The Conference Finals are here and there's no shortage of storylines across the NHL. Brenden Escott and Kyle Bukauskas dive into the fallout from the Edmonton Oilers moving on from Kris Knoblauch, the growing speculation surrounding Bruce Cassidy and whether Vegas is playing hardball by blocking interview requests from Edmonton and Los Angeles. We also discuss why Knoblauch may not rush back into another NHL head coaching opportunity and what the next chapter could look like for him. Out West, we break down how the Vegas Golden Knights can slow down a heavily favoured Colorado Avalanche squad in a must-watch Western Conference Final. In the East, we examine what made the Montreal Canadiens-Buffalo Sabres series so razor-close and what to expect now that Montreal faces the relentless pressure of the Carolina Hurricanes. We also touch on coaching changes in Vancouver, where Manny Malhotra has emerged as the rumoured frontrunner following the departure of Adam Foote, plus a little road-trip flavour from Raleigh as playoff hockey takes over the city. Berube, Cassidy and Babcock were names thrown into the conversation from Ryan. Shauggey then touched on Knoblauch's future in the NHL...    After Shauggey, it was time for Lt. Pizza-Baguette kennt jeder.

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers' first-round exit, what changes to expect in Edmonton, line combinations, injury updates, and more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about the Morgan Reilly rumour that came out of the DFO Rundown: Insider Edition, suggesting that Toronto might be ready to move on from their long-term d-man. Given that there have been plenty of rumours about Darnell Nurse getting traded, would it make sense to do a one-for-one swap of the two defencemen? Is that a move the Oilers should even consider?Shifting gears, the boys looked at the Kris Knoblauch timeline, which seems to suggest the Oilers were trying to have their cake and eat it too. It was almost as if they wanted to see their options before deciding on Kris Knoblauch, but with the news leaking, that option was likely taken off the table. The guys also discussed the latest rumblings that Bruce Cassidy is interested in coaching the Oilers. Does that mean he's the right fit? Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of Ask the Idiots, betting talk for our friends at bet365, and Hot and Cold Performers to look back on the week that was. The Coaching Carousel: Is Bruce Cassidy the Answer? | The Oil Stream The silence has been broken!   After a whirlwind 24 hours that sent shockwaves through the NHL and the streets of Edmonton, The Oil Stream is back to break down the massive coaching news surrounding the Edmonton Oilers.   On today's show: The Cassidy Bombshell: Reports are surfacing that the Oilers have officially set their sights on Bruce Cassidy as the successor to Kris Knoblauch. Tommy gives his unfiltered thoughts on the pursuit—is Cassidy the tactical "hired gun" this core needs to get over the hump, or is this another reactionary move? Did They Handle It Right? From the rumored rift between Knoblauch and management to the optics of a coaching change just weeks after a playoff exit, we discuss if the Oilers' front office handled this transition with class or if it was a "conundrum" of their own making. The Maple Leafs Factor: The coaching market is a game of musical chairs. What happens if the Toronto Maple Leafs jump into the fray and snag Cassidy before the Oilers can secure permission? We look at the potential fallout if Edmonton's top target ends up in the Eastern Conference. Contender Status: Does a new voice behind the bench immediately make the Oilers a Cup favorite again, or are the roster holes too deep for any coach to fix? The "McDavid Window": We discuss how this move impacts the long-term future of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. Is this the bold play required to keep the stars in town, or does it add more instability to the organization?    The Oil Stream is presented by Boston Pizza!

Bruce Cassidy to Edmonton? | The Knoblauch Rift & Oilers Chaos | 2 Guys & A Goalie   The temperature in Oil Country has officially reached a boiling point. Just weeks after a shocking first-round exit at the hands of the Anaheim Ducks, the rumors of a total organizational overhaul are no longer just whispers—they are headlines. Dusty and Gager are diving headfirst into the bombshell reports that have the hockey world in a frenzy.   On today's show: The Bruce Cassidy Pursuit: Reports from Frank Seravalli and other insiders have confirmed the Oilers have sought permission to interview former Stanley Cup winner Bruce Cassidy. We discuss the "gamesmanship" currently playing out as the Vegas Golden Knights reportedly withhold permission for their divisional rival. Is Cassidy the "hired gun" the Oilers need to finally crack the code? Where did it go wrong for Knoblauch?: Kris Knoblauch took this team to back-to-back Finals, but after an "average" 2025-26 season and a rumored rift with GM Stan Bowman, the ice has never been thinner. We break down the reports of friction between the bench and the front office regarding lineup decisions and why the "connection" in the locker room seems to have evaporated. Contender or Pretender?: Does hiring a tactical, direct coach like Cassidy suddenly make the Oilers a Cup favorite again, or is Craig Button right that no coach can fix the "glaring holes" in this roster? We debate if this is a masterstroke move or just a desperate attempt to fix a management problem with a coaching change. The Core's Reaction: How would Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl feel about another new voice behind the bench? With only 700 days left on the captain's clock, we discuss if the stars are on board with a coaching carousel or if they are looking for stability and roster upgrades instead. The "Chiarelli 2.0" Narrative: We take a hard look at Stan Bowman's tenure and ask if these aggressive coaching moves are a sign of a focused leader or a GM trying to find a scapegoat for a roster that has regressed.   2 Guys & a Goalie is presented by GS Construction!

Is the "meat grinder" in Edmonton about to claim its biggest victims yet? The 2025-26 season hasn't just ended; it has imploded, leaving the Edmonton Oilers at a crossroads that could define the franchise for the next decade. Dusty and Tommy are back to navigate the wreckage of a week that has seen superstars sound the alarm and insiders predict a total organizational overhaul.   The Firing Line: Insider Frank Seravalli has dropped a bombshell, stating it is "more likely than not" that Kris Knoblauch and his entire coaching staff are headed for the exit. We discuss whether Knoblauch is the fall guy for a roster that Connor McDavid called "average," or if a fresh voice is the only way to spark a turnaround. Bowman Under Fire: The heat isn't just on the bench. Many are asking if Stan Bowman has "messed up the trajectory" of this team in record time. With the front office also reportedly up for a "reshape and restructure," we debate if Bowman survives the month or if ownership is ready to hit the reset button on management. The Bouchard Robbery: How does a defenseman score 95 points and not even get a Norris nomination? Evan Bouchard has officially been snubbed from the finalist list (Dahlin, Makar, Werenski), and he isn't hiding his frustration, admitting the omission "stings." We dive into the "defensive narrative" that cost Bouchard a historic honour. "Concerned" & "Average": We revisit the chilling exit interviews from McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. With the core getting older and Draisaitl openly worried about the "big steps backwards," we ask: What is the actual plan to keep #97 in Edmonton past the next two seasons? Roster Post-Mortem: From the Darnell Nurse contract dilemma to the search for an elite goaltender, we look at the "addition by subtraction" moves that Seravalli and others believe are coming. Brace yourselves, Oilers fans. The "patient" offseason Stan Bowman promised might have just been replaced by a summer of absolute chaos.   Dusty and Tommy have tons to discuss, with the fellas sharing some news and notes they picked up around Oil Country...   The Oil Stream is presented by Boston Pizza!

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers' moves at the NHL Trade Deadline, previewed Friday's game against Carolina, line combinations, trade targets, and more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about Jake Walman's struggles and what it will take to get him back on his game. Given that the coaching staff has already moved him on every pairing on the back end, the options for getting him back up and running are extremely limited. As you'll hear, the boys were actually short on ideas for what Knoblauch and co can do with their newly extended d-man.Shifting gears, the guys looked at the last couple of games on the Oilers' schedule and how the results could not have been more different. Starting with Nathan MacKinnon getting tossed for running into Connor Ingram, the boys shared their take on the penalty and whether Nate should have been kicked out. From there, we looked at the loss in Dallas, and how it was an incredibly frustrating night after two of Edmonton's best games of the year kicked off the road trip. Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of Ask the Idiots, betting talk for our friends at bet365, and Hot and Cold Performers to look back on the week that was.
