He moved on to become Marvel's Advertising Manager and then during that time, Fabian also began writing for Marvel on a freelance basis. His first published book was PSI-FORCE #9 in 1987. He then went on to write THE NEW WARRIORS which was simply wonderful. Clearly a glutton for punishment, Fabian also began writing several of Marvel's top-selling X-titles, including X-FORCE, CABLE, DEADPOOL and the company's #1 selling book, X-MEN. These books not only sold millions of copies to gazillions of readers, Fabian also got to star in a series of X-Men Pizza Hut videos. And outside of comics, Fabian has worked with STARLIGHT RUNNER ENTERTAINMENT for 20 years on story world development and franchise management consultation for some of the biggest entertainment companies on some of the biggest properties. Thank you for joining us today as we celebrate God's grace, in our lives, in our ministry, and around the world. Today's Title: Thanksgiving Eternal In seeking God on what to share today, He continually put on my heart to read the blog He had me write Thanksgiving Day of 2010. I pray this blesses you with the true spirit behind Thanksgiving. 9 “But we are able to see Jesus, Who was ranked lower than the angels for a little while, crowned with glory and honor because of His having suffered death, in order that by the grace (unmerited favor) of God [to us sinners] He might experience death for every individual person. 10For it was an act worthy [of God] and fitting [to the divine nature] that He, for Whose sake and by Whom all things have their existence, in bringing many sons into glory, should make the Pioneer of their salvation perfect [should bring to maturity the human experience necessary to be perfectly equipped for His office as High Priest] through suffering. 11For both He Who sanctifies [making men holy] and those who are sanctified all have one [Father]. For this reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren;” Hebrews 2:9-11 AMPC I woke up this morning, late of course, because we drove around 13-14 hours to get to my in-laws for Thanksgiving in Virginia. Having stayed up late to fellowship and talk with my father and mother-in-law I went to bed exhausted and ready for a full rest. I woke up this morning recouping from the long drive yesterday and the long day and night. Grabbing a cup of coffee, greeting my husband and son with a Thanksgiving Day salutation, I then dove into The Word to eat my first Thanksgiving Meal!!! Jesus!!!! Holy Spirit led me to Hebrews, and I simply started with Chapter 1 of the book of Hebrews and continued to devour and sink into the rest of the book, compelled to throw myself at the feet of My Lover, the One who is altogether beautiful and worthy of my devotion, Jesus!! As I read Hebrews beginning with the establishment of the person of Jesus, and the sacrifice He came to make for man in order to bring forth God's new covenant of redemption and cleansing of sin once and for all I could not help but to consider Thanksgiving and what the meaning of this Holiday entails. Thanksgiving has been a season for me to fellowship with people I love and enjoy a time of gathering from long distances in order to bring about a sweet fellowship where we share joys, trials, overcoming victories, hopes, dreams and God's work in our lives. It is a time to commune with our family and friends to edify and encourage each other, all the while thinking that it would be so nice if we had these meetings more often. However, due to the great distance (13- 14 hours drive) between us, work, meetings, schedules and commitments coming together like that is not as frequent. This year we have been blessed to visit my husband's family four times. In digesting all of these elements during the Thanksgiving Holiday and during my bible study this morning I felt as if I was sitting inside of the book of Hebrews, if that were possible. While reading scripture after scripture and seeing the beautiful transition of God closing out the old covenant only to bring in His New and Better Covenant with man, all I could see was the first Pioneer, who went before us to a heavenly Kingdom, one that we reach as a result of Christ. And I could identify with the Thanksgiving we celebrate here in America and the one that we continually celebrate daily in our hearts and spirits for our heavenly home, our glorious home, where eternity has been placed in our heart. While thinking upon this I realize that through Jesus' sacrifice each and every person has the opportunity to follow Him into the New Land, the Heavenly Kingdom, where Jesus and God are the Light, they are the Temple! Seeing Jesus, being our High Priest, making intercession for us and entering the Most Holy place in heaven to offer His own blood as atonement for our sins I realize how that is truly Thanks Giving Eternal!!! Jesus only had to enter one time into the Most Holy place to atone for sins!!! Then He sat down at the right hand of the Father until His enemies are made His footstool. I stand amazed and overwhelmed at the simplicity of God's Gospel, yet the depth to which it flows!!! It is Christ giving up everything!!! Giving up His throne even for a little while to be made even lower than the angels when He stepped upon this earth to carry out His duties, His oath to the Father!! It was God Himself, coming through Christ, to bring us forth into our land, our home, where we would be with God eternally!!! The simplicity of God's Love that rings throughout the obedience of Christ Jesus' sacrifice for mankind is easy to see. It is LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God's love that could not be without us, unconnected to His glorious jewels, His treasures that bring Him such satisfaction and pleasure! I'm reminded of the image the Holy Spirit gave me years ago regarding my own son, Matthew. I have two sons, Christopher and Matthew Kirby. During the time God gave me the image; Matthew was still young, only six years old. He still depended a lot on me to help him with daily activities, such as preparing his meals, putting bandages on injuries, supplying much love and support, etc. Then God asked me “how would you feel, if all of a sudden Matthew could not see you or hear you?” Moreover, I would have to watch Matthew go through the torture of looking for me only to never find me and not ever being able to hold him and assure him of my love, a mother's love. I thought about the idea and pictured such an occurrence. It was frightful and disconcerting if not even tormenting to see the reality of such a thing. I responded to God, that I couldn't live like that because it would be utterly too painful to go through and watch. God showed me how it was no different for Him. God completely loves us and desires to be there to provide for us every step of the way. He desires to wrap His loving arms around us and bring us to Himself! Moreover, He longs for us to live with Him eternally! The image is such a picture of God's love, His divine devotion and longing to have His children right there with Him! As I see this in the picture of Jesus, who shows us the Father's face, I see how the utter abandonment of His place in glory to come into earth as an infant, so dependent on care, completely helpless at a young age, having to be fed and clothed by Mary was a demonstration of the complete trust God has in His love in us, too! The Father could not be without us; neither could Jesus or Holy Spirit because from the beginning, man was made in the Image of God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit)! He made us in His image and to be without us, He would be grieved, too. Jesus, coming forth, in complete obedience to complete His Father's will brought us back into communion with the Father. The obedience of Christ unto salvation brought us into our land, into our position, into our home!! Jesus was the first Pioneer!!!! JESUS WAS THE FIRST PIONEER!!! THE PIONEER OF OUR SALVATION!!!! BRINGING MANY SONS TO GLORY!!!!! FOR THAT I HAVE THANKSGIVING ETERNAL!!! GIVING THANKS CONTINUALLY TO CHRIST JESUS, THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF OUR FAITH!!!!! God comforts us by the oath He made to Christ, appointing Him our high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.--Hebrews explains to us that a New covenant was necessary, because the old covenant was faulty. The fault, of course, lies in poor sinners, who cannot keep the old covenant, because of the fall, and their corrupt sin nature. The blessings of the old covenant therefore cannot be obtained.--Therefore, God discloses His New covenant, that brings His people salvation, not by our works or obedience, but by God's unilateral promise to us.--Hebrews goes to precise lengths to explain, that this New covenant is NOT LIKE the old covenant, which God made when Israel was redeemed out of Egypt, which covenant they promptly broke.--The New covenant is very different indeed- It is all of God's promise to us, and none of our promises to God. Paul Monette (October 16, 1945--February 10, 1995) was the author of at least 4 novels: Taking Care of Mrs. Carroll (1978), The Gold Diggers (1979), Afterlife (1990), and Halfway Home (1991). He also wrote Sanctuary, a fable, which was illustrated by Vivienne Flesher and published posthumously in 1997. His first nonfiction book, Borrowed Time: An AIDS Memoir (1988) received a National Book Critic's Circle Award nomination and won a Lambda Literary Award. His second memoir is Becoming a Man; his third book of nonfiction is Last Watch of the Night, published in 1994. His books of poems are The Carpenter at the Asylum, in 1975; No Witness (1981), and Love Alone: Eighteen Elegies for Rog (1988). His New and Selected Poems is called West of Yesterday, East of Summer (1994). He died of complications due to aids on February 10, 1995. Where is Mt. Moriah? In this lesson we find that the actual Hebrew in the Bible implies that Moriah is not a proper name. The word itself is ancient and disappeared from use as we get closer to the Second Temple period, 600 B.C. till 70 A.D. In the “JPS Torah Commentary – Genesis” the etymology of the word is unknown but trusted scholar like Nahum Sarna suggest that Moriah (מֹרִיָּה) might come from the Hebrew word “to see” or râ'âh (רָאָה). So, this could then result in the two places in the Hebrew Scriptures where Moriah occurs to have an equivalent meaning. See below. Gen. 22:2 (original) - He said, "Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you." Gen. 22:2 (alternative) - He said, "Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land where it‘ll be seen, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you." Then we go to 2 Chron. 3:1 where our translations sayu based upon rabbinic tradition that Solomon built the 1st Temple on the mountain called Moriah. Let's loo at both the original and the alternative. 2 Chron. 3:1 (original) - Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah (the Hebrew actually says “on the mountain in the Moriah”), where the LORD had appeared to his father David, at the place that David had prepared on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite. 2 Chron. 3:1 (alterntative) - Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD in Jerusalem in the place where it'll b seen on the mountain where the LORD had appeared to his father David, at the place that David had prepared on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite. The Hebrew is precise. Moriah is not a proper name. Thus, there is no mountain that is named Moriah. On top of that it says it took Abraham 3 days to walk from the area of Beer Sheva to Jerusalem. That is over 50 miles on good trails and roads. It has been shown this is a 5 day trip at least. In other words, the mountain where we study the Binding of Isaac is likely not the Temple Mount. In his JPS Genesis excursus 16, Nahum Sarna surveys several suggestions for the etymology of the word “moriah”: The Lofty Country – Septuagint The Land of Worship – Aramic Targum / Ramban The Land of Vision – Vulgate /Samaritan Targum The Land of the Amorites – Peshitta / Rashbam The Land that I will show you – Genesis Rabba 55:9 The Place from which fear of the Lord emanates – R. Jannai in Tanchuma The Place from which teaching issued to the world – b. Taanit 16a / Rab. 55.9 These multiple creative suggestions highlight the difficulty of assuming that the land of Moriah was meant to reference a particular place. The simple fact of the matter is, we cannot be sure of the actual place meant when the Torah describes Abraham taking his son into the Land of Moriah. For a detailed study on this refer to the “JPS Torah Commentary – Genesis,” by Nahum Sarna. I was thinking about this and I offer this idea – God seems to pick special unique places where His covenant and His agenda is seen. This relates to the possible meaning of Moriah (מֹרִיָּה) – a place of vision, a place where it'll be seen, a place where God's covenant is seen. So, Abraham passes the test on a mountain Yahvay (the Lord) took him to. In Gen. 22:16+ God tells Abraham that all the promises he made to Abraham in Gen. 12:1-3 He will honor and they will happen since Abraham passed the test; Abraham showed is allegiance to God by being willing to sacrifice his own son that he loved. Matter at this place we read that Abraham says … Abraham called the name of that place “The LORD Will Provide,” as it is said to this day, "In the mount of the LORD it will be provided." (Gen 22:14) Problem! It does not say that. The word used is “to see” or râ'âh (רָאָה). God took Abraham to a land where it'll be seen, perhaps the root of Moriah. And, indeed, it was seen. God provided the ram as a substitute for Isaac and this is clearly a special mountain, a special place, for a special event, and a special man, Abraham. There is another mountain someplace in the Sinai where one might say the Lord led His people to a mountain in the moriah, in the place where it'll be seen, in the place of vision. There God established His NEW covenant with all Israel, at His mountain, with His handpicked leader and prophet, Moses. It was hear that the people SAW the evidence of God's presence on the mountain. So, we have a different mountain for a special event involving a special man, Moses. But, the mountain of God moved. The Temple Mount became the “Mountain of God.” This is easily seen in the book of Isaiah chapter 2 and many other places. And at this place of vision, at this place where it'll be seen, we see the establishment of a New Covenant with Jew and Gentile, this happens at this special mountain, and involves a special man, the manifestation of God Himself in Messiah Jesus. Amazing. Could this be what's going on? Is this what God wants us to understand and know? I am not sure but it sure makes more sense than the unbiblical, non-historical, and non-geographic views of the rabbis. Henry Chadwick is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer. His New self-produced EP, Guest At Home, showcases Henry's skills, as he wrote, engineered and played most of the instruments on it. Henry draws influences as much from music of the past (The Beatles, The kinks, T-Rex, Nirvana, David Bowie etc.,) as from as from current artists who keep pushing forward stylistically and sonically. Henry makes catchy, thoughtful and usually energetic music with a unique perspective, edge and charm. Henry Chadwick was raised in a studio environment, his father (Daren Chadwick) being an engineer who worked out of Cherokee studios in Hollywood through the 1980's and continued to record in his home studio in the Santa Cruz Mountains moving to raise a family. Henry has been playing in bands and learning how to record music since he was a youngster. He plays drums in roots-rock band, The Coffis Brothers and fronts the band My Stupid Brother. Henry's live band consists of Aidan Collins on the Bass, Kyle Poppen on the guitar, Jesse Wilkinson on drums, and Henry himself on guitar and vocals.

Ishmael Reed was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, but grew up in Buffalo, New York, where he attended the University of Buffalo, a private university that became part of the state public university system after he left. The university awarded him an honorary doctorate in 1995. He moved to New York City in 1962 and co-founded with the late Walter Bowart the "East Village Other", a well-known underground publication. He was also a member of the Umbra Writers Workshop, an organization that helped establish the Black Arts Movement and promoted a Black Aesthetic. Mr. Reed has written nine novels and has edited thirteen anthologies. Ishmael Reed is a founder of the Before Columbus Foundation, which since 1980 has annually presented the American Book Awards; the Oakland chapter of PEN; and There City Cinema, an organization that furthers the distribution and discussion of films from throughout the world. Two of his books have been nominated for National Book Awards, and a book of poetry, "Conjure", was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. His "New and Collected Poems", 1964-2007, received the Commonwealth Club of California's Gold Medal. Reed's novels, poetry and essays have been translated into French, Spanish, Italian, German, Japanese, Hebrew, Hungarian, Dutch, Korean, Chinese and Czech, among other languages. Ishmael Reed's texts and lyrics have been performed, composed or set to music by Albert Ayler, David Murray, Allan Touissant, Carman Moore, Taj Mahal, Olu Dara, Lester Bowie, Carla Bley, Steve Swallow, Ravi Coltrane, Leo Nocentelli, Eddie Harris, Anthony Cox, Don Pullen, Billie Bang, Bobby Womack, Milton Cardonna, Omar Sosa, Fernando Saunders, Yosvanni Terry, Jack Bruce, Little Jimmy Scott, Robert Jason, Alvin Youngblood Hart, Mary Wilson of the Supremes, Cassandra Wilson and others. Since the early 1970s, Ishmael Reed has championed the work of other writers, founding and serving as editor and publisher of various small presses and journals. Reed recently retired from teaching at the University of California, Berkeley, where he taught for thirty-five years.
