In life we are taught to jump at the opportunities that come. “Opportunity only knocks once.” we are told. This can be a dangerous way to live, as not eery opportunity is the best thing for us, or even more specifically, in agreement with God’s will. There are opportunities, however, that we as believers are supposed to jump at. The opportunity to share the Gospel! In this week’s section of Acts we find Paul presented with three opportunities before eh rulers of the both Jews and Gentiles to give the truth of the Gospel, and he takes them! Rejecting his own opportunities to defend and escape for himself, he instead focuses on the purpose to which he had been called by Jesus. Paul wasn’t the only one who faces opportunity.. The people who hear the Gospel from him also have an opportunity. How do they respond? Well… not great… These same responses are seen to this day when Gospel opportunity comes up, and we as believers need to be ready to walk with people through them. Join us this weekend as we finish our look at Paul’s defense in Acts 24-26, and see how important it is for us to answer when the right opportunities knock. -Pastor Ben Key Verse: Acts 26:29 (NIV) - Paul replied, "Short time or long—I pray to God that not only you but all who are listening to me today may become what I am, except for these chains." The International Break is done and dusted, so after celebrating the successes against Oxford and a battling draw against WBA, we turn our attention to possibly the most season-defining game we have left, with Luton heading to the MKM in what could finally see City push clear of the relegation picture.________________________________________________Twitter: https://twitter.com/HullCityAFCAusFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/aussi...Instagram: hull.city.aus

“Jesus, take the wheel.” No, I'm not admitting I'm a Carrie Underwood fan. I don't know about you, but whenever I hear her song or hear one of my fellow Southern sisters say the phrase, my initial reaction is, “Ha! Easier said than done.” Because us highly driven people LOVE us some control, right? We LOVE the driver's seat…calling all the shots. But here's what I've learned - both from my journey and walking alongside some of the best in the world… The person who thinks he's in control is the one more likely to lose it. So, today, I'm on the mic with a guy who knows all about the challenge of giving the keys over to God and trusting that He'll get you to where you're supposed to be. Major League Baseball Vice President and longtime baseball executive, Del Matthews, keeps it real with me and shares insights on how to let go when everything inside is saying to hold on. If you want to tap into more of the courage and confidence inside you without having to be a control freak, then lock in to today's episode. In this episode, you'll hear: How Del leaned into his own unique identity while growing up with both a Dad and brother who played in the Big Leagues. Del's advice for those times when you're scared to step out in faith and trust God. Insights into Del's transition from playing to executive roles in baseball development. How to lean into a vision for the future, whether it's your own or someone else's. The importance of collaborative choices and seeking wise counsel. No musician is more closely associated with London or left more footprints than Bowie, and you can trace its influence on his life and work (and vice versa) through a series of landmarks from the suburbs to the centre. Author and curator Paul Gorman has just published an annotated street-map – David Bowie's London - listing the places that played a formative role in his world and music, the places he rehearsed, performed, filmed and recorded, the homes of friends and managers, his schools and the addresses where he lived, worked and was photographed, made connections, bought clothes and generally raised the temperature. We talk here about many of those old haunts and the stories attached to them, which include… … mysterious manager Ralph Horton who got him to change his name to Bowie and then vanished from the face of the earth. … the fate of Heddon Street, home of K-West and the Ziggy phone-box. … Marc Bolan refusing to let him sing at an all-night benefit at Middle Earth. … “the Fairy Godmother of the New Romantics” at the WAG Club. … when Lionel Bart came to Haddon Hall. … Bowie and Steve Marriott auditioning for the Lower Third. … how he levered his way into a Fabulous magazine fashion shoot. … “the end of the age of Showbiz”: performing Chim Chim Cher-ee at the Marquee when at a crossroads between rock and roll and cabaret. … the magical piano at the Trident Studios. … a chance encounter with the otherworldly Vince Taylor whose ‘UFO map' helped inspire the concept of Ziggy Stardust. … the legend of Mr Fish, creator of the man-dress on the cover of The Man Who Sold The World. … the days when people had a white Rolls Royce and matching Alsatian – and “the Great Sarong Scare of the ‘90s”. … and various fringe figures including his art teacher Owen Frampton, Konrads agents Bob Knight and Eric Easton, muse and heartbreaker Hermione Farthingale, producers Shel Talmy and Tony Hatch (“the original Mr Nasty from Opportunity Knocks”) and slum landlord and racketeer Peter Rackman. The Morecambe Poetry festival hosts Ian McMillan and the Verb at the Morecambe Winter Gardens, for a special recording with poets Pam Ayres, Raymond Antrobus and Henry Normal, three performers much- loved by audiences.Pam Ayres takes us back to the beginning of her career with the first poem she ever performed live whilst working for the Royal Air Force. This preceded her memorable winning appearance on the TV talent show Opportunity Knocks. Raymond Antrobus reads from a long sequence of poems written after he learned he was going to be a father. One of his poems describes the sign language his hearing son - born in 2021 - communicated with before he could speak. Raymond's own deafness was diagnosed when he was six.Henry Normal has a long association with the Morecambe Poetry festival. He was involved in its creation and is almost its resident poet. He reads poems inspired by libraries saying he would not have become a writer were it not for free access to the wide world through the pages of books. Produced by Susan Roberts

The Conscious Edge Podcast: Redefining Wealth as a Whole Human Experience
Hi, I'm Alecia St. Germain, host of The Conscious Edge podcast, where we dive into the art of aligning purpose and prosperity while keeping joy at the forefront of the entrepreneurial journey. This week, I'm reflecting on powerful lessons from a recent retreat and how they relate to the challenges many of us face when stepping into the next level of our purpose. At the retreat, I witnessed a transformative breakthrough. A participant identified her “one thing” — the singular focus that could make all her other goals easier to achieve. The clarity she gained led her to take immediate action, and in no time, a huge opportunity landed in her lap. But here's the catch: big opportunities often come with a wave of imposter syndrome. As I told her, “Opportunity doesn't come when you're ready. It calls you to get ready when it shows up”. This truth has been a constant in my life, and learning to embrace it has allowed me to grow in ways I never imagined. Imposter syndrome can sneak in, especially when opportunities feel “too big” for us. But instead of succumbing to self-doubt, we can lean into preparation and trust in our character. For me, preparation isn't just about researching or practicing; it's about showing up as the person I need to be for the opportunity. One of the most liberating lessons I've learned is to stop waiting for perfection before moving forward. The key is to say yes and trust yourself to prepare as you go. This mindset has unlocked my ability to create, innovate, and serve at a higher level. As Jonathan and I prepare for our February retreat, we're embracing this approach fully. Instead of over-planning every detail, we're allowing flexibility to tailor the experience to the needs of our attendees. Ultimately, every step of the journey shapes who we become. Whether it's identifying your next focus, overcoming self-doubt, or aligning with your deeper purpose, each moment prepares you for the opportunities ahead. As you consider what's next for you, ask yourself: What's the one thing that could accelerate your goals? Who do you need to be to embrace your next opportunity? How can you prepare while staying true to your purpose? The answers may surprise you, but they'll undoubtedly lead to growth. If this resonates with you, I'd love to hear your thoughts. And if you're curious about the retreat we're hosting in February, you can get more info here. Resources: Retreat Waitlist Sending you love and be well! Tamalin Srisook Polo joins me for Episode 112 of Opportunity Knocks: "Be In the Know. Bespoke. Be Open." All of these words really embody not only who Tamalin is, but the work she does with her incredible boutique experiential marketing and events production business, Savior Agency. As a young, single mother also at the beginning of her career, Tamalin knew the power of taking risks and chose courage early and often, starting her own business. She began her career in tech sales, and while she was a high performer, the lack of purpose was something she could no longer continue on with. She's now been producing high-end experiences and events for major brands for more than 20 years. The name of her business, Savior (French), means to “be in the know,” and that's who Tamalin is through and through — someone with their finger on the pulse of trends, but also deeply with herself. This episode features a great conversation with the highlights:
This is episode (7) of our special nine-part series entitled Plan Ahead. Our hosts Julie Flakstad & Dr. Taz Bhatia, welcome Jean Chatzky - CEO and Founder of HerMoney, journalist, author, and former financial editor of NBC's Today Show. The conversation addresses both the practical and emotional aspects of financial planning, especially for women in their 40s and 50s. Chatzky shares insights into why financial planning is inherently challenging, particularly due to human behavioral tendencies, and emphasizes the importance of understanding personal "money types" to overcome financial roadblocks. Here are some of the themes we discuss …What ‘planning ahead' means in our 40s + 50s: Jean offers perspective on why we're not necessarily wired to plan ahead ahead, how planning ahead has evolved, and what we should be thinking about today.Emotional and Behavioral Aspects of Money Management The episode underscores that money management isn't just numbers—it's tied deeply to emotions and behaviors, and understanding this connection can help individuals make better, less reactive financial decisions.Understanding Personal “Money Types” She explains that one of the first steps to planning ahead is to better understand your relationship with money and finances. Jean recommends taking a money personality quiz (see link below) to provide insight on why you are the way you are, and, if you're in a relationship, how your partner is wired too.Building an Emergency Fund Jean highlights the importance of a dedicated emergency fund (aka the “oh shit” fund) for life's unexpected expenses, including tips on how much we should have saved for unforeseen circumstances.Empowering Women in Financial Decision Making The conversation explores how many women in midlife feel unprepared to handle or even talk about personal finances, the need to insert oneself in financial conversations, and advice on how to take a more active role in managing day-to-day finances.Setting Realistic Financial Goals Jean offers valuable benchmarks for savings and retirement, insight on how to talk more openly with your partner/spouse about your future goals, and broader perspective on how to avoid FOMO relative to what one can and can't afford.About Our Guest, Jean ChatzkyJean Chatzky, CEO and co-founder of HerMoney is the former financial editor of NBC's Today Show, a coach on the PBS show Opportunity Knocks, a New York Times and Wall Street Journal best-selling author, the financial ambassador for AARP and the host of the HerMoney podcast. Through decades of reporting on personal finance, she learned that a) the jargon-filled speak of the financial industry was created (largely by men) to sell you stuff you don't need, and b) if you eliminate the jargon there is absolutely no rocket science to money. She knows that a full, successful financial life is within every woman's grasp — and with the HerMoney team, she's on a mission to help you get it.Connect with Our Hosts and Conversation Partner!Jean ChatzkyHerMoney Podcast Books Speaking Website: https://jeanchatzky.com/ Instagram: @jeanchatzky Resources notedwww.investingfixx.com Money Type: Money Personality QuizJulie Flakstadhttps://julieflakstad.com/ Instagram @julieflakstad Facebook @thejulieflakstadDr. Taz BhatiaYouTube: @DrTazMDInstagram: @drtazmdWebsite: doctortaz.comOrder The Hormone Shift book HEREPractice - Centre Spring MD: https://centrespringmd.com/ Tune in next Wednesday, 11/6, when we drop our next episode in this special (9) part series, called “It's Not Too Late” with former professional volleyball player, entrepreneur and podcast host, Gabby Reece. #535 Rock On! - Richard is at Hull City Hall with the biggest RHLSTP audience we've had and he's angry about the city claiming to have the smallest window in the country. His guest is legendary comedian and actor Tommy Cannon. They talk about how Cannon and Ball met at a welding factory, how Bobby cajoled him into forming an act and what he might have seen in Tommy, playing working men's clubs, coming last on Opportunity Knocks and how the pair were propelled to fame in the seventies. Plus falling out and falling in, a double act being like a marriage, learning the wrong script for Emmerdale, the power of their theme song, working with Rik Mayall and Little Richard and the impact of losing your partner after sixty years. A fine end to the tour with a guest whose sprightliness belies their 85 years,See a live recording of RHLSTP - https://richardherring.com/rhlstpSUPPORT THE SHOW!Watch our TWITCH CHANNELSee extra content at our WEBSITE Become a member at https://plus.acast.com/s/rhlstp. In this episode of Lead to Soar, hosts Michelle Redfern and Mel Butcher tackle the crucial topic of taking risks in your career. From deciding whether to apply for new roles to managing toxic work environments, the conversation covers practical strategies for assessing risks, taking bold steps, and learning from past decisions. Michelle introduces the concept of a "risk matrix" to help you evaluate career moves, while Mel shares personal insights on making big life changes. The episode also explores overcoming fear of rejection, managing workplace politics, and how to become proactive in your career growth.Episode Highlights:- Risk-taking in career moves: Michelle encourages women to take risks by applying for new opportunities without overthinking or creating problems that haven't arisen yet.“If something's piqued your interest, why wouldn't you explore it? You don't have a decision to make until a new offer is on the table.” - The risk matrix: Michelle shares a simple framework for evaluating risks based on probability and impact, applicable to both business and personal career decisions.Example: The risk of losing your job may be low, but the impact could be high, so always be prepared with updated CVs, LinkedIn profiles, and professional networks.Managing toxic workplaces: Both hosts discuss strategies for handling toxic bosses and environments, including the importance of having a support network and proactive mitigation strategies.Taking career risks as opportunities: Instead of avoiding risk, view new job opportunities as a chance to build networks, explore roles, and raise your profile—without the fear of “what if.”Risk vs. reward in networking: Mel and Michelle emphasize the importance of strategic networking, both for career advancement and to help others, highlighting the reciprocity and generosity required in building professional relationships.“Don't wait for someone to invite you—create your own table.” Learning from failure: The episode touches on how we can make good decisions that don't always lead to good outcomes and how reflecting on those experiences leads to growth.“We can't do life over, but we can stop, breathe, reflect, and ask: What did I learn from that situation?” Leadership Call to Action:Apply for opportunities, even if unsure: Don't hesitate to apply for a role that interests you. You're not obligated to make a final decision until an offer is in hand.Use a risk matrix for career decisions: Evaluate risks using a simple matrix based on probability and impact, and mitigate risks with strategies like maintaining an updated CV and strong professional networks.Strategic networking: Be proactive in your networking efforts. Reach out to industry professionals, create opportunities to connect, and offer value in return.Take calculated risks: Whether it's applying for a new job, starting a conversation with a recruiter, or advocating for yourself in a difficult work environment, weigh the risk vs. reward. Remember, staying in the comfort zone carries its own risks.Mitigate the impact of toxic work environments: If you're dealing with a toxic boss or workplace, build a support system and have a clear strategy to protect your wellbeing while working through the situation.Download a career risk management matrix here: Hosted on Acast. Get ready for a really wonderful edition of Rosebud, with the poet and performer Pam Ayres. Pam makes Gyles laugh and cry with the stories from her fascinating life. Pam paints vivid pictures of her childhood, growing up in relative poverty in a big family in an insular village in rural Berkshire (now Oxfordshire). All the family's food was grown in the back garden, there was no hot water, the family shared beds and the toilet was a bucket. She tells Gyles about the games she played, the first boyfriend she had, and about her first job. She tells Gyles about the joining the RAF, and how, through that, she began performing, and eventually got posted to Singapore. And she tells Gyles about being discovered and winning Opportunity Knocks. Pam's is a truly unique life, and in this interview she paints a compelling picture of a forgotten time. Sit back, relax, and enjoy this. With huge thanks to Pam for this wonderful conversation. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
Let's get pumped for Episode 111 of Opportunity Knocks “Building Strength through Teamwork and Community” featuring Lisa Solomon, the Founder of The Studio (MDR), a Lagree studio with five locations in LA and a sixth coming in 2025. This is a special episode, given that it is 111 - an angel number representing good luck, opportunity, confidence and profound transformation. Such a perfectly fitting number for my dear friend Lisa, who I had the joy of facilitating with at an incredible Women's Wellness Event here in LA last week. After falling in love with the Lagree method workout and out of love with her career as an executive in the music industry, Lisa opened The Studio (MDR) during the peak of the recession. They beat all the odds and have been booked and busy since day one, more than a decade ago. There are many golden nuggets from my chat with Lisa, including:

Has the UK capitalized on the 70+ Sukuk and three Islamic ETFs listed on LSE, as well as unparalleled expertise in areas such as export credit? Can more be done to supply the market with high-quality liquid assets, and to what extent would this contribute to building a yield curve unique to Islamic financial institutions?
