It's Tuesday afternoon, and there's a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio set, which means the boys were back in the studio to recap the week that was. On today's episode, the guys discussed the Oilers' back-to-back losses, Connor McDavid's scoring woes, goaltending, and much more. We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate over whether the Oilers have an identity problem. Given how sloppy they've been through the first 10 games, it's fair to wonder why this team cannot figure out how to start a season off on the right foot. Regardless of where you sit with the question, no one on the podcast is particularly concerned, even though the results haven't gone our way. Frustrating? Yes. Worrying? Not yet. Changing gears, we looked back at the two losses from this past weekend and how the same damned mistakes keep preventing any forward progress. The guys also discussed Connor McDavid's only goal this season and dissected his shot totals from previous years, when he was much more active. While no one on the show thinks this trend will continue, the message from everyone's standpoint was that the captain needs to shoot more. He's too good not to be. Finally, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with another round of Baggedmilk's Trivia, including some Oilers vs. Utah-specific questions ahead of tonight's game. If you listened to last week's episode, you'll know that BM was way off on one of the questions, which prompted Liam to take on the role of trivia marshall and auditor. From Matthew Tkachuk talking about the experience of having a chance to win the Stanley Cup at home to Connor McDavid discussing, and disagreeing, with the pressure he's under, this episode covers all the storylines in advance of Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final.  Dan and Shawn start by talking about how the Panthers put themselves on the verge of winning their second straight Stanley Cup championship. That leads the conversation to what's at stake in Game 6, the discussion goes to McDavid and if he's under the most pressure right now. Roarke disagrees, because he doesn't think McDavid's legacy will be defined by championships won. Rosen thinks part of his legacy will be defined by winning a Stanley Cup. McDavid weighs in on the pressure too followed by Tkachuk discussing what it will be like to go up against a desperate McDavid in Game 6. They also talk about the Oilers' comeback ability, with Edmonton coach Kris Knoblauch discussing the team's resiliency, where it has shown up this postseason and why. Before putting a bow on the Stanley Cup Final talk, Rosen and Roarke talk about Edmonton's goaltending situation, the fact that Knoblauch hasn't yet announced if the Oilers starting goalie in Game 6 will be Stuart Skinner or Calvin Pickard.  Finally, they talk about the Olympic announcements that came out Monday, with all 12 competing nations in the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 in February announcing the first six players to their rosters. Neither the United States nor Canada named a goalie. Is that a surprise or was it expected? And which underrated national team should we all be watching come February?

Getting into the regularly scheduled programming, we looked back at Kris Knoblauch's decision not to challenge Warren Foegele's goal in Game 4. As you'll hear, the boys were split on the play.Looking back at Game 4, we started the review by discussing Leon Draisaitl's brilliance. Not only did he register four points in a critical game, but he also extended his postseason point streak against the Kings to 18 games. In that stretch, Draisaitl has amassed an unbelievable 35 points. The guys also discussed Evan Bouchard's incredible run of postseason offence, which ranks him second only to Bobby Orr in league history. Finally, the fellas wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with a run of betting talk for our friends at bet365, Knoblauch's decision to roll with Calvin Pickard, keys to victory in Game 5, and offered a few reasons why everyone should believe the Oilers can get the job done. Friday afternoon means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio has been recorded, edited, and is set to massage your ear feelings. On this week's podcast, the guys discussed what needs to happen in Game 3 defensively, Wednesday's loss to the L.A. Kings, and much more. The boys started the Friday podcast with a delicious debate about the Oilers' defensive game and what specifically needs to improve for the team to avoid the chaos that's been happening in their zone through two games. Whether it's better decisions with the puck, supporting each other as passing options, or throwing the puck up the middle of the ice, there are countless ways Edmonton can improve in their zone that should lead to better results. The guys continued the conversation about Game 3 with a look at Calvin Pickard getting the start in favour of Stuart Skinner, and gave takes on whether this was the right decision by Knoblauch. Given that Skinner has allowed 11 goals on 58 shots through the first two games, it wasn't exactly surprising to see the goalie swap for Friday night, but the move is also not without risks. The other angle is that Calvin Pickard played well down the stretch and probably earned an opportunity to get back in the crease. From there, the discussion turned to the opposite end of the ice and what the Oilers need to do to generate more offence than we're seeing. Starting with getting more pucks on net, the Oilers really need to simplify their game and start doing more to make life uncomfortable for Darcy Kuemper. We also discussed the need for more bodies to the crease to fish for secondary chances and greasy playoff-like goals. Much like on the defensive side of the puck, there is a lot of room to improve. Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of Ask the Idiots, betting talk for our friends at bet365, and Hot and Cold Performers to look back on the week. Even though the team is down 0-2 in the first round, the ONR squad felt positive despite the circumstances. The question remains whether or not the Oilers feel just as bullish on what they're capable of doing on Friday back at Rogers Place. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
