Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today's it's the matchup between right tackle Broderick Jones and Baltimore Ravens left outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy. After a shaky start, Jones has been playing outstanding football down the stretch in 2024. According to PFF, he has given up just three sacks since Week 9. The bad news? All three of them came against the Baltimore Ravens. Jones gave up one sacks against Baltimore in Week 11 and two in Week 16. If he can go out and throw down a clean game against Van Noy, that would provide a lot better pass protection that Russell Wilson has been getting as of late, which could jump-start the veteran quarterback after a few tough games. It should also give the team a lot more confidence about going into 2025 with Jones as a starting tackle after a slow start to 2024. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Happy new year! The boys are back kicking off the new year with the same old bullshit. Josh recaps his Holiday hijinks (pun intended) from Hijyix festival in Philadelphia, as well as the Space Laces show in Charlotte on NYE. Going way back to Christmas day, the boys dive into their recap of the 31-2 assault the Ravens put down on the Houston Texans. Lamar was efficient and took matters to the ground on occasion, but this game was largely the Derrick Henry show. Tallying 27 carries for over 140 yards and a score, the king proved to the country why he's still the King. Also, Dante takes a look at some of the run fits that has him asking “what exactly is Todd Monken on?” The defense also played a stellar game as they held the Texans offense to ZERO (0) points in the game, Kyle Hamilton and Ar'Darius Washington both made key plays in pivotal moments that helped close out the win. Kyle Van Noy continues his career year, and Odafe Oweh tallied a sack as well in addition to his highest single season total. Lastly, we don't want to say it too loud, but it seems that Justin Tucker is kicking good balls again. The sports media world is ablaze with MVP discourse between Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson, so the boys had to weigh in. Dante actually credits and defends Dan Orlovsky's take, but explains why Dan isn't exactly looking at it the right way. The Ravens have their final game of the regular season on Saturday, welcoming the Cleveland Browns to town to close out the year. The Browns will be starting Dorian Thompson-Robinson again this week, and could be missing some key players. From Josh and Dante, the message is simple: get the job done and stay healthy. The boys talk a little about college football as the CFP is still going on. Is Ohio State good? And can Penn State win a big game? Lastly, rave fashion is… something. We love you all so much. Thank you for another year of rocking with us. Cheers!

On today's show, Pat, AJ Hawk, and the boys chat about last night's Thursday Night barnburner between the Seahawks and the Bears that ended with a decisive 6-3 victory for the Seahawks in what was possibly the worst watch of the season. They discuss the NFL needing to figure how to to appropriately flex games so we don't have to worry about those type of games this close to the playoffs, before looking at the entire week 17 slate and making their picks against the spread. Joining the progrum to preview the College Football Playoff Quarterfinals, and which matchups he thinks are the most intriguing is 7x National Champion, College GameDay panelist, the GOAT, Nick Saban. Later, 2x Super Bowl Champion, member of the Patriots 2010's All-Decade Team, and current pash rusher for the Baltimore Ravens, Kyle Van Noy joins the show to chat about the Ravens current hot run, why he thinks he's having such an unbelievable year, their defense hitting their stride at the right time, playing with Lamar Jackson, and much more. From costume safety to dangerous driving states, this episode is packed with insights you don't want to miss. Takeaways: The Worst States to Drive with Vision Impairments: Dr. Flannery ranks the five U.S. states with the most relaxed vision requirements for drivers, revealing alarming standards that may put other drivers at risk. In this episode of Knock Knock Eye, I discuss the recent injury of NFL linebacker Kyle Van Noy, who suffered an orbital fracture during a game. Van Noy criticized the time it took for an eye doctor to reach him in the locker room, but I offer a behind-the-scenes look at why this might not be as shocking as it seems. From the logistics of getting an ophthalmologist to a stadium to understanding orbital fractures, this episode dives into the complexities of eye injuries in professional sports and what we can learn from this unusual situation. Takeaways: The Logistics of Eye Care in Sports: Kyle Van Noy's injury highlighted the challenge of quickly accessing specialized care, like ophthalmologists, during professional sports events, which can take longer than expected for specific injuries. The Dangers of Eye Subluxation: Eye subluxation, where the eyelids get trapped behind the eyeball, can occur in conditions like severe thyroid eye disease. This rare and serious condition requires immediate medical attention to prevent permanent vision loss. Gene Therapy for Inherited Eye Diseases: The episode briefly touches on advancements in gene therapy for rare conditions like Leber congenital amaurosis, offering hope for patients with inherited retinal diseases as groundbreaking treatments become more available. — To Get Tickets to Wife & Death: You can visit Glaucomflecken.com/live We want to hear YOUR stories (and medical puns)!
