The 2024 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball tournament broke all kinds of viewership records. From Iowa and Caitlin Clark, to Angel Reese and LSU, to Dawn Staley's undefeated and national champion USC Gamecocks, it was a tournament to remember. I've invited Jill Bodensteiner back to the podcast to take us inside the NCAA team selection process for this marquee event. Take a peek behind the scenes of NCAA Women's Basketball in the Selection Room. Join committee members during conference tournaments in Indianapolis as they discuss team selection and seating arrangements. Experience the process firsthand as criteria are reviewed, rules are followed, and brackets are formed. From thoughtful deliberations to collaborative decision-making, explore the careful planning that goes into creating the tournament. It's an inside look at the dedication and attention to detail that define NCAA Women's Basketball. Here's the link to the Synergy app that Jill mentioned in the conversation.
On this week's episode, the boys kick off by celebrating ONE HUNDRED EPISODES. Dante and Josh are so unbelievably thankful that you beautiful idiots let their ridiculous thoughts enter your brains once a week. It's been such a fun ride and we wouldn't trade it for the world. You all are the best in the world. The boys kick off the sports talk this week breaking down the March Madness Men's and Women's national championships. The UConn Huskies take their second title in as many seasons, and the USC Gamecocks complete a perfect 38-0 season. Josh and Dante give their thoughts on what a second consecutive title means for Danny Hurley's legacy in the pantheon of NCAA Basketball, and why Dawn Staley should be mentioned as well in the “GOAT” conversation. The Orioles dropped two of three in Pittsburgh largely due to torrential offensive woes, led by Gunnar Henderson and Adley Rutschman. The boys talk about what the offense is lacking and how they can get back on track. They take games one and two in Boston thanks in part to some offensive help, and hopefully Colton Cowser has cemented himself as an everyday starter. Lastly, a live reaction to the breaking news of Jackson Holliday being called up to join the big league roster. Kyle Van Noy has re-signed with the Ravens on a two year deal, and just like the boys said a few weeks ago, this was one that EDC needed to get done. The boys discuss a “Mount Rushmore” on this week's show, this time discussing who deserves to be on the MR of EDM artists. The boys agree on some, but have a few interesting takes on their remaining spots. Lastly, we wrap with our new “what are we listening to” segment, and we send you into a fantastic weekend. Cheers to you!
Ball St - Big Win 45-3 and now Training Camp is over. Conference play starts. USC Gamecocks and Beamer ball roll into town. Let's find out! Go Dawgs!
In her five seasons as Director of Sports Performance-Women's Basketball at The University of South Carolina, Molly Binetti, has seen the Gamecocks lose but only 19 games. And, she's been on board to witness 152 wins that include NCAA Sweet Sixteen, NCAA Final Four twice and an NCAA National Championship! (The COVID19 fiasco eliminated a run for another championship opportunity when the Final Four was canceled). All this in just five years at USC. What an experience!! So, it comes as no surprise that HAMMER STRENGTH Clinics sought out this championship caliber performance coach as one of their top notch presenters at the Spooky Nook Sports Center complex in Hamilton, Ohio. Ted Lambrinides, Tommy Moffitt, Niko Palazeti. Al Johnson. Molly Binetti to name a few. All experienced, detailed and highly motivated coaches that HAMMER STRENGTH brought in to provide a learning experience and environment to help coaches who have a strong desire for personal advancement. Coach Molly Binetti is now tweaking the program a bit as the USC Gamecocks prepare for an off-season program that prepares South Carolina WBB for another SEC and national championship opportunity..... along with an international tip-off this November 6th in Paris, France. In this podcast, recorded on location and surrounded by HAMMER STRENGTH equipment in Hamilton, Ohio, Molly describes how she got her career started in the strength and conditioning profession and updates us on the preparation for the coming 2023-24 season, as the team is on break in accordance with NCAA rules concerning mandatory off time. However, after mid June.... It's on!! And, it has to be because, as Binetti reminded me, the Southeastern Conference is a "super physical league.....you get your butt kicked every night". So, a huge shout out to one of the best in the business, Molly Binetti. We wish her continued top tier success. Here's the podcast, sponsored by SPECATHLETIC and their world renowned Regupol sports flooring. Ed Cicale
