If you've already picked a side in the Austin Metcalf–Karmelo Anthony case based solely on race — you're missing the point entirely. On today's "Fearless," Jason tackles the emotional and complicated layers of this tragedy. The internet is ablaze with hot takes, but Jason challenges viewers to look deeper — not through the lens of race but through the lens of truth, fear, and ultimately, forgiveness. While the motives behind Karmelo Anthony's decision to take Austin Metcalf's life can be debated, one thing is clear: This is a tragedy. Full stop. And when Austin's father publicly forgave his son's killer, many were quick to criticize. Some chalk it up to "white guilt," others to the so-called "softening" of masculinity in the West — but Jason sees it as a biblical act of courage. Forgiveness is hard. It's what Jesus commands, but few actually live it out. Jason goes further — exposing how not just leftists but conservatives and Christians alike are often too emotionally compromised or politically influenced to see these stories clearly. If race is the first filter you run everything through, maybe it's become an idol in your life. Duke collapses in the second half against Houston — Cougars are Final-bound. Will Cooper Flagg stay at Duke for redemption in 2026? UConn takes home another championship in Paige Bueckers' final season. So if Geno Auriemma has quadrupled the rings of Dawn Staley, why is Staley called the greatest? Jason contrasts the NHL and the NBA: Gretzky embraces Ovechkin, while the NBA seems to constantly downplay legends in favor of hype. Why the lack of reverence? Shedeur Sanders' draft stock is in free fall, and Coach Prime isn't handling it well — he was caught on camera screaming at an NFL scout. Is Deion letting pressure crack the image? Some farmers fear the trade war from President Trump's tariffs could put them out of business. John Boyd Jr., a fourth-generation farmer in Virginia, says the price of corn, wheat and soybeans, which are controlled by the markets, have tanked. He is concerned the tariffs could be a long-term issue for American farmers. Stellantis, the company that makes Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge and Ram trucks, said it's temporarily laying off 900 workers in the Midwest as President Trump's 25% tariff on foreign cars and parts takes effect. CBS News' Lana Zak spoke to workers impacted. CBS News MoneyWatch correspondent Kelly O'Grady joins "CBS Mornings" to break down how President Trump's new tariffs are affecting the labor market and global financial markets. Jai & Nolan preview the final four on the Men's and Women's side. On the Men's side it's all chalk as it will be all four number one seeds competing for the first time since 2008. Auburn, Duke, Florida and Houston have been the best four teams in the country all year long and we discussed who we think will cut down the nets on Monday Night. On the Women's side Dawn Staley and South Carolina will get their shot at going back to back, Paige Bueckers will look to end off her career at Uconn with a Title, but two other number ones in UCLA and Texas will look to make noise as well, we previewed those matchups and picked who will take home the Women's tournament title.
On the 53rd episode of Coffee, JC Shurburtt points out that Gamecock fans should be careful about latching on to outside expectations, both positive and negative. Why? The nature of college football. It's also why the NCAA should allow football programs to get a look against other teams prior to playing games for real like every other sport on the planet. Plus, a big weekend for Lamont Paris, Dawn Staley and Gamecock Softball. Is there now hope on the baseball diamond as well? It's a packed episode on a Monday. This is the most stacked women's basketball field in recent history, so I had to bring in a special guest to help me figure out who will survive and advance! Marke Freeman has had a successful career on the court, as a coach, and now as an analyst, and she came through to use her unique perspective to help me break down each and every game! We start with a look back at the first weekend of the tournament. We discuss the major takeaways, including the devastating injury to USC star JuJu Watkins. Was it a dirty play, or was it just an unfortunate reality of basketball? And how were the Lady Trojans able to regroup and come away with the win? Then, we go down the line and make our picks for every game! Marke provides her unique insight into how the SEC was able to send an NCAA-record tying 6 teams to the Sweet 16, why you should be pulling for Paige Bueckers, and how much not getting the #1 overall seed motivated Dawn Staley and the Gamecocks. The Unrivaled 3-vs.-3 women's basketball league has officially wrapped up, and Angel Reese and her team have taken home the trophy. Reese was also awarded Defensive Player of the Year for her efforts in the league's debut season. Jason and Steve Kim discuss Reese's massive ego, especially after she took to X, posting, “What y'all gonna say now?” Spoiler alert, Angel — people are still going to say you can't finish a layup. She's not the only one making eyeroll-worthy comments. University of South Carolina women's basketball coach Dawn Staley is complaining that despite her team being a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, they weren't given the No. 1 overall seed. Almost like billionaires complaining they don't have enough money. Meanwhile, in college football, Deion Sanders is pushing Colorado to mirror an NFL scrimmage by suggesting his team practice and scrimmage against another school in the spring. Shifting gears to the latest installment of the Stephen A. Smith drama, Draymond Green has joined the fray, ripping Stephen A. for his take on LeBron confronting him courtside. Even though Draymond is clearly a LeBron groupie, does he have a point about Stephen A. acting tough after the fact? Wrapping up today's show, Kendrick Perkins makes a bold statement, crowning Steph Curry as the greatest point guard of all time. “I'm never out here trying to prove to others who I am. I'm out here proving to myself that I'm exactly who I said I am.” Natasha Cloud WNBA Champion Pivot Family, We have had a lot of great conversations but this one is up there as one of our favorites because it's so personal, covering so many life aspects we don't talk about often and truly reveals the inner character of a remarkable woman who stands on strength and is fueled by passion and purpose. Ryan, Fred and Channing sit with former WNBA champion and Connecticut Sun point guard Natasha Cloud. Cloud, joins the guys for an emotional and powerful conversation about her journey through basketball, identity, social justice advocacy, and the fight for equality in women's sports. Through her battle scars and experiences, we get to know the real side of this strong woman who found her voice at a young age and has never hid from who she is to use it. Growing up biracial, in a predominantly white household and community, Cloud reflects on feeling like she existed in a “gray area”…never feeling fully white, never feeling fully black and how that shaped her outlook. Shedding some tears, she shares how much her parents mean to her and how they embraced her wholeheartedly even though it wasn't always easy times. Cloud opens up about her self discovery to understanding her Blackness, the difficult conversations that came with it, and how her white parents made a constant effort to support her experience as a Black woman. Energized and excited about the success and competition of playing in the Unrivaled league- Cloud is now gearing up for their next battle as she is at the forefront of the WNBA's fight for better pay, benefits, and respect. She speaks passionately about the upcoming Collective Bargaining Agreement, the need for pensions, and the growing investment in women's basketball. She also discusses this past WNBA season with the increased viewership and doesn't shy away from speaking on aggressive play being criticized as something other than basketball. Candid about her personal relationship with fellow WNBA player Isabelle Harrison, Cloud takes us through the challenges of being a Black gay woman, and how she struggled to reconcile her faith with her identity while balancing societal pressures and criticism. By overcoming constant battles, Cloud finds strength in embracing who she is through thick and thin and never lets what others think be of influence. The guys talk about Cloud skipping the 2020 WNBA season to focus on social justice, the burden of constantly speaking out on important issues, and how she's learned the importance of self-care, acknowledging that while she wants to fight for change, she also understands that she can't pour from an empty cup. This episode is about courage, resilience, and standing firm in who you are. Natasha Cloud's story is a beautiful one of pride, courage, love, family and proof that playing basketball is bigger than sports. Finding purpose in using her platform for change, she's a proven leader, and willing to stand on the shoulders of those who came before her to leave the game and world better for future generations of young women. South Carolina safety Nick Emmanwori was the story of the NFL Scouting Combine over the weekend and very likely will be the latest Gamecocks defensive back drafted in the first round in April's NFL Draft. The 6-foot-3, 228-pound freak athlete, who also is a versatile, standout football player (not just a good tester), will be hard to replace. But JC Shurburtt points out that Gamecocks defensive backs coach Torrian Gray has coached players like Emmanwori before and if you look at the Classes of 2025 and 2026 you will find a lot of players with similar builds and upside. Also, a review of an eventful weekend as Lamont Paris continues to own John Calipari, Dawn Staley and her team win another SEC Championship and a significant coin flip, Jeremiah Donati will be making his first hire and softball sweeps top 10 Duke on the road.
