Speaker: Pastor Sam Murphy Pastor Sam started the message by reviewing each of the previous messages in this series. We started with Roll for Initiative - How God is our DM, the second message Level Up! - How we can grow stronger through salvation. Third, The BBEG - Who satan is from scripture. Fourth, Ready for Battle! - How we can be prepared for spiritual battle. Fifth, Don't Split the Party - How we should get along with one another. And sixth, New in Town - How we need to be salt and light. And now that you are caught up you are ready for the ADVENTURE! It's a running joke that most table-top role-playing games begin with the group starting their adventure in a place that sells food and beverages. It is at this location that the party finds out who they are going to meet, and/or what they are going to do for the adventure. Their quest-giver may have them go rescue a cat from a tree, find some kind of special object, or even slay a dragon. In real life, we too, have a quest-giver. His name is Jesus. He has a quest for us to go on that is life-changing for us, and for those that we meet along the way. 3 things we must do while questing for Jesus. (Acts 1:6-11)

On this episode of The Nitty Gritty, Noah talks to author Menno Schilthuizen about his book "Darwin Comes to Town: How the Urban Jungle Drives Evolution", the crazy evolutionary changes happening to animals in cities, how cities are actually rich with biological life, becoming an urban-naturalist, and a classic battle of creationism vs evolution. We think of species taking a long time to adapt to changes in their surroundings. Not necessarily, says evolutionary biologist and ecologist Menno Schilthuizen. In his new book, "Darwin Comes to Town: How the Urban Jungle Drives Evolution" he asserts we can find evidence right in our own back yard. Schilthuizen says plants and animals can adapt quickly to survive. Things like mating preferences and diet are in flux when it comes to city living.
Hey there word nerds! Today, I have the pleasure of interviewing Brandy Colbert, the critically acclaimed author of several YA and Middle Grade novels. Her books include Pointe, Stonewall Award winner Little & Lion, Finding Yvonne, The Revolution of Birdie Randolph, and her 2020 releases, The Only Black Girls in Town, and The Voting Booth. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. It was the season of light, it was the season of darkness. We had everything before us, we had nothing before us.David Hartrick joins Steven Chicken once more via his dodgy 1982 Cup Winners Cup microphone to talk through Huddersfield Town's limp defeat to Swansea City and their triumphant win over Bristol City. See, th--that's why we called this episode that, you see.We talk through the two games and look at whether or not people may have overreacted a little bit in response to that Swansea loss. And what lays ahead for Town? How many points do they need to be safe? And can you put chalk on pizza? For information regarding your data privacy, visit acast.com/privacy

When you think of evolution, you probably imagine a slow process, one that happens in some verdant jungle or plain. For example: Homo Sapiens gradually evolving over millions of years on the savannah. Or the finches of the Galapagos adapting to their unique environment. But Menno Schilthuizen, a biologist and author of “Darwin Comes to Town: How the Urban Jungle Drives Evolution,” says that evolution can hapen a lot faster, and a lot closer to us, than we might think. And humans, along with the cities we build, drive a lot of it.

American artist, Mark Dion has a new exhibition on in London: Theatre of the Natural World . Dion is exhilarated by the natural world but tells Anne McElvoy why his art is about how we classify it and what that says about us. Virginia Woolf: An Exhibition Inspired by her Writings opens at Tate St Ives so Anne McElvoy finds out how questions about colour perception and insect behaviour in turn inspired the writer. Literary scholars Claudia Tobin and Rachel Murray discuss. Evolutionary biologists, Menno Schiltuizen and Suzanne Williams, tell Anne about how colour and invertebrate studies in ecosystems old and new are refining our understanding of evolution.
