Central Station - Stories from Outback Australian Cattle Stations
Traveling vast distances to access services is second nature for Raine Holcombe – it's part and parcel with living in the Northern Territory. Raised on a crocodile farm in the Victoria River district, Raine developed a love for life on the land which eventually saw her running a contracting business with that took her and her husband to cattle stations across the territory. They spent years living out of a portable set-up, with no fixed address, and trips to town were not only few and far between, but often half a day's drive away. So, when Raine and her husband Potter found themselves struggling to conceive their first child, the idea of traveling to Darwin for medical assistance wasn't ideal, but also not incomprehensible. Little did the pair know that they would end up traveling across Australia in search of answers about their infertility. In this episode, Raine speaks candidly about her experience with infertility, and how it took years of persistence, tens of thousands of kilometres, and backing herself each step of the way, to finally get the answers she needed. **We actually recorded this episode sitting in the back of Raine's horse truck while she was at a campdraft, so you will be hearing some very authentic background noises from time to time during this recording.**Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/central-station.
