Allen Stone and Julian Gavilanes
you ever really knAllen drops the news that him and his wife are having their second child. He also thinks it's a ridiculous thing to publicize on a public platform. What he wants to give out to the internet and his fans alike, is what he does for a living. These things are just very personal and he doesn't want to use that kind of stuff as a leveraging chip for popularity or attention. With that being said, we'll be welcoming a new little Stone to the family this summer! The boys then dive into their relationship with discipline. Allen talks about his lack of it and Julian talks about his extremist approach to it. At the end of the day, their work speaks for itself and it also speaks volumes to their disciplinary mindsets, but it's a fascinating thing to try and measure. Allen also talks about his role on the new NBC show, "American Song Contest, airing on Monday's at 8/7c. All he can say, is that he hopes he gets to blaze with Snoop! To watch the full episode or catch Allen and Julian's new segment called, "The Good Goss," (where they spill at that tea) head over to: www.patreon.com/liveatthelodge.You can join the Patreon fam and get tons of exclusive content from the boys. It was a privilege to have some of our favorite pals, and musical anomalies—Teddy Swims and Mac Ayers back in the studio. Hang with the boys as they dive in deep and relate a lot of their own personal experiences to each other's. They talk about the experience of becoming “known.” What that's done for their psyche and the way they operate nowadays. How they've adopted more anxiety and fear as soon as they got everything they thought they needed. And how they maintain their integrity in an industry that wants to commercialize everything. And most importantly, how gratitude is the attitude. Always. Then Allen gets on his “have kids” campaign and they talk about being younger and the important relationships they fostered and how they would want to work to ensure their kids had the same experience. They talk about love and loss and family and how they have fun, and it's overall an episode about keeping that levity in tact. None of us are ultimately that important, so let's all just enjoy the ride and keep attempting to do what makes us happy. The guys discuss the idea of getting older. What they look forward to in their later years and how they hope to stay creative throughout it all. Reminding themselves to slow down and enjoy the ride while they can, because at the end of their lives, it won't be the objects that they cultivated that will matter—but the experiences they had with all the people they loved the most. This episode puts our lives into perspective and begs the question; how do you want to remember your life when it comes to an end? We can all only hope it's filled with gratitude, love and all the incredible memories made with the most beautiful people you know. From a conversation about marriage—both between their own parents and Allen's, the boys break down love always having the capacity to exist, despite all obstacles including separations. What their boundaries (or lack thereof) have looked like in their previous relationships. And how sometimes burning a bridge might be necessary? Then the boys switch subjects and talk about the origin or art. Do all things have the potential to be recognized as art? What's NOT art? And after diving into all the approaches to creating it—how do we manage to make it matter? Then Allen gives his campaign speech to run for Senate--(not really) in this diatribe about the war on drugs and what he believes our country needs to do in order to fix it's inherent problem. Would you vote for him? We sure hope not.To watch the full episode or catch Allen and Julian's new segment called, "The Good Goss," (where they spill at that tea) head over to: www.patreon.com/liveatthelodge.You can join the Patreon fam and get tons of exclusive content from the boys. Allens family stuck together since the beginning. Julian's did not. But despite growing up in very different conditions, they discuss how their connection to each other is undeniable. The boys take a journey through the philosophy of “nature vs. nurture.” They talk about how fear has played a giant part in their desire to be liked and loved. How they resist some of the simplest opportunities to grow, because they are enslaved to what they've been conditioned to prioritize. Allen breaks down the epiphany he had on an airplane—"flying through the sky on a big tin bird and walking through the miracle of balance and nature, yet continuing to be glued to our devices." Admitting to not knowing what we're doing and recognizing that our instincts aren't always right. Dogs, and the different experiences Allen and Julian had at the middle school dances. Sit down with the boys as they bring you their favorite news of the week! A homeless, heroine addicted, mother of three got her life back together and graduated from the University of Washington recently. Her story brings up an interesting conversation about addiction and privilege. Allen talks about being a late bloomer when it comes to drug use and Julian talks about his premature introduction into it. Julian talks about sinking his family boat growing up and Allen talks about how he would never be able to own one for himself. But they both agree that having a friend with one would be ideal. Anyone? They also talk about wealth and what they would do with it if they ever made a LOT of it. It's an interesting conversation packed with lots of laughs and fun stories that will surely make you smile. We hope you're having a great day. Allen talks about his experience singing at The Special Olympics. And how the participants of the event made his see a different expression of joy that he hadn't been privy to beforehand. One without judgement. They boys discuss the notion of "fortune," and what it means to them whether is wealth or in spirit. Allen breaks down how all things cast shadows and how we can use that to our advantage sometimes. They also deep dive into "legacy" and if its actually possible to create one solely by route of altruism. How Goods This? NYU is doing trials on kidney transplants on humans with pig organs! Who would have thunk it? The boys discuss who they would actually die for. Each other? Listen and find out. Allen speaks on his relationship with procrastination and then he revisits a story where he almost went to jail for a nug of weed. This is the season finale, friends! The boys are taking an intentional break for a little bit of time to refocus their efforts around what they're trying to do. This podcast wasn't meant to become something that stuck, but it did and thanks to you, they're keeping it going. But they want to come back with a more specific approach to it all. This is not a farewell episode. It's a see you soon. Better than how we left you too. Thanks for supporting us and sticking with it. We love you. The boys break down their relationships to dogs and the responsibility it requires that they could go with and or without. Criticism and how their friendship has reached a point where they aren't afraid to give it to each other, despite their non-confrontational ways. Steve's incoming CPAP machine and how f%@*ed up it is that he hasn't slept in 28 years. Their relationships with money and the financial confidence in cultivating wealth that they have developed since the pandemic. Allen sings and beat boxes, Steve goes unconscious and Julian is wondering how much it's going to take to prove himself to himself. This is the second to last episode before we take our season break. But don't worry. We'll keep you satiated with fun content and come back stronger than we've ever been. Season two is going to have all sorts of fun surprises!Proud sponsors of Ladder Coffee. On this weeks episode the boys are bringing more good news to make you smile. From the oldest woman dead-lifter, who can more lift than we can, and is also 100 years old, to baby geniuses and somehow a fascination with Peter Dinklage's package. They also share stories of the most shocking thing they've ever witnessed. Above all else, they're laughing their asses off at each other and having a blast getting to catch up with each other. After a year of absolute nonsense, with the exception of a few profound conversations with each other and others about anything and everything, the boys are just now realizing that they should be more specific about what this podcast is even meant to represent. "How Goods This" is a simple phrase that's pretty easy to understand, but until now, we haven't really uncovered "what's good?" So, as they move forward with the same non-scripted, ridiculously honest, funny but never fact-checked talks, they'll be bringing some positive news segments to the mix. Every episode will surround a couple/few pieces of "good news" whether personal or out in the world that the boys can anchor their conversations with. It'll keep them on track, give you something to rely on every week, and bring forth an approach to add more joy into your life each Monday. This week, Allen talks about his experience playing at The Gorge Amphitheater with Dave Matthews on Labor Day weekend. How two of Daves band mates got Covid-19 and how they pivoted like pros and pulled off an exceptional show despite it all. A girl who just earned $20k for listing a uniquely puffed Dorito on Ebay, the partnership Advanced Auto Parts made with the Denver Police, and Quentin Quarantino: an internet meme'r turned social justice warrior. And that's just the beginning. The boys deep dive as usual and share their own experiences through it all. Proud sponsors of Ladder Coffee. Augie is not your typical 22 year old kid. He is also not just another saxophone player. I think we might call him a virtuoso. He won't say that about himself, but this young man possesses the talent, work ethic and brain to take himself as far as he's willing to go. And he's got a lot of goals, so watch out! As a New York native, Augie grew up following in his grandfathers footsteps of being a professional musician. Playing since the tender age of 4 years old, he latched on to every lesson and piece of encouragement he received until he was writing his own playbook. He recently graduated from The New School and hit the ground running. He's created his own unique style of playing and released several records of his own, he's recorded for multiple artists including Teddy Swims and Austin Kolby. But most recently, he's been on the road with our favorite boy, Teddy Swims. They've been opening for The Zac Brown Band and playing arenas all over the country, stealing the hearts of everyone. With a little bit of time off, Augie has shared himself with us to talk about the awesome parts about being a professional musician as well as all the really difficult realities that people neglect to think about when getting into this profession. His humility and curiosity to learn more and grow are unmatched and we are so happy to introduce you to this, soon to be household name. Who's ready for a celebration? All the boys are back and getting settled into the old studio space. Although Jules is still in New York, Uncle Al and Stevie-Baby are reunited and it feels so good! And no longer will Steve be out of the room again. The boys have some new things coming up soon, so make sure you stay tuned. In this episode the boys are diving into all the subjects. From ancient Greek civilizations that were completely matriarchal and enslaving their men, to India's new ban on single use plastics. They each share their own experience with being eco-conscious. They discuss who exists in the "globally recognized" category and what makes them become a part of a universal culture like that. Julian shares the story of how he got to work with Morgan Freeman and having one of his coolest acting moments of all time. And they land on growth and how the more they accomplish the more they expect themselves to accomplish. living with this blessing and curse, these dudes are curious as to why that is. So plug in and let's all hang out! Laugh, love, and remember that life is short, so let's have fun. How Goods this?Proud sponsors of Ladder Coffee. After a few weeks of being gone, Allen is back with his right hand road dog, and they're diving right in! Although they're missing Stevie-Baby, the boys get into an interesting discussion about the weight of social awareness. The importance of the "give and take" in social interactions and how developing a strong personality is more valuable than any other skillset. They talk about the illusion of perception and how fascinating it is that we all can experience the same thing differently. And then they get into the necessity of belly laughing and the evolution of laughter. Is it a learned behavior or is it inherent in all of us? Don't count on these guys for the answers, but enjoy the fun banter between these besties here. Proud sponsors of Ladder Coffee. Styles Bentley, AKA The Sultan of Silliness, AKA Quarter Inch, AKA Chapus King AKA Brent Loya is finally here! It's been a long time coming, but Julian finally got to sit down with his best friend--the man responsible for being one of the biggest influences in these boys lives. Having grown up with Julian from elementary school to now, the two reflect on their youth and how incredible it was that they didn't wind up in jail or die. Now, a married man, and a father of three beautiful little girls, they can start to connect all the dots. From Indian Guides, to establishing the lifestyle brand, "Chapus Wu," to smuggling ounces of marijuana into Young Life camp, to exploring sex, drugs, rock and roll and taking turns humping the jets of their parents hot tubs, there's not enough bandwidth to cover a podcast long enough for these fellas to express their outlandish experience together. Overall, they realize that none of them would be who they are if it weren't for the tribe they continue to be so privileged to be a part of. And they encourage everyone to keep searching for their own. It makes all the difference in the world. And everything else is secondary. On top of being on of the most hilarious and creative people we know, Brent is now an advocate and activist for the global climate crisis and you can check him out at www.stylesbentley.com as well as in the links below. It's the official year anniversary since we released our first episode! Welcome to the 52nd conversation we have somehow managed to release to the world consistently for an entire year. Thanks for being here with us! Unfortunately, (for Allen) he couldn't make it once again. He's traveling back from Australia after a big week of shows. He'll be back with us next week. Instead, Stevie-Baby and Julian brought their counterparts on—Laura Jawer and Stephanie Fleck. Laura tour managed for Allen a long time ago and has traveled the globe with him, slangin' merch and giving smiles! She's also Steve's better half. Stephanie is Julian's platonic life-partner and roommate in NY. Also the designer and creator of a lot of Allen's merch you see out on the road. She has her own sustainable, up-cycled, eco-conscious clothing and goods line called, "Grandmother Goods." These are best friends being best friends.Steph talks to us about making an effort to be less wasteful. Through her business and her lifestyle, she's trying to set an example for all of us to follow. And if she's been able to get Julian on board, she's not putting up with your excuses. Follow her on instagram @grandmothergoods and if you happen to be in NYC, go pay her a visit at Artist and Fleas in Williamsburg or anywhere else she has her markets. Tune in and laugh along with these besties! And reach out to your friends if you haven't done so lately. It makes a big difference. We miss you Al. See you next week.Proud sponsors of Ladder Coffee. Remember Stephanie Powers from episode 25? Allen and Julian sat down with her and got to know the Lightworker herself. Stephanie is an astrologer, an entrepreneur, an explorer of the soul and a podcaster, just to name a few things. She hosts Light Workers Lounge--a podcast that explores the human experience through all of its spiritual ups and downs. She's incredibly raw and open and had an incredible point of view about the world. Julian was abandoned by his best pals this week, so he decided to bring her back and have her do an astrological birth chart reading. It's a pretty heavy conversation at times, but all with the intention of breaking through the walls we sometimes don't know how to climb over. Stephanie brings up a lot of relatable topics through the reading and Julian does his best to expose what's in his heart as honestly and forthcoming as he can. It's a beautifully human conversation that I hope you can all glean something from. If you feel inspired and want to get a reading done with Stephanie, shoot her an email at spowers@lightworkers-lounge.com. We highly encourage you to reach out and support this wonderful woman. Welcome to episode 50! Unfortunately for everyone listening, our burly, bushy eye-browed, brunette--Stevie-Baby had some gnarly dental work to attend to, so he couldn't participate. But Allen and Julian made due and walked into a pretty deep conversation about their relationship with a higher power. Julian talks about receiving a random phone call from a fan who was going through it, and talking with her about being accountable for our own joy. How we are the source of our own happiness as well as our sadness. And how we MUST work to prioritize our mental health. They boys go on about how they find it in themselves daily to get out of bed and stay inspired and where that comes from. But needless to say, it's not just some inherent gift. We all have different circumstances and life can be a real b*tch sometimes, but we are powerful beings that possess the strength to control our attitude more than we sometimes give ourselves credit for. And we want to de-stigmatize mental health issues, because whether you believe it or not, we all have them. Proud sponsors of Ladder Coffee. When the boys taped this, it was Stevie Baby's Birthday. July 14th, to be exact. So put it in your calendars and don't forget! After celebrating Steve, and talking about their appreciation for aging, the fellas talk about the legacy of this podcast. How things become popular and what these episodes will sound like 20 years from now. They also go on a deep dive into MMA fighting, and what it must take to get started in that profession. But as they come to realize that everything is relative; it becomes clear that everyone starts nowhere and has to figure it out. In music or in acting or in banking or anything you choose to do. Everything takes time, energy, fortitude and a sh*t ton of work ethic, but if you're willing to put in the work--and lucky enough to have some opportunities come your way, you're going to experience the climb. At the end of the day, however, it's not about being amazing at what you do; it's about being committed and enthusiastic about it. It's about having the best time you possibly can, while you're doing it. So go do that. Proud sponsors of Ladder Coffee. The fellas are catching up across the world from each other again and they're reminiscing on when Julian had Bells Palsy and Allen broke 10 bones in a four year span. All the lessons or lack thereof they learned from going through those experiences. And how the hell Allen is going to prevent his own child from doing the same shit. The Sha'Carri Richardson controversy is brought up and the boys share their opinions on the seemingly backwards politics behind the Olympic Games. How drugs have affected our country and what we hope we can all do to resolve the issues. Then Allen goes on a deep dive into how the pandemic afforded him the time to watch his son turn into a little man, and how he plans to build his balance with it all once he hits the road again, inevitably. A nice mix of ridiculousness and truthfulness. Proud sponsors of Ladder Coffee. Remote conversations are in full effect. The boys have a long one for you this week. They missed each other, so they decided to keep talking. We hope you don't mind. This episode features talks about; the difficulty of smiling natural for photos, how they each learned the value of a dollar from a young age, their fear of motorcycles, what the legal drinking age should be, snowboarding crashes, their unending desire to create more work together for the rest of their lives, and UFO's, now known as UAP's (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena). The moral of the story is; we should all be doing exactly what we want to be doing with out lives. And we should be doing it with the people we love doing those things with. Create the life you want. Although that's easier said than done, it's worth the struggle. Either way, life is too short, so let's laugh!Proud sponsors of Ladder Coffee. So, the last couple of months the boys haven't actually been together. They backlogged a stack of episodes and put them out weekly. Did anyone know? That's why it was Allen's birthday for six episodes straight. But the boys left town and departed each other. Steve stuck around in Spokane WA, Julian went back to New York and Allen and his family went to Australia. They thought we'd be back in the attic by now, but things happened and their schedules got pushed back! Worry never though, because the boys have figured out how to keep this thing running! And it's the first real catch up since their departure back in March. Take a seat as they bring you into their remote locations from around the world. Allen tells the ridiculous story about the only gig he's had in a year that went horribly awry, and the lengths he had to go to make it all work out. They boys catch up on what they've been doing since being away from each other. It's been big adjustments for all of us, but despite any of it, the boys are laughing their asses off at each other once again. And FINALLY Stevie-Baby is in the mix and we get to look at his beautiful face all episode long. This is a new format for recording this podcast, so bare with us while we work out the kinks, but we have a lot of fun episodes coming atchya, so stay tuned!Proud sponsors of Ladder Coffee. The boys just went out to dinner and they are pumped about it! But an argument is set into motion when Julian says he could care less about the meal and really only cares about the company. Allen thinks he's lying for attention, but it opens them up to talk about their cooking styles and favorite meals to make. Who's the kitchen king and why does Allen use so many god damn pans when he makes food? They talk about getting back on the road and playing live shows again with a new found respect for their time and energy developed in Covid times. There's some outdated Covid talk but it's interesting to hear the perspective the boys had earlier on and it's actually kind of holds up. And as the world reopens, we actually have a lot to look forward to as far as live music, and possibly taking this show on the road! Then somehow they wind up talking about the regulation and legality of drugs in our country and how that's affecting us as a culture. Allen Stone will be running for congress 2036. Don't vote for him. Also, tomorrow is Julian's birthday. Happy Day!Now the proud sponsors of Ladder Coffee. The boys break down the 1's and 0's about how quantum computers are coming to change the landscape of the human experience. Where the movie industry is going and why they have a hard time buying into the Marvel Universe. They discuss how comfortable they've become with speaking openly on this public platform and how sometimes that might not be such a good thing. And then they touch on the need to be admired. How each of their approach differs on a spectrum of caring too much and not caring at all. Can you guess who fits where? Also, what does it really mean when someone tells you to "be yourself?" Allen and Julian start an argument over a robot lawnmower. Allen advocates for the convenience of today's technology while Julian believes that it's all seemingly becoming a “gateway drug” that we aren't even aware of yet. There's no winner in this argument, but it's a fascinating conversation. If technology could do everything for you would you let it? Are we going to be more efficient as people because of what we're developing or are we going to ultimately lose our sense of purpose because of it all? The truth is out there somewhere. As a celebration of what they had no idea would be our 42nd episode, they decided to have a pizza party! Also, there's no importance to the number 42. They just really wanted some pie. Sit dow with the boys as they see if the delivery person can make it all the way up to the attic. This episode is full of nonsense and laughter. Julian walks us through the audition process and Allen talks about his disdain for Sketchers. They also try out doing live calls with fans of the show, so if you ever want the chance to talk with these schmucks, DM the podcasts Instagram page and drop your number. This week the boys are cutting loose! They've got their beverages on deck and they might be losing their minds. Diving into conversations about being more conscious of the toxic bullshit in most everything mass produced. Allen's wife, Taz has led the way in educating them on how much of what we consume is actually hurting us. Allen and Julian recount the car crash they just got in (they're fine) and share some ridiculous stories of past accidents as well. They also wonder about the people who celebrate their birthdays for a whole month and then role play off of how they receive gifts when they do. It's not their best work, but they're having a good time. Hop on the train and giggle your way on down to HappyTown with these schmucks. You know you wanna! Now the proud sponsors of Ladder Coffee. The boys have decided to level up. They plan to write produce and star in an original musical together. Allen and Julian have been playing with this idea for a while now and they are finally committing to pulling the trigger on it. Imagine an Allen Stone album being attached to a beautiful cinematic narrative that both dictate the arc of their inherent story in one. Julian is already working on the script and Allen is eager to get in the writing room to start putting the music together for it. Overall, this will be the biggest undertaking the boys have ever dedicated their time to. But it might just be the most valuable piece of art they ever create. The boys break down their relationship to social media. Why they are incapable of putting their energy into Tiktok, despite the knowing benefits it could possibly have on them and their subsequent professions? How come Cameo has become a cesspool of compromised integrity for Allen? And are they wrong for thinking all of it is seemingly vapid and mind numbing bullshit? Maybe they’re just on the edge of a generational gap where it feels like creating opportunity needs to come from the passion to do something versus the gratuitous click bait culture we all seem to be falling into. Tell us if we’re doing it all wrong or not. But if anyone wants to manage our social media presence—inquire within. We need help either way.Now the proud sponsors of Ladder Coffee. On this weeks episode the boys talk about a variety of different things. From their relationships with alcohol as well as the ones with sobriety to the ridiculous nature of signatures nowadays. They break down this podcast and talk about how consistency and working through the "suck phase" is all a part of the growth process. And they promise to continue through it all. They also talk about hurricanes and all the inherent similarities they have to this pandemic. Big shout out to Mac Ayers who shifted our perspective on how to create art. By doing it ourselves and not relying on external forces. We are all capable of whatever we want to accomplish. We just gotta put in the time and the effort. But having a good attitude is up there as well. Although this conversation goes through different doors, the guys seem to be finding their rhythm with this thing. This episode was recorded months earlier, but the context of the talk still holds up. Sit down with the boys as they challenge each other to non-sensical and irresponsible tasks. They talk a lot about the mind over matter mentality and how it's shaped them all in their professional lives, but how it's also encourage a lot of reckless behavior. They speak on their fear of approaching situations that aren't always fun, but make them better for doing so. And all the people they admire for having done it with them. This is right before the Valentines Banquet, so they're gearing up to start shooting what was quite possibly one of the funnest projects of their lives. As the boys prepare to depart from each other for the Spring, they discuss what their plans are for while they're gone. Allen is heading off to Australia, Julian is going back home to NYC and Stevie-Baby is staying put. Allen has to endure a 2-week mandated quarantine in Oz, in a hotel room that he can't leave with his wife and two-year old. Julian has plans to move to a new spot in New York and start figuring out what his next move is. Steve gets to enjoy the beautiful new season in one of the most gorgeous places in all the land. But don't worry. The podcast can't stop, won't stop! As they all reflect on their time spent being creative all year, they all have a lot of excitement surrounding the next phase of it all. The boys deep dive into some new source material this week. Julian educates the boys on the auditioning lifestyle. Allen reflects on his first set at Coachella and how Julian's father, Diego Gavilanes crowd surfed and made it into the top moments of his performance experiences. Steve and Allen recount meeting for the first time. Then they tailspin into a dialogue about dating apps and marriage. Although none of them have used a dating app before, they break down the psychology of why. With one married man (Allen), a seriously engaged one (Stevie) and a very single one (Julian), they all share a unique point of view on the relationship experience. Through all the random happenstances of their lives, they've all cultivated a "life by design." And how they interact with the world is an interesting reflection of who they are. This conversation circles around identity. The boys talk about the benefits and invariable distraction that the internet has provided to them--as well as the upcoming generations. They also dive into paranoia and how young they were when they started doing recreational drugs. How they adapted to cliques and social norms when they were in high school and what influenced them the most during that formative period of their lives. The identities that were cultivated by the decisions they made when they were young. And how to avoid having panic attacks surrounding all of it. Now the proud sponsors of Ladder Coffee. This week the boys are opening up to a more serious conversation. They break down the impact affect Covid-19 has played in their lives this year. And although they have found ways to navigate and make the most of this time, a big part of it has really challenged a lot of what they're doing. But the interesting juxtaposition is that, although Covid has created a lot of challenges this year towards this new business model they have created, they wouldn't have been able to create any of it without its existence. Life is a real catch-22 ins't it? And these guys are unpacking their own thoughts on it. But not before a lot of laughter and story-time with the boys. From bad service and what constitutes a "bad review" to Julian and all the times he's been fired from bartending gigs. Allen asks Julian about how acting got him sober and they laugh as they reflect on all the bad decisions that lead up those rock bottom moments. And a special guest appearance from Julian's dad, Diego that will be sure to put a smile on your face. Now the proud sponsors of Ladder Coffee. Start getting used to the boys hanging out with each other because we have a lot of episodes coming your way that are filled with just them talking to each other about anything and everything. They seem to have a much more candid and uncensored approach to their conversations when it's just the three of hem. This episode dives into a ton of different subject matter, but the takeaway is "effort." How much we feel like we're willing to put into the lifestyle we want for ourselves. Or how little? Other subjects include; making friends with people on Instagram nowadays, Allen and Julian having a near death polar plunge, having hobbies and Chia Pets. For decades Eric Krasno has been a gigantic presence in popular music with his virtuosic guitar playing. It's more than likely that you've heard his playing in the music you know and love a number of times, if you're an active music listener. He's a multi GRAMMY winning artist and once you hear him play you'll know why. Krasno co-founded the bands, Soulive and Lettuce, and has sold out shows with those bands all over the globe. He's one of the most dialed in and respected artists of our generation. He's taken the stage with artists like, The Rolling Stones, Dave Matthews, John Mayer and The Roots just to name a few. He's also produced and song-written for people like, Tedeschi Trucks Band, 50 Cent, Talib Kweli, Norah Jones and of course Allen Stone. The list is long and we don't even need to get into it because Krasno has a depth and beauty to him that transcends all of it. Through all of his experiences and unparalleled relationships, he is one of the most grounded and hard working guys we know. Sit down and laugh with us as we share stories of past experiences, dive into being a new father, maintaining the love of music at all costs, and how he's grown through this pandemic. We can't tell if Mac Ayres is as serious as we are, but we think we've all just become best friends. Without even listening to his otherworldly singing voice, watching him shred the guitar or playing the keys like a god damn legend, Mac is just a spectacular guy to hang out with. Within 24 hours the connection we made as friends was something that none of us were used to. Mac dropped out of Berklee School of Music because he knew exactly what he wanted and wasn't afraid to go after it immediately following that decision. His ability to capture an audience with his silky voice and his epic swagger on stage caught the attention of the popular culture and he's been growing ever since. If you haven't heard his music, we couldn't recommend it enough. Also, if you ever get the privilege of meeting him yourself, do yourself the favor of becoming his best friend. Warning: This episode features some explicit content. If you are sensitive to language or crude humor, this might not be your episode. Otherwise, use your discretion and listen at your own risk. If you're older than 25, you probably remember Andy Dick from any of his appearances in films like, "Old School," "Zoolander," "Road Trip" or "Dude, Where's My Car." Or you might remember the decades of outrageous and controversial behavior that earned Andy a spot as one of the beloved icons of the American pop culture. Back in 2012, Julian was in a movie called, "21 and Over," whereafter he met Andy and Paris during the premier event of the awful film. It was an interesting might to say the least. The dynamic duo had started a musical comedy act way back then, and have taken it on the road ever since. They've done shows all over the country, flabbergasting their audiences with head turning material. They are currently working on developing the hit series, "Tiger Dick." A mockumentary based on "Tiger King." Andy plays a strangely spot on Joe Exotic and Paris plays his co-star--the tattooed, toothless, former flame, John Finlay. Keep your eye out. This episode packs all the punches--from cameo's by the reformed Christian and creator of the "KERMITorium Church--the beautiful Elisa Jordana, to a jaw dropping performance of their hit song, "FB." This is definitely an episode to watch on Youtube if you have the ability. Enjoy and let us know what the hell you think is going on here, cause we're still putting it together. As the football season has officially come to a close, we had the privilege of sitting down with Jacob Hollister of the Seattle Seahawks to talk about his journey into the NFL. Getting drafted as a rookie to The New England Patriots in 2017 was a big deal in and of itself, but going to the Superbowl that same year was a unique experience most professional athletes don't get the privilege of having. Although they lost, they went back the second year and won it, giving him his first Superbowl ring. In 2019 he was traded to The Seattle Seahawks. Jacob is without question an exceptional athlete, but he's also an artist. He plays music and enviably has a beautiful voice. He's found a way to navigate a professional football career all while maintaining his love for staying creative and having a well balanced life. If you like Allen's music, it's almost certain that it's because of the influence and or the literal creation of specific records you've heard the collaboration of Tingsek on. These two have worked together to create some of Allen's favorite songs and have toured the country together for many months. Tingsek has a thing about him. You can hear it in his music, but it's the most present when you get the privilege to see him live. There's something visceral about watching Tingsek play music. He takes himself on a journey as he plays, and the audience always gets to come along with him. We’re so thrilled he came on to reminisce, talk about what music means to him, and how he's managed to be both the artist that he needs to be and the amazing father that he is. One of the longest and most fulfilling relationships Allen has kept over the course of his life is Jess Carpenter. They both grew up in the same tiny town of Chewelah WA and became friends early on. Jess was always a kind hearted, generous and beautiful girl, so it was no surprise when she met her match in Mike Carpenter. After getting married and starting to build the life of their dreams, Mike was diagnosed with cancer. The tragedy unfolded as his sickness worsened--and after putting up an incredible fight, his life was taken. Jess looked her worst fears in the face and found a way to combat them and rebuild the life she always wanted for herself and her husband. Tom Askman is an award winning painter, sculptor, designer and all around artist. He's been a professor of art for over 50 years, mentoring some of the finest artists of every time period. He also happens to be Allen's neighbor. We could have talked with Tom about his illustrious art career, but instead we dove into what it means to be a human. And how to find the artist in yourself through taming the rational mind and freeing the intuitive one. If there are any episodes of this podcast that we think offer some kind of intrinsic value, it's this one. We'll go back to this one often, for the many beautiful reminders to keep in mind as we move through life. We sit down with the man responsible for creating the space this podcast and most of their creative endeavors take place at. Let's be honest, he's really just a god among men and a true mentor to all of us. An architect, a musician, a painter a craftsman, Dan Spalding is a real renaissance man. He's the owner and designer of The Zephyr Lodge--A place where all of our creative dreams come true. He owns about half the real estate in Spokane including a handful of music venues, he builds the most epic houses you'll ever see and his painting will intoxicate you. More than anything, Dan is a guy who believes in getting his hands dirty. He believes in taking his time. And he respects the process of creation. Something we all need to get back to the basics with. Quite possibly one of the most interesting talks we've had yet. We hope you agree.
