he Saints are finally getting ready for actual football games! Mario Jerez and Erin Summers break down everything that stood out from the Saints' joint practice with the Jacksonville Jaguars, including a strong day for Tyler Shough, Chris Olave looking like an All-Pro, and an offensive line that consistently created movement against one of the NFL's best run defenses from a year ago. The defense had plenty of highlights as well, with Julion Blackmon picking off Trevor Lawrence early, Jonas Sanker, Quincy Riley and Kool-Aid McKinstry making plays in coverage, and Chase Young repeatedly finding his way into the Jacksonville backfield. But the biggest concern coming out of practice was Jordyn Tyson, who left early with a trainer and did not return. The initial indication is that Tyson suffered a hamstring injury, and Mario and Erin discuss what we know — and what the Saints need to find out — before the preseason opener. Then it's time to look ahead to Saints vs. Jaguars! With the preseason finally here, Mario and Erin discuss the individual players they're watching most, including Barion Brown, Bub Means, Bryce Lance, Jonas Sanker, Lorenzo Styles and Jayden Price. Will a diamond in the rough emerge this preseason? Can one of the young receivers separate himself from the pack? And which players could make a major impression as the Saints' roster competition heats up? Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Big Q breaks down the Saints' closed indoor practice from August 6, 2026, including Spencer Rattler's 46-yard walk-off touchdown pass to Brown in the two-minute drill. Brown ran away from Isaac Yiadom and continued building his case as the breakout star of camp. The first-team offense moved the ball well in its own two-minute situation, starting at the 35-yard line with 1:40 remaining, one timeout and a four-point deficit. Tyler Shough connected with Juwan Johnson, Travis Etienne Jr., Chris Olave and Brown, but the drive ended with a sack and a Quincy Riley interception on the final end-zone heave. Big Q also covers: • Kool-Aid McKinstry's spectacular tip-to-himself interception • Bub Means continuing to make plays • Kaden Elliss creating pressure around the football • Strong performances from Devin Neal, Audric Estime and Ty Chandler • Updates on Alvin Kamara, Kendre Miller, Jeremiah Wright, Christen Miller, Ronnie Bell, Devin Neal and Chris Rumph II • Charlie Smyth's rough kicking period and the opening it creates for Tanner Brown What was your biggest Saints Camp Day 7 takeaway? Is Barion Brown already forcing his way onto the 53-man roster? Let us know below. Will local product Donovan McMillon fulfill his NFL dreams? And what does this year's draft so about the overall state of Pat Narduzzi's program? Our duo answers those questions and more.

Steve and Jeff hear from rookie pass catcher from Pitt, Bub Means, in his rookie campaign, how big this game is for both teams, and his faith in Spencer Rattler, but at the end of the day, the Saints run game has been silent since the Cowboys game, so how can they get the ball rolling again with this Saints running core with Kendre Miller's return, and the Saints are dancing on the edge, so what could we see from them?
Steve and Jeff wanna see the Saints wake up and remember how to play football and now would be as good a time as any to start tackling again, stopping QBs from scrambling, before hearing from the rookies in QB Spencer Rattler and Bub Means, on the connection and trust they have in one another, and what they are looking to do against a very good Denver defense, before closing things out discussing how the Saints run game will need to step up and carry some of the weight from this rookie receiving core, as the Saints are dancing on the cliff of becoming a bottom tier team, so what can they do to fight back?

Has there ever been this much debate on who should be a backup quarterback? The question of Spencer Rattler or Jake Haener – if nothing else – has breathed interest into an otherwise uneventful preseason. But now the regular season is upon us, and decisions must be made for these New Orleans Saints, including with cut-down day on Tuesday. Along with QB2, there's the question of which wide receivers will make the team: AT Perry, rookie Bub Means and veteran Equanimeous St. Brown or two of the three? Also, have the Saints backed themselves into a corner to where they MUST start Trevor Penning? As he does each “Mano E Monday”, host Jim Derry talks to and with the audience, and we hear clips from Coach Dennis Allen, Rattler, Haener and Samson Nacua on his incredible near-109-yard field-goal return against the Titans in the preseason finale. It all comes on the Dattitude Podcast (Ep. 270) presented by Evangeline Securities, which includes “Mondays with Gabe Henderson” and the “Extra Point,” which talks a little Tulane and LSU football.

From Kool-Aid, to Bub Means, to Rattler they made a strong showing. Bringing in offensive tackle Taliese Fuaga as the No. 14 overall pick will help anchor their line while Kool-Aid McKinstry should help shore up that defensive backfield.Podcast Timecodes0:00 Intro4:30 2023 New Orleans Saints Recap9:00 Offseason Roster Moves14:12 Chris Farley Joins the Show22:35 New Orleans Saints 2024 Odds23:05 New Orleans Saints Schedule Breakdown43:15 New Orleans Saints Best Bets JOIN the SGPN community #DegensOnlyExclusive Merch, Contests and Bonus Episodes ONLY on Patreon - https://sg.pn/patreonDiscuss with fellow degens on Discord - https://sg.pn/discordDownload The Free SGPN App - https://sgpn.appCheck out the Sports Gambling Podcast on YouTube - https://sg.pn/YouTubeCheck out our website - http://sportsgamblingpodcast.comSUPPORT us by supporting our partnersUnderdog Fantasy code SGPN - Up to $250 in BONUS CASH - https://play.underdogfantasy.com/p-sgpnCirca Sports - 16 MILLION in guaranteed prizes w/ Circa Survivor & Circa Millions - https://www.circasports.com/circa-sports-millionFootball Contest Proxy - Use promo code SGP to save $50 at - http://proxy.footballcontest.comRithmm - Player Props and Picks - Free 7 day trial! http://sportsgamblingpodcast.com/rithmmGametime code SGPN - Download the Gametime app, create an account, and use code SGPN for $20 off your first purchase - https://gametime.co/OddsJam - 7-day free trial and 35% off your first month subscription promo code SGPN - https://fas.st/t/yaJkJgH132 NFL Team Previews - https://www.sportsgamblingpodcast.com/2024-nfl-team-previews/ ADVERTISE with SGPNInterested in advertising? Mike, Steve, and Charlie played their daily "Triple Option" segment. Steve gave an injury update on Saints rookie WR Bub Means. Charlie shared stats about the 2024 MLB Draft. Mike projected a strong season for LSU baseball in 2025.
Mike and Bobby shared their observations from the first day of Saints OTAs. Bobby projected Taysom Hill's role in new OC Klint Kubiak's offensive scheme. The guys evaluated the performance of the Saints' QBs, highlighting Jake Haener and Spencer Rattler. Bobby praised Haener's accuracy when comparing the two young quarterbacks. They also talked about Bub Means, Chris Olave, and Derek Carr. Bobby and Mike responded to questions from WWL listeners about the Saints.
New Orleans Saints fifth-round NFL Draft selection Bub Means may not have the most immediate path to a roster spot like Taliese Fuaga. However, he has several pathways to get there. The former Pittsburgh WR made the most out of a bad situation his last two season of college football and now he looks to prove he can partner with Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed and A.T. Perry to keep the Saints young core of talents wide receivers moving up.How new wide receivers coach Keith Williams will have a big impact on Bub Means and his game. The scouting report on Means is overall positive, but nuance and sustainability/consistency will be his proving ground.JOIN SUBTEXT: https://joinsubtext.com/lockedonsaints Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…
While Spencer Rattler didn't feel like the right quarterback for the New Orleans Saints in the 2024 NFL Draft, the selection of a late passer is incredibly smart. The South Carolina passer has a ton of qualities the Saints clearly like including his ability to get through progressions, manage adversity, keep a calm head and use his athleticism to make plays. Entering New Orleans behind Derek Carr, Rattler has a chance to develop into a future option at quarterback for the Saints.Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft for the Saints was all about development and special teams impact. Bub Means, Jaylan Ford, Khristian Boyd and Josiah Ezirim along with Spencer Rattler project as high-character young players with high ceilings. The undrafted free agency class has a handful of players, headlined by Dallin Holker, that have a legit shot at making the roster.
