0:00 ... Ross hello, welcome, and introduces the gang ... 1:14 ... Ross dedicates episode #150 to Zach "Zeebo" Randolph, who wore #50 in his long NBA career. 1:24 ... Ross live commercial read for BetOnLine ... 2:02 ... Bruce introduces tonight's guest, Lakers reporter Ryan Ward 2:40 ... Ryan shares his thoughts on the "Running Point" series on MAX that is based on Lakers owner Jeanie Buss 3:58 ... "World B" points out how streaky the Lakers have been in March and Ryan shares his thoughts on how the team goes on "Benders" at times and remains a puzzle as to how far they're capable of going in the playoffs. 6:11 ... Ross asks what the biggest difference is when LeBron is on the floor vs. when he is not.  Ryan has a great analytical point about how the spacing is affected when LeBron is on the floor. 8:10 ... Ross points out that when Luka Doncic is running the offense, there is better motion in LA's offense and Ryan points out how LeBron causes the motion to stop when he has the ball at the top of the key. 9:50 ... Bruce asks Ryan whether LA has what it takes to win key games down the stretch and secure the #2 seeding in the west.  Ryan feels they do not.  He is concerned that the Lakers could fold quickly in the playoffs. 11:53 ... LA has really struggled on the road this season and Ryan points out that the Lakers had three straight "back to back" road games and sometimes they were guilty of playing down to the level of their opponents. 13:55 ... Bruce points out that Austin Reaves has been an outstanding "third wheel" with LeBron and Luka and Ryan explains how he continues to amaze and will be relied upon heavily in the playoffs.  Ryan sees comparisons between Reaves and Hall of Famer Manu Ginobili. 16:40 ... Ross asks Ryan how much LeBron's endorsement has meant to Reaves' development. 17:46 ... Rookie Dalton Knecht has been impressive after returning to the Lakers after having his trade to Charlotte rescinded.  Ryan doesn't really understand how coach JJ Redick is using him and thinks they may trade him again if they can get a quality big man in return. 19:39 ... The guys discuss JJ Redick's coaching job in his rookie year.  Ryan likes his intensity, passion, and intelligence. 21:09 ... Ross and Ryan discuss Redick's readiness to coach well in the playoffs. 22:52 ... LeBron James has been acting out lately with battles against ESPN's Stephen A. Smith and Brian Windhorst ... Ryan feels there is a "Wrestlemania" element to the whole thing.  Especially when LeBron did it on the Pat McAfee's show. 25:37 ... Bruce feels LeBron acted like a bully in his comments about Windhorst and Ryan feels like Stephen A. came out on top in this situation.  Ryan loves how Mike Wilbon also checked in with his thoughts on the whole thing. 28:11 ... Ross has two quick hitters about LeBron's positive comments on Giannis Antetokounmpo and also asked Ryan if he and LeBron ever locked horns over something Ryan wrote or said. 30:20 ... Bruce offers Ryan some advice on how he can mix it up with LeBron and make worldwide news if there is ever beef between them. 31:18 ... Ryan tells everyone how to find him on social media and shares an update on his "Jello Jigglin" podcast. 32:14 ... Show reset and discussion of the Boston Celtics, who won their 9th straight game on Monday night.  They appear to be peaking at the right time and are ready to flip the switch.  Bruce credits head coach Joe Mazzulla with guiding the team through a long season and giving his reserves lots of minutes so they can contribute in the postseason.  World B cautions that the Celtics starting lineup has not been as dominant as we expected. 38:08 ... Ross expands the discussion on how Boston's bench has stepped up and how it bodes well for the postseason.  Bruce points out the value of veteran Al Horford and what a luxury it is that Boston has him. 38:24 ... The Taylor Jenkins firing is a head scratcher and Bruce is angry that the Grizzlies GM has not really given a good explanation as to why it was done.  Bruce is concerned how the lack of information about the firing casts a cloud over Jenkins since some may suspect him of "shenanigans" when there may not have been any.  World B feels like the Grizzlies team has tailed off badly in the second half of the season. 41:37 ... Ross wants Suns owner Mat Ishbia to hire Jenkins as the lead assistant for Mike Budenholzer and run the offense in Phoenix. 42:43 ... The Milwaukee Bucks are a hot mess with Damian Lillard out indefinitely ... Bruce thinks former head coach Adrian Griffin might be laughing at the situation he left behind since he was fired with a 30-13 record last season and the Bucks have been pretty "meh" since then, winning just 59 of 113 games.  None of the guys feel the Bucks are capable of winning a playoff series at this point. 46:16 ... Breaking news!  PJ Tucker is signing a 2 year deal with the Knicks and will be a steady veteran presence.  Ross has high praise for PJ whom he worked with in Phoenix and called PJ "the new Taj Gibson.". 47:03 ... The guys recap the Sunday night Pistons/Timberwolves brawl and discuss the Pistons and their "Bad Boy" culture.  World B has had enough of the fake "tough guy" act from Isaiah Stewart.  Bruce initially thought there would not be any suspensions as a result of the brawl but Ross disagreed and Bruce was convinced and changed his mind. 53:22 ... The guys make their choices for the college hoop championship ... Ross and World B like Houston and Bruce likes Auburn. 54:15 ... Ross says goodbye ... TRT 54:30

In this episode, CP "The Fanchise" is joined by content producers, Dexter Henry (SNY TV) and Eric Newman (Showtime Basketball). CP & his guests dive into a thought-provoking conversation sparked by Brian Windhorst's recent comments about the state of NBA media. Has storytelling taken a backseat to quick, engagement-driven content? The panel discusses the shift from in-depth narratives to hot takes and viral highlights, examining how these changes impact both die-hard and casual fans.Dex explains why storytelling is vital to connecting fans with players and fostering a deeper appreciation for the game. Eric highlights the challenges facing content creators who prioritize authenticity in an industry increasingly driven by clicks. Together, they tackle the nuances of modern media, including the debate over player load management, repetitive GOAT conversations, and the viral nature of social media trends like “start-bench-cut.”The episode also touches on the influence of race and historical biases in NBA coverage, contrasting this with the NFL's more consistent media treatment. Finally, the hosts explore what a balanced NBA media diet could look like and why platforms that focus on quality narratives have the power to reshape the NBA media landscape.Tune in for an insightful discussion on where NBA media stands today and what it will take to revitalize meaningful storytelling in basketball coverage.Show notes:- **(00:00 - 01:06)**: Brian Windhorst voiced concerns on the *Tenacious Podcast*, saying NBA media is struggling because it's focused on quick social media content rather than storytelling, which traditionally helped build the league's fan base and connection with players.- **(01:06 - 01:59)**: Dex supports Windhorst's points, emphasizing that as a storyteller, he misses the narrative depth that NBA coverage used to offer. He argues that the focus on "hot takes" and high-level teams detracts from meaningful coverage.- **(02:50 - 04:43)**: Dex cites examples of effective storytelling, such as articles that explore players' backgrounds or specific techniques, which are rare in today's media. He argues that NBA coverage has shifted from nuanced narratives to surface-level, engagement-driven content.- **(06:09 - 07:02)**: Discussion on how the NFL doesn't face the same media criticism, suggesting that the NBA's coverage is weakened by repetitive debates and an emphasis on sensationalism over thoughtful analysis.- **(09:22 - 10:32)**: The conversation highlights that current NBA media values clicks over depth, often focusing on analytics-driven content rather than human stories that foster fan loyalty.- **(14:10 - 15:08)**: CP and Dex explore how mainstream outlets prioritize quick, viral content to appeal to casual audiences and younger viewers, often sacrificing in-depth storytelling for engagement metrics.- **(17:33 - 18:53)**: Discussion on the downside of simplistic social media trends, like "start-bench-cut" games, which can reduce player analysis to superficial comparisons instead of fostering appreciation for different talents.- **(26:35 - 27:42)**: The hosts criticize how historically, NBA media often lacked diversity, leading to coverage that didn't fully reflect players' experiences and backgrounds.- **(30:11 - 31:06)**: Dex argues that media criticism of the NBA often includes racial undertones, particularly in relation to stylistic changes in gameplay, while other leagues like MLB face less scrutiny despite viewership declines.- **(33:23 - End)**: The hosts discuss their current projects, including upcoming NBA content, and express their hopes that their storytelling approach will set a positive example, encouraging the NBA media landscape to evolve and improve.Follow us on Youtube for Support the show

Rob had a rough experience at a rental place with some dated furniture and no A/C, which got us all thinking about the things that remind us of our childhoods… everything from cars with no seatbelts to plastic on the furniture! And we immediately dive into one of the biggest stories of the week after Tyreek Hill got detained before the Dolphins game, including the crazy audio from the police body cam. Rob feels like both sides were at fault and how he advises his family to always comply with the police in the moment and deal with the fallout later, because you never know when an angry cop can make a situation a lot worse. And on the heels of the Tyreek incident we make our picks for this week’s Draft Kings Pick Six on the Dolphins-Bills game. We also touch on this ridiculous storyline from Windhorst about whether or not JJ Redick “believes” in Austin Reaves – and Rob says he believes in him coming off the bench and doing the job he was paid for, and how this is a typical BS offseason storyline. Plus there’s some audio of the big fella out there this week, as Shaq appeared on the Pat McAfee Show and said he doesn’t view Wemby as a “dominant” player. Rob agrees on the terms that you define dominance as guys who play with physical force, and it’s unfair to compare a guy like Wemby to Shaq. And some crazy audio from Angel Reese as she comes out on her show and talks about some of the wild hate that she’s received. There’s a lot to talk about from this wild NFL opening weekend, including Giants fans burning Daniel Jones jerseys after one week, the huge Raiders-Chargers fights, and everyone’s take on the announcement of Kendrick Lamar as the Super Bowl Halftime performer. And of course some of the college football fallout from Notre Dame to Michigan, and the Governor of New Hampshire gets the Big Shot of the Week for a wild reason! Delving in deeper, Megan speaks on the difference between looking to a deck of cards to make your business decisions and tapping into your intuition for the answers. She talks about the best ways to tap into your own intuition, why it's so much harder to make small business decisions than big ones, and how to distinguish something that's out of your comfort zone from something that's not aligned with your goals. As always, cheers to your evolution!  Key Takeaways: There are many ways to connect with your own intuition. Eric is Back! In this episode, we discussed:- the courage it takes to leave a secure career, - the fear of hurting loved ones when leaving a family that no longer aligns with your truth,- and the philosophical question of whether free will truly exists. **Reflections and transcript: https://eggshelltherapy.com/podcast-blog/2024/06/23/eric2/Eric's life story: https://www.ericwindhorst.ca/resources/on-intuition-energy-and-spirituality/** This conversation with Eric delved deep, touching on those universal life questions we all ponder.  We went deep.Eric generously walked us through his journey of making a major career shift later in life, leaving behind the security of a science career to follow his heart and become a therapist. He didn't shy away from addressing the very real anxieties around finances, societal expectations, and the weight of responsibility we often feel as adults. If you've ever felt that pull towards a different path but fear held you back, Eric's experience will resonate.I am incredibly grateful for his vulnerabilities and openness- Eric opened up about his decision to leave a marriage that no longer felt aligned with his truth. He spoke with such sincerity about the complexities of this experience—the pain, the fear, and most of all- the fear of hurting those he loves. His willingness to be so vulnerable was a gift to us all. Sometimes, choosing authenticity means making difficult choices, even when it hurts. And for those intellectually inclined, we also delved into the age-old debate of free will versus determinism. Do we truly control our destinies, or are we guided by a force beyond our understanding? What I loved about this conversation was that it was not an interview but more like two friends just… talking. Conversing. We were touching upon anything that came into our minds about life, the universe, everything. I hope you'll listen with an open heart and mind because Eric's insights were rich and deep, and they might spark something in you too. Listening to Eric, I felt connected to his story. Even though his experiences were unique, they reflected the common struggle we all face when trying to break free from what society expects of us to find our true paths. He reminded me that this journey is never straightforward. What if the outcome of one game could change the entire trajectory of the NBA Finals? In this episode, we start with some thrilling personal news, including the launch of our new YouTube podcast and an exciting move to Atlanta. We then dive into the heart of NBA Finals Game 4, where Dallas unexpectedly blew out Boston. While it's easy to get caught up in the hype, we urge caution and highlight the difficulty of sustaining peak performance throughout a series. We discuss the mentality of athletes, the irrational confidence that fuels their greatness, and question whether Dallas, with stellar performances from Luka and Kyrie, can engineer an unforgettable comeback.Next, we turn our attention to the Celtics' future and what this loss means for their championship hopes. We break down Tim Hardaway's sudden impact and debate if this game was just an anomaly or a sign of things to come. Drawing comparisons to legendary teams like the 0-4 Pistons and the 17 Warriors, we explore the depth and completeness of the 2024 Celtics. Despite our admiration for players like Jason Tatum and Jalen Brown, our feelings about supporting the Celtics are mixed, influenced by our distaste for their coach Joe Mazzulla and the legacy of Paul Pierce. We also delve into how personal biases and historical rivalries shape our perspectives on current and past players. Finally, we tackle the intricate dynamics of fandom versus analysis. Using Bill Simmons and Ryan as case studies, we question whether figures like Rich Paul and Brian Windhorst owe their careers to LeBron James and evaluate Windhorst's credibility. We share personal stories about watching pivotal NBA Finals moments and discuss fans' deep-seated animosities, particularly towards the Celtics. Shifting focus to Southern California teams, we explore potential trade scenarios involving Paul George and Klay Thompson, their implications for the Lakers and Warriors, and the future of these franchises. This episode wraps up with a heartfelt discussion about family connections, making it a must-listen for any basketball aficionado.Support the Show.

Things are getting really tight in the Western Conference, and number of combinations and permutations when it comes to potential end-of-the-year standings could make your eyes bleed. The Lakers could still finish anywhere from 6th (with a lot of help) to 10th (if they don't help themselves). And suffice to say, if they have any prayer of rising higher than their current lot (9th) they need to win out, starting tonight at home against the Warriors. It's the last home game of the regular season, and the Lakers can either solidify the opportunity to host at least one of their (potentially) two play-in games, or leave themselves vulnerable to having to win two games on the road just to make the main draw. Win, on the other hand, and everything from eight to six is still live, at least for another day. It won't be easy. The Warriors are playing very good basketball after a season of wild swings. In that sense, they're a lot like the Lakers. That's true both looking at their paths this season, and the overarching questions about each team's future. But for now, it's about winning whatever advantages are left on the table to take. LeBron James should be back from the illness that kept him out of Sunday's loss to Minnesota, but there's still no word on the availability of Anthony Davis (eye.) Meanwhile, there was interesting talk on this week's edition of The Hoop Collective on ESPN, with Brian Windhorst. The conversation turned to D'Angelo Russell, and his player option for next year. Windhorst believes Russell will opt out of that year, having a) outplayed it over the course of this year, and b) not wanting to enter next season as an expiring contract leaving him once again on the trade block basically from moment one. So if he does opt out, would that mean an end to his Lakers career? Would the team be interested in giving him a new deal? If they aren't... what's next?  HOSTS: Andy and Brian KamenetzkySEGMENT 1: Lakers vs. Warriors. The 2023 NBA All-Star Game marked a new low for the event.
