Nothing is better than a fresh episode of the Real Life podcast to recap the weekend and start your week. On the Monday episode of Real Life, the guys discussed the Oilers' series win, what to expect from the Vegas Golden Knights, and much more. The boys were shorthanded for the Monday episode of Real Life, but Tyler, Chalmers, and Baggedmilk kicked off the podcast with a recap of their first round win over the Los Angeles Kings. While many of the pundits and experts felt this was the Kings' year to beat the Oilers finally, what actually happened was a fantastic display of resilience by an Edmonton crew that would not quit. As a result, the Kings announced that they've parted ways with Rob Blake as the team's GM only days after a fourth consecutive first-round exit.Looking ahead at the Vegas Golden Knights, Tyler walked the boys through what to expect from their second round matchup vs. the Vegas Golden Knights. While there's little doubt the Golden Knights are a fantastic hockey club, Tyler also singled out some areas where the Oilers could have an advantage over the team that knocked them out of the playoffs two years ago. Changing gears, the guys then looked back at the two Game 7s that happened over the weekend, and how both games had the wildest endings you could ever hope to see. Finally, the guys wrapped up the Monday episode of Real Life with a random collection of topics, including a look back at some of the stats from Oilers/Vegas from two years ago, depth scoring, tactics, and much more. Despite playing shorthanded for the Monday show, the boys worked through the hour with an array of topics that were all over the map.

Thursday afternoon means a fresh episode of Real Life was recorded, edited, and ready to help you through the rest of your work week. On today's podcast, the guys discussed the #NationVacation to Vegas, Alex Ovechkin's goal chase, and much more. The guys started the Thursday episode of Real Life with a recap of the #NationVacation to Las Vegas and how it was a magical few days for the crew on Fremont Street. Starting with the way the boys cleaned up at the craps table, Baggedmilk updated Chalmers on how much money everyone made and how the trio can't seem to lose when they play together. From there, the guys started a semantic argument about the Ovechkin goal record chase and how the goals/game should be factored in once the record is tied. As you'll hear, most of the boys don't care much about those kinds of things, but that didn't stop Jay and Tyler from getting into it anyway. The guys started to wrap up the Thursday episode of Real Life with some Oilers talk about the injuries they're still battling and whether players like Connor McDavid and Stuart Skinner will be back before the playoffs. Given how tight the race is between the Oilers and the Kings, finding ways to win these last eight games has to be the focus. Finally, the Thursday episode of Real Life wound down with some baseball talk about the Jays and the new torpedo bats that seem to be taking the MLB by storm. Tyler and Chalmers then discussed some golf stories that have propped up lately, and we also gave Chalmers Jakey Baby's feedback that he's not a real golf fan. As always, the Thursday episode of Real Life was as random as it was enjoyable.

It's Friday afternoon, the trade deadline has passed, and now it's time to recap everything the Edmonton Oilers got done or didn't get done at the NHL's annual swap 'n shop. On today's show, we discussed the final 10 games of the regular season, team toughness, and much more. The guys kicked off the podcast with a 15-minute argument about traffic circles as the boys tried anything possible to avoid talking about the Oilers. As you'll hear, the boys got passionate after calling Jay into the room to share his theory on a specific traffic circle tactic in the west end. Do you agree with Jay's hack, or are you a traffic circle purist like Baggedmilk?Turning the show to the Oilers, the guys discussed the final 10 games of the season and how much we care about the results in this final stretch. If the team doesn't go 0-10, how much does it matter relative to the Oilers' need to get the team healthy? We also touched on Olivier Rodrigue's NHL debut that happened on Thursday against the Kraken and how it was a strong performance by the young man despite being thrown in the net in dire circumstances. Changing gears, we touched on Stuart Skinner's injury and whether the team in front of him responded adequately. Despite being a throwaway comment by Baggedmilk, the ensuing argument about the lack of team toughness got spicier than expected. As you'll hear, the boys all had very different ideas about the approach to those situations, and it was fascinating to hear everyone work through the angles. Finally, we wrapped up the episode with another round of betting talk, Ask the Idiots questions, and our Hot and Cold Performers. Even though the topics were all over the map, the conversation ended up getting a little bit spicier than you'd imagine from our usual Friday segments. Hosted on Acast. Thursday afternoon means a fresh episode of Real Life was recorded, edited, and ready to help you through the rest of your work week. On today's podcast, the guys discussed Wednesday's Oilers game, the What Chaos boys, and much more. The guys started the Thursday episode of Real Life with a discussion about Chalmers ignoring the boys regarding the March 18th Oilers game despite being invited by both Baggedmilk and Tyler. For some reason, Chalmers claims he did not notice the missed phone calls or messages but wanted to thank the boys for the gesture anyway.Changing gears, the podcast got derailed by the What Chaos boys after DJ Bean lost his wallet in the podcast studio. After a few minutes of chaos — pardon the pun — DJ found his wallet, and the boys left the studio. What no one expected, however, is that Chalmers used the opportunity to air out a six-year-old beef he has with Pete Blackburn allegedly stealing one of his tweets. As you'll hear, Chalmers may have an argument about his stolen tweet, but the real question is how Pete will respond.Sticking with the topic of fighting, the guys walked through some old fighting stories from when they were younger and how it's incredible that no one had camera phones in those days. Needless to say, if there is a benefit to being older, it has to be that most of our childhood was not captured on social media. Thankfully, those insane memories are gone forever. Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, the guys walked through Wednesday's game against the Dallas Stars and how it was an exciting night at Rogers Place even though the team couldn't complete the comeback. Despite a horrible run of luck, injuries, and strong goaltending by Jake Oettinger, the game was all over the map, from excitement to heartbreaking. Then again, if you've been an Oilers fan for any length of time, these down periods feel almost like home.

Thursday afternoon means a new episode of the Real Life podcast is ready to wrap up your week. On today's podcast, the guys discussed Mark Carney at Oilers practice, Chalmers not calling the boys back, and much more. The guys kicked off the episode with a discussion about why Chalmers did not return Tyler or Baggedmilk's call when they offered him a free ticket to the Oilers game. Even though the podcast started with Chalmers ghosting the boys, they didn't get more than two seconds into the story before changing topics. The guys then discussed Prime Minister Mark Carney joining the Oilers for practice this morning and how the sight is as interesting as it was controversial for some of the fanbase. Regardless of where you sit politically, what's objectively true is how unique it is for a sitting Prime Minister to be an Oilers fan. Politicians typically jump on the bandwagon in the playoffs, but Carney genuinely seems to love this team. Will a visit from the PM help the boys against the Winnipeg Jets?Changing gears, Tyler wanted to talk about some sports conspiracies after he fell down a rabbit hole of unexplained stories in the world of sports. From Alex Mogilny not being in the Hall of Fame to the Luka Doncic trade to the Lakers to some thinking that the Sedin twins changed place at one point in their career, the stories and theories are limitless. Regardless of what you think of these theories, it certainly is fun to talk about the possibility of high-level shenanigans. Finally, the guys wrapped up the Thursday episode of Real Life with a collection of random topics, including Kanye's recent run of horrible tweets, TikTok conspiracies, Blockbuster late fees, and much more. As always, the last half of Real Life was all over the place.

Monday afternoon means a new episode of the Real Life podcast is recorded, edited, and ready to kick off your week. On today's podcast, the guys discussed Jay and Baggedmilk's trip to Toronto, the Oilers winning their last two games in New York, the new Ice District development, and much more. The guys started the Monday episode of Real Life by recapping Jay and Baggedmilk's trips to Toronto. They explained that the trips were mostly filled with meetings and complaints about traffic. While it's always nice to see fellow staffers in Toronto, it's also nice to get back to Edmonton and out of the hustle and bustle.Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, Jay expressed his concerns about the Colorado Avalanche being an absolute wagon. Given that the Avalanche's Rantanen trade has seemingly worked out well, does that mean all roads in the Western Conference run through Colorado? On the Oilers front, the guys wondered if the boys were back after their win over the Rangers, which was one of their best games since the 4 Nations break.Changing gears, the guys discussed the new downtown development plan that the city recently greenlit and how the plan to bring more items to the Ice District will transform downtown Edmonton. From the event park to the future housing projects, there's little doubt that Daryl Katz's plan to revitalize the arena district is continuing to come to fruition. While we don't know the dates when the projects will be ready, the squad is still excited about what the city will look like in the near future. Finally, the guys wrapped up the Monday episode of Real Life with a random collection of topics, including the favour Tyler is doing for Jay, the PGA Players Championship, another rant from Chalmers about youth sports, and anything that popped into everyone's mind. As always, the Monday episode of Real Life was all over the map, precisely what you'd expect from this podcast.

Monday afternoon means a fresh episode of the Real Life podcast is recorded, edited, and ready to kick off your week. On today's podcast, the guys discussed slippery sidewalks in Edmonton, what the Oilers might do at the trade deadline, the weigh-in shenanigans, and much more.Chalmers kicked off the Monday episode of Real Life with a story about falling on the ice after the melt in Edmonton has resulted in some of the slipperiest sidewalks you can imagine. As it turns out, Chalmers isn't the only one to wipe out lately, as Baggedmilk revealed that he also took a spill this past week while walking his dog. Needless to say, reminding people to be careful out there when you're walking around.Turning the podcast to the Oilers, Tyler quizzed Chalmers on how much he's been paying attention to the news ahead of the NHL trade deadline. As you likely suspected, Chalmers hasn't really been paying attention all that much, but did hear about the recent Evander Kane news about wanting to come back to prove he's still got it. Given the Oilers' cap limitations, this latest Kane news isn't likely to be overly popular around these parts.Changing gears, Chalmers brought Tyler up to date with the Real Life weight loss challenge shenanigans, and how the boys still don't feel as though they should pay him considering his winning weight was not at a sanctioned weigh-in. With Jay on his way back from France as the podcast was recording, it will be fascinating to hear his side of the story and whether he think his win is legitimate. Finally, the fellas wrapped up the Monday podcast with an array of topics, including wallet innovation, getting ID'd at restaurants, men's league showers, and whether anyone cares about St. Patricks Day. As always, the boys were all over the map to close out the show, which was as predictable as it was unpredictable.

Monday afternoon means another episode of the Real Life podcast is set and ready to kick off your week. On today's episode, the guys discussed Tyler's Uber issue, travel stories from Montreal and Boston, and whatever random topics came to mind as they were recording. The guys started the Monday episode of Real Life by discussing why Tyler and Baggedmilk were the only ones who showed up for the Monday podcast. After starting the show by wondering where everyone was, Jay and Wanye wandered into the studio after the recording had already started, which derailed the conversation but also made it better.Changing gears, Tyler told a story about getting scammed by an Uber in Montreal after pre-booking a ride to the airport. As you'll hear, this was one of the most confusing Uber situations ever. While the car was in motion on the way to the airport, the driver tried to hustle Tyler out of some cash instead of taking him where he needed to be for the pre-negotiated fare. No matter how you look at the situation, it seems like Tyler got ripped off in what can only be described as a very odd situation. From there, Tyler told a few stories about his time in Montreal and Boston, which he described as one of the coolest sports experiences he's had with The Nation Network so far. He talked about the Canada vs. USA final, driving to Boston through a snowstorm, and took listeners behind the scenes on what it was like to put on live shows from the event. If you thought it was going to be one of those situations where everything ran smoothly, you will be pleasantly surprised at how things tend to go sideways. Finally, the guys wrapped up the podcast with an array of topics, including everyone's excitement for the Olympics, how great it was that Connor McDavid got his signature moment with Team Canada, and why Tyler needs to watch the movie Armageddon. As always, the Monday episode of Real Life was all over the map and wasn't able to stick on a single topic for very long.

It's Friday afternoon, which means a new episode of Oilersnation Radio has been recorded and edited and is ready to massage your earholes. On today's podcast, we discussed Canada vs. Sweden, predicted what will happen against Team USA, and much more. We kicked off the newest episode of ONR with a discussion about the anthems at the 4 Nations tournament and whether we think it's appropriate to boo at a sporting event or if the fans should leave politics out of the equation. As you'll hear, no one on the podcast would boo at a hockey game, but they also weren't prepared to say that no one should do it. That said, it's a complicated situation for the NHL and one that doesn't seem to have an end in sight. Changing gears, Baggedmilk told a few stories from his quick trip to Montreal. Despite only being in the city for 39 hours, he had a lot to say about being at the 4 Nations Face-Off, Bell Centre hot dogs being overrated, and what it was like to be in the building for Canada vs. Sweden. Baggedmilk admitted he wasn't overly excited about the tournament leading up to that first game, but that changed almost immediately after walking into the Bell Centre for the first time. Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, we looked through some rumours surrounding the team as the trade deadline approaches on March 7th. Starting with the Noah Dobson rumour that had people excited, Liam threw cold water on the situation after Frank Seravalli appeared on Oilersnation Everyday and said the idea doesn't make sense from an Islanders perspective. We also looked at the latest trade board over at Daily Faceoff and tried to figure out which other names might be a fit. Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk ahead of Saturday's matchup between Canada and the USA, some Ask the Idiots questions that were all over the board, and finally our Hot and Cold Performers of the week. As always, the final chunk of the podcast was all over the map with an array of topics and side quests.
The boys are in Montreal for the 4 Nations Face-Off, which meant an opportunity to talk about what it's like to be in the city for the tournament and to recap the Canada vs. Sweden game. Jay, Tyler, and Baggedmilk are in Montreal for the 4 Nations Face-Off and they kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life by recapping their experience from the Canada vs. Sweden game on Wednesday night. Starting with a recap of the Bell Centre, the guys gave their take on what was like to watch a game in that arena.Getting to the game itself, the guys spoke about how the excitement from the evening really ramping up the overall vibes of the tournament. For anyone who was on the fence about the tourney, seeing the players give it their all really pulled the fans into the game. By the time the game went to overtime, the arena was brimming with excitement, and it was impossible not to get wrapped up in the moment. Changing gears, Jay then told the story of sitting next to Ken Holland on the plane to Montreal, and how they ended up becoming fast friends as the flight progressed. As you'll hear, Jay's conversation with the former-Oilers GM was all over the map, and it was fascinating how forthcoming the future Hall of Famer was with the details. Finally, the guys wrapped up the podcast with a random collection of topics, including some cafeteria talk from the Bell Centre, the price of beers, and why Quebec uses commas in their numbers instead of the usual period. As our friend Woz would say, the culture shock was real.
It's Tuesday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your earholes and cover all of the Edmonton Oilers' biggest stories. This week, we're discussing the 4 Nations Face-Off, the Oilers' approach to the trade deadline, and much more. We kicked off the Tuesday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about how the NHL can get people more excited about the 4 Nations Face-Off. After cruising around social media, Baggedmilk got the sense that not everyone is dialled into the idea of the tournament taking over the next two weeks. As a result, the fellas came up with whatever ideas they could to try and raise the hype surrounding this one-off tourney. Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, we walked through Edmonton's loss to the Avalanche on Friday night and how it was a frustrating loss to see them go down the way they did. Starting with another tough night for Stuart Skinner, the Oilers had essentially lost that game before it even started after a string of costly errors put them in a hole in the first period. That had the boys wondering if Skinner's struggles have amplified the Oilers' need to acquire a goaltender, which led to Liam wondering where the John Gibson noise keeps coming from. Looking at some positive Oilers news, we talked about the incredible season Leon Draisaitl is having and how he seems to be getting better with each passing game. Even though some folks out east don't seem to appreciate his brilliance, watching him hit new levels and raise his game the way he has is a real treat to watch. Finally, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode with a round of rumour talk before getting into some betting talk for the 4 Nations tournament.
It's Monday afternoon, which means a new episode of the Real Life podcast is here to help us make sense of the world around us.The guys started the Monday episode of Real Life by discussing the Super Bowl, which was one of the more boring finals we've seen in the NFL in some time. Seeing as the game was basically over after the second quarter, the guys talked about how easily they were distracted down the stretch. Their discussion of the Super Bowl led them to discuss their betting sheets and how the Kendrick Lamar halftime show could be the end of Drake. Changing gears, Wanye wanted to talk about the rumours surrounding the Dallas Mavericks and how the Luka Doncic trade could be part of a higher conspiracy. If you follow the rabbit hole down far enough, you'll see theories about the state of Texas wanting a casino to be built and how that could tie to the Mavericks being bad. Sticking with basketball, the guys also talked about Jimmy Butler getting traded to Golden State and signing a new deal for $121 million. Getting back to the Oilers, the guys looked ahead to the trade deadline and offered their thoughts on what the Oilers should be fishing for. Whether it's a defensive upgrade like a Noah Dobson or a scoring winger that pushes everyone down in the lineup, there is little doubt in any of the guys' minds that the Oilers need to do something more than nibbling around the edges. Either way, the pressure is on Stan Bowman to make something happen to ensure the team can take another step forward. Finally, the guys talked about their trip to Montreal that's coming up this week, and how they're excited to head east even though they'll only be at the 4 Nations for 39 hours. Seeing as Baggedmilk has never been to Montreal, heading to the historic city for such a short amount of time is probably not ideal, but it will certainly be a great time anyway.
It's the last week of NHL games ahead of the 4 Nations Face-Off, so there was plenty to discuss on the Monday episode of the Real Life Podcast. The guys kicked off the Monday episode of Real Life by looking ahead at the Four Nations Face-Off and discussing whether they are getting more excited as the tournament approaches. Given that it's the only hockey we'll be able to watch for two weeks, the guys wondered how excited people will be even with some of the best players on the ice together for the first time. Tyler also brought up the Oilers' schedule and how they'll be on the road for nearly two weeks after the 4 Nations break is over. Changing gears, the guys talked about playing golf video games and how Chalmers has joined Baggedmilk and Tyler in playing PGA Tour: Road to the Masters. Given that all three of the boys have that game, they're already setting the table for a Real Life virtual goal tournament when the boys can finally sync their schedules up and get to work. Feeling jealous that the boys are all playing golf, Jay invited himself over to Chalmers' house so that they could fill out the foursome. Turning the podcast toward the NBA, the guys discussed the Luka Doncic trade that sent the Mavs superstar to the L.A. Lakers over the weekend and tried to figure out what a comparable deal would look like in the NHL. Chalmers and Tyler discussed how a massive deal like this can go down with only one trade partner in the mix. Could you imagine a scenario where a team would trade an Auston Matthews-calibre prospect without anyone else in the league knowing he's available?

On this week's show, the guys discussed Chalmers' extra days in Jasper, getting the weight loss challenge back on track, and whether the team should sign Brendan Saad. The fellas kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life with a discussion about Chalmers' extra days in Jasper after his family decided to stay back to do a little skiing. Seeing as Chalmers played hockey all weekend before his ski adventure, the ol' body wasn't feeling nearly as fresh as he needed it to be. That ski trip also gave Chalmers another dose of reality that his sons will soon start lapping their old man in the world of sports.Changing gears, the guys checked in on the weight loss challenge with their official weigh-ins for the week. Given that the boys just had a monster weekend at the JPL that was ripe with cocktails and snacks, it's almost a miracle that they could stay relatively flat with their totals. Now that the tournament is over, Chalmers and Baggedmilk both talked about the need to lock in and get back on track to win Jay's money.Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, the boys discussed the idea of signing Brendan Saad after the St. Louis Blues just bought him out. Saad chose to get bought our and forgo the remaining money on his deal because he didn't want St. Louis to send him down to the minors, which creates an interesting opportunity for the Oilers provided they think it's a fit. Would you sign Saad knowing that he would add even more depth to the roster, or is he too close to one of our other players that makes it unlikely?
Monday afternoon means a new episode of the Real Life Podcast is ready to kick off your week and help you make sense of this crazy little thing called life. On this week's podcast, the guys discussed the Jasper Pond Hockey tournament, Baggedmilk's hot dog charity drive, and got an update for the Real Life weight loss challenge. The guys started the Monday episode of Real Life with an update on the podcast weight loss challenge. As you'll hear, Jay and Baggedmilk are down some weight, while a big weekend's worth of food and drinks has Chalmers up 200 grams. The best part about Chalmers gaining a little bit is that he spent the Thursday podcast episode bragging about being down six pounds.Tagging onto the weight loss challenge, the guys got an update about Baggedmilk's hot dog charity drive now that he's got a week's worth of dogs under his belt. Even though no on expected this bit to go on this long, it's amazing to see how the community has rallied around the challenge to raise over $5000 for SCARS animal rescue.Changing gears, the fellas looked ahead at the Jasper Pond Hockey tournament and Chalmers' plan to get everyone to stay an extra day so they could ski at Marmot Basin. Chalmers is very excited about the tournament, and if he can find a way to get everyone to stay an extra day, he could put himself even further behind in the weight loss challenge. Finally, the guys wrapped up the Monday episode of Real Life with a random collection of topics. They discussed everything that went down around the NFL this past weekend, recapped some winners and losers, and updated everyone on what's happening with the Real Life weight loss challenge. Needless to say, the Monday episode of Real Life was all over the map once again.
On a scale from one to infinity, how excited were you to see that a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast was recorded, wrapped, and ready to carry you into the weekend? You're very excited, and everybody knows it.The guys kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life by discussing how Sportsnet was duped by an Oilersnation April Fools article from years ago in a recent post about McDavid escaping additional discipline for an elbow against the Wild. As you'll hear, the boys had a healthy chuckle about Sportsnet's mishap and how the article still isn't fixed even 14 hours later. That led to the guys discussing whether or not McDavid deserved some kind of fine after that elbow.Sticking with Connor McDavid, the guys spent some time making up fan fiction about No. 97's home life and tried to imagine what silly arguments he has with his wife. Do they argue about walking the dog? Dishes? Do they have people to handle those day-to-day items? Obviously, we'll never know the answers to those questions unless the couple invites people into their home for a reality show or something, but that didn't stop the boys from having fun imagining scenarios anyway.Changing gears, the guys looked ahead at the Jasper Pond Hockey tournament and how the boys are incredibly excited to get back to the Jasper Park Lodge for the third annual tourney. Not only is it a good time in a beautiful location, but it's also geared at raising money for a great cause. Given that Baggedmilk, Chalmers, and Tyler have been to the tournament for three straight years, they walked through some of the logistics from the weekend and how they plan to party at this year's event. https://twitter.com/NationRealLifehttps://www.youtube.com/@Oilersnationdotcom/ https://www.facebook.com/OilersNation/https://www.instagram.com/nationreallife/https://www.tiktok.com/@oilersnation SHOUTOUT TO OUR SPONSORS!!
It's Tuesday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your earholes and cover all of the Edmonton Oilers' biggest stories. On this week's podcast, we discussed the NHL playoff format, Monday's win over the Los Angeles Kings, and a whole lot more.We kicked off the Tuesday podcast with a delicious debate about the NHL playoff format and whether it's time for the league to revisit how the post-season is set up. With the current setup in place, the NHL clearly focuses on playoff rivalries more so than if everyone got re-seeded. Still, a conversation at Nation HQ made Baggedmilk wonder if it's time to re-visit the current format, which ultimately prompted the discussion.Returning to the Oilers, we looked back at last night's 1-0 win over the Los Angeles Kings and how it was one of Edmonton's best defensive outings of the season. Given that only one goal was scored all night, it was crucial to manage the puck carefully to avoid costly errors, and the guys discussed why the Oilers could do that successfully. We also discussed Connor McDavid scoring the game-winner on his 28th birthday and how an incredible second effort by Leon Draisaitl made the whole play possible.Sticking with the news from the past few days, we revisited Jeff Skinner being healthy scratched again and whether there's something to that lineup decision or if Kris Knoblauch went 11/7 to add some size to the lineup with Josh Brown. Given that Skinner was starting to play better, it was surprising for some Oilers fans to see him taking a spot in the press box again. We also looked at the rumour from Darren Dreger that the Oilers could be one of the teams interested in John Klingberg, who is reportedly nearing a return to the NHL.Finally, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with a discussion about another tough stretch in the Oilers' schedule that's coming up this week. The Oilers were able to handle the last difficult week of the schedule quite well the last time, but it will be much tougher to beat some of those teams for a second time. Either way, we gave our keys to victory regarding what the Oilers need to do to beat the Wild/Avalanche, and what habits they need to flex to make sure it's doable. Either way, the boys were feeling bullish.SHOUTOUT TO OUR SPONSORS!!
Monday afternoon means a new episode of the Real Life Podcast is ready to kick off your week and help you make sense of this crazy little thing called life. On this week's podcast, the guys recapped home security, Jay's trip to Mexico, and set the terms for the Real Life weight loss challenge. The fellas kicked off the Monday episode of Real Life with a story from Tyler after he woke up convinced that someone was trying to break into his house. After a day of drinking for the Buffalo Bills, a beer league game, and a healthy dose of spidey senses, a potential intruder woke Tyler up in the middle of the night, leading the boys to discuss home safety. Initially, Tyler thought the boys would make fun of his story, but what happened was a discussion about how to deal with intruders.Next up on the schedule, Jay recapped his vacation to Mexico and started with a story about how he slept through an earthquake. Even though a bunch of folks around him felt the incident, Jay slept right through the whole event. Changing gears, Jay then told a story about a bar he went to in Mexico that was Oilers themed. Seeing as it was the spot for Canadians in Mexico to watch hockey, experiencing a couple of games in that setting was a very fun way to experience an Oilers game. Changing gears, the guys got back to the weight loss challenge they started talking about back in December and started the contest with an official weigh in. Jay came in at 230.1 pounds, Chalmers was at 199.8 pounds, and Baggedmilk was at 202.8 pounds, and now the contest will be who can lose 20 pounds the fastest or by the end of the end of the NHL regular season. With $200 on the line from each person, the race is on to get fit. Needless to say, the Monday episode of Real Life was all over the map once again.
On a scale from one to infinity, how excited were you to see that a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast was recorded, wrapped, and ready to carry you into the weekend? Infinity excited, right? Of course. The guys kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life with a discussion about the Jasper Pond Hockey tournament that's coming up in a couple of weeks at the Jasper Park Lodge and how the boys have started pulling some pranks on their out-of-town co-workers. From convincing guys they need to play with a wood stick to pre-negotiating the post-game party spot, it's clear how excited everyone is to get back to Jasper and play some hockey.Somehow, talking about playing hockey led to an extended discussion about the Olive Garden. Even though none of the guys had been to Olive Garden in forever, they still spent a lot of time talking about all the times they used to eat there. They also discussed how the restaurant removed Wanye's favourite seafood portofino dish. Nobody knows how the podcast landed on restaurant talk, but they spent more time there than expected. With the Olive Garden talk out of the way, the guys examined the weight loss of Chalmers, Baggedmilk, Jay, and Tyler and noted that they're still looking for a way to loop in charity. While Tyler and Baggedmilk have started chipping away at the challenge, Chalmers has been sick for the last week, and Jay is still in Mexico, so who knows how this challenge is going to turn out. Will they lose weight? Will Baggedmilk's hot dog challenge cause him to gain weight? Finally, the guys wrapped up the Thursday podcast with a story about Wanye leaving the Real Life group chat because he feels Tyler texts the group way too early. As you'll hear, the reason for having his notifications on makes sense, but in this case, he could have taken some very easy steps to mute notifications instead of having to leave the group chat.
Thursday afternoon means a new episode of the Real Life Podcast is ready to wrap up your week and help you make sense of this crazy little thing called life. On this week's podcast, the guys talked about their New Year's Eve plans, getting into the World Juniors, and a whole lot more. The guys started the Thursday episode of Real Life by discussing New Year's Resolutions and how this point on the calendar feels like a zone where days blend together. But now that the calendar has flipped to 2025, routines are starting to feel a little more normal. Needless to say, it's always a battle to get back in the swing of things after the Christmas break.Sticking with New Year's Eve, the guys ran through their plans from the night, and what was most interesting was that no one did anything and loved it. That led Chalmers and Baggedmilk to argue about the state of country music after both guys watched the Nashville NYE special. Since Chalmers is a country purist, he didn't appreciate the face tattoos and auto-tuned singing that has invaded the genre over the last year or so.Finally, the fellas wrapped up this episode of the podcast with a collection of random topics, including the scaring of children, Jay's new hydrogen water bottle, and a bunch of other nonsense that was not included on Tyler's prep sheet. As you'll hear, Jay is very passionate about his new hydrogren bottle and tried to convince the fellas that it wasn't just wasted money. As always, the Thursday episode of the podcast was all over the map even when they tried to stay on topic.Nation Real LIfe
Monday afternoon means a new episode of the Real Life Podcast is ready to kick off your week and help you navigate the Christmas break. On today's show, the boys discussed Leon Draisaitl's fantastic season, NFL quarterback gifts, and much more. With only Baggedmilk and Tyler available to record, the boys started the Monday episode with some Oilers talk. Starting with Leon Draisaitl's commitment to defence, it's been wonderful to watch our German superstar elevating his game at a time when the team needed him. While we've seen him play more of a two-way style in the playoffs, having him do it during the early days of the regular season has been fantastic. Changing gears, the conversation shifted to some of the gifts NFL quarterbacks are giving their offensive linemen as gifts, and what we've learned is that those dudes are that they have no problem spending cash on the big men who protect them. Whether it's giving the O-line a new car, expensive tequila, or explaining that they can't all get guns, it's fascinating to see the kind of money that flies around at Christmas. Getting back on the ice, Baggedmilk and Tyler spent some time talking about the father and son who got into a fight with each other at a beer league game. It prompted the boys to wonder how they would fare against their own dads if push came to shove. As you'll hear, neither of them thinks they'd have any chance against their dads on flat ground but could have a chance to win that fight on ice. Finally, Tyler and Baggedmilk wrapped up the podcast with some more hockey talk as they looked around the league and tried to figure out why some of the bad teams aren't better. Why do the Buffalo Sabres always suck? Is Steve Yzerman as good of a general manager as people expected? All the fellas know for sure is that there are a lot of stinky teams out there, and knowing that gives Baggedmilk comfort.
The Edmonton Oilers delivered a four-point weekend to Oil Country! On today's Oilersnation Everyday, we'll recap their thrilling 3-2 OT win over the San Jose Sharks, where the star players stepped up when it mattered most, and their commanding 3-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators, a game they controlled from start to finish. We'll break down both games with our usual scoring summaries, tackle today's Sherwood Ford Giant Question, and take a look at what's trending around the NHL.Plus, we're joined by our old friend BaggedMilk, who will be with us for the entire show to help spread some holiday cheer! It's our last episode before Christmas, so happy holidays to all our viewers!
After a tough loss to the Florida Panthers on Monday, the Edmonton Oilers got themselves back in the win column with a comeback effort against the Boston Bruins. Was it the prettiest win you'll ever see? No. Does it matter when you get two points? Also, no... maybe. We started the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio with a delicious debate about the Oilers' new defensive pairings from practice this morning. Although Kris Knoblauch doesn't mix up his D-pairings very often, this morning's practice showed a significant shift away from the status quo. Do you like the new pairings? Do you hate them? Are you confused by the change like Baggedmilk? The answers were all over the map.Changing gears, we looked back at Thursday's win over the Bruins and how the Oilers secured the victory despite not playing their best game. A big part of that win was Leon Draisaitl's seventh consecutive multi-point night, which gave him 50 on the year and 900 points in his career. We also discussed Viktor Arvidsson's return to the lineup and how a devastating hit in the corner arguably punctuated his first night back on the ice. Finally, we finished the Friday episode of ONR with another round of Ask the Idiots, betting talk, and Hot and Cold Performers to wrap up the week. With all of the serious Oilers talk out of the way, it's always nice to wind down with a little bit of shenanigans, and there was plenty of that in the second episode of the week. As for what next week's schedule looks like, we'll be taking Tuesday off to enjoy Christmas Eve before getting right back on it for the Friday episode of the pod.
It wouldn't be a Monday afternoon without a fresh episode of the Real Life podcast, would it? Of course not.The guys kicked off the first podcast episode of the week by discussing the Nation Citizen Christmas party and how the boys are excited to see everyone at Dogpatch for a night of shenanigans and a viewing party. That led to a chat about Baggedmilk and Jay's time in Toronto and how they had to jump on a plane almost immediately after getting home from the #NationVacation from Denver.Turning the show back to the Oilers, the conversation turned to whether or not it was fair that the Rogers Place faithful let the boo birds rain down on Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg. Unlike some folks in the media, the boys thought booing them was fair game. Even though both players weren't necessarily at fault for the offer sheet situation, everyone wondered if part of booing those two was also a reflection of what the fanbase thinks of management.Changing gears, the guys discussed the Juan Soto contract that he signed with the NY Mets and how the money in that sport is completely bananas. Despite not being in the same league as Shohei Ohtani in terms of being a hitter and pitcher, the Soto contract is almost as big as the New York Mets decided to empty the vault out for the former-Yankee. Now that Soto is a Met, it will be fantastic to see what the reception is like the first time he goes back to Yankee stadium. Finally, the guys wrapped up the Monday episode of Real Life with a discussion about the annual Jasper Pond Hockey Tournament that will be happening again in January. After the devastation of the wildfires from this past summer, knowing that the tourney is back makes everyone so very happy. If you want to sign up for the tournament, head to the CHE Hockey website and enter your team before they're full.
The boys are back in Edmonton for their regularly scheduled Thursday edition of The Real Life Podcast. With Jay and Baggedmilk still on the road, today's episode featured Tyler, Wanye, and Chalmers and one of the three was in a very spicy mood.Chalmers hasn't been on the podcast for a few weeks as he recovered from elbow surgery and he returned to tell us the tales of his surgery and how good he's feeling in the aftermath. He was also livid that the boys are back in the old studio after moving upstairs for exactly one episode. From there, they talked about the Four Nations Faceoff roster reveal and the stunning lack of Oilers in the mix for Team Canada. They also talked about the selection process in general and then got into some talk about the current state of the Oilers after their 1-0 loss to the Golden Knights. Tyler also told some more tales from The Nation Vacation and Chalmers had some takes about the current state of youth hockey.
A fresh Real Life from the road as the guys gathered in a hotel room to record the latest episode of The Real Life Podcast. Tyler, Jay, Baggedmilk and Rick were all in Denver for the Nation Vacation. They recapped the first few days of the trip, which featured a pair of victories by the Edmonton Oilers, and talked about everything else that's gone on during the vacation. From Woz's adventures to the group living live to the fullest in the Mile High city, they had plenty to talk about on the podcast. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Tyler, Baggedmilk, Rick and Jay fired up the mobile studio from their hotel room in downtown Denver, Colorado to break down the first 48 hours of the first Nation Vacation of the year. To kick things off, they talked about the Oilers three-game winning streak and what's been propelling the team to victory. Vasiliy Podkolzin, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and the goaltending all got some love. From there, they got into what everyone's been up to over the last few days as they took over the Mile High city. From the bus ride to the game to watching as a group as the Oilers got a big victory in Utah, it's been a great first few days and there was a lot for the boys to talk about.

It wouldn't be a Monday afternoon without a fresh episode of the Real Life podcast, would it? Of course not. The boys kicked off the podcast by discussing an idea from Target in the USA: patrons can enjoy a beer while they're shopping. The boys then wondered if they would even want to spend more time in the grocery store or if they believed this could be an insurance issue waiting to happen.Changing gears, the guys spent the next few minutes talking about the Nation Vacation at the end of the month and how the boys are excited about the 5KM run they organized for Denver. Baggedmilk, however, is thrilled to be sitting out that run and promises to meet the boys with a fresh beer when they cross the finish line. Turning the podcast back toward the Oilers, the boys discussed how great it was to watch the boys dismantle the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday. Given that the boys were struggling to score goals, is it too much to hope that the floodgates could open up a little bit? That said, there are still a couple of players — Nugent-Hopkins and Podkolzin, specifically — who are struggling mightily to get pucks in the net. Finally, the fellas wrapped up the podcast with a discussion about Jeff Marek joining The Nation Network and how it's wild to think about how far TNN has come over the years. Needless to say, welcoming Marek into the family was a big moment for the company, and the guys are all excited to see what kind of content he produces with the MSM shackles coming off. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
The Canucks are racking up the wins! It was a strong showing in So Cal, as the Canucks defeated the Kings 4-2 to conclude the 3 game road trip. They're back in Vancouver set for a date with the Oilers on HNIC this Saturday night! Bagged Milk of Oilers Nation joins the show today.

Oilers futures, NFL football talk, and the #NationVacation to DenverThe guys started the Monday episode of Real Life with a conversation about concession prices after the Utah Hockey Club released the prices for the upcoming season. If you haven't seen the graphic, Utah will be offering some very cheap food options, which is a far cry from what we've seen here in Edmonton at Rogers Place.Changing gears, the fellas spent the next few minutes talking about the Nation Vacation to Denver and how the boys are getting very excited about getting everyone together for a weekend in the mountains. If you're still thinking about whether or not to come for the journey, this segment could be the push it takes to pull the trigger. As you'll hear, the guys have some big sports plans for that whole weekend.Turning back to the Oilers, the boys looked at a few future bets for the upcoming season. From points totals to predicting goal totals for Jeff Skinner, everyone is clearly feeling bullish about the Oilers doing great things. On the flip side, Baggedmilk reengaged the argument from Friday's episode of ONR about whether or not the Janmark, Henrique, and Brown trio is worthy of being called a third line or not. Finally, the fellas wrapped up the Monday episode of Real Life with a look back at some of the old Oilers line combinations from opening day in years past. Needless to say, the Oilers' line combos weren't quite as juiced up as they are these days, and it's honestly incredible that Edmonton fans were able to drink the Kool-Aid at that time. In the end, today's episode of Real Life probably had the most sports talk of any episode in recent memory.
It wouldn't be a Thursday afternoon without a fresh episode of Real Life to massage your earholes and help you get through the rest of the work week. On today's episode, the guys talked about the Nation's fantasy football league, the Oilers' pre-season, and the Oilers appearing on Amazon Prime's upcoming docu-series. The boys kicked off today's podcast with a conversation about the Oilers' pre-season and how it's been a slog to get through these eight tune-up games. Not only is the pre-season the worst time on the NHL calendar, but having to grind through these meaningless nights always feels like they take forever. Sticking with hockey, the boys spent a few minutes talking about the Amazon docu-series that's coming out soon, and how the Oilers clips have the boys all fired up to see the curtain get peeled back a little bit. However, knowing how the Stanley Cup Final went, Baggedmilk thinks it may take a minute before the heartbreak subsides and he's able to watch it. Changing gears, Tyler walked Chalmers through some shenanigans that are happening in the Nation HQ fantasy football league after Woz made a trade that was as shocking as it was bad. Trying to play devil's advocate, Chalmers did his best to defend Woz's move, but even he couldn't keep the charade going for very long as he started getting more details. Finally, the fellas wrapped up the Thursday episode with a random collection of topics, including Chalmers' hatred of self checkouts at Home Depot, some betting talk on the weekend's football games, and why this season of Big Brother is starting to get very boring. As always, the final 15 minutes of the Thursday episode of Real Life was all over the map, and probably the most fun the boys had this past week.
It's Monday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast is back, edited, and ready to help you start your week. This week, the guys looked back at NFL Sunday, ahead at the Grey Cup, and wondered how The boys kicked off the Monday episode of Real Life with a conversation about this past weekend in the NFL after Baggedmilk rolled into the studio wearing a new Vikings jersey and hat. Despite the chirps about the outfit, BM was looking fresh, and no one could handle the sizzle. Talking about the Vikings led the guys to talk about some of the best sports line nicknames that they can remember from over the years.Changing gears, the guys talked about the Young Stars Tournament that happened in Penticton this past weekend and how the Oilers' rookies have struggled immensely against the Canucks and Flames. If you haven't been paying attention, Edmonton has fared poorly against its peers at the tournament, and some people are concerned about the future of the depth chart. Sticking with the Oilers, the guys spent some time on what they think the concession prices will be when the new NHL season starts. If beers were $16.50 during the playoffs, is it reasonable to expect the price to go up to $18 or more? As a result, Baggedmilk asked folks to send us a note about what everyone thinks is the most egregious price increase on concession items. Finally, the boys wrapped up the Monday episode of Real Life with a random collection of topics that were all over the map. From betting on the Elks to win the Grey Cup to Commonwealth Stadium upgrades to whether or not the podcast should pivot to being a CFL show, the final segment from the Monday epi
It's Thursday afternoon, meaning a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast is back, edited, and ready to massage your earholes. The guys started the podcast with a quick recap of the Monday episode of Real Life now that the gang was all back together. Seeing as Baggedmilk, Tyler, and Jay missed the last podcast, Wanye and Chalmers walked through what the boys missed since the boys were able to bring in their childhood friend as a pinch hitter. From there, Tyler was finally able to reveal to Jay and Chalmers that his team cheated at the Oilersnation Open and that the two playoff holes were completely unnecessary. Now that the boys know about Tyler's house of lies, the question becomes whether or not he should have to do both punishments. Being the good sport he is, Yaremchuk humbly accepts whatever is to come.Changing gears, Chalmers talked about how this is the best time of year for sports now that the NFL is back and baseball is heading into its playoff stretch, and how it doesn't get better than having everything happen all at once. Sticking with football, Chalmers went on a rant about how the NFL should be more transparent with player injuries, given how much betting money is put down around games these days. Finally, the guys wrapped up the podcast with a collection of topics that were all over the map. From Baggedmilk revealing his NFL allegiance to what's happening with Deshaun Watson's standing with the Cleveland Browns to why you need to join the fellas on the Nation Vacation to Denver, the last 15 minutes of Thursday's show were pure chaos. Are you surprised? Of course not.
There's no way your Thursday wouldn't be complete without a fresh episode of the Real Life podcast to wrap up your week, would it? Of course not. Thankfully, the gang was back with a fresh episode of Real Life that was all over the map and covered a wide range of topics. The guys started the podcast with a random collection of topics, including Chalmers' party habits, leaving drinks around Nation HQ, and always having to be the last one to bed regardless of the social scenario. Talking about Chalmers led Jay to discuss their guys' golf trip and how it takes a minute to get the body warmed up as you get older.Changing gears, the guys walked Baggedmilk through some of the topics he missed during his vacation and got his take on everything from the offer sheets to the trades made in the days leading up to the decision. As much as it was annoying to have the Oilers put in a tough spot like they were, the fellas thought the Oilers actually did a reasonable job of navigating the issue. Finally, the guys wrapped up the Thursday episode of Real Life with a collection of topics that ranged from Tyler's new fence to dog sitting and how grandparents are the key to unlocking advancements in one's life. Despite Tyler having some prep done for today's podcast, the least surprising news of the day was that the show got derailed by a random collection of topics to wrap up the episode. Hosted on Acast. Happy Monday Nation Citizens. To kick off a fresh week, the Real Life crew (sans Baggedmilk) is back with another fresh episode of the podcast. To begin things today, the guys talked about their weekends, which featured a golf trip for a few of them. There was a little bit of controversy between Jay and Chalmers as one of the two is accusing the other of tanking his handicap to give himself an advantage on their trip. Tyler sparked up a conversation about the worst kinds of people to get paired up with on a golf course. They eventually would get into some hockey talk as Patrik Laine was traded during the show. They gave their guesses on what the full trade would look like and were all proven hilariously wrong by the end of the pod. Finally, they got into some talk about the Oilers busy weekend, which saw GM Stan Bowman make not one, but two trades. What do those two deals mean for the futures of Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg? The guys discussed that and debated what the right thing for the Oilers to do is.To end things off, they talked a little bit about the last week in the Big Brother house and the first few weeks of the NFL preseason.
It's Friday afternoon, meaning a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio has been edited and ready to massage your ear holes. This week, we're talking about the Stan Bowman hire, the Edmonton heat wave, and whatever random nonsense we could think of to fill the time. The guys kicked off the podcast with a delicious debate about the Stan Bowman hiring and whatever everyone thought about what was easily the most controversial move in recent memory. Given his history in Chicago, it's not surprising that the reaction from Oilers fans was filled with rage. Yet, despite the backlash, it was clear that the organization really doesn't care about what their fanbase thinks, which left a sour taste in many fans' mouths. Moving the podcast to what happens on the ice, Baggedmilk asked the fellas how much pressure they think Bowman is under to get the Oilers to finally win it all. Given that he wasn't the one who put this current team together, does he get a free pass on this first year as GM regardless of the results? Or should Oilers fans expect more from him than simply sitting back and watching what happens over the next 12 months? Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio by answering your questions with another round of Ask the Idiots before diving into Hot and Cold Performers to recap everything that's happened over the last seven days. Even though there wasn't much to talk about, the boys still managed to yammer on for over an hour about everything from the Oilers to the NFL to how excited everyone is that the Olympics are finally up and running.
