What's in a logo? A lot. Especially for a league and its brand. Good thing the NBA didn't try to make "Showdown '82" a permanent "thing." Nick Saban and others testify on Capitol Hill to "save" college sports. Which sports, tho? And would an NCAA football and basketball "super league" really be so bad? How come ESPN is selling off big chunks of its CFB inventory? Chicago Mayor, ALE theory fan. Sports teams are throwing away perfectly good stadiums after 20 years. Blame the Braves. A true "Happy Gilmore" situation at a USGA qualifier. Fifty years of the Memorial Tournament sounds like a sports anniversary, but the real story is what happens when a golf event is built to serve communities.  Lindsay and Bruce are joined by the greatest to ever pick up a golf club — Jack Nicklaus.  They talk about how Muirfield Village and the Memorial helped put Dublin, Ohio on the map, why the City relationship has lasted for decades, and what “give first” truly looks like.Jack also shares the most personal reason behind the tournament's charitable legacy: a frightening moment when his daughter Nan was a baby and Nationwide Children's Hospital saved her life. That experience shaped a lifelong commitment to children's health, from the Memorial's fundraising impact in central Ohio to the growth of Nicklaus Children's Hospital and clinics across South Florida. Then, Bruce and Lindsay lighten it up with rapid fire: Jack's walk-up song, the pressure putt that taught him to believe in himself, favorite milkshake flavor, and a behind the scenes Happy Gilmore cameo with an ad lib that made the final cut. From golf history to philanthropy and leadership, this conversation delivers with Jack's signature wisdom, wit and vision for a better world. The Nostalgia Test Podcast

Dan & Billy invite Nostalgia Test Podcast all-star Meghan Nolan to put the 1988 Nicolas Cage black “comedy” Vampire's Kiss to the ultimate test—THE NOSTALGIA TEST! “This is a steaming pile of sh*t. I hate everything about it. It is not nostalgic for me. You cannot be nostalgic, I'm gonna say it again, about a movie that's about him raping somebody [...] It's not a comedy. It's a film that doesn't even know what it is. It doesn't make me nostalgic about the 80s. It doesn't make me nostalgic about bats. It doesn't make me nostalgic about anything. This is a hard fail. I never wanna see this film again. I'm sad that I watched it.” -Meghan Nolan There's not really much else to say. Dan & Billy's guest, Meghan, sums it up pretty well. This “movie” (if you can call it a movie) is an abysmal piece of chaos that should've tanked Nicolas Cage's career, but because of his status as a Coppola in Hollywood he was absolutely fine and was able to continue to run amok forever. In fact, one of the main points in this episode is how it took almost 16 years for Jennifer Beals' career to recover from Vampire's Kiss. Sure, she was in the Denzel Washington movie Devil in a Blue Dress in 1995, but her comeback wasn't until her role in The L-Word in 2004. Yet, Cage was in a string of insane failures and chaotic bullsh*t since 1988, and he continues to have this momentous acting career, even after 1997's Con Air. Another movie that should've killed his career. But I digress. This episode has everything a classic Nostalgia Test episode has, tangents, regrets, jokes, and all the insane laughter about Nic Cages need to have warm yoghurt poured on his toes so her can be “aroused” in a sex scene with Jennifer Beals. Again, this man was allowed to have a career after this! Also, justice for Alva, the poor secretary played by María Conchita Alonso who has to endure being verbally, emotionally, physically, and sexually abused by Peter Loew (Nic Cage) in this abomination of a film. So, grab your fake plastic vampire teeth, reschedule your appointment with your inappropriate therapist, and brace yourself for one of the most insane breakdowns for a movie so bad that the podcast consensus is they'd rather watch Happy Gilmore 2. What on earth were Ring and Amazon thinking when they aired their Super Bowl advert that previewed a “there's nowhere you can hide” type of dystopian future masked as a way to find your lost dog? With cameras everywhere, are we safer or just more exposed? When camera data is deleted, is it really gone (spoiler alert: not necessarily), and more. Are we approaching the new location of the “creepy line” or as a society are we content to trade privacy for security? And what happens when the glasses with cameras become more pervasive? Are we all on cam all the time whether we like it or not?Show notes:Ring Super Bowl Advert - https://www.nytimes.com/2026/02/19/business/ring-super-bowl-ad-privacy.html Decoder Podcast - Let's talk about Ring, lost dogs, and the surveillance state - https://youtu.be/QQjW68B7s8gRing and Flock cancel partnership - https://techcrunch.com/2026/02/13/amazons-ring-cancels-partnership-with-flock-a-network-of-ai-cameras-used-by-ice-feds-and-police/Savanna Guthrie Nest Video Retrieval - https://www.theverge.com/tech/877235/nancy-guthrie-google-nest-cam-video-storageApple San Bernardino Matter - https://epic.org/documents/apple-v-fbi-2/DJI robot vacuum cameras accessible via Internet - https://www.theverge.com/tech/879088/dji-romo-hack-vulnerability-remote-control-camera-access-mqttUnifi protect cameras - https://geni.us/isNyY2Zuck in court to testify on social media addiction - https://apnews.com/article/mark-zuckerberg-trial-testimony-instagram-c8cbaa32ccbf4933ec3a7beebd6cf34b Glassholes are back - and forbidden in court - https://www.cbsnews.com/news/meta-trial-mark-zuckerberg-ai-glasses/Movie recommendation - Happy Gilmore - https://geni.us/v96XEgbMeta/Facebook studies on addictiveness of social media - https://www.cnn.com/2026/02/23/tech/facebook-researchers-study-addictive-featuresLinkedIn/Microsoft Verification data being shared with many others, including Persona -= https://thelocalstack.eu/posts/linkedin-identity-verification-privacy/Some of the links in the show notes contain affiliate links that may earn a commission should you choose to make a purchase using these links. Eric, producer of the Travis Makes Money podcast, joins Travis in studio to break down how creator-led films are disrupting Hollywood's old guard. He shares firsthand impressions from seeing YouTuber Markiplier's horror film Iron Lung, highlighting why this low-budget, creator-driven project is such a big win for filmmakers, investors, and content creators looking to turn attention into real revenue. Eric's enthusiasm and eye for story, audience behavior, and distribution make this conversation a must-listen for anyone serious about monetizing content at scale. On this episode we talk about: Why Iron Lung is “crazy good news” for the film industry and creators How Markiplier produced, wrote, starred in, and directed a profitable sub-$3M horror film The power of built-in distribution and preselling tickets through a loyal YouTube audience Why horror and action are often the smartest low-budget genres for indie filmmakers How creator–Hollywood crossovers (like Iron Lung and Happy Gilmore 2) are reshaping funding, casting, and IP strategy Top 3 Takeaways Creator-led projects with a passionate audience and clear distribution can outperform traditional studio films, even with a fraction of the budget. Horror and action films are often cheaper to make yet have broad appeal, making them ideal vehicles for indie and creator-driven projects. It's no longer “YouTuber vs. actor”—creators who build real IP and care about the underlying story can unlock new paths into film, funding, and long-term opportunities. Notable Quotes “You have a film project that 4Xes on opening weekend—you have to start taking a look at that.” “What Hollywood is missing right now is what creators have, which is attention—unbridled attention.” “Get started doing something, because you never know what it's going to end up being.” Connect with Travis: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/travischappell/ Other: travischappell.com Travis Makes Money is made possible by High Level – the All-In-One Sales & Marketing Platform built for agencies, by an agency. AT&T Preview | Brandel vs. Phil | Bad Bunny Maye Superbowl | Vonn Crash | Jordan Hudson Spa ShirtIn this episode, we chat about the Super Bowl, discussing the halftime show, betting wins, and the cultural impact of music and sports. Bad Bunny was very controversial going into the game. Did he deliver the goods. Cal chats through his favorite half-time show performances. Drake Maye had a horrible post season this year. Could he be hurt? How do we think the Patriots will do in 2026-27? Patrick Reed has been on fire on the DP World Tour. He is an easy early lean for the Masters. Lindsey Vonn thought she was going to have a Tiger at Torrey moment in the winter games with a torn ACL, but had a terrible crash on Sunday. It appears that Travis Kelce is trying to be the next golf celebrity Pro-Am lock. He had a birdie on 16 at the WM Pro-AM last week and did the Happy Gilmore bull dance around the green. Did Bad Bunny have an impact on the NFL and music. Apparently Taylor Swift is recording her entire catalogue in spanish to spark growth under her new name Evil Rabbit. Bill Belechick's girlfriend Jordan Hudson sparked controversy this weekend with her Orchids of Asia tshirt she was sporting at a Superbowl party in support of the coach. The dig at Robert Kraft was apparently due to the hall of fame snub last week. On the show they explore the significance of cocktail garnishes, the dynamics of NFL injuries, and the traditions of Super Bowl parties. The conversation shifts to rap music's influence, highlights from golf tournaments, and the upcoming AT&T Pro-Am, while also touching on celebrity appearances and their effects on sports events. In this engaging conversation, Cal and Dan delve into the world of golf betting, analyzing player performances, odds, and strategies for upcoming tournaments. They share humorous anecdotes, discuss pop culture references, and recommend comedy specials, creating a lively and entertaining dialogue that blends sports insights with light-hearted banter.Chapters00:00Super Bowl Reflections03:00Cocktail Garnishes and Game Changers05:57Bad Bunny's Halftime Show09:05Cultural Impact and Music Trends12:02Super Bowl Party Experiences14:57Diversity in Music and Entertainment17:55Golf and Betting Insights20:58The Waste Management Tournament26:56Golf Predictions and Commentary30:04Brandel Chamblee and the Players Championship36:05Celebrity Influence in Golf39:59Betting Insights and Predictions50:57Fun Segments and Personal Stories54:54Diverse Business Ventures57:01Family and Legacy in Business01:00:02Golf Insights and Predictions01:02:58Entertainment and Media Discussions01:08:01Comedy Specials and RecommendationsApparel for the show provided by turtleson. Did Rick Owens really design leather jackets for Ghost of Mars? Is Timothee Chalamet running the exact same PR playbook as Jack Harlow? What the hell is Goouch, and can a goose be a Muppet?Sol and Michael are back! They sit down to break down Rick Owens' early Hollywood costume design work (Ghost of Mars, Tank Girl, Otto; or Up with Dead People), the sock-heel technique that created the iconic pagoda shoulders, and Bailey Goldberg's knitwear producers. The pair then dives into the Timothee Chalamet Marty Supreme PR playbook—from Druski collabs and Chrome Hearts red carpet fits to basketball clout and cultural co-opting—and asks why Hollywood can't let a good actor just act. Finally, a full-blown rant about Front General Store's refusal to stock size Large, a $800 "Viet Cong Hunting Club" military liner, and the ethics of selling Vietnam-era militaria in 2025.They also cover: Lower East Side store tours (Self Edge, Desert Vintage, Commune, Copy, Brute Archives), why Orchard Street is still the fashion capital of New York, Japanese 90s rave culture photography books, the Fear of God represent era fashion time capsule, fake Chrome Hearts dunks, fake Geos flooding the market, Supreme box logo nostalgia, ins and outs list criticism, late 90s and early 2000s horror movie promo tees (House of 1000 Corpses, Flatliners, The Faculty, Planet Terror), why Good Art should make Birkenstock buckles, a heated Muppets debate (what qualifies as a Muppet?), Nine Inch Snails lore, Nicholas Cage movie quotes, Absolute Batman and Doomsday Clock, Happy Gilmore 2 and the nostalgia sequel problem, joggers vs boot cuts, long line tees vs cropped silhouettes, and much more.Big Announcement: The Pair of Kings Podcast turns 6 years old! Andy and Brendan's Christmas wish for a "Home Alone" episode to finish out 2025 has come true! The Boys take over the feed for this final look back at the year in professional golf as Joseph and PJ recap the 3M Open and Wyndham Championship. Before getting to what was perhaps the most important tournament of the season, The Boys first discuss TGL's Season 2 debut on Sunday. Billy Horschel took down NYGC again, continuing to be the bane of the entire city's existence according to the broadcast. Billy was joined by Chris Gotterup and Corey Conners on the Atlanta Drive as last-minute replacement players for the suddenly-injured Patrick Cantlay and Lucas Glover. Despite only having one (1) of the team's four (4) players active, Atlanta still managed to clean up against Cameron Young, Matt Fitzpatrick, and Xander Schauffele. Joseph and PJ discuss some standout new holes designed by Augie Pizá and share some excitement for this Friday's Ballfrogs match. There's also been a bit of major golf news since we've been away - Talor Gooch is now the captain of Smash GC! Joseph reads from a new LIV article detailing Gooch's approach to his newfound captaincy and the fallout from Brooks Koepka leaving the league with one year remaining on his contract. The Boys try to game out where this leaves Brooks to play in 2026 and PJ wonders if an easy route back to the PGA Tour for Koepka is coming soon. Bryson DeChambeau is also posturing for a new contract, telling Flushing It that some things need to change for the now-72 hole tour in 2026. After cleaning up the LIV hot stove, The Boys resume the Year in Review with a brief stop at TPC Sod Farms for the 3M Open. Scottie, Bryson, and many more golf stars were in attendance at the "Happy Gilmore 2" premiere this week, but no star shined as bright as Kurt Kityama at an Arnold Palmer design. The Kitty Kat held off challengers like Matt Wallace and Jake Knapp to secure his second PGA Tour win, setting the stage for the 1,000th unique winner in Tour history at the Wyndham. The majority of this episode is, naturally, spent remembering a superstar's win at an iconic Donald Ross venue in North Carolina. Cameron Young ran away with the tournament, beating Mac Meissner by six shots to finally win his first PGA Tour event. Joseph and PJ share the best highlights from the crowning of Mr. 1,000, properly giving this American Ryder Cup hero his flowers despite the best efforts of Andy and Brendan to prevent this from happening. The Boys end the show with a new segment called "Receipts Corner," calling out some who believed this day - or Cameron Young's ensuing end-of-season success - would never come. Andy and Brendan will return in 2026 for another year of covering the amusing, inane, and irreverent moments from professional golf.

Andy and Brendan! once again went LIVE on YouTube for one of the best days of the year: the annual golf Halloween costumes episode. Before diving into some ideas celebrating the best in golf for 2025, the two quickly run through the Schedule for the Week containing just two events for the final week in October. They then move to some recent news, highlighting Kai Trump's LPGA sponsor exemption into The Annika in November. Andy and Brendan call out the continued use of sponsor exemptions on all tours and note that this could not be a an actual competitive exemption. Elsewhere on the LPGA, the Grant Thornton Invitational teams are out, pairing FSU studs Lottie Woad and Luke Clanton, Canadians Brooke Henderson and Corey Conners, and more. For the last bit of news, it was announced that the Old Course will be adding new tees in an effort to make the course longer for the 155th Open. This opens the floodgates for a discussion about the distance problem in golf with Brendan calling this a "five-alarm fire" that should not be celebrated by media and fans alike. PJ is tapped to explain the 2026 Champions Tour schedule that may - or may not - have Tiger Woods in its plans before Andy forces him to rank his top five Halloween candies. The three then present their golf-adjacent Halloween costume ideas, covering subjects like Lucas "King of Takes" Glover, Happy Gilmore*, the Crentist, Keegan Bradley's suitcase, and much, much more. Listener submissions will be read and judged on Friday's episode for a gift card to the Fried Egg Golf Pro Shop.
