Howard's back in the captain's chair, but sleep deprivation is the real co-host this week! Join Howard, Kidder, Rudeboy Kyle from Iowa, Doc from the East Coast, and the ever-elusive Big D (location undisclosed) for a wild ride through everything from bizarre beverages to F1 safety concerns! What's on Tap: Beer & Beyond! Get ready for some truly unique taste tests! Rudeboy Kyle sips on a Southside Citra Hop Blonde Ale from Confluence Brewing, while Doc bravely tries Tiff's Spiked Lemonade (with lemon and coconut!). Kidder goes classic with Garage Beer, comparing it to a certain light lager. But it's not all about the brews! Big D struggles with a non-English Coffee Planet package, and Howard introduces a Polish dark lager, Velcopo Vicki, alongside a new "nonIPA month" initiative (don't worry, IPA Appreciation Month is coming!). The Malört & NYC Adventures The group dives into the legend of a very old bottle of Malört left at Howard's. Can this infamously bad liquor actually "go bad?" Doc weighs in with a definitive answer, and Rudeboy Kyle shares news of a barrel-aged version. Doc also recounts his brief but memorable time in New York City, complete with late-night roadwork and a shocking champagne vending machine discovery! Hot Takes, High Tracks, & Gaming Debates Howard's beloved segments are back! Get ready for Dad Jokes of the Week (brace yourselves, Big D isn't a fan!), and dive into the future of racing with a discussion on a controversial elevated Formula 1 track in Saudi Arabia. Rudeboy Kyle raises serious safety concerns, humorously likening it to a dangerous "Rainbow Road!" The gaming deep dive begins with classic video game remasters. Howard wants Perfect Dark, Kidder recalls an arcade-turned-N64 gem like Gauntlet Legends, and Rudeboy Kyle dreams of a Tomb Raider overhaul. The conversation veers into GTA 6's development time and the gaming industry's crunch culture, lamenting buggy releases and day-one patches. The group then shares their love-hate relationship with Mario Party and the perils of online tornado chasing. Driving Woes & Show Shenanigans From stop sign woes in virtual worlds to real-life red light runners, Howard recounts a near-miss driving incident and the satisfying sight of a police pull-over. The gents discuss the frustrations of distracted driving and puzzling traffic light logic. Plus, catch up on random news like a new buck truck in Flashing Lights, a Herabbo gummy bear recall (cannabis contamination?!), and Skittles losing titanium dioxide. Doc laments late-night construction noise in Midtown Manhattan, and Big D shares concerns about steep stairs after a few drinks. Tune in for a jam-packed episode as the gang navigates sleep deprivation, controversial beverages, and some truly wild stories! For the first time, my friends and I could team up and work together to beat a team of computer controlled enemies.I remember playing Perfect Dark for the first time and unironically using phrases like "on your six". Offline bots is a feature I've come to love in games like Timesplitters and Call of Duty Black Ops - Hell, Call of Duty Ghosts lets you play against bots and still gain levels and new equipment. Sadly, this is not a standard feature in FPS's today. But I'm hoping you can make the Perfect Dark lightning strike twice. I want you to suggest a really popular game, but add a SINGLE feature that it does not currently have, and spin that into its own game/series. Give the game its own name, describe how the new feature makes the game so much better, best pitch wins and earns two episode points. [Original air date: 07/12/2024] This week we open up a big 'ol pickle jar full of weird oddities from the PlayStation library. Sometimes weird games are good - are all of these? No. Are some? Hell yeah.
In today's Daily Fix:Looks like the damn has burst. Microsoft has announced that prices for Xbox hardware—including consoles and peripherals—will be going up, along with first-party game prices. The new prices vary, but if you haven't already purchased an Xbox Series X or S, expect to pay at least $100 more. It also places the very premium Series X 2TB Galaxy Special Edition at a higher price point than the already expensive PlayStation 5 Pro, without any enhanced hardware specs to show for it. And you can expect to pay around $80 for new first-party Xbox games like the next Call of Duty and the Perfect Dark reboot. In other news, the Epic Games v Apple saga might be coming to a close. A federal judge has ruled in Epic Games' favor, which paves the way for Fortnite to land back on iOS devices after a five-year hiatus. And finally, Helldivers 2 has plenty of updates planned, and developer Arrowhead's CEO is teasing that they'll make you s*** your pants. That's a direct quote.

We explore the fan and developer relations, particularly focusing on the backlash over character model changes in "Marvel's Spider-Man" and "Spider-Man 2," where the new models for Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson sparked significant controversy and even harassment towards the creative team. We'll also cover the devastating 2023 data breach that compromised 1.67 terabytes of sensitive company data, rallying the gaming community in support of Insomniac. Additionally, Analytic Dreamz discusses the 2024 layoffs amidst Sony's broader restructuring, and the 2020 workplace harassment allegations that led to public demands for improved practices. Financially, we look at the performance of "Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart," which despite its high costs didn't meet sales expectations, leading to a strategic shift towards more profitable Marvel titles. Looking ahead, we examine leaked plans for future projects, including an emphasis on Marvel games up to 2030, and shakeups in leadership for major projects like "Wolverine" and "Perfect Dark," highlighting the challenges and changes in game development. In a week with minimal major beats, the Dukes are able to sink their teeth into a plethora of smaller topics such as Xbox's recruitment of Insomniac's creative director, the fate of PlayStation's Wolverine project, and what this means for Perfect Dark! Furthermore, we try our hand at some data analysis by breaking down the early numbers for Call Of Duty and what impact this can have on Game Pass as well as its future. Indeed, many including us still believe that Black Ops 6 needs to be an absolute smash hit to justify Xbox's tampering with its golden goose. So, what does the limited data say and how does it fare for Xbox? We discuss that, plus more in Remedy's puzzling financial situation, BioWare's uncertain future, Ubisoft's response to recent criticism, and Monster Hunter Wilds smashing records with its beta. Please keep in mind that our timestamps are approximate, and will often be slightly off due to dynamic ad placement. 0:00:00 - Intro 0:06:02 - A new creative director for Perfect Dark 0:13:50 - Xbox showing new hardware in 2025? 0:25:02 - HoYoverse is bringing Zenless Zone Zero to Xbox? 0:26:19 - The future of Gears 0:34:05 - Arkane Studios founder speaks out against Xbox 0:40:37 - Dragon Age: The Veilguard is not getting DLC 0:44:25 - Is Dragon Age getting a Legendary Edition? 0:50:11 - Some updates in the world of Ubisoft 0:59:22 - Monster Hunter Wilds has insane beta numbers 1:01:02 - Remedy's financial situation 1:07:15 - LEGO Horizon Adventures length revealed 1:10:46 - A sequel to HogLeg is in development 1:13:08 - Kingdom Come Deliverance has sold over 8 million units 1:16:24 - Meta's staggering earnings 1:24:53 - Private Division has been sold off by 2K 1:26:07 - SEGA confirms a new Virtua Fighter game 1:28:44 - What We're Playing 1:59:50 - Call Of Duty updates 2:15:59 - Some Undead Labs updates 2:18:57 - Coming soon to Xbox Game Pass 2:25:19 - Game Pass Pick Of The Week Learn more about your ad choices. In today's Daily Fix: Insomniac's Wolverine game has lost its Creative Director, Brian Horton, as he moves from the upcoming Marvel game to take charge of Microsoft's Perfect Dark. Not much is known of the Wolverine game, aside from a teaser several years ago. The Perfect Dark reboot was announced back in 2020, but has languished in development hell until a new gameplay teaser was revealed earlier this year. Horton's previous credits include directing 2015's Rise of the Tomb Raider, and a short stint at Infinity Ward. In other news, Arkane Austin co-founder has some harsh words for Microsoft. Raphael Colantonio, now head of WolfEye Studios, was asked by PC Gamer what his thoughts were of Arkane Austin's closure. Colantonio called the move 'stupid' and the decision was likely to appease investors and stockholders. And finally, more than 50 million mods have been downloaded by Baldur's Gate 3 players. The game has been out for more than a year, but mod support wasn't added until Patch 7 on September 5th of this year. One of the more popular mods? A mod that changes undead character Withers to 'Bone Daddy.'

I fought it for as long as I could, but much like Homer revisiting New York City, it's time for me to face my demons and talk about this damned game. Donkey Kong 64 is the collectathon of all collectathons. You control 5 different Kongs and make your way through a bunch of levels looking for regular bananas, gold bananas, banana birds, coins, blueprints and more stuff I'm probably forgetting. While it's cool that each Kong plays differently and brings something unique to the table, the constant (FUCKING CONSTANT) swapping between them just leaves a sour taste in my mouth that I can't get over. I don't care for this game. My guest, Bradley McCue, isn't the world's biggest fan either. Frankly, I think he's a little harder on the game than I am. But I think we were tough but fair, showed it some love when it deserved it, and voiced our Donkey Kong 64 frustrations in a calm and reasonable manner for the most part. No Angry Adam. And before we go looking for a fucking Kong barrel to swap monkeys with, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, someone asks me to rank the 5 Zelda games I'd most like to see remade. Have I tried one of the remapped N64 controllers? And can we expect more Metroid Prime reviews before Prime 4 drops?? Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 Nintendo 64 Rare games: Banjo-Kazooie, Conker's Bad Fur Day, and Perfect Dark.
