In time for Saint Patrick's Day, actress Katie O'Hagan (Mia Winters in Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village) returns to the podcast to discuss 2015's British-Irish co-produced supernatural horror movie "The Hallow" directed by Corin Hardy with Aaron and Derek! They get into the portrayal of Irish folklore with nature and vegetation, distrust of outsiders, and the horrors of changelings. They also talk about the Lebor Gabála Érenn, the encroachment of modern humanity against old magic, and many other topics about the movie. We've got even more games confirmed for the PS5 Pro that'll be enhanced upon its release. A redditor compiled a list of 54 games with the PS5 Pro Enhanced label on the PlayStation Store. We'll likely see more added upon the PS5 Pro's release in November. Some of the games that'll be receiving the PS5 Pro enhanced treatment are The First Descendants, Resident Evil Village, Stellar Blade, Until Dawn, and even the unreleased Wolverine game. If you want the full list of #PS5 games, you can head on over to IGN for the complete list. It'll be interesting to see how these games will be improved on the #PS5Pro hardware. We'll definitely see some of these games getting more stable frame rates while maintaining resolution and visual details.
Welcome back lovers of all things spooky and scary, to another episode of Surviving the Horror! Released in March 2012 and developed by Slant 6 in just one year's time, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is a much maligned and critiqued entry in the long standing survival horror franchise. Criticized for it's lack of polish, and disregard for the pillars of what makes up a classic Resident Evil title, Operation Raccoon City is certainly the black ship of the family. In fact, it seems that almost every time that Capcom tries to do something different in the multiplayer space with Resident Evil, the title is met with considerable challenges and fan feedback. Operation Raccoon City came from a different era of Capcom, one that hadn't seen the benefits of multiple successful titles released back to back as we've seen recently with the REmake treatments and things like Resident Evil Village. Indeed, as relayed by ORC's director Andrew Santos, Capcom was chasing a different crowd in 2012, the Call of Duty gamer. Releasing the same year as Resident Evil 6, Operation Raccoon City represented an attempt to tell a different kind of story in the Resident Evil universe, with new characters that could expand on the lore and events of the first few games. Was this attempt successful though? Well, that's a tough question to answer. Colin and Josh do their best to parse through the mechanics, story, design, and development of this misunderstood Resident Evil title. When considering the truncated development, and some of the clear love and attention to detail that went in to this title, perhaps some of the initial reactions and reviews were too harsh on the game. Come along with us on a journey through a chaotic warzone, littered with BOWs, waring political factions, and a sinister mega corporation hell bent on cleaning up any evidence of their involvement. It may not be the best Resident Evil title, but we think you'll have plenty of fun along the way. Thank you for listening, and enjoy! We will be back next month with September's game, Still Wakes the Deep!

Let's be honest, when you think of Apple products, gaming isn't one of the words that comes to mind. I have to give them credit though as they've been putting in work to change that, starting with last year's port of Resident Evil Village that looked and ran just as well as its PC and console counterparts, with the exception of a lower framerate and some graphic options.

After a short break, the team return to tackle head on the soft reboot that is the Mold Saga. Following the bloated bioterrorism era, many welcomed the return of a more personal story with Ethan and family and (another) new virus/parasite/agent taking centre stage - this time in the form of Mutamycete or the Mold. Whilst the story may start off self contained, we soon see the return of many Resident Evil hallmarks such as a new Umbrella, spies, paramilitary teams and of course Chris "yes, that's him" Redfield ultimately leading to an interesting cliffhanger in Resident Evil Village. Like our recent Bioterrorism Era podcast, we take each year in turn, starting in 2016 as the Mold and E-001 gains a strong foothold in Dulvey, Louisiana. How does this Mold work? Is it consistent between it and the Mold seen in Village? And what's the deal with Blue Umbrella and the BSAA? Can we learn more from some obscure airsoft pamplets? All of this and more including a discussion on recent RE-REmake rumours plaguing the interweb. Enjoy!

Things have come a long way since the original Resident Evil 4's infamous mobile version more than a decade ago, and now Resident Evil Village runs natively on iOS, bringing AAA console parity to the mobile gaming market. We discuss what this development might mean for the future of not only mobile gaming, but ALL video games. Are we (*gasp!*) finally onboard the mobile game hype train??We'll also be talking about Elon Musk's doomed quest to turn Twitter/X into a Twitch killer, how canceled loot shooter Hyenas was allegedly Sega's biggest budget game ever, and how Capcom's greatest ever catch phrase has been decided by its players for the company's 40th anniversary. Finally, class is in session with Professor Ryebread in our Nostalgia 101 segment. In this episode, Professor Ryebread is sharing his top 5 list of '90s games shows for kids.We love our sponsors! This week, take a seat and tune in as Mark Chappell takes the reins as host, accompanied by the tech-savvy trio: Alan, Dean, Steve. Dive deep into the latest buzz surrounding Apple and the tech world. The new iPhone has hit the shelves, and as expected, the media is abuzz with tales of its durability (or the lack thereof), alleged overheating issues, and whispers about the FineWoven cases not living up to the hype. But wait, there's more! Apple seems to be turning a blind eye to it all. On a brighter note, gear up for some spine-chilling action as "Resident Evil Village" makes its way to the iPhone this Halloween, but brace yourself for that AAA price tag. In other news, iOS 17 is already rolling out another update, MacOS Sonoma has made its debut, and Apple Wallet is gearing up to display user account balances for select banks. All this and a sprinkle of extra insights await you in this week's episode. Don't miss out! We've got Resident Evil on the brain thanks to the latest CG film Death Island. Also CAPCOM announced a few new exciting Resident Evil projects that we highlight in the news section of the show. But before that, we have a director for Twilight of the Dead, and AMC gives us a first look at the final episodes of Fear The Walking Dead. For the Resident Evil news, the Resident Evil 4 remake is getting Separate Ways as DLC (which we'll be covering next week), and the iPhone 15 Pro will be receiving the Resident Evil 4 Remake and Resident Evil Village. After the news we kick off our Resident Evil Death Island discussion, tuck in as CAPCOM brought the whole gang out for this one!
