In this episode I invited Entrepreneur and Business Owner, Amanda White on as my guest. She's a woman and mother in her 30s navigating the bra business & has successfully owned Beyond the Bra Boutique and Mobile for 3 years. Amanda has fit hundreds, if not close to thousands of women & helped them get into a better bra. Not only are they getting a custom bra fitting experience and new bras, but she's providing them a foundation when it comes to how their clothes fit, improving their posture, aches & pains, and instantly witnessing their confidence skyrocket. I sat down with Amanda and we talk all things Entrepreneurship and how we're really just a bunch of misfit creatives who knew we had talent, skill, and a knack for following our gut and going for it. She shares how she got started, the trial and errors of entrepreneurship and how it's more than just bras, it's an experience & opportunity for women to better their lives. Amanda shares the health benefits of wearing a proper fitting bra and how your bra and your seat belt safety go hand in hand. We laugh, we share stories, and we get really real about starting businesses in our 30s. Listen, share, and enjoy

Just as a baby starts growing by consuming milk from its mother, new Christians need someone to feed them, teach them and help them grow. Churches should always be filled with people who are new believers as well as those who are feeding them and helping them mature to become someone who feeds another. Milk is the key to a baby's physical growth -- and a baby Christian's spiritual growth is no different. New believers need someone to feed them, teach them, and support them as they grow. Churches should consistently be filled with a healthy mix of new Christians and those who help them mature to the point of discipling others.

A breast cancer diagnosis is news no one wants to get. Mercifully, the Charlotte area is blessed with opportunities for state-of-the-art treatment. While access to that kind of care can be life-saving or even life-extending, there's more to treating the entire person. That's where resources like Carolina Breast Friends play a role. From the big “pink house” on East Morehead Street, they work to provide a “holistic approach to meeting the needs of the breast cancer community through mentorship, programming and outreach.” Our good friend Lisa Dale is Executive Director at Carolina Breast Friends. She's our guest today on this episode of the BrandBuilders podcast.

"What is Holistic Plastic Surgery? Wellness is an expansive concept. It is comprehensive because its foundation is grounded in many roots. It is aspirational and achievable, and it is accessible to all. The journey of wellness is highly individualistic; because we are different, our paths to our highest selves will be different. Dr. Shirley is a Plastic Surgeon and Integrative Medicine Specialist. She believes that beauty is a manifestation of wellness, and is one of its many dimensions. When you are well, on many levels, you radiate-- and that is undeniably beautiful. Wellness is to beauty what an essential ingredient is to a recipe. The two are fundamentally intertwined; they work well when together. Each may exist independently of the other, but without the other, the essence is incomplete. Join us to find out more!" Michelle Beck has survived breast cancer not once but twice. Because of a family history of breast cancer, she had an inkling that she, too, would be diagnosed, and that if she were diagnosed, she would get a mastectomy. In 2012, Michelle was diagnosed, but when she saw her diagnosis was a treatable ER-PR+/HER2-, she changed her mind and opted for a lumpectomy. However, she was diagnosed again in 2017, and this time sought a bilateral mastectomy with full reconstruction. She has gone into remission and seeks to help others through her involvement with the support group Breast Friends of Oregon. After beginning as a volunteer, Michelle is now on staff at Breast Friends, and hosts the weekly Breast Friends Cancer Support Network podcast.
Why is it so important to connect with others who "get it" during and after cancer treatment? Often, there is a sense of isolation and loneliness at this time. Supportive friends and family may be around, but they may not know the right things to say or what to do. Breast Friends has developed a wonderful program we call "Girls Nite Out." It serves to support sisterhood and we all need girlfriends! The monthly support groups are a time to share cancer journeys, interests and make new friends. After Michelle was diagnosed with cancer a second time and endured a challenging treatment year, she was lost - emotionally and physically. She took a job at her son's school and had to quit after 3 days due to the pain in her body. Cue major soul searching; she needed to do SOMETHING. Thankfully, Breast Friends of Oregon was literally one mile from her house and she went in to volunteer. At this support organization, she found a strong desire to give back and help other women, taking cancer and finding the silver linings out of it. Personally, she found that writing out her experiences brought her joy and now terms herself an “over-sharer.” Nothing about her cancer journey is off limits if it will help others. Her goals are to finish a book about what she has learned from cancer and to shout it from the rooftops via written words, on any stage that will have her and also as the host of the Breast Friends Cancer Support Network podcast.

When you go through something as serious as surviving breast cancer, it is often said that yourperspective on life changes and you realize what is truly important to you. But what happens in between the treatment and a return to so-called ‘regular life' as a cancer survivor?Having gone through treatment for breast cancer, a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery herself, Sharon was asked to help guide women going through the aftermath of cancer treatment. Realizing there was a much broader need for support, Sharon co-founded Breast Friends, an organization that helps cancer survivors take back their power, with programs, retreats and workshops designed to help women create a road map for their life beyond cancer.Later, Sharon was given the opportunity to make an impact on women's health in countries whereeducation around breast health and cancer was severely lacking. As the co-founder of Breast Advocates International, her mission is to educate and support women, advocating for early detection of breast cancer in the hopes of reducing mortality in countries that do not have access to diagnostic imaging. In this episode:1.
