It's Over For ABA? Another Woman CLAIMS Aba Atlas Is A Manipulative by Greg Adams
Energy Vampires in the Acting Industry Not everyone around you wants you to be emotionally healthy. That is not paranoia. That is a pattern worth recognizing. Because some people feed off insecurity, confusion, desperation, and approval seeking. And as artists, as actors especially, we are emotionally open. We are sensitive. That sensitivity is gorgeous for art. But it is dangerous without discernment. What to Start Noticing How do you feel around the people in your life? Around the people in this industry? Is your confidence being destabilized? Are you ignoring red flags because an opportunity feels important? I experienced teachers in my own training who made me feel emotionally dependent on them. If I did a good scene, they liked me. If I did not, they did not. That is not teaching. That is manipulation. And then there is the breadcrumb thing, leading you along, creating confusion, keeping you uncertain so you keep coming back. Also worth watching out for: actors who constantly compete or undermine. Friends who are always dumping emotionally. We all need someone to unload to sometimes. But if that is the entire relationship, that is a true energy vampire. Chaos Is Not the Same as Alignment Here is something I want you to understand about this industry. Chaos gets very normalized at drama schools, on sets, in groups of actors. And what happens is our nervous system can mistake that intensity for alignment. It is really intense so it must be good. Maybe not. When things are calm, clear, curious, confident, that is when real art gets made. Creativity depends on your emotional safety. Protecting your energy is not selfishness. It is career maintenance. Outsourcing Your Self-Worth I have watched actors hand their emotional authority to agents, coaches, teachers, social media. And as a coach, when an actor asks me what I think, unless it is about a specific business question, I want to know what they think. A good mentor does not hunt for their student. They teach their student how to hunt so that when they separate, the student can thrive. Healthy coaches empower and clarify. They build your confidence and teach you how to build it yourself. Manipulative people create dependency and chronic inadequacy. Spot those people in your life. Say less around them. Listen more. Pay attention to how your body feels after every interaction. Do you feel calmer and clearer? Or more anxious and contracted? The Bottom Line People pleasers and validation seekers are easy to manipulate. I was both. The work is learning to check in with yourself first, to notice how you feel, and to reach for a better feeling when something is off. If somebody consistently leaves your nervous system dysregulated, pay attention. That is information. Sensitive actors with boundaries are the ones who become powerful. Want to Keep the Conversation Going? I have a weekly accountability and time management class on Fridays from 12 to 1 Eastern, plus a weekly adjustment class focused on core energy work. Right now you get both for the price of one. Click the link in the show notes to sign up. And if you want a consultation first, we can do that too.

Eric joins Travis in the studio for a candid conversation at the intersection of church culture, tithing, and money. Eric hosts a podcast focused on mental, physical, and sexual abuse in religious environments, bringing a unique mix of survivor advocacy, theological curiosity, and lived experience inside fundamentalist spaces. His ability to dissect heavy topics with humor, clarity, and compassion makes this episode both challenging and incredibly engaging for anyone who's wrestled with faith, finances, or both. On this episode we talk about: The tension between Travis's “squeaky clean” money brand and Eric's work in the “shady underworld” of abusive religious environments Ministries to the homeless and why teaching homeless people to tithe 10% is F-tier financial advice How some pastors weaponize Old Testament tithing while ignoring other parts of the law The difference between genuine community generosity and multi-level marketing–style church economics Manipulative giving sermons, “windows of heaven,” and why telling single moms not to pay their light bill is predatory Prosperity gospel vs. independent Baptist messaging and how both can end up looking the same in practice Expository vs. topical preaching, cherry-picking verses, and using the Bible like page nine of Google to prove your point Top 3 Takeaways Tithing can be a meaningful personal decision, but when verses are used primarily to benefit the ministry instead of protecting vulnerable people, it's a red flag—especially for those already financially at risk. Many church “blessing” stories are actually examples of human community stepping up, not magical financial reciprocity; confusing the two can justify bad financial decisions and spiritual pressure around money. Any system where paying the pastor comes before paying bills—or where God's “protection” is framed as conditional on your giving—is less about faith and more about control, and that's dangerous for both your wallet and your wellbeing. Notable Quotes “You're telling me that a relational loving God is going to withhold protection from his children if they don't pay him money in order to have that protection?” “It's the church operating as a multi-level marketing company—take money from you, then give you business through their network and call it God's blessing.” “To suggest that the windows of heaven are closed to you because you paid a bill that you were contractually obligated to pay… that blows my mind.” Connect with Travis: Instagram: https://instagram.com/travischappell Other: https://travischappell.com A Word from Our Sponsors: - Go to Leesa.com for 25% OFF select mattresses (through August 23, 2026) PLUS get an extra $50 off with promo code TMM, exclusive for my listeners Learn more about your ad choices. Have you ever been so afraid of losing someone that you monitored every change in their behavior, panicked when they spent time with someone else, or pushed them away before they could replace you?In this episode, Xannie, Georgette, Carys, Katja, André, and Justin to talk about separation insecurity and fear of abandonment in BPD. They share what it was like when another person felt necessary for emotional survival, including obsessive reassurance seeking, leaving relationships first, trying to control a partner's behavior, and losing their sense of identity outside the relationship. The group also confronts some of the harder truths about these experiences: when desperate attempts to keep someone close become manipulative or frightening, why love can become tangled with primal fear, and how old losses can make every new relationship feel like another abandonment waiting to happen.Topics include:* BPD and fear of abandonment* Separation anxiety in relationships* Fear of being replaced* Relationship obsession and emotional dependence* Favorite person attachment* Pushing people away before they leave* Manipulative behavior and abandonment panic* Losing your identity in a relationshipIf you've ever panicked when someone took too long to reply, assumed another person would replace you, or left first because waiting to be abandoned felt unbearable, this episode is for you. This season, we're discussing BPD through the lens of the Alternative Model of Personality Disorders (AMPD). To meet criteria for BPD in this model, a person must have difficulties in at least two areas of personality functioning (Criterion A): identity, self direction, empathy, or intimacy, along with four or more pathological personality traits (Criterion B): emotional lability, anxiousness, separation insecurity, and depressivity (which are sub-traits of negative affectivity), impulsivity and risk taking (sub-traits of disinhibition), and hostility (a sub-trait of antagonism). In the first two episodes of the season, Dr. Carla Sharp, Dr. Frank Yeomans, and Dr. Alex Stein explain what the AMPD is, how it changes from the current categorical model, and how the BPD diagnosis is changing. In this episode of the CCPT Mythbusters series, I tackle one of the most common labels adults place on children: "They're just manipulative." I explain why manipulation requires cognitive planning, rational thinking, and intentional strategy—abilities that children simply don't possess developmentally. Instead, I unpack the difference between manipulation and conditioning, showing how children learn through emotional experiences and repeated interactions with the adults in their lives. When we view behavior through a child-centered lens, what appears to be manipulation is actually a child trying to meet emotional needs in the only ways they know how. I also discuss how this understanding transforms our conversations with parents. Rather than accepting the label of "manipulative," we can help caregivers recognize how patterns of reinforcement shape behavior and how CCPT interrupts those cycles by preserving relationship, maintaining healthy limits, and fostering genuine emotional growth. This episode is a reminder that when we stop judging children's behavior through an adult lens, we begin to see what they truly need—and that's where healing begins. What if the biggest thing standing between you and consistent high-ticket sales isn't your offer—but the way you're selling it? In this episode of the Growth Now Movement, I sit down with entrepreneur and marketing strategist Zach Hesterberg to talk about how coaches, consultants, speakers, and service providers can attract more clients and sell premium offers without feeling pushy, salesy, or inauthentic. Zach has built a business helping entrepreneurs use paid virtual events to consistently generate high-ticket sales, and what he shares in this conversation completely changes the way many people think about webinars and online events. If you've written off virtual events because you think people are "Zoomed out," think again. Zach explains why shorter, more intentional two-day virtual events continue to outperform many traditional webinars and how some of his clients have built repeatable systems that have generated millions of dollars in revenue. But what I appreciate most about Zach is that he doesn't teach manipulation—he teaches trust. We dive into his "upfront contract" strategy and the five core beliefs every buyer needs before they're willing to invest in themselves. Instead of convincing people to buy, Zach shows how to create an environment where the right people naturally want to take the next step. We also talk about his entrepreneurial journey—from building a social media agency in his college dorm while playing Division I volleyball to finding his niche working with coaches and consultants. He shares how becoming a Chubbies Shorts ambassador sparked his interest in marketing, how one $1,000-per-month client gave him the confidence to keep going, and how pivoting during COVID led him to discover the power of paid virtual events. One of the most impactful parts of our conversation comes when Zach shares losing his biggest client on his wedding night. Rather than letting it derail him, that experience strengthened his faith and reminded him that success isn't tied to one client, one opportunity, or one season. Today, Zach defines success as faithfully living out God's calling for his life. His daily habits—including prayer, reading Scripture, taking care of his health, and investing intentionally in his marriage—keep him grounded as he continues building his business. In This Episode, We Discuss: How to sell high-ticket offers without feeling manipulative Why paid virtual events still work in today's market The difference between educating and actually converting buyers Zach's framework for building trust during sales presentations The five buyer beliefs every entrepreneur should understand Why niching down accelerated his business growth The economics behind virtual events versus live events How faith has shaped Zach's approach to entrepreneurship Lessons learned from losing his biggest client during one of life's biggest moments Daily habits that help him stay focused, healthy, and aligned Whether you're selling coaching, consulting, speaking, courses, or professional services, this episode is packed with actionable marketing strategies that will help you serve more people while growing your business the right way. Because at the end of the day, the best sales strategy isn't about pressure. It's about building enough trust that the right people are excited to say yes.

Explore Your Personality: https://PersonalityHacker.com In this episode, Joel and Antonia explore why emotions are often treated as manipulative while logic is seen as more trustworthy. They unpack persuasion, marketing, buyer's remorse, compassion signaling, personal responsibility, and the tension between thinking and feeling. The conversation looks at how both logic and emotion can be used ethically when they work together instead of competing for moral authority.
Most manipulation doesn't look manipulative. It doesn't usually show up as obvious control, aggression, or intimidation. Instead, it often hides behind guilt, concern, humor, helplessness, passive aggression, and seemingly innocent comments that leave you feeling confused, responsible, or emotionally pressured. In this episode, we break down five common covert manipulation tactics that people use every day—often without you realizing what's happening. You'll learn what these phrases and scenarios really mean, why they work so effectively, and how they exploit normal human needs for connection, approval, fairness, and belonging. We explore the psychology behind guilt induction, fake concern, social pressure, passive-aggressive communication, and humor used as accountability avoidance. You'll also learn why highly empathetic, responsible, and self-aware people are often the easiest targets for these tactics. Most importantly, we'll discuss how to recognize the emotional hook before it pulls you into over-explaining, rescuing, defending yourself, or abandoning your own reality. In This Episode: ✔ Why covert manipulation is often more effective than obvious manipulation ✔ The psychology behind guilt-based communication ✔ How passive aggression creates emotional pressure without direct accountability ✔ Why "I'm just worried about you" isn't always concern ✔ How people use social pressure to influence your decisions ✔ Why "I was only joking" is often a way to avoid responsibility ✔ The nervous system response that makes manipulation work ✔ Why empathetic people are especially vulnerable to covert tactics ✔ How to stop taking responsibility for emotions that aren't yours ✔ The difference between hearing the words and understanding the function The goal isn't to become suspicious of everyone. The goal is to become aware of when someone's communication is trying to influence your emotions more than communicate their truth. Because once you understand what a statement is trying to make you feel—and what it's trying to make you do—you become much harder to manipulate. Ethical persuasion is your professional obligation to your prospective clients. But most advisors don't believe this because they fall into one of two extremes: They either ditch the "ethical" part and dive into unethical manipulation tactics to trick their prospects into forking over their hard-earned money… Or they think the complete opposite: That persuasion is beneath them. And thus, don't try to persuade prospective clients at all. Both of these extremes are dead wrong. And if you're committing either one, you're building a business on quicksand. Today's show makes the case that ethical persuasion is your obligation. You'll discover the difference between ethical marketing and manipulative marketing, you'll learn why being ethical is often more persuasive, and you'll leave knowing how to spot manipulative tactics anywhere. Listen now. Show highlights include: Why you don't need to be manipulative in order to be persuasive (and how misunderstanding the difference causes the slow and painful death of your business) (5:48) A simple 3-part test you can use to determine whether something is manipulative or not (6:29) Why it's ethical to leverage the incredible power of emotions when persuading someone to take your desired action (12:13) 3 signs that a financial advisor has crossed from ethical persuasion into manipulation territory (13:06) Why acting like persuasion is beneath you as an advisor will just make prospective clients go to an advisor who actually cares about their future (17:17) Since you listen to this podcast, I want to give you a gift: If you subscribe to the Inner Circle Newsletter, I'll send you a collection of seven "objection busting" and copyright free emails, personally written by me, that you can use right away to begin getting more clients. LONDINIUM CHRONICLES. 3. Gaius and Germanicus explore the 14th-century BC Amarna letters to illustrate the timeless, manipulative nature of imperial diplomacy. These clay tablets record correspondence between Egyptian Pharaohs and their Canaanite vassal kings. The letters reveal a persistent pattern where weak clients would "whine" and act helpless to demand gold, horses, and soldiers from the Pharaoh. They successfully utilized "negative leverage," threatening to defect to the rival Hittite kingdom if their specific demands were not met. (5)The speakers apply this ancient "light motif" to modern relations, noting that client states like Israel and Ukraine are currently very aggressive in leveraging the United States for resources. These vassals have awakened to a strategic truth: the patron often needs the stability of the client's territory more than the client needs the patron, granting the smaller state outsized influence. Germanicus posits that the health of an empire is measured specifically by its ability to effectively "tamp down" or manage these demanding client states. Currently, the U.S. is viewed as weak because it has been "sucked into" strategic liabilities and allowed vassals to "twist its arm," resulting in a significant loss of world authority. This historical parallel highlights that imperial power is rarely about direct colonial control and more about the complex, often manipulative relationship between patron and client. The conversation ends with a critique of the modern emperor's tendency to "double down" on failing strategies. (6)1849

Another week, another batch of RHONJ casting rumors, and nastiness, that have arisen from out of nowhere. Some fake, some real. From Danielle Cabral returning to Teresa's BFF cast along with Tre and Jackie, we separate fact from fiction surrounding each and all of these rumors. In yet another feud we did not have on our bingo cards this year, Nene Leakes slams Lisa Vanderpump as manipulative claiming “she did foul shiz to me”. Brittany Cartwright does not give one F as The Valley Season 3 begins filming. Ally Lewber moves to Charleston and films Southern Hospitality. Last, but not least, we look ahead to what's to come the rest of this dark, twisted season of RHOC. @behindvelvetrope @davidyontef Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
