Tommy Cannon, set to be seen all over the country in 2023 and 2024.Tommy Cannon is guest number 259 on My Time Capsule and chats to Michael Fenton Stevens about the five things he'd like to put in a time capsule; four he'd like to preserve and one he'd like to bury and never have to think about again .Tommy's tour dates and tickets: https://www.awaywithmedia.com/tours/tommy-cannon .Follow Tommy Cannon on Twitter: @TheTommyCannon .Follow My Time Capsule on Twitter, Instagram & Facebook: @MyTCpod .Follow Michael Fenton Stevens on Twitter: @fentonstevens & Instagram @mikefentonstevens .Produced and edited by John Fenton-Stevens for Cast Off Productions .Music by Pass The Peas Music .Artwork by matthewboxall.com .This podcast is proud to be associated with the charity Viva! Welcome to the final edition in Season 12. In this episode I know you're going to enjoy as I take you back to the height of Cannon & Ball's success as a double act that lasted decades right up until the very sad passing of Bobby Ball in 2020.Tommy Cannon, a national treasure and one who admits he owes his career to Bobby in those early years as he talks to Eyes & Teeth about a Weld of Laughter.Double acts over the years on British television have always been there but they seem to have a decade or so dedicated to them, in that case the 1980's were Cannon & Balls years. Cannon & Ball have always been there it seems from those early Wheeltappers Shows in the 1970's too I'm a Celebrity and Last Laugh in Las Vegas in more recent years.I can relate to double acts as a ventriloquist, but I can't imagine what I'd do without Arthur Lager. It would be like losing a right arm, literally for me, but when the nation lost Bobby Ball, we all felt a great loss as if he were our funny uncle, but he was someone's father, husband, son, friend and to Tommy more like a brother. In this final edition to Season 12, welcome to Eyes & Teeth the big big talent of Tommy cannon
Thomas Derbyshire (born 27 June 1938), known professionally as Tommy Cannon, is an English comic, actor and singer. He is best known as the straight man of the comic double act Cannon and Ball, until Bobby Ball's death in 2020, in TV programmes such as The Cannon and Ball Show.
Tommy Cannon: Cannon and Ball... with TRE´s Giles Brown
Tommy Cannon is a veteran British comedian along with the late great Bobby Ball, became one of the UK's best loved double act, Cannon & Ball. Starting out as singers they soon turned to comedy, then variety shows before the primetime Cannon & Ball Show which attracted a massive audience of over 20million viewers each week on their ITV show during the 1980's. Tommy chats about losing Bobby last year, their first pantomime with Charlie Drake, appearing on This Is Your Life, meeting the Queen plus their stint in the hit ITV show, Last Laugh in Vegas. It's a heartwarming listen. Support the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/stevelegguk)

The Two Gay Geeks have a chat with themselves about several people we had the opportunity to visit over the weekend. We visited with Patricia Chica, Director of Morning After, as well as Maurice Haeems, Director for the movie Chimera, and then we had dinner at The Smokehouse in Burbank with DaVette See and her mother. We missed Rob, DaVette's husband, as he had another commitment. We had a great time and got a few photos with each of these folks. We apologize to our other friends in the LA area as we just didn't have time to do much more, but we will be back soon for another visit. We also chatted about where we are going and how our numbers have taken off thanks to all of our contributors. In our second segment we chat about the article we ran on Alan Smithee. We also chat about Tommy Cannon and his Dr. Zombie cartoon and that the books have arrived. So, if you were part of the Kickstarter be on the lookout for your copy.
