In the summer of 2000 the Nintendo 64 was on it's way out. The PlayStation 2, the sucessor to the N64 rival PlayStation, was coming out later that year and the GameCube was a still over a year away from release. The summer of 2000 was probably the last chance the N64 had of seriously competing in the console market before the next console generation was in full swing and boy howdy did Rare release a game to help usher out the N64 on a high note. Joining me this week is YouTuber Jiggylookback to talk about Rare's "sequel" GoldenEye, Perfect Dark. The game was a technical marvel for the time and really pushed the console to it's limits. Perfect Dark took what Rare learned from GoldenEye and expanded upon it. Not just both in terms of tech but also story and atmosphere. In today's Daily Fix:Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma has commented on the collaboration between Koei Tecmo and Nintendo on the Hyrule Warriors games. Aonuma said that while he hoped the next main series Zelda game would be the Switch 2's first, some elements from Age of Imprisonment did inspire parts of his upcoming game. In Xbox news, the actor who portrayed Joanna Dark in the cancelled Perfect Dark reboot said she did 'entire chapters' of mocap for the game. She confirmed there was a plan to salvage a 'slimmed' down version, but ultimate the project was cancelled. And finally, the upcoming Honda Afeela car will be able to remotely play PlayStation 5 consoles, provided you have a PS5 turned on at home, similar to how the PlayStation Portal's remote play works.. The upcoming EV, produced in collaboration with Sony, is up for pre-order now for the low price of $89,900.
