Murder happens. Monsters ARE real. Two female true crime enthusiasts discuss this dark reality with their own unique twist.
In this episode… Tara and Jen discuss the many theories surrounding the death of JonBenét Ramsey. Her case has been an open investigation in Boulder, Colorado for nearly 25 years. If you missed (Part 1), Tara gave us a basic timeline, played and briefly discussed the 911 call as well as the nearly 3-page ransom note.In (Part 2), Jen walked us through the highlights of the investigation & autopsy, so we would have a better understanding of the crime itself, the people involved and the many things that should have been done better from the moment the police pulled up the Ramsey home. This case has so many twists, turns and theories. It's discussed and dissected year after year and brought back into the headlines without fail each Christmas season, as America sadly remembers one of its most haunting cold cases.
In this episode… Jen discusses key pieces of the investigation & autopsy regarding the brutal sexual assault and murder of 6-year old JonBenét Ramsey. If you missed (Part 1) last week, Tara gave us a basic timeline on what happened Christmas Day from the time when the police were investigating a kidnapping to the following day when her body was found and the case shifted to a homicide investigation. The 911 call is played and briefly discussed as well as the nearly 3-page ransom note. This case has so many twists, turns and theories. It's discussed and dissected year after year and brought back into the headlines without fail each Christmas season, as America sadly remembers one of its most haunting cold cases.
In this episode… we begin our 3-part coverage on the murder of JonBenét Ramsey. This week, Tara will discuss the basic timeline (what we know before diving into further investigation, alternate views & theories) from Christmas Day to the following afternoon when her body was discovered by her father, John, in the basement of their Boulder, Colorado home. We will listen to and briefly discuss the 911 call made by Patricia Ramsey, JonBenét's mother & dive into the incredibly bizarre, 3-page ransom note written on paper from the family's own home. This case has so many twists, turns and theories. It's discussed and dissected year after year and brought back into the headlines without fail each Christmas season, as America sadly remembers one of its most haunting cold cases.
In this episode… Tara uncovers a chilling, not yet resolved murder in Krakow, Poland. Oddly enough, despite the gruesome details of the crime, this story never made it to the American newspapers even though the FBI was called upon to assist in the investigation and details of the “skin suit” that was found was eerily reminiscent of Silence of the Lambs. This week we discuss the heart-breaking case of Katarzyna Zowada, a 23-year old college student who was tortured and skinned like an animal and then dumped in the Vistula River. This poor, sweet, troubled girl met her horrifying end during the winter of 1999. We're going to discuss what happened between the discovery of her remains and the trial that has yet to take place for her murder, though the main suspect has been in prison for nearly 5 years.
In this episode of The Wicked Ones Podcast… It's now Jen's turn for a Hometown murder story. She happened to choose one that, regardless of proximity to the crime, many of us remember seeing the horrific story unfold on the news. This week, Jen walks us through the Brown's Chicken massacre that took place in Palatine, IL back in January of 1993. Seven people tragically lost their lives in one of the most gruesome crimes committed in the Chicagoland area. Despite the sheer number of police officers assigned to the case and the overwhelming amount of tips called in, it went cold quickly. It would take nearly a decade and several advancements in DNA technology for the victim's families to finally see the killers behind bars.
In this episode of The Wicked Ones Podcast… Tara takes us back to her hometown of LaPorte, Indiana to the site of a very well known “Murder Farm” once owned by Hell's Belle herself. Belle Gunness is arguably one of history's most notorious female serial killers. Her story is one of greed, murder and manipulation. It also happens to have a surprise twist that may leave you guessing. Did she die a slow, painful death in the end or did she get away with it?
In this episode… We close out spooky season with our final haunted, paranormal, ghost-themed story for the month of October & Jen's pick does not disappoint! If there was ever a place that can go on record as being truly haunted…we would put our money on the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. The stories, spirits and tragedies that haunt these walls are far too many to recount in one episode, but the few that we do explore are cringeworthy to say the least & may even give you CHILLS! ________________If you live near or have ever visited, please head over to our website and find the CONTACT US page. In this episode of The Wicked Ones Podcast… Tara takes us across the pond to a creepy, unsettling site in Dumbarton, Scotland know to the locals as “The Bridge of Death” or “Dog Suicide Bridge.” You read that right. There is an actual bridge that for some yet unknown reason, dogs are compelled to run and leap over the side…to the jagged rocks some 50 feet below. The bridge and the surrounding area are actual quite lovely, as the bridge was designed in the late 1800's, is beautifully ornate and surrounded by lush greenery. They say this phenomenon, when it happens, will be on a clear, sunny day, which tend to be rare in this western region of Scotland. Many have thoroughly investigated and have tried to solve the mystery, but to this day, the bridge's deadly pull defies all logic. Listen in as Tara covers the many theories as well as a brief overview of the Congelier Manor & it's haunting legend. If nothing else, you'll have a few new things to share around the campfires & bonfires this Halloween.
In this episode… We discuss the incredibly controversial, personalized horror experience that is…Mckamey Manor. Think, Fear Factor meets horror movie bootcamp all wrapped up into a single, terror-filled experience. That's even putting it mildly, yet thousands of people from all over the world sign up to take “the tour” and see how long they can last. For some, it satisfies their inner adrenaline junkie and for others, they find that they may have bitten off more than they can chew, literally! There are many requirements you have to meet before you can even enter, including a full physical and Dr's note. You'll also have to sign a 40 page waiver that can take a minimum of 2 hours to plow through as you initial next to each insane, grotesquely horrifying thing they could possibly dream up to put you through. Think you have what it takes to conquer McKamey Manor? To date…no one ever has. ______________________Listen in and let us know your thoughts. Have you personally experienced the Manor and survived to tell about it? We'd LOVE to hear about your experience. Head over to the CONTACT US page on our website and tell us all about it!
In this episode of The Wicked Ones Podcast… Jen brings us another great story for spooky season as she dives into the curses & hauntings of Lake Lanier. Figuratively speaking of course, because there's NO WAY she's ever going near this body of water! She shares with us several unsettling facts about the man made lake, along with the legends, unexplained accidents, & creepy tales of ghosts that haunt Lake Lanier to this day. Don't believe us…ask the locals! To them, the spirits that reside here are very real and witnessed often. Located in Northern Georgia, Lake Lanier is as gorgeous as it is terrifying. Week after week, this cursed lake makes headlines; delivering news of injuries, deaths, tragic accidents, suicides, and all too often, missing bodies of people or their pets that have yet to be recovered. It's as if they just…disappeared. Don't even get us started on the catfish. Monstrous fish the size of vehicles? Say what?!?! Listen in and let us know: Would YOU vacation at Lake Lanier? Millions of people do every single year. Some won't go near the water, while others dare tragedy to strike.
In this episode of The Wicked Ones Podcast… Tara kicks of spooky season by diving into the haunted past of The Congress Plaza Hotel in Chicago. Not that we're surprised, but it's been named the #1 most haunted place in all of Illinois. Tara covers the hotel's architectural history as well as the most notorious stories that have been passed down for decades by the staff & the guests who have experienced the ghosts that continue to haunt the massive structure to this day. Stick around until the end…because as guests of this hotel with their families back in 2019, Jen & Tara have their own terrifying story to share from their weekend stay…and it's just as noteworthy as the ones that have been documented!
The Wicked Ones Podcast host, Jen, covers the heart breaking hazing death of Timothy Piazza. Tim was a sophomore at Penn State when he pledged Beta Theta Pi, a fraternity that was supposed to be alcohol free since its suspension in 2009. The pledges showed up for their initiation obstacle course called, “The Gauntlet.” Yes, it's as awful as it sounds and we're honestly not sure how anyone could survive.82 Minutes. 18 alcoholic drinks. Multiple Falls. Fractured Skull. Lacerated spleen. Internal bleeding.12 hours before a fraternity “brother” would call 911, still not revealing the truth behind Piazza's condition.Listen in this week as we bring awareness to end hazing and the abuse suffered by students as they search for belonging and acceptance among their peers.RIP Timothy Piazza
In this episode…The Wicked Ones Podcast host Tara, deep dives into rush week…but what started out as a search for sorority and greek life stories to share as a warning & possibly a helpful safety tip or two to keep your back pocket for all the shiny new pledges out there, ended up becoming a conversation about domestic terrorism. Did NOT see that one coming. We also learned a term many of you will also be hearing for the first time: INCELISM. An INCEL is a person who identifies as being involuntarily celibate. Well…ok, sure! We all know there are people out there that have zero game and a relatively tough time talking to members of the opposite sex…but why should this pose as a threat? Tara follows several different stories, connecting the dots from an internet sub-culture of sexually frustrated men to an entire ideology that promotes hatred toward not only women, but also toward men & women who appear to have active sex lives. You may be just as surprised to learn that several heart-breaking stories in the news of active shooters, a vehicular ramming attack, and a few other recent cases were all carried out by men who called themselves INCELS. They didn't even know their victims. Elliot Roger went on a rampage back in 2014 in his college town of Isla Vista. It was his so-called “Day of Retribution” against all the beautiful women who rejected him. With the plethora of information left behind…including YouTube videos, a diary, and a 137 page manifesto, this killer left society with so much to unpack…but still, more questions than answers.

The Wicked Ones Podcast host Jen, once again, takes us back to the 80's and reminds us of a scandal that rocked the music industry back when we were just kids. Interestingly enough, she also manages to bring us full circle to present day, as we've discovered that some of those 80's fashion trends we thought were dead & gone have made a fierce comeback. Let's just say…not everyone's excited about it, okay? Like many of you, we remembered Milli Vanilli for their rise to fame, the hit singles that topped the charts, the MTV videos with their enviable dance moves, and sadly, the scandal that would be the end of the group's musical career. What we couldn't tell you back then, was how it all went down and why. Rob and Fab stole many hearts with “Girl you know it's true” and “Blame it on the Rain” to name a few of their hit songs, but once their secret became public, they were immediately canceled. No-one seemed to care about their story. The music industry, the fans…everyone turned their back on the famous duo. This week, we may not be talking about murder, but as Jen examines the scandal surrounding Milli Vanilli and helps us take a closer look at the back stories of these two very talented young men, it might just be a well-timed reminder that #cancelculture can have a serious impact on people's lives and shouldn't be doled out so callously…or casually.
The Wicked Ones Podcast host, Tara, goes rogue again and decides to put a twist on the musician theme for the month and tells us a few stories of would-be-murders that fortunately, never came to fruition. This week, the girls discuss the insane story behind the foiled attempt on not only Justin Bieber's life…but the pop star's family jewels! We're still cringing!!Victoria Beckham, AKA, Posh Spice, had her fair share of run-ins as well with death threats towards her and her family and managed to endure a possible attempt on her life during a high profile performance. George Harrison, well-known guitarist for The Beatles, had a terrifying experience as well that not only involved a garden statue and 3am break-in…but also very serious accusations of being a witch who possessed people.___Guys…you just can't make this stuff up. Those conspiracy theories about James Dean and Marylin Monroe faking their own deaths to flee Hollywood in order to live normal lives somewhere else are starting to make way too much sense. We may have to do a conspiracy theory episode soon. Don't be afraid to send in your suggestions! We love hearing from you all!
The Wicked Ones Podcast host, Jen picks up where she left us hanging...waiting for answers and hoping for justice. We know what happened, the circumstances of the crime, along with the suspects in question. This week, we move on to the investigation itself, the trial and ultimately, a very shaky conclusion that, right or wrong… doesn't quite sit right. There are recent updates that pertain to the two inmates who were convicted of this crime as well. If you haven't listened in to Part 1 yet, we highly recommend catching up. Here is the synopsis for Episode 36 (Part 1 - The Murder of James Jordan) below:Jen takes us back to the early 1990's with her athlete story this week and we couldn't help but get a little nostalgic. The early 90's was especially exciting for those of us who were Chicago Bulls fans as they were racking up championship after championship. Even if you weren't big into basketball or the NBA growing up, you knew who Michael Jordan was. Everyone wanted to “Be Like Mike.” Kids across America were sporting Air Jordans and eating Wheaties for breakfast. It was 1993…the year of the (1st) 3-peat for the Chicago Bulls. It was sure to have been one of the greatest highlights of Jordan's career. Sadly, just a few short weeks later…he would receive the heartbreaking news that his father, James Jordan had been murdered.James was a wonderful, devoted father. He was a businessman who would travel the country to watch his son work his magic on the court from his time at the University of North Carolina to his career in the NBA. James, himself, was quite an athlete, as he had gone semi-pro in baseball back in his heyday. Those close to James spoke highly of his character. He may have been the proud father of an iconic legend in the world of basketball and beyond…but he was humble and grounded, remaining true to his roots and his family. Unfortunately, James Jordan's tragic murder still remains shrouded in mystery. What really happened to James on that fateful day he decided to pull over and rest on the side of the Highway? Why was this man who was so loved by friends and family not reported as a missing person for 3 whole weeks?!

Will it bring answers and closure or will it bring about even more perplexing questions?
The Wicked Ones Podcast hosts… Tara & Jen, discuss the murder of 21 year-old track star, Lauren McCluskey. Lauren was a beautiful, intelligent, talented track & field athlete with a heart of gold. She studied & trained hard at the University of Utah and was looking forward to graduation. It was during this time, Lauren met a man named Sean. He seemed sweet, caring and fun…at first. Let's take a moment and put ourselves into Lauren's shoes…so to speak. Imagine being blindsided one day, finding out that the man you are currently dating is NOT who he says he is. Not. Even. Close. You find out the man you let into your home, your friend circle and your heart, turned out to be the worst kind of monster imaginable. Suddenly, you're thrown into a living nightmare you don't deserve and certainly never asked for. You're terrified at every turn.If you're like Lauren, you would reach out to the police immediately, which she did, multiple times along with her Mom as well, over the next several days. They would report their fears, share threatening texts, important offender background information and even intimate, private details with the authorities. After all, these are the trusted officers who have sworn to serve & protect the students of the U, right? What if…in this insane new reality you've found yourself in…no one listened or took you seriously? Your repeated cries for help seemed to fall upon deaf ears & no matter how hard you tried, you couldn't quite cut through the red tape? What if…in a heartbreakingly, unnecessary twist…the monster in this nightmare wins? ____Decide for yourself…as we have quite a bit of back and forth in this case about the gray areas…what the policies and procedures allow for, etc… One thing we can agree on, however, is that this is NOT how how Lauren's story should have ended. (Stay tuned for a small update as well at the beginning of Episode 36!)
The Wicked Ones Podcast Hosts… take us back to the 80's when Skateboarding was all the rage. Think: Vision, Santa Cruz, Powell, all the popular brands in skate culture at the time along with home-made plywood ramps, skate parks & rebel attitudes. It was during this time when Mark Rogowski, better known to fans & fellow boarders as “Gator,” was considered one of the most iconic vertical skaters of his time & rose quickly to fame and fortune between competitions and sponsorships. Hard partying ways however, would catch up to Gator and after a near-death experience, his life would start a downward spiral that would ultimately lead him down a dark path of destruction. In a twisted, tragic turn of events, Gator would commit one of the most heinous crimes we've talked about to date. What happened and where did it all go wrong for the boy that seemed to “have it all?”
In this episode The Wicked Ones Podcast Hosts…Tara & Jen discuss the bizarre cover-up & murder of Melissa James. Her story will forever be intertwined with that of power couple, Craig Titus and Kelly Ryan, who were well known in the fitness & bodybuilding world at one time. They also seemed to enjoy the dangerous side of Sin City, taking up a lifestyle of sex, drugs and partying. In October of 2005, when a 911 call comes in reporting a car fire in the desert, it doesn't sound all that unusual to the fire chief heading out to the scene. Car fires happen often enough out west, but when a body is found in the trunk of a high end Jaguar, that's when things really start to heat up…
The Wicked Ones Podcast Hosts…Jen & Tara discuss the murder of Connie Navarro and sadly, once again, find themselves talking about a domestic violence homicide.Connie was a gorgeous, blonde haired beauty who modeled occasionally and worked on a few of the game shows we remember watching as kids who grew up in the 80's.Dave Navarro, who is well known as the guitarist for Jane's Addiction, among many other creative undertakings, is Connie's son. Dave was only 15 when his mother was murdered and in a documentary he created in 2015, he talks about how losing her shaped every decision he ever made growing up…both good and bad. When we say bad…we're talking about a pretty dark spiral into a world of drugs & depression. He's very clear, however, that he does NOT blame his addiction on her murder, but rather, it gave him an excuse to continue down that dangerous road.It was Dave's hope that by telling his story from the point of view of a child who was left behind as a victim of domestic violence, he could bring about a different kind of awareness in this unique way. Statistics show that approximately 3 women A DAY are killed in domestic violence homicides, BUT we rarely hear from the point of view of the children who's lives continue to be deeply impacted by their great loss. We're big fans of Dave and his advocacy work on domestic violence only makes us love him more. He shared the story of his Mother's murder and it's personal impact on his life as a cautionary tale to help people recognize the signs of domestic violence before things escalate. Here at The Wicked Ones Podcast, we're hoping to do the same.________Join the Movement & Take a Stand Against DV: #putanailinitFrom their Website: One Small Statement Makes a Big DifferenceThe idea is simple: by painting your ring fingernail purple, you are showing the world your vow to help spread awareness of domestic violence and displaying your support for Safe Horizon, the country's largest organization helping victims of domestic violence get the crucial help they need in their darkest moments.
The Wicked Ones Podcast gets SPOOKY this week and brings to light a few haunting stories that make us wonder about the existence of evil in this world…and just what forms it might take.Tara decided to put a spin on her quest for Hollywood true crime and instead, dives into some of the most mysterious and terrifying tales she stumbled upon while researching Hollywood's haunted past.Tara talks creepy coincidences and the untimely deaths of the cast & crew behind the making of the possibly “cursed” movie, The Omen. There are way too many strange occurrences surrounding this film to pass off as coincidence and we think you might agree! She also braves the world of inanimate objects, AKA “trinkets”, that may or may not be possessed and opens up about her fear of dolls.James Dean's car, “The Little Bastard” was another story that Tara had always been fascinated to learn more about as well. The details of this car & the bizarre deaths, injuries and destruction that seemed to follow it around are way too hard to shake…let alone explain. We're not sure if you'll sleep tonight, but for all of our listeners out there who are into these types of creepy, unsolved mysteries, we thought we'd bring you a little something different this time around. OH, and If you catch the movie recommendation in the intro, give us a shout out and let us know your thoughts. I mean, who doesn't love Vince Vaughn and a good horror/comedy, right?
The Wicked Ones Podcast hosts have slid right back into the dark side of true crime this week after taking a slight break to discuss a few white collar cases. Jen does her best to share the story of Chris Benoit, knowing full well that the wrestling community and it's fans are still heavily divided to this day. Jen gives us all a glimpse into the circumstances surrounding the tragic events that unfolded at the Benoit residence back in 2007. For those of you who remember watching the news coverage at the time, or who are die hard wrestling fans who have heard bits and pieces of the story being told over the past decade from various sources, listen in. You may be surprised by some of the things Jen uncovered during her research. On a lighter note, she also fesses up to her love of wrestling and reminisces about date nights watching Monday Night RAW. That was an interesting twist Tara did NOT see coming, but has to admit that throughout the conversation this week, she has certainly developed a greater appreciation for what these athletes/entertainers have to go through to be successful in their craft.
The Wicked Ones Podcast Hosts… Tara & Jen take us back to 2008/2009 when reality TV was thriving, Facebook had only been around a few years, Instagram had not been created yet…but TMZ made sure to keep us all posted on the latest celeb gossip and Hollywood scandals. It was during this time, a group of reality star & designer fashion obsessed teens out in California ended up becoming the 1st & most successful ring of burglars in Hollywood history.Success does not equal the kind of fame & fortune most people are looking for in this particular case…but it does make for an interesting discussion…& discuss we do! Trigger warning: LOTS of chit chat & side notes in this episode! Hey, don't say we didn't warn you. We know some of our true crime fans out there like a straightforward story with very little banter & typically we keep it to a minimum even when giving our 2 cents…just not this time. ;) However, it's great news for those of you who love learning more about us here at The Wicked Ones Pod & bless you for finding our sarcasm & banter endearing. If that's the case, this one might be your favorite episode yet! We just couldn't help ourselves. Celeb talk + a long hiatus from recording = a true coffee table convo full of sideways remarks. Hopefully you are entertained…after all, isn't that one of the goals here? XO - T&J
The Wicked Ones Podcast hosts… Jen & Tara take a break from chatting murder & death on the pod and dive into a white collar crime instead this week. Listen in as Jen tells the very bizarre story of Marcus Schrenker. Marcus was once the president of a wealth management company living a lavish lifestyle with his family in Geist, Indiana. He was living the high life…but on who's dime? Marcus eventually found himself in serious trouble with the law after making some incredibly poor choices both personally & professionally. His scheming ways were soon exposed and he was not only facing prison time, but owed millions of dollars & had betrayed the trust of everyone closest to him.Well…what is one to do when finding oneself in such a pickle? You fake your own death of course…
The Wicked Ones Podcast hosts, Tara & Jen discuss the heartbreaking, cold-blooded murder of 6 family members that had set out for a 2 week camping trip to Canada's Wells Gray Park in 1982. It would be the first time in Canadian history that the 2nd degree murder charge would be handed out when David William Shearing was sentenced. Despite incredible, over the top investigative efforts by the RCMP to find the killer and put him behind bars, the REAL motive & fate of the 2 young girls wouldn't be known until much later.David William Shearing, AKA David Ennis, as he has now changed his last name to take on his Mother's maiden name, is once again up for parole this year in July of 2021. We urge you to listen in to this week's episode and to consider signing the petition on Change.Org yourself, to help the Bentley & Johnson family and friends keep this monster behind bars.Link : SIGN THE PETITION TO KEEP DAVID BEHIND BARS HERE
The Wicked Ones Podcast hosts, Tara & Jen, dive into the dark underworld of train hopping and the death of a sweet, self-less college kid whose passion to see the world, & his trust in others would sadly, lead to his demise. Investigators had next to nothing to go on. They had skeletal remains of a John Doe buried near a creek, close to a train yard. This case could have easily gone cold from day one. It was perseverance and the collaboration between all law-enforcement parties involved that would help determine identity, cause of death and eventually apprehend those responsible for this horrific, senseless murder. This story not only to gives the victim and his family a voice…but it is also a cautionary tale for anyone with romantic notions about riding the rails.
In (part 2) of our Hurricane Love episode… Jen pieces together the 2nd half of the very tragic, yet very complex love story of Zack Bowen & Addie Hall. Many will remember their story as one that ended in a murder/suicide that not only shocked the city of New Orleans, but the entire nation at the time. As Jen concludes this dark tale, you'll find that this one runs much deeper than the sensationalized headlines alluded to. As we mentioned in Part 1 - THE END was just the beginning…
The Wicked Ones Podcast hosts, Jen & Tara, discuss one of the more tragic love stories of our time. You may think you know the story of Zack Bowen & Addie Hall, garnering your knowledge from the shocking headlines that rocked the country after Hurricane Katrina. Often times, however, we find that there's so much more to a person or a story than what the media portrays. The sensationalized, gruesome details that concluded Zack & Addie's twisted & tragic love story can't be the whole story. The truth is…THE END was just the beginning.
What would you do if you suddenly found yourself in a makeshift grave, in the woods…trapped, where no-one could hear you?Listen in as The Wicked Ones Podcast hosts Tara & Jen, discuss the terrifying story of what Michelina Lewandowska had to endure.
The Wicked Ones Podcast hosts, Jen & Tara discuss a story this week that may leave some of you wondering what really happened the day that newlywed, Tina Watson, drowned while scuba diving on her honeymoon. Was it truly an accident caused by negligence and inexperience or was it murder? We'll let you decide if the husband “did it” or not. However, we have a feeling that once you hear about the many shameful & wildly inappropriate actions taken by Gabe Watson throughout this story, it will leave you with a very bad taste in your mouth.Listen in and decide where you stand. If you're up for it, write in and tell us! We'd love to hear your thoughts too.
The Wicked Ones Podcast Hosts Tara & Jen discuss the heartbreaking story of 16 year old Emma Jane Walker. Emma was a bright, kind, beautiful girl with her whole life ahead of her. A life that was tragically cut short in a way that no one saw coming. Was it a deadly, misguided stunt planned by her football player ex-boyfriend to try and win her back… or was it cold blooded murder? Teen dating violence is an issue that deserves attention. 1 in every 5 high school students report being physically and/or sexually abused by a dating partner. (According to the Journal of the American Medical Assoc.). 1 in 3 girls in the U.S. is a victim of dating violence…a figure that far exceeds rates of other types of youth violence.
The Wicked Ones Podcast hosts, Jen and Tara discuss the story of Jen Spry. Spry was only 8 years old when she became the victim of human trafficking, but wouldn't realize it for decades. Human trafficking isn't all the same. Listen in and learn, we sure did.- “No one ever came looking, because I never went missing.” - Jen Spry
The Wicked Ones Hosts, Tara & Jen dive into the world of self help & discover that sometimes there's a fine line between following a group that will benefit your life and waking up one day to discover that you might be in a cult. Unfortunately, many highly intelligent, hard working, people with an entrepreneurial spirit and motivated drive in life to continuously better themselves, sometimes find that the leaders in the self help industry aren't always what they seem.In this story…we are high-lighting a fallen self-help guru and those who put their faith in a man that, sadly, didn't seem to have their best interest at heart. That individual is James Arthur Ray…and this is the story of the “Spiritual Warrior” retreat he lead in Sedona, AZ that had a very tragic ending when 3 people lost their lives in his makeshift sweat lodge.
The Wicked Ones Podcast hosts Jen & Tara discuss a side of Bikram Yoga that most may not know about…and it's not pretty. The practice of Bikram yoga itself may have genuinely changed lives and here in the U.S. it certainly became an intense study among many in the fitness realm…almost cult-like in it's practices. So who was this guy that traveled from India to L.A. & introduced to the world this very strict, regimented, incredibly HOT…both socially & literally form of yoga? Well…he's a douche. We said it…you read that right…and we mean it.We may not be talking murder this week, but the things this disgusting predator was able to get away with, being in this immense position of power will haunt you just the same. The women he violated and took advantage of…their stories deserve to be heard.
