Don Morse with Autism Anglers, my next guest, is calling from Orlando. Don has been employed in the outdoor industry since 1994. Don didn't know what autism was until he found out that his child, Landon, had it. Don's friends and relatives were very receptive to hearing it. He knew that fishing may be a very effective therapy for persons of various abilities. Don established his charity, Autism Anglers, in 2018, intending to increase awareness and foster understanding on a larger scale. Since then, more donors have joined, giving additional equipment to fishermen with autism in North America. Autism Anglers also plans to expand its offerings to include charter and guided fishing trips. Let's welcome Mr. Morse to Autism Rocks And Rolls. https://autismanglers.org/

Another Paternity Leave Installment is here, and this time, Josh decided that we should drop one on an episode we DID NOT LIKE. As mentioned over the past few weeks, this is content that's been behind the Patreon paywall for a while. Patreon payments are frozen for the time being. New Munchies can't join as paying members until that's unpaused, but you can join as a free member and at least be kept abreast of pod news...What happens when a new showrunner takes over Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and doesn't understand the characters at all? Or how SVU tells stories? Well, the Randomizer selected “Gone Fishin'” (Season 19, Episode 1), so the Munchie Boys found out the hard way. Fin kidnaps a perp who absconded to Cuba? Dean Winters and Peter Jacobson coexist in an episode where Jacobson isn't Bart Ganzel, Cassidy's pimp employer from the Cragen-waking-up-with-a-corpse-in-his-bed three-part saga, challenging the strength of the space-time continuum? How ridiculous can a soundstage set that's supposed to pass for Cuba get? The answers to these and so many other befuddling questions lie within the confines of this installment of Munch My Benson.Music:Divorcio Suave - “Munchy Business”Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Amy Z, Nikki B, Diana R, Tony B, Zak B, Barry W, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Christine L, Amy A, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Asteria K, Suzanne B, Tim Y, Douglas P, John P, John W, Elia S, Rebecca B, Kevin, Lily, Lucy, Sarah L, Melsa A, Alyssa C, Johnathon M, Tiffany C, Brian B, Kate K, Alison M, Whitney C, Alex, and Kaytlyn B - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too! In this episode of The Video Store Podcast, I am recommending into a mix popular and lesser-known Joe Pesci comedies from the '90s. If you're in the mood for a good laugh, these are films you might want to rent. The Super (1991): This film stars Joe Pesci as Louie Kritski, a slumlord who gets sentenced to live in one of his own run-down buildings until he fixes it up. Pesci's performance brings humor to a story about class and redemption. This movie might not be as well-known as others from the era, but it's worth a look, especially for fans of Pesci. You might not know this, but the film was directed by Rod Daniel, who also directed Teen Wolf (1985).My Cousin Vinny (1992): In this award-winning classic, Pesci plays Vinny Gambini, a brash, inexperienced lawyer who has no courtroom experience, defending his cousin and a friend accused of murder. Marisa Tomei won an Oscar for her role as Vinny's fiancée, Mona Lisa Vito, and it is well-deserved. The chemistry between Pesci and Tomei works well, and the film's humor holds up well, even decades later.8 Heads in a Duffel Bag (1997): This dark comedy has a pretty bizarre premise: a hitman, played by Pesci, accidentally loses a bag containing eight heads. The film balances slapstick humor with dark comedy. While it didn't make a huge splash when it first came out, it's gained a bit of a cult following over the years. The film also features early performances from David Spade and Kristy Swanson.Gone Fishin' (1997): Rounding out this week's recommendations has Pesci alongside Danny Glover. These two stars play best friends whose fishing trip goes hilariously off the rails. It's a lighthearted buddy comedy that doesn't take itself too seriously. The movie was directed by Christopher Cain, who also directed Young Guns (1988). It might not have been a critical success, but it's a fun, easy watch if you're in the mood for something light. That wraps up this week's picks. Whether you're in the mood for slapstick comedy, a courtroom classic, or a buddy adventure, Joe Pesci's comedic range in these films is sure to bring some laughs. So next time you're browsing for something to watch, give one of these a try—you might just find a new favorite.Subscribe to the Video Store Podcast* The Video Store Podcast* Apple Podcast* RSS This is a public episode. This week we're discussing every album by Flipper. While known to many as a huge influence to bands like Nirvana and the Melvins, Flipper are a punk band unlike any other. They're as amazing as they are terrible, but completely unique and bizarrely innovative. After founding member and bassist/vocalist Will Shatter died in 1987, they've gone through various breakups and reunions, even as far as recruiting Nirvana's Krist Novoselic and the Jesus Lizard's David Yow. These days they tour with the legendary Mike Watt.Closing track: "Hard Cold World" from Public Flipper Limited (1986)Patreonhttps://www.patreon.com/everyalbumeverMerchhttps://pandermonkey.creator-spring.com/Mike's EP:Pander Monkey on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple,Instagram:Mike @pandermonkeyAlex @everyalbumalexRobert @hoodpass.wicTom @tomosmansoundsHistory Tom's stuff:Music on Spotify, ApplePodcast on Spotify, YouTubeSubstackWebsiteRobert's show on NTS Radio: https://www.nts.live/shows/yayayi Robert's album: https://open.spotify.com/artist/6y9HtgqNCUTgnemSjTdpO4?autoplay=trueMike's Picks:Sex Bomb Baby (1988) -- Best AlbumAlbum - Generic Flipper (1982) -- Personal FavoriteAmerican Grafishy (1993) -- Worst Album, Least FavoriteAlex's Picks:Album - Generic Flipper (1982) -- Best AlbumGone Fishin' (1984) -- Personal FavoritePublic Flipper Limited (1986) -- Worst Album, Least FavoriteRobert's Picks:Album - Generic Flipper (1982) -- Best AlbumSex Bomb Baby (1988) -- Personal FavoriteAmerican Grafishy (1993) -- Worst Album, Least FavoriteAlbums we discussed this episode...Album - Generic Flipper (1982)Blow'n Chunks (1984)Gone Fishin' (1984)Public Flipper Limited (1986)Sex Bomb Baby (1988)American Grafishy (1993)Love (2009)

MDJ Script/ Top Stories for July 9th Publish Date: July 9th Commercial: From the Ingles Studio, Welcome to the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast. Today is Tuesday, July 9th and Happy 68th Birthday to actor Tom Hanks. ***07.09.24 – BIRTHDAY – TOM HANKS*** I'm Dan Radcliffe and here are the stories Cobb is talking about, presented by Credit Union of Georgia. The Annual Sheriff's Low Country Boil Returns for 33rd Year Cobb to Decide Future of Two Canton Road Spas Cobb Schools Talks Property Taxes All of this and more is coming up on the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen and subscribe! BREAK: CU of GA STORY 1: Let's Get Boilin': Annual Sheriff's Low Country Boil Returns for 33rd Year The 33rd Annual Cobb County Sheriff's Low Country Shrimp Boilin' in Marietta brought together residents, officials, and community leaders for an evening of food and camaraderie. Started by Sheriff Bill Hutson decades ago as a corn boil, it has evolved under Sheriff Craig Owens into a shrimp boil with a diverse menu including barbecue, seafood, and more. About 1,000 attendees enjoyed the event, highlighting bipartisan support and fostering community engagement. The gathering featured live entertainment, family activities, and served as a platform for Sheriff Owens to connect with constituents ahead of his re-election campaign. STORY 2: Cobb to Decide Future of Two Canton Road Spas The Cobb Board of Commissioners is set to decide on the fate of Asian Wellness Massage and V Massage in Marietta, with hearings scheduled to determine whether to deny their health spa licenses. Both businesses allegedly violated codes, including employing unlicensed staff and lacking required permits. Owners Lingxia Zhang and Juan Xu appealed previous denials but were rejected by the License Review Board. If the denials are upheld, operations must cease immediately. Stunning Health opted not to appeal after receiving a suspension for similar violations. These decisions follow a county-wide pause on issuing health spa licenses amid concerns ranging from code violations to allegations of illegal activity like human trafficking. STORY 3: Cobb Schools Talks Property Taxes. Here's the Latest. The Cobb County Board of Education is convening a special-called meeting to discuss the tax digest and fund balance ahead of their upcoming vote on the millage rate. Chief Financial Officer Brad Johnson will present alongside Superintendent Chris Ragsdale, focusing on the district's financial outlook. The board aims to assess cash flow and the impact of property value increases on tax collections before finalizing decisions. They tentatively set an 18.7 millage rate, unchanged from last year, but rising property values could lead to higher tax revenues unless the rate is adjusted. Public hearings on the millage rate are scheduled for July 11 and July 18, with the board vote set for July 18 at their Marietta headquarters. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.799.6810 for more info. We'll be right back Break: DRAKE STORY 4: Marietta Man Dead After Fourth of July Crash 59-year-old Carl Scealf Jr. of Marietta tragically passed away following a medical event that caused him to cross into oncoming traffic on Powder Springs Road near Smitha Middle School. His vehicle collided with another driven by 30-year-old Amber Singleton of Powder Springs. Scealf was pronounced dead at Wellstar Cobb Hospital, while Singleton sustained serious injuries and was taken to Kennestone Hospital. Cobb Police are requesting information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident and can be reached at 770-499-3987. STORY 5: New Eatery Brings ‘Italian Authenticity with American Convenience' to Kennesaw Pochino Italy, a new fast-casual restaurant near Kennesaw State University, was founded by Jennifer Erdman and Sam Lundy, along with Italian partners Andrea Casarin and Giuseppe Barbera. It offers customizable pasta bowls, Roman-style pinsas, and traditional Italian desserts. The menu aims to blend authentic Italian flavors with American preferences, adapting to local tastes while maintaining authenticity. Feedback-driven adjustments have already been made, such as adding protein options to pasta dishes. Located strategically near KSU, Pochino plans to expand locally and potentially franchise, with a focus on refining operations and establishing community partnerships, including with the university's athletic department. We'll be back in a moment. Break: INGLES 4 STORY 6: Gone Fishin': Cobb Fishing Rodeo Kicks Off at Hyde Farm Park The Cobb Parks Fishing Rodeo at Hyde Farm Park in East Cobb attracted young anglers aged 3 to 16 for a morning of fishing competitions. Organized by Cobb County Parks and Recreation, the event aimed to introduce children to fishing and promote environmental stewardship. Participants enjoyed activities like a fish-shaped cornhole game and popsicles while fishing for bream and catfish in the stocked pond. Experienced fishermen, including 80-year-old Tony Cobb, offered tips and camaraderie. Winners included Beppe Rude and his friend Luke Nunan, who caught a 22-inch catfish, demonstrating their strategy with an octopus circle hook in deep, shaded water. Each participant received a giveaway bag, and the event continues with three more competitions at different parks throughout July. STORY 7: Engineers rate Georgia “C+” in infrastructure Georgia's infrastructure earned a "C+" grade in a recent report from the American Society of Civil Engineers, indicating moderate overall condition. The state's highest marks were in ports and energy infrastructure, receiving "B+" grades. Bridges, freight rail, and schools followed with "B" grades. However, transit was rated lowest with a "D", reflecting historical underinvestment. Aviation received praise for improvement, particularly in rural areas benefiting from enhanced airport facilities. Despite achievements, challenges remain, highlighted by a "C+" grade for drinking water systems, underscored by recent emergencies in Atlanta due to water main breaks. Engineers stress the need for increased funding to meet growing demands amid population growth. A few weeks ago my friend Nate took me out fishing for the first time on his dinghy. While it wasn't as erotic as it might sound I had a blast nonetheless. I caught my first fish and he caught about ten or twelve. We talked during the whole thing embracing the quiet morning, spotting our friend and podcast alumni Palmdale, discussed Nate's future plans for therapeutic fishing lessons for veterans with post-traumatic stress, humble beginnings catching sticks, and a fair amount of stigmatized subjects to ponder.

Happy days are in Beantown again as the Boston Celtics have won the 2024 NBA Championship after beating the Dallas Mavericks in five games in the NBA Finals. But surprisingly, there is a lot more to talk about than that in NBA-land, and Adam Murray and Andrew Riche, Place To Be Nation's NBA-Team, are recapping the Finals, where the Celtics rank in the all-time champ rankings, and do the final two Gone Fishin' installments for the last two teams left. But that's not all! Riche and Adam also preview the NBA Draft, talk about the early free agency and trade speculation involving Paul George, Klay Thompson, Trae Young, and other potential moves. Then they finish it off with tributes to two basketball legends we recently lost in Bill Walton and Jerry West. So suit it up and take it out with the NBA-Team!

Very expensive teams, very limited trade options.. A number of these teams paid for the fortune of being ejected from the NBA playoffs quite early this year, but it's the coach's fault, right? It's not all doom and gloom though because we had some uplifting [NBA] stories with the Knicks and the Thunder this year. Anyway, it's the next batch of our postmortems for the 2023-24 season. Enjoy! Teams covered: PHI [2:20], CLE [9:04], NO [13:22], NYK [18:35], PHX [25:25], LAC [29:48], LAL [36:04]; DEN [41:17], OKC [46:30]
Dion and Mitch are joined by Nate from BoomingBasketball to discuss the Knicks and Nuggets being eliminated in the 2nd round before breaking down the Conference Finals. Thanks for listening!
