Episode 2 in this serial series called: Farewell Evangelicalism is here. In this episdoe we begin to peel back to layers of evangelicalism to make sense of how it’s become the broken and malformed expression it is today. When did the wheels fall off? When did evangelicals become white nationalists? It hasn’t always been this way. To get to the ‘how' evangelicals became associated with various monkers like white nationalism, we must develop cultural context, garnering information to begin naming specific components in the movement that produce harm to the neighborhood, city, and nation, and of course to those stuck within the confines of the four church walls. The hope for this episode is to help give name to cultural moments when the evil and broken pieces in evangelicalism emerged so more folks can make connections to their own church or belief systems. We go back into time connect the dots between political movements, the use of fear to sway evangelicals, and ways evangelicals have casually sided with white supremacy to inform their beliefs. Episode 2 – Show Notes (00:00) – Introduction (00:28) – Setting the Scenes (01:35) – When evangelicals lost the plot. Do you sometimes find it hard to say you are sorry or admit when you are wrong? Humility is hard. Dr. Don Denyes opens the book of Philippians and encourages us as we strive to become more like Jesus.
What do you want to be successful at? It is something to do with your career, family, relationships or a personal goal? There are different understandings of “success.” Make no mistake about it: our society’s definition is certainly different from God’s. But which are you driving toward? This sermon looks at the direct and down-to-earth wisdom of James 4:1-10. It encourages us to consider the cardinal virtue of humility, and how God exalts those who live by humble faithfulness. It includes five practical applications that we find within the text. Mark Batterson writes: “We’re so busy climbing the ladder of success that we fail to realize it’s leaning against the wrong wall.”

The world is constantly telling us to promote ourselves, get ahead any way you can, even if you must climb over people or drag others down. Jesus exemplifies for us, and Paul challenges us that- The Way Up Is Down. Sermon from Pastor Jim Stultz on July 21, 2024

Not of This World: Daniel - "The Way Up Is Down" (Daniel 5) In our text today, we have a new king but the same story. No king is forever - even if that king is YOU. Like this king, we are often consumed with our own self-consumption. And the problem with that is we quickly lose our regard for holy things. Pride ruined King Nebuchadnezzar. Now it is about to take out King Belshazzar. King Nebuchadnezzar was humbled until he learned; then he was lifted up. Daniel was humble, but do not mistake humility for weakness. Humility is not weakness, but it is strength. The Lord rewards those who humbly lean on Him. The goal is to be people of faith who live in humility.
Humility Series Part 4- Mark 10:35-45, Jesus does not discourage pursuing or holding high positions, but defines true greatness as service and humility.
Join us this week as we start our new series about the different bags we carry. This week we're challenged by scripture about the sin of pride.

Along with helping us apply God word to the news, The Equipped Newsletter's Thann Bennett looks at Jesus and although being God, did not seek the place of power. Rather, He took the place of humility. Social media expert Chris Martin looks at our technology and its impact on us and our children spiritually and emotionally. The way up is down. In a time where self has become an idol, how do we walk in humility? How can we become a people who seek to serve others? What does genuine humility look like? Jesus was humble and gentle in heart. (Mathew 11:29) The gospel has a lot to say about humility. Join me as I share a gospel centered response to humility. Connect With Me: https://www.valtopalu.com/
We sing the same carols over and over. We hear the same Christmas story again and again. Our "Ho, ho, ho," becomes, "Ho hum"—if we're not careful. Christmas can become sort of boring. In this special episode of Live the Bible, we're taking a look at Christmas from the apostle Paul's perspective in the book of Philippians. Repeated exposure to truth is one of the beautiful things about Christmas. And our practical application of God becoming a man is anything but boring! Support the show
Continuing through chapter 4 and Jesus helps us to see what our lives as believers should begin to look like in His Kindgom.

Kingdom living is counter-cultural, oftentimes even counterintuitive but never ever counterproductive. Only the things you do for the Kingdom will last. Suffering for Christ sake is an important part of our sanctification. No way around it. The only way out is through. So, endure. I love you all dearly.
