Zelfde opzet als in Nederland: 10 comedians moeten het zes uur met elkaar volhouden zonder te lachen. Wie twee keer lacht is af. Come and join the conversation with the amazingly talented and gorgeously hilarious Siobhan Phillips!Gracing our screens on the final of Britain's Got Talent, Siobhan captivated the nation with her witty ditties and sailed through the live shows. Currently on her 10 week tour with Rita Sue & Bob Too, Siobhan Sat down with me to chat all things career so far! We delve into her journey into performing, starting at the tender age of 16, fond memories of her Dad driving her to gigs and supporting her in her dream of becoming a singer. Music and entertainment certainly runs in the family, with her great grandfather an opera singer, guitarist father, singing mother and a brother who is also a lead singer, Siobhan definitely has music in her genes! She gives me all the gossip from behind the scenes at Britain's Got Talent, her having no expectations of her audition- treating it rather like a day out with butties and a flask in hand, Siobhan hilariously tells me about the process. We talk about the realities of being in such a competitive industry, the highs and also the real low points where Siobhan did a lot of soul searching, coming out the other side stronger and more determined than ever. We chat about the importance of experience, the ability to choose the work that fits around your family, citing age as a source of her wisdom and ability to take things in her stride. The biggest love of Siobhan's life is her daughter, and she tells me of the gratitude of her career longevity, allowing her to spend precious moments with the people she loves the most, whilst doing a job she adores.Siobhan tells me about meeting her comedy hero Bob Mortimer after they were appearing on Loose Women on the same day, after a fan girl moment and quick selfie they had a normal chat like old pals! We chat aspirations for the future, her dream of being cast in Corrie, and with her recent theatre tour she would love to do more acting. Siobhan is a real lover of stories, hearing people's journey and would love a show of her own interviewing people, hearing all about their lives- she would be fabulous at this right?!! Attention TV stations, In Conversation with Siobhan could be your next big ratings hit!Honestly, an utter joy to speak to this amazing lady, had me laughing from start to finish, as they say in the business she really does have funny bones! A gorgeous human being, insanely talented and truly deserving of success. There's still time to go and see Rita Sue & Bob too, head on over here for tickets!https://www.ents24.com/uk/tour-dates/rita-sue-and-bob-too-1 Thankyou Siobhan, what an absolute pleasure ❤️

In this episode we welcome Fast Show legend Simon Day to downtown Hammersmith and ask him about his musical passions and the immortal Life Of Rock With Brian Pern. We start with our guest's misspent youth in south-east London, where he frequently saw bands such as Dr. Feelgood and local lads Squeeze and even fronted his own punk combo Simon & the Virgins. We hear about his early days on the standup circuit and his close associations with Vic Reeves, Bob Mortimer and the gang that coalesced around The Fast Show. From there we discuss the genesis of his "prog'n'roll" alter ego Brian Pern and his affectionate lampooning of Peter Gabriel. Clips from a 2003 audio interview with Steely Dan prompt an in-depth conversation about Donald Fagen and the late Walter Becker. During this, Simon tells us how he first fell for the arch duo and we collectively compare notes on some of the group's greatest songs and albums. After a brief mention of featured writer Dorian Lynskey and his new book Everything Must Go, Mark quotes from newly-added library pieces about Mötley Crüe's Nikki Sixx and Beatles hairdresser Leslie Cavendish before Jasper talks us out with his thoughts on M. People's Heather Small and a particularly cantankerous Van Morrison. Many thanks to special guest Simon Day. Pieces discussed: Genesis Doing The Foxtrot, Genesis: No "Pale" Imitation, Seventies prog rockers Genesis are back, but are they welcomed?, All Apologies: Brian Pern, Steely Dan audio, Wayne Robins on the RBP podcast, Pete Seeger, Kendrick Lamar, Why do pop stars fall for conspiracy theories?, Dorian Lynskey on the RBP podcast, Mötley Crüe, Beatles hairdresser Leslie Cavendish, Elvis, The King Remembered — An oral history, Heather Small: Proud, Los Campesinos!, and A duel with Van Morrison.

Tom Sutcliffe talks to director Ridley Scott about his new film Napoleon - a subject that takes him back to an actor who's played an emperor for him before – Joaquin Phoenix was Commodus in Gladiator – and back to the period in which his very first film. The Duellists was set. A fifth of the seats at the Royal Albert Hall are owned by just over 300 people - who can choose to enjoy performances or sell the tickets on at a profit. We hear from Richard Lyttelton, a former President of the Royal Albert Hall who believes that making money out of the seats doesn't really align with the original vision of the venue. A Gloucester Old Spot pig has been named The Satsuma Complex - in honour of comedian Bob Mortimer's first book, which has won this year's Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse prize for the best comic novel. He's joined by fellow comedian and member of the judging panel Pippa Evans to explore what makes fiction funny.

Table Manners with Jessie and Lennie Ware

He's the star of the iconic Little Britain, Bridesmaids, Come Fly With Me and soon to be seen on the big screen in Wonka. This week we have the one and only Matt Lucas joining us for dinner. Matt has recently written his first children's book and with all his wonderful stories from growing up you can see where all the inspiration comes from! We discovered that he was given his first big break by Bob Mortimer, he's notorious for his very own Chicken Soup recipe (which takes him 36 hours!), his first flat deposit was paid for by a Creme Egg advert and the story of the real life 'Marjorie Dawes' from Weight Watchers is fabulous. Matt, next time you come round we promise to have a Viennetta on ice for you, but you've gotta bring the soup! Matt's children's musical novel ‘The Boy Who Slept Through Christmas' is out now. "Ribs and Pipes and Penises (oh my!)" Our voyage of re-disc-overy continues, as we tackle a most unusual release; the one that was out in the US before the UK, and that Young Cappsy managed to review before Young Ian for once. We rake over this bitterness as well as embarking on not one, not two, but three commentaries, forgoing the tradition of focusing on one big extra in favour of covering a handful of little bitty ones, the regular features that would otherwise be glossed over. Once again, we ensure that every single aspect of the release is discussed, and along the way we re-evaluate Hattie Hayridge's return to the role of Holly, try to get to the bottom of why the cast commentaries are so difficult to get through, and attempt to comprehensively solve the issues of both war and racism.Show notes Contemporary reviews from Cappsy, Ian and Ian again. For all of its faults, the one thing you can say about Crime Boss: Rockay City is that Vanilla Ice is in it. Which reminded us of a thing that happened a while back: it was called "the nineties", and it had loads of good stuff, like the Amiga, Fido Dido, and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. But the nineties were a great time for personalities. Snoop Dogg. Pamela Anderson. Tony Blair. Loads of them. Chyna from the wrestling. The Churchill insurance dog. Bob Mortimer. I could go on. But it was a long decade and there were literally billions of people involved (George Clooney, there's another one). The question we're asking today is: what is the best video game that features a 90s star? As ever, the game is in how you interpret the question. To find out which game (and 90s Sleb) gets inducted into the VG247 Hall of Fame, you'll have to listen to our podcast. Luckily for you, this is it here. Just FYI, not a single person said Rise of the Tomb Raider, which would obviously have been the winning choice, given that it's excellent, features possibly the most 90s star imaginable in Lara Croft, and represents a late 20th century new-media fusion of art and personality the likes of which we had never experienced before, but nowadays we have vtubers and Damon Albarn pretending to be a cartoon, so.
