So the only two people who showed up for today's podcast were Tyler and Wanye, so that's what the whole show consisted of. They talked a little bit about the Oilers, but mainly about other things as they worked their way through the show. To start, Wanye shared the story of how he became a roadie for a Mexican rock band that is now coming to Edmonton! They could make an appearance on the show, so he shared the back story. They also talked about the Oiler's in-game presentation, the team's current five-game heater, and a few things surrounding the club like Oilers+. Before things got off the rails again, Tyler brought in the On The Bench boys, Jacob and Ollie, to talk about the upcoming Jasper Park Lodge pond hockey tournament, which we're partnering up with Tourism Jasper on. The guys went last year and even though they talked an extreme amount of smack about Tyler earlier, they pretended none of that happened and talked about their plans for the weekend. To wrap things up, Tyler listed who would be included in his dream golf grouping and Wanye ranted about how talented Drake is. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

A fresh week is underway and that means the boys from the Real Life Podcast are back with a brand new episode to help you ease back into work life. On today's show, the guys spent a little bit more time on the Evander Kane interview, what's going on with the Oilers, the S Club 7 reunion, and a whole lot more.To kick off today's podcast, the guys got started with filling Wanye in on all the details from the Evander Kane interview after he had to miss out on the chat as a result of some other commitments. From asking questions about how jacked Kane is to wondering about his Uggs, there was plenty more to talk about from the Kane interview as he revealed a bunch of interesting info about his first year in the city. Changing gears, the guys turned to the Edmonton Oilers and how it's a real struggle to cheer for this team right now as the boys continue to find new and creative ways to shoot themselves in the foot. After blowing another two-goal lead against the Colorado Avalanche, the guys wondered what the hell is going on and whether or not there's any light at the end of this tunnel. Changing gears, the guys then fawned over the S Club 7 reunion that's set to take place, but that doesn't mean there's no controversy that follows an announcement like this. Lastly, the guys wrapped up the Monday episode of Real Life with a bunch of random items on the to-do list, including some of the logistics from the Nation Vacation, goalie splits, and Vincent Desharnais being recalled from the Bakersfield Condors. On today's show, the guys looked at The Moffatts, Oilersnation History, and a whole lot more.To kick off today's podcast, the crew got started with a conversation about The Moffatts after Jay had a meeting with someone that works with the band, and was completely blown away by how big they are overseas. If you're old enough, you probably remember The Moffatts but what you may not know is that two of the brothers are still active and MASSIVE in Asia. From there, the guys told a few old Oilersnation stories as The Nation Network prepares for its 15th anniversary, and as you'll hear, things didn't always run quite as smoothly. From there, the podcast really fell off the rails as Wanye, Jay, and Baggedmilk told all kinds of stories that had nothing to do with anything, which ultimately to a whole lot of randomness. Getting back to the Oilers, the guys spent about five minutes yelling at Tyler after he asked the question about why ON threw a draft party when Connor McDavid was taken first overall back in 2015. A brand new week is underway, which means the boys from the Real Life Podcast are back with a brand new episode to help you ease back into work life after another round of practice retirement. On today's show, the guys looked at Saturday's horrendous loss to the Stars, what we should expect on this current road trip, and a whole lot more.Kicking off today's podcast, the guys got started with confessions about getting bamboozled on the Internet and how we can be so easily tricked these days. Whether it was Baggedmilk getting upset about Drake not going on the Howard Stern Show or Wanye falling for a fake John Tortorella quote about Auston Matthews, it doesn't take much to get had online these days. That led Wanye to finally telling the story about how he found out Sam Gagner was supposed to be the next captain of the Edmonton Oilers, and how the whole world came crashing down around them when he was wrong. Turning back to the Oilers, the guys looked at the disaster that happened on Saturday and how it's very disheartening to watch the team struggle as much as they are during the daylight hours. After that loss, Jack Campbell spoke to the media and could not have been harder on himself, and that led the guys to discuss different ways to get back on his game without anything getting worse. From there, the guys talked about tonight being Connor McDavid's 500th game and how it's a trip to think that he's already played this much hockey. Hosted on Acast. Whether it's Baggedmilk's leaky head or Tyler's scratchy throat, this podcast had huge potential to go off the rails before even getting started. Changing gears, the guys actually got to business with a chat about Ryan Reynolds' interest in buying the Ottawa Senators and how everyone on the show thought it was a fantastic idea. Next up, Wanye wondered if Drake might be the next Canadian celebrity in line to be a team owner, which led to Baggedmilk finding out he got bamboozled by the rapper with a deep fake video. Turning back to the Oilers, the guys looked at the Hall of Fame ceremony that's happening at Rogers Place tonight and how the extended pre-game ceremony is a real concern for the Oilers. Unsurprisingly, the conversation about the Oilers last about three seconds before the show fell off the rails yet again. Getting back to the Oilers, the guys announced more details for the game day giveaway that'll be happening for our friends in Calgary. As you'll hear, this contest could not be easier. This week's episode got off to a weird start as Yaremchuk asked the guys whether or not they'd rather spend a day 100 years in the past or 100 years in the future? That conversation ended up leading them down countless other paths like how Chalmers enjoyed seeing 'Hamilton' live, how duels used to work, what the sport of hockey could look like 100 years from now, and how technology could change. There was a lot going on and not a lot of it was at all related to our beloved Edmonton Oilers.Yaremchuk opened up about how his house renovations have been going and Chalmers ripped him for a mistake he made while laying down new floors, Wanye shared a gruesome encounter he had with a coyote, and Jay taught Tyler what pocket pool is! There was a lot going on.They did eventually lead to some Oilers talk as they discussed Auston Matthews winning the Hart Trophy over Connor McDavid. There were also a few writers that left #97 completely off their ballot and Wanye wanted to challenge THEM to a duel. They also took a quick look at the Stanley Cup Finals and the controversial call that happened last night between the Lightning and the Avalanche. A new episode of the Real Life Podcast is here to take you into the work week! This week features an epic throwback right from the jump and also the return of Chris Chalmers. It's been a few weeks since he joined the podcast as he recovered from the Oilers being eliminated from the playoffs. They talked about Levi's jeans, a wild story that involves a fake boy band and Japanese Village, and also a new TV show that Wanye is obsessed with. The episode had a lot of twists and turns early on, but they all eventually connected to each other... we think. PLUS: could Jay hit a ball our of ReMax Field? The group debated it.They did also talk some hockey as the Oilers missed out on free agent Andrei Kuzmenko. Tyler explained how that affects the Oiler's offseason plans. They also talked about potential contracts for the Oiler's three pending RFA forwards.Jay had to leave the podcast early which means that Wanye took over and once again talked about his plan to release an Oilers themed EP. Thursday has landed on your calendar which means the boys from the Real Life Podcast are back with a brand new episode to help you get through what's left of your week. On today's show, the guys looked at how the Oilers could clear some cap space, strange snacks, and much more.Kicking off the Thursday episode of Real Life, the guys got started with a conversation about Baggedmilk's fresh haircut and how getting cleaned up could only mean that he's getting married. Tyler's plan backfired on him, though, as Baggedmilk has no problem saying yes to any suggestion thrown his way. Changing gears, the conversation turned to the Edmonton Oilers and specifically how the team can clear some cap space. Unfortunately, as you'll hear, none of their ideas were any good. From there, the guys dove into some listener questions that came in on social media, and as expected, this segment steered the show right into the ditch. Whether it was deserted island living or convincing Tyler to eat weird things, the boys had a good time walking through some hypothetical scenarios and situations. Lastly, the podcast got wrapped up with another look at Wanye's rap album that he wants to produce throughout the offseason. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Does it get any better than the Oilers knocking the Flames out in five games and a brand new episode of Better Lait Than Never to make sense of it all? I don't think so. Not only did I cover what's happened so far and what's yet to come, but I also welcomed Wanye Gretz to the podcast to help make sense of this magical Cup run and chat about what else is going on in the world. To kick off this week's podcast, I jumped in with a look at the big news from the time since my last podcast, which is obviously that the Oilers beat the Flames in five games to move onto the Western Conference Final. As much as a lot of us wanted to believe that Edmonton would win that series, I'm not sure that there were many that would have predicted our side to steamroll over Calgary as quickly as what happened. That said, the end of the Battle of Alberta was not without controversy after Blake Coleman's potential go-ahead goal in Game 5 was called back for kicking even though it wasn't exactly clear. From there, I spent a few minutes looking ahead at a Colorado Avalanche team that will be a massive challenge for our boys to handle. Lastly, I wrapped up this week's podcast by welcoming Wanye Gretz to the show to talk playoffs, killing time on YouTube, and whatever else came to mind.  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Ahhhh game one of the Battle of Alberta did not go the way we wanted. It was wildly entertaining with a total of 15 goals and a crazy comeback by the Oilers, but that didn't totally mask just how awful the team played for some long stretches. The guys opened up episode 380 of The Real Life Podcast by sharing their thoughts on the first game against the Flames and where they thought things went wrong for the team. Tyler and Jay shared their disappointment with the boy's effort in the first game. Wanye was without a doubt the most optimistic of the bunch, as he's been throughout his entire playoff run. Chalmers also popped in with his take and his frustration with the portion of the fan base that always seems to want to write this team off after every loss. The guys also joked about how since it's the playoffs and they're so focused on the Oilers every night, the podcast has lacked its usual amount of nonsense and tom-foolery. Instead, it's basically just been a straight-up Oilers podcast, which is weird, right? Were they low-energy on the pod today? Sure, but so were the Oilers, so it's on brand!

On today's podcast, the guys looked at the Oilers locking in their playoff spot, betting on the Hart Trophy, and a whole lot more. To kick things off, the guys got the podcast started with a conversation about the NHL playoffs after the Oilers clinched their spot on Friday night with a huge win over the Colorado Avalanche. For Baggedmilk and Wanye — two guys that have been very careful over the last couple of years — the decision became whether or not it's worth the risk to go to the games. For everyone to a man, the answer is yes. From there, we looked at Connor McDavid's dash for the Art Ross Trophy as the Edmonton captain has once again gone supernova down the stretch. The question became, however, whether or not he'll be able to pass what has already been a career year for the first overall pick from 2015. Getting back to the team, the boys discussed the playoffs that are set to kick off next week and who we would start in net for game one. Is Mike Smith the defacto starter? Lastly, the podcast changed gears and the guys discussed the news that Elon Musk had purchased Twitter this morning. Will he make drastic changes? Will everything stay the same?

From there, Wanye joined the podcast and the conversation turned to last night's win against the Dallas Stars, and what the world would look like if we started cloning mascots. On today's podcast, the guys looked at celebrity net worths, the #NationVacation, and a whole lot more. To kick things off, the guys got the podcast started with a chat about music after Wanye noticed that Baggedmilk was wearing his headphones on the outside of his hoodie for some reason. That somehow led the guys to talk about everything from Kenny G's help in the Kanye/Kim proposal to taking guesses at David Copperfield's net worth, which led to an impromptu game of who's richer. Whether it was comparing Backstreet Boys to N'Sync, the guys spent way too much time arguing about boy bands and whether these guys should still be dancing at their age. Changing gears entirely, Yaremchuk walked us through the #NationVacation to Nashville and how it was an incredible experience for everyone involved. From the game on the ice to the party after the buzzer, Tyler made everyone feel the FOMO after what was undoubtedly an amazing trip down to Nashville. Back to the game, the guys talked about how that was a statement game for the Oilers as the team had to show plenty of resilience in order to secure two points. Splintering off from the game recap, the guys wondered whether there would be an appetite from the Oilers to bring back Mikko Koskinen as their backup next season provided that he would take a haircut on his contract and also that they could find a legitimate starter. Changing gears, the guys spent a few minutes talking about sports betting and whether players should be allowed to bet on games they're not involved in or not. That led to a conversation about Brendan Perlini after his mom alleged that he found out he was put on waivers through social media instead of from the team directly. Sticking with social media, the guys bounced to the viral clip from Wheel of Fortune that was circling Twitter this past week after a contestant didn't know the phrase "Another Feather in Your Cap." Two episodes of Better Lait Than Never on back-to-back days? It couldn't be! If you listened to last night's podcast with Wanye, you'll know that it was a marathon conversation that dove deep into the history of Oilersnation, where the idea came from, and what it took to make things go even when the site wasn't making any money. The problem, if you want to call it that, is that the conversation went on for nearly three hours, which meant that I had to forego the Righand Distillery voicemail because it probably would have tacked on another hour onto what was already a monster podcast. As a result, I decided to get back in the studio — by that, I mean setting my shit up on my kitchen table — and work through all of the amazing voicemails you've been leaving for me over the last week. In this week's episode of Better Lait Than Never, I wanted to clear some time and space because I knew that having Wanye as a guest meant that this one would run long. As much as I expected that this episode of the podcast was going to be different, I didn't really expect that it would go into as many areas as Wanye and I ended up getting to, but I also don't know why I was surprised. Any time the two of us get together with nothing but time on our hands, we end up diving into so many weird areas that I didn't really get to many of the topics I had prepped for today's show. From the start of Oilersnation to Ryan Smyth to his love of hip hop and pop culture, diving into Wanye's brain is something that I always enjoy and I really hope you all feel the same. And of course, how could I do a podcast with Wanye without talking about our beloved Edmonton Oilers, what's going on with this team, and where we think it needs to go to bring this franchise back to greatness. I know this is a fairly new podcast for me, but this was easily my favourite episode so far and I really hope you guys like it too.
