This is the second of two episodes where I was a guest back in 2024 on the Partial Historians, a fantastic podcast which I suggest you check out. Over two epsiodes we discuss the places in ancient Rome linked to the Regal period, or at least tied to it by the later sources. In the second episode I get into a fruit controversy at the Tullianum, what I think is the most important structure in early Rome, Ostia and more. He's expecting a modest up year in 2026.

Im Mittelpunkt steht dabei die Frage, warum bestimmte Titel trotz Interesse nicht auf den Tisch kamen und was sich nach den ersten Partien daran bestätigt oder verändert hat. Als gemeinsamer Rahmen dient ein spielerisches Vorgehen: Zu Beginn wählt jede Person eine Kategorie, die das mitgebrachte Spiel besonders beschreibt, und die anderen versuchen im Gespräch zu erraten, um welchen Titel es geht.Sven eröffnet die Runde mit „Dungeon Up“, einem Print-and-Play-Kartenspiel, das er vor mehr als zwei Jahren über Kickstarter unterstützt hat. Ohne Strategie, aber mit einer Mission: Vertrieb hörbar machen. In dieser Sonderfolge blicke ich zurück – auf über 200 Folgen, unzählige Gespräche und den Moment, an dem klar wurde: Es ist Zeit für eine Pause. Kein Ende. Ein Übergang. Und eine Einladung, Wirkung neu zu denken.

Das «Chlorhuhn» gehört neu zum Schweizer Wortschatz. Wegen des Zolldeals zwischen der Schweiz und den USA sind die Chlorhühner made in USA in aller Munde, wenn auch – vorerst – nicht buchstäblich. Bei der Kür zum Wort des Jahres 2025 gab es fürs «Chlorhuhn» sogar die Bronzemedaille, geschlagen nur von «Frauen-Nati» und «Zollhammer». Donald Trump hatte gegen die Schweiz hohe Strafzölle verhängt, ursprünglich waren es 39 Prozent. Nach schwierigen Verhandlungen mit Washington konnte der Bundesrat die Zölle auf 15 Prozent senken. Die Schweiz musste dafür allerlei versprechen. Neben Milliardeninvestitionen in den USA machte sie Zugeständnisse beim Fleischimport. Bundesrat Guy Parmelin stellte in Aussicht, bei den weiteren Verhandlungen mit den USA auch über die Zulassung von sogenannten Chlorhühnern zu sprechen, von Pouletfleisch, das mit Chemikalien behandelt wurde. Was zu einer Debatte über Chlorhühner führte: In einer Umfrage sagten 95 Prozent, sie würden kein amerikanisches Geflügel kaufen, wenn es im Regal läge.Wäre das tatsächlich so schlimm? USA-Korrespondentin Charlotte Walser ist nach Gainesville, Georgia, gereist, 47'000 Einwohner und  selbst ernannte Geflügel-Welthauptstadt.Weshalb werden die Hühner dort mit Chlor behandelt? Und seine Macht wächst nicht durch Gesetzesverschärfungen, sondern durch Marktlogik.Der neue Überwachungsstaat ist privat. Und genau darin liegt seine Gefahr. Denn er braucht keine Gesetze, um sich auszubreiten. Er braucht nur unsere Bequemlichkeit.Wer heute einen Supermarkt betritt, tritt bereits in ein Labor der Verhaltensanalyse ein. Moderne Filialen setzen Kameras ein, die längst nicht mehr nur Bilder aufzeichnen, sondern Verhalten entschlüsseln: untypische Bewegungen, Zögern, Muster, Abweichungen. Die Algorithmen wissen, ob jemand zielstrebig einkauft oder nervös durch die Gänge läuft. Sie erkennen, wer häufiger zum Regal zurückkehrt, wer suchend umherblickt, wer sich „auffällig“ verhält. Es ist die gleiche Logik, die vor 15 Jahren als „predictive policing“ begann, nur dass sie heute im Konsumtempel stattfindet. Kein Richter prüft das. Kein Parlament kontrolliert es.
