Welcome to Glenn Robison's Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can't not tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and '30s. I didn’t have time to make the correction on this week’s show, but on last week’s show I completely left out the details on the first record in the segment about cake, “Cut Yourself A Piece Of Cake (And Make Yourself At Home.)” It was Joseph Samuels’ Orchestra with the vocal by Arthur Hall on Grey Gull 1172 recorded in June of 1923. It was also issued on the Banner, Regal, Broadway and Triangle labels. On this week’s show, as you might guess from the photo above, we’ll play some records about Odocoileus hemionus, the scientific name for the Mule Deer. There’s a huge controversy taking place on Catalina Island over the approximately 2,000 deer on the island, first introduced for hunting in the 1930s and you’ll find out a little bit about it. In other segments, Johnny Dunn, Jack Jackson and Victor Vorzanger all have birthday segments. And we’ll take a musical trip to Harlem. There's lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and prepare to be transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era. Just click the link above to listen streaming online and/or download for listening at your convenience. THANKS FOR LISTENING! ENJOY THE SHOW! Here’s the complete playlist: Segment 1: Johnny Dunn You Need Some Loving – Johnny Dunn and His BandDunn’s Cornet Blues – Johnny DunnSilver Rose – The Plantation Orchestra Segment 2: Victor Vorzanger It All Depends On You – Victor Vorzanger’s Famous Dance BandCrazy Words-Crazy Tune – Victor Vorzanger’s Famous Dance Band / John Thorne, v.Who Threw The Water On The Tom Cat’s Back – Victor Vorzanger’s Broadway Band Segment 3: Jack Jackson Gretchen – Jack Jackson AHO at the Dorchester Hotel, London / Jack Jackson, v.I Always Keep My Girl Out Late – Jack Jackson AHO at the Dorchester Hotel, London / Jack Jackson , Chappie D’Amato +1, v.My Young Man Is Ever So Nice – Jack Jackson AHO at the Dorchester Hotel, London Segment 4: Catalina Island Mule Deer Forked Deer – Jilson Setters (J. Von Daniel, Sven, Stefan und Nils: Manche Brettspiele sind wie gute Freunde: Man trifft sie nicht jeden Tag, aber wenn, dann fühlt es sich an, als wäre keine Zeit vergangen. Happy 2026. This Episode is hosted by Chris Maffeo and brought to you by MAFFEO DRINKS. A Deep-Dive Analysis of This Episode is Available at maffeodrinks.com Mark Ward, founder of Regal Rogue, joins for a conversation validating bottom-up principles through 15 years of vermouth brand building. The discussion explores the actual mechanics of turning one account into ten, ten into a hundred, and the behavior that happens in between those numbers. The conversation challenges common misconceptions about bottom-up building: it's not about being small, building slowly, or lacking ambition. It's about the specific actions required to convert relationships, the constant auditing of whether your message connects with buyers, and understanding that past success guarantees nothing about future performance. Through examples spanning Seedlip's category creation, Diageo's Distilled Ventures program, CÎROC's P Diddy turnaround, and Regal Rogue's 15-year journey to simplifying their serves down to three drinks, the discussion reveals how the nuances of brand building remain fundamentally different across environments. What worked in 2011 operates differently in 2026, and expertise from one launch doesn't translate automatically to the next. The conversation establishes that bottom-up isn't a "small brand" strategy. It's the behavior required at any scale when building genuine relationships and advocacy, whether you're at 1,000 nine liters or 1,000,000 nine liters. The critical work involves constant checking that what you think you're saying actually connects with what buyers hear, because the gap between brand intention and market perception determines everything.Timestamps00:00 Introduction and Greetings00:40 Discussing Bottom-Up Mentality01:51 Challenges in Building a Brand03:57 Realizations and Reflections05:34 Simplifying the Brand Message08:09 Insights on Craft Brands and Big Brands12:55 Principles of Brand Building22:37 Consistency in Brand Messaging31:55 Conclusion and Final Thoughts This episode is brought to you by MAFFEO DRINKS, an Advisory helping drinks leaders execute bottom-up growth while managing stakeholder expectations.

"In 1960s New York City lived a blind, often homeless man with a long, flowing beard, who dressed as a Viking and stood sentinel at the corner of West 54th Street and Sixth Avenue in midtown Manhattan. He sold his poetry and performed on custom-built percussion.  His recordings are considered legendary pieces of original sound emanating from a unique artist who continues to be misunderstood and under appreciated.""Nico was used to being treated as a physical spectacle. At the Dom, Leonard Cohen was a regular guest, and he began writing songs in hopes of seducing her. Her improbable bone structure, and her role in “La Dolce Vita,” intrigued prominent rock managers like Albert Grossman, who worked with Bob Dylan. But her songs were less appealing, and the Dom's clientele often laughed through her set. She was eventually accompanied on guitar by Tim Buckley, and then by Jackson Browne, who had just arrived in New York. Browne became enamored with Nico, and before they fell out—she accused him of harassing her with obscene phone calls—he gave her two songs: “The Fairest of the Seasons” and “These Days,” both of which appeared on her 1967 début, “Chelsea Girl.”-

Vijay Marolia, chief investment officer at Regal Point Capital, says that while artificial intelligence dominated the media landscape for moving the market in 2025, he says that monetary policy was a bigger story for investors, moving gold, silver, precious metals to much bigger gains.  "Commodities told the story of 2025," Marolia said in "The Week That Is," and while he expects AI to continue to be a big story, he said investors should be paying more attention to gold and precious metals. Marolia also talks about the year ahead, one where he expects increased merger and acquisition activity, improvement for value stocks and small companies, a rebound in cryptocurrency and more. Chuck talks about goals versus resolutions for the year ahead, advocating for having a personal system that helps provide focus on personal growth and progress so that you can make the most of the year ahead. Plus, the show revisits a recent conversation with Sam Stovall, chief investment strategist at CFRA Research, who said that the bull market after celebrating its third birthday is in a position to keep running and producing positive returns for longer. He's expecting a modest up year in 2026.

Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesFive Star Review from Parakleets: Love the show and longtime listener to the network! I'm a big fan of the MCU and very excited for Doomsday. I can't wait to see the teaser trailers, but can't figure out why y'all are so mad about it? Does podcasting make you guys more critical or cynical about the “biz”? As quite the opposite of being a filthy casual, I'll happily watch whatever trailers the MCU gives me and then judge the marketing promo after all the teasers are released. The Countdown BeginsThe hotly anticipated first teaser trailer for Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday has officially arrived and with it some substantial reveals. The trailer originally debuted attached ahead of select screenings of Avatar: Fire & Ash last weekend, as expected, before being released online Tuesday morning. Prior to Tuesday morning's drop, reputable film industry trades like Variety already wasted no time running will spoiler-filled headlines addressing the spoilers and the week preceding the official release was plagued with leaked versions of varying quality sweeping the Internet; so, we've waiting long enough ourselves - spoilers inbound if you've somehow managed to avoid them. The trailer is here whether we like the release strategy or not; what do we think of our first official look at Doomsday?Brainiac On the DancefloorJames Gunn's quest to find the DCU's Brainiac has come to end, as Lars Eidenger's begins as he's been cast to play the classic villain in Superman sequel: Man of Tomorrow. The German actor, largely unfamiliar to American audiences but acclaimed for European work like Babylon Berlin, will face off against David Corenswet's Man of Steel and Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor in the sequel releasing July 9, 2027. Gunn has a penchant for taking gambles on relative unknowns and launching them to stardom, can he do it again for such an iconic and formidable foe?A Blue Christmas on Pandora? The aforementioned James Cameron's Avatar: Fire & Ash ignited the box office with a $345 million global opening weekend but opened roughly 22 percent below The Way of Water's $441 million debut. Early projections suggest Fire & Ash will finish around 1.7 to 1.8 billion worldwide rather than joining the elite $2 billion club like its predecessors, raising serious questions about whether Disney will greenlight Avatar 4 and Avatar 5. Has Cameron's box office dominance finally cooled off, or will the holiday legs carry Fire & Ash to the heights The All-Mother demands?Putting the Eye in IMAXChristopher Nolan's The Odyssey dropped its eagerly awaited first official trailer, showcasing Matt Damon in the title role battling to return home after the Trojan War in an epic shot entirely with new IMAX film camera technology. The highly anticipated adaptation features a stacked cast including Tom Holland as Odysseus' son Telemachus and Anne Hathaway as his wife Penelope, with the film already selling out 70MM Imax tickets at AMC and Regal ahead of its July 17, 2026 release. Can Nolan's ambitious vision of Homer's classic tale deliver another legend at the Box Office like Oppenheimer?

My guest for Episode #331 of My Favorite Mistake is Andy Regal, a longtime media executive whose career has included leadership roles at The Wall Street Journal, MSNBC, Consumer Reports, Court TV, and CBS College Sports. He is also the author of the forthcoming book, “Surviving Bully Culture: A Career Spent Navigating Workplace Bullying and a Guide for Healing.” Episode page with transcript, video, and more Andy shares a remarkable early-career mistake from his time producing NBC News war coverage with Lester Holt. A young staffer accidentally loaded last week's script into the teleprompter, and Holt began reading it live on air. Andy, brand new to this type of broadcast, immediately assumed he'd face humiliation or even get fired. Instead, Holt responded with total calm, poise, and kindness—transforming what could have been a career-ending disaster into a lasting lesson on leadership. That moment stands in sharp contrast to the bully bosses Andy encountered throughout his media career. We talk about how bullying shows up in subtle and overt ways, why high performers are often targeted, and how toxic leadership harms morale, performance, and even physical and mental health. Andy explains what recovery looks like and why his book is dedicated to helping people cope with, heal from, and navigate workplaces where bullying is tolerated or ignored. In This Episode: • The wrong-script live TV moment with Lester Holt • Why calm leadership builds psychological safety • The emotional impact of bully bosses • Why bullying thrives in high-pressure environments • How bullying follows people home and affects well-being • What recovery looks like for targets of workplace bullying • Why Andy wrote Surviving Bully Culture Learn More Andy Regal's website & book pre-order: https://www.andyregal.com
