Xbox is working on a handheld gaming console! And knowing Microsoft's naming standard, will probably call it "Copilot for Your Hands"!   In what is the worst kept secret of the gaming space, we now know that Xbox is partnering with Asus on a gaming handheld to take on the Switch. Will it be any good? Will it still run Windows? All this remains to be seen, but with Steam entering the operating system space, we can see Microsoft starting to sweat a little. Will you pick one up? Or will you continue to use your trusty SteamDeck?   Halo Infinite was about to get the Destiny treatment - 10 years of evolving and growing. But we can all see where that ended up. The utter mismanagement of 343 Industries caused a massive shake up, even to the point where the entire studio was renamed, and Halo was shifted to the Unreal 5 engine. One day, there will be thesis's written about the incredible fumble that was 343i and Halo Infinite.    Diablo IV is about to get harder. A lot harder! People were speed running season 7 way too easily apparently. So now we're all being punished in season 8. Games is making big cuts, closing three studios — Monolith Productions, Player First Games, and WB Games San Diego — and cancelling its long-in-development Wonder Woman game, the publisher told employees on Tuesday. All projects from those studios have been canceled. NetEase began its cuts late last year, with layoffs and studio closures at Mass Effect veteran Mac Walters' new studio Worlds Untold, Halo Infinite design boss Jerry Hook's team at Jar of Sparks, and more recently at Liquid Sword, the company founded by the creator of Just Cause. Quantic Dream, the NetEase-owned developer behind Heavy Rain, Detroit and the upcoming Star Wars Eclipse has broken its silence following the layoffs and shutdowns seen across numerous other NetEase-supported studios. In a statement posted on LinkedIn, Quantic Dream CEO Guillaume de Fondaumière said the studio's teams had not been impacted by NetEase's dramatic cuts, and were "continuing to develop our projects at full pace". My guest today is the American voice-actor and activist Sarah Elmaleh. As a student at Wesleyan University she performed in a variety of theatrical productions and radio plays, spending a portion of her studies at the British American Drama Academy in Oxford. After graduating she moved to Brooklyn, New York, and was working as a stage actor when she fell in with the city's game development scene, and decided to commit her life to the art form. She moved to Los Angeles and began voicing characters in blockbuster games such as Fortnite, Halo Infinite, Gears of War 5, as well as critically acclaimed indie titles such as Afterparty, Pyre, and Gone Home. During this time, she began working as a liaison between game developers and the actor's union, SAG-AFTRA. Today, she sits as chair of the union's Interactive Media unit, working to secure workplace measures that are common elsewhere in Hollywood. Following the post launch support of Halo Infinite, 343 Industries has become one of Xbox's more divisive first party studios. The leash for them has been unnaturally long given the ups-and-downs the flagship franchise has seen since they've taken up the Halo mantle beginning with Combat Evolved Anniversary and, now, Xbox is doubling down on the team. Late night on Sunday during the Halo World Championships a surprise video debuted showcasing a project from 343 Industries that showcases what Halo could look like on Unreal Engine 5 as they officially make the move away from the Slipspace Engine used in Halo Infinite. They also announced multiple projects are in the works and that 343 is now called Halo Studios. Sean and Marc discuss all of this, does this give them hope for the future of Halo? And can Halo regain its flagship status as the premier franchise for Xbox? Also, Marc's been playing the Silent Hill 2 Remake that technically hasn't been fully released yet, but it certainly has a warm reception so far from other critics, but now Marc can give his thoughts on if it holds up compared to the original, do the changes make sense, and is it better? In today's Daily Fix:10 years after Alien: Isolation hit stores, developer Creative Assembly has announced a sequel. The original game's creative director is returning, but no other details were shared. In other news, Halo is undergoing a bit of a reset after developer 343 Industries underwent a name change and company shake-up. Future Halo games will be made with Unreal Engine 5, ditching the Slipspace Engine used for Halo Infinite. And Halo Studios (formerly 343), did confirm that multiple titles are in various stages of development. And finally, weirdos online have taken to Silent Hill 2's Wikipedia page to alter the game's positive reception. The IGN score was changed from an 8 to a 6, Eurogamer's was changed from a 5 out of 5 stars to a 0 out of 5, among others. Wikipedia has since locked the page to prevent anymore tampering, and the cause of the 'vandalism' isn't immediately clear, but the going theory is that it's trolls upset at some cosmetic changes despite the positive scores.

The results for Microsoft Gaming's FY24 Q4 is in and it's mighty telling of where the company is at. On one hand, Xbox is making more money than ever before, but it's come at the loss of hardware sales which are down a staggering 42% YOY. Can Xbox afford to keep this trend up in a world not yet ready for digital only? According to Microsoft CFO Amy Hood, this is all well and fine as the company marches toward content and services. The Dukes dive into all the numbers, including Activision's ability to make the entirety of Xbox a boatload of money in spite of the remaining parts of Xbox plateauing.
