“Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two...the earth quaked, the rocks were split,” Matthew 27:51 NLVWhat does it mean to live "Beyond the Veil"? At the moment on the cross when Jesus breathed his last, the veil of the temple was torn in two. The veil or thick heavy curtain separated off the Holy of Holies housing the presence of God. To live beyond the veil is to humbly seek God and surrender to His will in order to live in His presence. Because of Jesus, it is available to any Christian! If you have not accepted Christ as your Savior. Do so today!Go to parentcompass.tv/know-Christ.What leads the Allens to live "Beyond the Veil"?When Yvonne was 14 she moved with her family from Mumbai, India to Canada where she met her husband Paul, originally from the United Kingdom. Seeking the truth and sorting through cultural differences, the Allen's faced financial difficulty, career driven identity, and serious health complications, but found freedom in complete surrender to Christ. Now they prayerfully walk through this new season of life with their children and grandchildren!“He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My [Jesus] sake will find it.” Matthew 10:39For Yvonne Allen's book by the same name click here. For shows and more subscribe at parentcompass.tv/subscribe or download the Parent Compass App. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/1493/29

Here’s how the Channel 12 news in Phoenix began the story, Thursday night on the 10 o’clock news: “God sent that dog to rescue my son.” Words spoken by the 2-year-old boy’s father, Corey Allen, outside the family’s home on the west side of rural Seligman, Arizona. Corey Allen says he was working on the roof, Sarah Allen was inside with their one-year-old. And two-year-old Bodin Allen went outside to play. But when Bodin Allen’s mom called for him, he didn’t answer. He wasn’t there. And after an hour of frantic searching, as the sky darkened, the Allens called the Yavapai Sheriff’s Department and before long there were dozens of search-of-rescue volunteers and deputies searching the area. Helicopters with spotlights scoured the plateau, the pilots reporting two mountain lions prowling the territory. The search went on all night, and by morning the news of the missing boy had been announced by the Sheriff’s Department and broadcast by the local news, spread around by neighbors and radio and the Internet — so that a rancher named Scotty Dunton, seven long miles away in the backcountry to the west, had already heard before he got in his pickup and headed to town about 7:30 a.m. And saw his big old ranch dog, Buford the Anatolian Pyrenees, coming up the dirt driveway with a blond-headed toddler by his side. A blond-headed toddler in dirty pajamas, eyes red from crying and with a few scratches from the high-desert brush on one arm and his face, but otherwise alive and well.Support the show: https://www.patreon.com/desertoracleSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Although Carly got her law degree, had wonderful articles at Allens and was associate to Justice David Habersberger, Carly always knew pure law would not be her path. Since 2015 her work has focussed specifically on judicial and lawyer wellbeing, conducting Australia's first empirical and psychologically grounded research into the sources and nature of work-related stress among the Australian judiciary, publishing in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks and presenting around the globe. In the first six months of this year, plaintiff firms have investigated and pursued a “very broad base of claims”, and even though there has been a softening in filing rates for the year-to-date, it will be prudent to maintain a cautious outlook, one BigLaw partner says. In this episode of The Lawyers Weekly Show, host Jerome Doraisamy speaks with Allens partner and class actions co-lead Alex Tolliday about how and why he ended up practising in this space, why he finds the “detective work” so rewarding, the key takeaways from his firm's recently released Class action risk: Interim update report, and what we can learn from the volume of filings seen in the last six months, and what it could mean for the back half of the year. Tolliday also reflects on there having been no shareholder proceedings filed so far this year, the volume of consumer proceedings being witnessed and a pending High Court judgment, how teams like his prepare for what might be coming in the market, whether we will see more cyber and data privacy proceedings being brought, ensuring clients are as prepared as possible for proceedings of any kind, whether ESG-slanted proceedings are being brought, what good leadership of a class action team looks like, and what excites him about working in this space moving forward. In this episode I go on a style journey with British born international visual artist Sophie Tea. Sophie has recently come onto my radar…her work is defined by her vibrant use of colour, energetic drips and signature splats – it champions inclusivity, self-acceptance, accessibility and strives to make women feel just a little bit nicer about themselves… a resounding YES to that!   Sophie's subject of choice is women…naked women. She is fresh off the back of her Send Nudes Live show at The London Palladium in which 50 naked women are painted for a live catwalk show, her 6th to date. She had a staggering 10,000 applications from women to walk in the show so she is clearly onto something. We talk about how when she was growing up she had never felt comfortable with her body shape, how the role models of her childhood were very stereotypical and how as a result of this she wants to celebrate the female form in all it's wonderful variations.   Sophie's mission is to make art more accessible… she is open about her commercial approach to this, using social media to reach her customers and offering payment instalments to her young audience who may be too intimidated to go into a gallery… she is brilliantly entrepreneurial and certainly breaking the traditional gallerist mould.   We discuss how as human beings we bond through our clothes, we sometimes connect with people simply by what we are wearing and being in a similar style tribe. We talk about how our clothes can often tell stories…Sophie undoubtedly has a passion for fashion, it's definitely a hobby for her… be it thrifting (in “posh areas”), to buying full-on designer pieces, to the joy of choosing yet more cowboy boots at the mecca of cowboy boots that is Allens in Texas… not to mention something we are both guilty of… “milestone” shopping.   I hope you enjoy this episode…thank you @sophieteaart for being such a great guest …let's go thrifting!

Eight innocent people dead. Seven more wounded. And hundreds more still suffering from shock and fear after being caught in the middle of a mass shooting involving another AR-15 style rifle. This time, it happened in Allen, Texas, a Dallas suburb. But at this point, it seems you can insert any Texas city's name, like a Mad Lib. What is different is that a handful of Republicans have at least signaled they're willing to have a discussion on guns. Will there ever be a tipping point for the Texas GOP to support even modest gun control measures? Will it take more Allens, as if Uvalde, El Paso, Sutherland Springs and Santa Fe weren't enough already? A recent University of Texas at Austin survey found that the vast majority of Texans support raising the minimum age to buy any gun from 18 to 21 (76%, including 64% of Republicans). But the Republican-controlled Legislature has, so far, avoided a vote. In other words, no Texas Republican has yet had to go on record whether they support raising the age, or any other gun safety legislation. In this episode of Y'all-itics, the Jasons are joined by veteran WFAA journalist Teresa Woodard, who got the interview everyone's been talking about… a Republican lawmaker who bluntly said something must be done about guns. And the Representative of the district where the Allen massacre took place explains why he thinks it will lead to legislative changes. But what kind of change? That answer is what most Texans have been waiting for.GuestsTeresa Woodard, WFAA Senior Reporter/AnchorState Rep. Frederick Frazier, R-McKinneyState Rep. Jeff Leach, R-Allen

No one could imagine that these two little girls would never return home, and even though their bicycles and belongings were found within hours of them being reported missing, it would take months to find their bodies and lay them to rest. Over the last decade, the loss of Elizabeth and Lyric has had ripple effects through their community, and the stress and pain of never knowing what happened caused a rift amongst their family members. And with the recent arrest of Riched Allen, the suspect in the Delphi murders case, law enforcement has been investigating a possible connection between Allens and what happened to Elizabeth and Lyric in Evansdale just five years prior. Both crimes took place in small Midwestern towns of just a few thousand people, Evansdale is only three hundred miles from Delphi. Both crimes involved the horrific murders of two young girls who were out together alone, and there has been discussion about how the dates of both disappearances are anagrams of each other, with Elizabeth and Lyric vanishing on 7-13-12, and Abby and Libby going missing on 2-13-17.
