Troy Kinne is an award-winning comedian, actor, writer, producer and director. In the early days of his stand-up comedy career, Troy won almost every new comic competition in Australia. The Comic's Lounge ‘You Gotta be Joking' competition saw him receive the prize of a trip to New York to attend the American Institute of Comedy. He went on to perform at several well-known clubs in the U.S. including Caroline's on Broadway, Stand Up New York, Gotham Comedy club, the Laugh Factory, The Hollywood Comedy Store and The Comedy Cellar. On returning to Australia Troy became a sought-after headline act for The Australian Armed Defence forces, Mining camps and Comedy clubs around the country. In 2010 Troy added some steady work alongside the comedy club circuit, becoming a content producer for the Fifi and Jules radio show and hosting his own regular segment interviewing celebrity guests such as Seth Rogen, Josh Lawson, Simon Pegg and DJ Havana Brown. Troy has made guest appearances on TV and radio including Nova FM's Hughsie and Kate for breakfast, Hamish & Andy, Chrissie, Sam and Brownie, Have You Been Paying Attention, The Hundred with Andy Lee and The Comedy Channel's Stand-Up Australia. However, Troy is mostly known for his own Sketch Comedy TV shows - KINNE (7 Mate) and KINNE TONIGHT (CH10). The KINNE show saw Troy nominated for the 2015 Logie Award for Most Outstanding Newcomer and a number of sketches from his shows have racked up millions of online views worldwide. Troy's comedy is known for being extremely relatable. Proof of this is his video content constantly going ‘viral' with his online following currently sitting at well over 1 million plus across all social media platforms. FULL STORY which is a special movie length opening episode is out now on YouTube which Troy funded himself – check it out (below)! I loved it! About Full Story: Full Story is being labelled by Kinne as a ‘one hour showcase special'. “Rather than being a standard ‘first episode' pilot, episode one of Full Story is essentially a mini movie, resulting in a much more comprehensive example of the vast opportunities for the series and the characters in terms of longevity.” The story follows Tucker Taylor and his struggling publicity agency who find themselves thrust into a situation requiring more time executing crisis management for themselves than their clients. This bold new series boasts a diverse lineup of talent in both background and experience ranging from newcomers, to rising stars to Aussie screen legends – Troy Kinne (Kinne, Kinne Tonight), Genevieve Hegney (Colin from Accounts), Tiana Hogben (Thank God You're Here), Kevin Hofbauer (Hamish and Andy's True Story), April Rose Pengilly (Neighbours), Colette Mann (Prisoner), Kaily Emma Smith (Stakes), Rob Mills (Every musical ever made ever), and Sicilee Diep-Dubois (Acting debut). The popularity of Kinne's previous work has resulted in eager guest appearances from Aussie stars. Lending their talents are Sophie Monk, Josh Lawson and Scott Ryan. The Full Story series explores cancel culture and the consequences that can come with fame whether seeking it or not. However, the real heart of the series is its honesty when portraying behaviour (even if it's a tough pill to swallow for the audience). This is its point of difference – no holding back. We see desperation at its finest from every perspective possible which can be an uncomfortable eye opener, encouraging the viewer to think about, and in some instances, question their own behaviour/thoughts. FULL STORY promises to be a hilarious and entertaining journey for audiences keen to once again indulge in a scripted series with ‘some balls'. We chat about his love of Thailand, creating videos, FULL STORY, heart issues, trusting your gut, being ‘made wrong', regrets, comedy, magic writing on planes, getting tv shows plus plenty more! Ireland's John Duddy fought nine times at Madison Square Garden between 2005 and 2010 – winning them all – and lost just twice in a 31-fight career. At one stage he was right in the mix to fight for the middleweight championship of the world against Kelly Pavlik but boxing had other plans for him. John wrapped up his career in 2011 when he realised his hunger had dimmed, cancelling an all-Irish match-up with Andy Lee, and, bitten by the acting bug, he's never looked back. He's still involved in the sport to this day, spearheading a new programme with the Moving Brains Foundation which put on 54 two-hour sessions for people with Parkinsons Disease in 2024 – and continues to grow and grow. And he is also coaching at Trinity Boxing in New York City, a stone's throw from the World Trade Centre, with the hope of one day opening his own gym. In Part 2 of our interview with The Derry Destroyer, we take up the story as John goes pro in New York and becomes a fixture at The Garden. We go in depth on his work with Moving Brains where his passion shines through. And we ask how he would've fared against the champions of his time – and why you've always got to back yourself. In today's media environment, disinformation and distraction are pervasive. The most troubling issue may not be misinformation but the critical information that is systematically ignored or underreported. Andy Lee Roth, Editor-at-Large of Project Censored, returns to Sustainability In Your Ear to discuss the top censored stories of 2023–2024, with a special focus on environmental reporting. Project Censored has tracked and amplified suppressed stories since 1976, drawing attention to the topics that corporate media tends to ignore. Roth highlights how the U.S. is witnessing explicit censorship of climate-related information alongside the erosion of regulatory frameworks and cutting federal support for scientific research. Media campaigns are designed to resist change and maintain the status quo, even at the expense of future generations. In 2024, most of Project Censored's top stories involve environmental issues, signaling a critical moment in our media landscape. From the health risks associated with gas stoves to the underreported impacts of climate debt, from greenwashed net-zero pledges to global and domestic challenges in water security, vital environmental and climate issues often go unreported. The stories are not lacking in evidence, they are under-reported due to the incentives of media ownership and the influence of advertisers. Roth argues that people can practice media literacy to unpack the incomplete narratives that dominate the media to better understand the world around them. Ultimately, he believes that change lies in the hands of an informed and engaged public. Citizens are the ultimate arbiters of policy, values, and future direction—and it's through independent journalism that society learns and debates a more sustainable and just future. ‘Boxing has a perverse way of turning every significant bout I see into something deeply personal. It is as crooked and as destructive as it is magnificent and transformative. While watching boxers risk their lives, I fall for the gory drama once more…' A passage from The Last Bell: Life, Death and Boxing, by the renowned sportswriter, Donald McRae, who joins us today. Donald is the author of five boxing books, each one more magnificent than the last, but his latest one is set to be the final chapter in a 50-year affair with the sport. I didn't just say ‘love' there, because sometimes it's so much more complicated than that, but it's certainly a consuming passion. There are still compelling characters within the sport, Rocky stories everywhere when you go looking for them, but it's also a business beset by problems – from doping to gangsterism, the free press being replaced with yes-men with cameras and the migration from broadcast networks to subscription-only digital stations. We're also grappling with a future where influencers, on one side, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on the other, hold sway. I've no doubt listeners to this show will be more than familiar with the book before this one, In Sunshine or In Shadow, the surreal story of how boxing gave people hope during the darkest days of the Troubles. And we're delighted to present a conversation with Donald that touches on the fighters who inspired him after a sustained period of grief, covering Oleksandr Usyk, Tyson Fury, Katie Taylor, Isaac Chamberlain and the rise of Andy Lee as a boxing trainer along with covering the growing Saudi influence and the human rights stories adjacent, MTK, doping and influencer boxing. The company behind the blockbuster acne fighter, Mighty Patch, was launched in 2017 with a single product sold exclusively on Amazon. It was inspired by similar patches Ju Rhyu had seen while living in Korea. Ju struggled with breakouts herself, and when she tried a patch and saw how well they worked, she was inspired to tailor a patch for the U.S. market. So, while the product wasn't new, Ju recognized a niche to be filled.Over the next five years, Ju and her co-founders—brothers Dwight and Andy Lee—grew Mighty Patch from a niche product to a cosmetics industry sensation. Seemingly overnight, teens and young adults across America and all over social media could be seen proudly wearing patches on their faces. The Mighty Patch became so successful that in 2022 Hero Cosmetics sold for $630 million. And today, Hero is the number one selling acne treatment brand in the United States. This episode was produced by Chris Maccini with music by Ramtin Arablouei and Sam Paulson.Edited by Andrea Bruce, with research from Olivia Rockeman.
