If you reflect on the joyous music that graced the Billboard Hot 100 in the summer of 2015, it would be hard to believe that people were engaged in activities beyond falling in love and relishing a warm breeze. No song illustrated this point more vividly than OMI's “Cheerleader,” a whimsical tropical tune that soared to the coveted #1 spot on the charts. However, the question remains: why didn't the US clamor for more of OMI, considering he undeniably had songs worthy of being soundtracks to fireworks and hula hoop sessions? This week, we're joined by Tony Hartman to explore whether we can consider ourselves as cheerleaders for OMI's career. If you like the show, be sure to rate, review, and subscribe. 1994 was a landmark year for both music and film. Somewhere in that whirlwind of Dookie and the Shawshank Redemption, the Downward Spiral and Forrest Gump, and The Blue Album and Pulp Fiction was LUCAS. No, not the 1986 Corey Haim movie…we're talking about the Danish rapper Lucas, and his single “Lucas With The Lid Off”. The song was in regular rotation on MTV, thanks partly to a Michel Gondry directed music video. This week, Tony Hartman returns to the show to discuss this jazz rap / electro swing jam. Did we catch the vibe, or was he was a ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba ba-ba ba-blunder? Tune in to this week's episode to find out! If you like the show, be sure to rate, review, and subscribe. Not only is Episode 39 the LAST PODCAST IN IT’S 30S, but it’s also the LATEST podcast that the guys have ever recorded. Joined by very special West Coast guest Tony Hartman, Mike and Chris cast pods into the wee hours of the night (until about 11:30 PM EST). It is an extremely important episode, as Tony opens up about his current battle with Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy type 2i, an extremely rare and debilitating disease with no cure. Stem cell treatment is a very promising option, but it is also an expensive one. The guys discuss Tony’s current campaign to fundraise enough money to travel abroad and get the help he needs. His story and positive outlook are both inspiring and uplifting, as he battles a problem that he refuses to let define him. To say that this is a CAN’T MISS EPISODE would be putting it lightly…what would be much more accurate would be to say that this is the BEST EPISODE YET.
In this star-studded episode, Chris and Mike take a trip to record ON LOCATION in Cleveland, Ohio. With special guests Tony Hartman and Justin Will, the guys all compete in the LAUGH OLYMPICS to find out who the true TITAN OF COMEDY is. Between phone pranks, stand-up, and improv, they cover all the comedy bases. This absolutely incredible episode will leave you thinking, "Wow, that was the BEST EPISODE YET."
