On the fifth day of Lori Vallow Daybell's trial, Zulema Pastenes, who was briefly married to Vallow's brother, Alex Cox, provided critical testimony. Pastenes detailed the group's apocalyptic beliefs, including the concept of individuals being possessed by dark spirits, rendering them "zombies." She testified that Vallow and Chad Daybell taught that such individuals needed to be "released" to fulfill a divine plan. Pastenes also recounted that Vallow claimed to receive visions and revelations, which guided their actions and reinforced their radical beliefs.Pastenes further testified about her brief marriage to Alex Cox, who was deeply involved in Vallow and Daybell's inner circle. Lori Vallow's relationship with her brother, Alex Cox, was notably unusual and deeply intertwined with the events leading up to the murders of her children, Tylee Ryan and JJ Vallow, as well as the killing of her fourth husband, Charles Vallow. Described as intensely loyal to Lori, Alex appeared to see himself as her protector, often acting as her enforcer in moments of conflict. He shot and killed Charles Vallow in July 2019, claiming self-defense, despite evidence suggesting premeditation. He was also believed to have played a direct role in the deaths of Tylee and JJ, with cell phone records placing him near the burial sites on Chad Daybell's property around the time of their disappearances. Additionally, Alex married Zulema Pastenes, a close associate of Lori and Chad, in what many believe was a rushed, suspicious union orchestrated for legal protection. His unwavering commitment to Lori and his apparent willingness to eliminate perceived threats have led many to speculate that he was more than just a devoted brother—he was an active participant in a series of calculated crimes. The official narrative surrounding Alex Cox's sudden death on December 12, 2019, has been met with significant skepticism. Authorities ruled his death as natural, attributing it to bilateral pulmonary thromboembolism (blood clots in the lungs), but the timing and circumstances raise questions. Alex had been a central figure in the deaths surrounding Lori and Chad, yet he conveniently died just days after Tammy Daybell's body was exhumed for investigation. His widow, Zulema Pastenes, claimed he made ominous remarks in his final days, hinting that “he knew he was going to die soon.” Additionally, his sudden health decline does not align with any known history of severe medical issues. Given the growing legal scrutiny on Lori and Chad, many speculate whether Alex's death was truly natural or if he was silenced to protect others involved. Some theorists even suggest poisoning or an assisted overdose—a convenient way to eliminate a key player in an unraveling criminal conspiracy.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.com

The jury in the Chad Daybell murder trial has begun deliberations after hearing closing arguments and receiving detailed instructions on the charges. Daybell faces accusations of conspiracy to commit murder and grand theft by deception in connection with the deaths of Tylee Ryan, JJ Vallow, and Tammy Daybell. Prosecutors Lindsey Blake and Rob Wood presented a comprehensive rebuttal closing argument, emphasizing Daybell's pivotal role in a conspiracy that led to the tragic deaths. Blake highlighted text messages between Daybell and Lori Vallow, revealing their belief in "zombies" and "death percentages," concepts they allegedly used to justify the killings.  "Chad says who's dark, Chad says death percentages, and three bodies are located on his property. Three obstacles that were in their way," Blake stated, referencing a clip of Daybell in the back seat of a police car saying, "I'm not coming back." The prosecution played several recordings, including a patriarchal blessing Daybell gave to Alex Cox, Lori Vallow's brother. Blake emphasized the message, "Alex had already helped him in ways they could never repay." The prosecution also showed a text message exchange where Chad referred to relatives as "obstacles."  Defense attorney John Prior countered, arguing that Chad Daybell's actions and beliefs were taken out of context. Prior insisted that Daybell's religious beliefs did not equate to a criminal conspiracy. "It can't be an agreement that we have consistent religious beliefs," Prior said, stressing that there was no direct evidence linking Daybell to the physical act of murder. Prior also focused on the lack of DNA evidence on the tools used to bury Tylee and JJ and questioned the credibility of key witnesses, including Melanie Gibb and Zulema Pastenes. He argued that the investigation was flawed and relied too heavily on speculative and circumstantial evidence.  Judge Steven Boyce provided the jury with 41 instructions, including definitions of conspiracy, aiding and abetting, and reasonable doubt. He reminded jurors that the state must prove every element of the charges beyond a reasonable doubt. "The state has to prove that Chad Daybell, with Lori Vallow, Alex Cox, or other co-conspirators, entered into some sort of an agreement to kill the children and to kill Tammy Daybell," Boyce instructed. The jury was sequestered for deliberations, ensuring they remain isolated from outside influences. Five alternates were also randomly selected and sworn in, ready to step in if needed. "If there is reasonable doubt, and there is reasonable doubt, you must return a verdict of not guilty," Prior concluded in his closing argument. As the jury deliberates, the community awaits the outcome of this high-profile case that has captivated national attention. The fate of Chad Daybell now rests in the hands of the jurors, who must sift through weeks of testimony and evidence to reach their verdict. Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? In this episode of 'Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski,' Jennifer Coffindaffer, a retired FBI special agent, discusses the ongoing trial of Chad Daybell, highlighting the striking aspects of the trial, including the return of witnesses from the Lori Vallow case and their continued bizarre testimonies. The episode delves into the alleged supernatural beliefs and manipulations by Chad Daybell, such as convincing followers of his ability to predict deaths and reincarnations, and Zulema Pastenes' claimed weather-controlling powers. Coffindaffer criticizes the defense's lack of substantial evidence and the concerning courtroom procedures that may lead to future appeals. The discussion emphasizes the unusual nature of the case, involving claims of magical powers and reincarnation used to justify actions within a dangerous cult-like context. Coffindaffer also expresses concerns over the trial's handling and the potential implications for an appeal due to the way witnesses are allowed to provide extended narratives without direct questioning. Main Points of the Conversation - The ongoing Chad Daybell trial revisits many elements from Lori Vallow's trial, including bizarre testimonies about supernatural powers. - Witness Zulema Pastenes testified about her past belief in her ability to control the weather and Chad's manipulative prophecies regarding the deaths of J.J. Vallow and others. - Concerns about the lack of a solid defense for Chad Daybell and the potential for an appeal based on courtroom procedural issues. - Discussions about the use of religious and supernatural claims to justify criminal actions, characterizing Chad and Lori as using these as a facade for their crimes. - Observations on the potential long-term implications of the trial and the possibility of retrial due to issues like inadequate counsel and witness handling in court. #ChadDaybell #JenniferCoffindaffer #TonyBrueski #HiddenKillersPodcast #ZulemaPastenes #CultCrimes #MagicalPowers Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? In the latest episode of 'Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski,' former Felony Prosecutor and attorney Eric Faddis discusses new developments in the Chad Daybell trial. The focus shifts increasingly toward Chad's influence and control over the events, contradicting earlier beliefs that Lori Vallow was the primary instigator. Testimony from Zulema Pastenes highlighted the ongoing belief in supernatural powers, such as controlling the weather, which adds complexity to the case against Daybell. The narrative emerging from the trial paints a picture of Chad as a central figure in promoting dangerous beliefs, which were used to manipulate those around him, including justifications for horrific actions like the foretold deaths of children. Key points from the conversation: - The evolving narrative places Chad Daybell more centrally in the manipulation and control within his and Lori's circle. - Zulema Pastenes's testimony about believing in weather control reflects the deep-seated beliefs among Daybell's followers. - Testimonies suggest that Chad might have been the initiator of many of the spiritual beliefs previously attributed to Lori. - The discussion also touched on the potential impact of these testimonies on the defense strategies and the overall direction of the trial. - Faddis discusses the challenges Chad Daybell would face if he decides to testify, given the overwhelming evidence and testimonies against him. - The conversation also reflects on the broader implications of belief and manipulation in religious or spiritual communities. #ChadDaybell #LoriVallow #ZulemaPastenes #EricFaddis #HiddenKillersWithTonyBrueski #CultBeliefs #LegalAnalysis Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? The episode delves into the alleged supernatural beliefs and manipulations by Chad Daybell, such as convincing followers of his ability to predict deaths and reincarnations, and Zulema Pastenes' claimed weather-controlling powers. Coffindaffer criticizes the defense's lack of substantial evidence and the concerning courtroom procedures that may lead to future appeals. The discussion emphasizes the unusual nature of the case, involving claims of magical powers and reincarnation used to justify actions within a dangerous cult-like context. Chad Daybell and Lori Vallow's Complex Spiritual Beliefs Lead to Tragic Outcomes in High-Profile Legal Drama

In a courtroom filled with tense anticipation, witness Zulema Pastenes provided a deep dive into the convoluted and mystical world shared by Chad Daybell and Lori Vallow, a couple at the center of a high-profile legal battle that has captivated the nation. According to Pastenes, Daybell and Vallow believed they had been married in multiple past lives and were destined to reunite in this one to complete a spiritual mission. This mission, according to their beliefs, involved gathering the 144,000 souls mentioned in the Doctrine and Covenants 77:11 and casting out dark spirits, including one named "Ned" who they believed had possessed Lori's then-husband, Charles Vallow.  "Chad told Lori that they were the angels who were supposed to gather the 144,000," Zulema recounted, shedding light on the depth of their shared delusions.  Their actions based on these beliefs culminated tragically. Charles Vallow was shot by Lori's brother, Alex Cox, who was under the impression, fueled by Lori and Chad, that Charles was a "zombie" possessed by a dark spirit.   The narrative shared by Zulema in court highlighted several gatherings, including a notable event where the group attempted to cast out dark spirits from Charles Vallow, who was not physically present. "Lori was in constant communication with Chad, who was directing the casting," Zulema added, indicating the level of control and influence Chad maintained over the group's activities. The relationship between Chad and Lori was not only spiritual but also physically intimate, with Zulema describing scenes of them being affectionate in ways typical of a couple, despite both being married to others at the time. "They held hands, hugged, and Chad even had a portal in his home where he claimed to receive instructions from the spirit world," she explained. This portal supposedly communicated not only spiritual messages but also a foretelling of death, specifically regarding Chad's then-wife, Tammy Daybell, whom Chad claimed would die prematurely—a prophecy that disturbingly came true.  The courtroom also heard about the so-called "Seven Gathers," a group that included Zulema and other women close to Lori, who performed these castings under Lori's guidance. The influence Chad and Lori wielded, wrapped in a veneer of spiritual urgency, often left the group turning to Lori for answers which she claimed were provided by Chad. As the trial progresses, the bizarre and tragic details continue to unfold, painting a picture of two people deeply entwined in a dangerous narrative of spiritual missions and predestined roles that have led to real-world consequences, including murder and deceit. This case not only challenges the boundaries of criminal law but also delves into the psychological impacts of spiritual delusions on behavior and the fatal outcomes they can precipitate. Alex Cox was the brother of Lori Vallow, an American woman who gained national attention due to her involvement in several high-profile criminal cases. Alex Cox was born on October 6, 1968, and he passed away on December 12, 2019, under mysterious circumstances.Alex Cox's connection to Lori Vallow became prominent during the investigation into the disappearance of Lori's two children, Joshua "JJ" Vallow and Tylee Ryan, in September 2019. At the time, Lori Vallow was married to her fourth husband, Charles Vallow, who was shot and killed by her brother, Alex Cox, claiming self-defense.This incident was initially considered a justifiable homicide, and no charges were filed against Cox.In the subsequent months, as the search for the missing children continued, Cox's involvement raised suspicions. It was later revealed that in the weeks following the children's disappearance, Alex Cox had married Zulema Pastenes, who was also involved in a religious group led by Lori Vallow. This group held unorthodox beliefs and had ties to the doomsday and cult-like ideology of Chad Daybell. In June 2020, the remains of Joshua "JJ" Vallow and Tylee Ryan were discovered buried on the property of Chad Daybell, who had married Lori Vallow shortly after the death of their spouses. The investigation took a significant turn, and Lori Vallow and Chad Daybell were arrested and charged with several crimes, including conspiracy to commit murder. However, before any trial could take place, Alex Cox passed away. His death was initially reported as being due to natural causes, but due to the suspicious circumstances surrounding the case, further scrutiny was placed on his role in the children's deaths. The exact cause of Alex Cox's death is still under investigation as of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021.Overall, Alex Cox's involvement in the complex and tragic case surrounding the disappearance and deaths of JJ Vallow and Tylee Ryan, along with his connection to his sister Lori Vallow and her subsequent arrest, has raised numerous questions and drawn significant attention from the media and the public. In this episode, we take a closer look at Alex Cox and what his role was in conspiracy that saw three people murdered.(commercial at 8:43)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Lori Vallow and Chad Daybell's alleged murder accomplice Alex Cox will never face justice | The IndependentThis show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/5003294/advertisement

Renegade Mormons Lori Vallow Daybell and Chad Daybell developed their own doomsday cult, telling their small circle of followers that demons had turned their family members into "zombies" or "vampires" who needed to be killed. On May 14, 2023, an Idaho jury found Daybell guilty on all charges, for her role in the deaths of her two children and her husband's first wife. Chad Daybell will be tried separately next year. On Day 5 of the Vallow Daybell trial, Zulema Pastenes, the widow of Lori's brother Alex Cox, took the stand. She explained Lori 's beliefs about casting out evil spirits, and how she was convinced various people--including her two children--had been 'possessed' and 'attacked' by demons.

Bombshell testimony from two former friends of Lori Vallow Daybell: Vallow Daybell 's former sister-in-law describes to the court how Vallow Daybell organized a "casting" for her estranged husband, Charles Vallow. Lori said Charles was possessed by a demon. Zulema Pastenes, the widow of Vallow Daybell's brother, Alex Cox, also said that while discussing what to do if the casting didn't work, Vallow Daybell jokingly told her she “could always put some pills in his water.”   Melanie Gibb testified that Vallow Daybell asked her to lie to police for her and refused to explain why. Gibb says Vallow Daybell also would not tell her where JJ and Tylee were. All Vallow Daybell would say is the children were safe.  Joining Nancy Grace Today: Dale Carson- High-profile Criminal Defense Attorney (Jacksonville), Former FBI Agent & Former Police Officer (Miami-Dade County); Author: "Arrest-Proof Yourself; Twitter: @DaleCarsonLaw  Fil Waters- Former Homicide Detective for Houston police department; President & CEO of Kindred Spirits Investigations & Security, Inc.  Dr. Dana Anderson- Forensic Psychologist & Forensic Expert;  Twitter: @psychologydrcom, TikTok: @psychologydr  Dr. Michael Baden- Former Chief Medical Examiner of New York City and past Co-Director of the New York State Police Medico-Legal Investigations Unit- Author: "American Autopsy" Nate Eaton - News Director, EastIdahoNews.com Twitter: @NateNewsNow, Instagram: @n.eaton  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This is sad, scary, and bizarre and genuinely shows how dangerous these people were. Zulema Pastenes was deeply involved with these people. I am shocked she hasn't been charged with anything! We dug up a bunch of the text messages in the Chandler Arizona FIOA document dump. Zulema is clearly a piece of work, in my opinion. She really seems to believe that she is in charge of things like Earthquakes, and other elements. She constantly thinks dark and evilness is attacking her and frequently reaches out to Chad Daybell for help. Then there are text messages between her and Lori Vallow.  They are bizarre. They think they are both goddesses and that they are translated beings. They really seem to believe everything Chad Daybell was selling them.
