Her standout performance with Lorde at Coachella, following a remarkable 9-year tenure as the lead singer of the 'acid jazz' sensation, The Brand New Heavies, solidified her reputation as a powerhouse vocalist. These days, she continues to mesmerize audiences with her soulful stylings, serving as the sole vocalist for South African icon Jonathan Butler since 2018." But Honey's artistry extends far beyond the spotlight. With four solo albums under her belt and a prolific career as a songwriter and vocal producer, she's left an indelible mark on the industry. From collaborating with the likes of Allen Stone and Donny Osmond to gracing several Grammy-winning records with her voice and vocal arrangements, her influence knows no bounds. Moreover, Honey Larochelle's vocal talents reached millions worldwide as she graced the grand finale of RuPaul's Drag Race, the illustrious RUSICAL, for three consecutive seasons, solidifying her reputation as a sought-after vocalist. With the support of her team of incredible musicians, writers and producers, she seeks to weave together a tapestry of sound that not only entertains but also oers a glimpse into the depth of human experience. The madness comes in for a landing with this, the tenth episode of Regarding Roger. Masters of Digression Chaz and Wolfie go all out in this drain-bamaged diversionary listen-through of the epic classic rock radio track Eclipse, the last track on Dark Side of the Moon. Redux follows suit, and thus we conclude the heavy lifting of season two, listening to Dark Side of The Moon Redux for the listener, so the listener doesn't have to. Join our hosts as they meander through Spotify rankings of Pink Floyd versus so many other artists we forget how many are covered. Chaz raves on and on about Live From Daryl's House, the internet show of Daryl Hall, and convinces Wolfie to get hooked in with Daryl and his friends like Smokey Robinson, Sammy Hagar, Allen Stone, Fitz and the Tantrums, Tommy Shaw, Rick Nielson, Kenny Loggins, CeeLo Greene, Darius Rucker, Train, Rob Thomas, Joe Walsh, Howard Jones, Chromeo, KT Tunstall, Ben Folds, Grace Potter, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Toots and the Maytals, Nick Lowe, the Bacon Brothers…and so many more. Wax nostalgic with Chaz about having Kyra Sedgwick walk across his blanket at a Bacon Brothers concert. Ah, the memories. And yes, we get back to listening to the redux version of Eclipse. We wrap up this listen season with comparisons to season one, what Lulu had going for it that Dark Side of the Moon Redux did not. If there had been more coverage, better press, more content, and greater context shared by the artist would it have been better received? If Roger hadn't tried to sing, if he hadn't added poetry and voiceovers, would it still be something you can listen to? The main question persists…why Roger, why? When the hosts start pining for the improvisational stylings of Metallica and Lou Reed, you know it's about time to wrap it up. Rather, the guys draw it out, going further out on a Rocket to Uranus than they ever have before. New heights in digressionary diversion and pointless nonsense, this episode really captures the essence of our final adjudication of Dark Side of the Moon Redux. Hearing Eclipse delivered with a James Hetfield staccato is worth the price of admission alone. We wrap it up with a bow – here's the message: life ain't all dark. That's the big epiphany of this album – that and we've determined that the answer to life, the universe and everything really is 42. Thanks, Roger, here's your towel. Now…what would Daryl do? Roger – listen to Daryl, he is the king of Redux. Find out for yourself – tune in at Live From Daryl's House.

Tonight we start on this date in 1974, when MFSB's "TSOP" topped the charts in the US, mainly on the back of being the intro music to the nationally syndicated "Soul Train" TV show with Don Cornelius. After that, there's a lot to do in the present in the funk and soul worlds, as Pete Rock, The Ironsides, Lonnie Liston Smith, and many other highly worthy artists were out with new singles to upcoming albums. After the clock went gong again, Dan Lloyd once again joined us to highlight what's new and interesting in the world of rock stars and smashed guitars, with highlights from Squid, Better Lovers, and Metallica to keep you sweaty and desperate to the bitter end.#feelthegravityTracklist (st:rt)Part I (00:00)MFSB – Love Is The MessageLady Wray – Joy & Pain (Pete Rock remix)ENNY feat Loyle Carner – Take It SlowAllen Stone – MagicRudy De Anda – June Gloom (Smilin')The Ironsides - OutlinesPart II (36:02)Lonnie Liston Smith w/Jazz Is Dead – DawnWnbl – ContemplationBorn 74 & Onj – Don't Need My ShadowLITE – Endless BlueDragonfruit feat Hudson – Space TravelerRick Wade – The EmperorPart III (66:13)Better Lovers – 30 Under 13Metallica – Too Far GoneSquid – UndergrowthRancid – Tomorrow Never ComesMars Volta – Blank Condolences (Acoustic)Part IV (99:18)Militarie Gun – Very HighJethro Tull – GinnungagapCinema Stare – BadRoyal Thunder – FadeThe Breeders – SaintsDave Hause – Tarnish

Music & sound touches our soul in ways we can and can't explain. Today I'm talking a man who's moved many with the music that he makes, Allen Stone. Allen is a captivating musician and has been making music and touring for over a decade. During our talk, we explore the ego's role in being an entertainer and how to honor that part of ourself, but not let it take over. The ego is a very important part of us, but we work to find the balance of when and where the ego is needed. We may need the ego to give us the courage to step on a stage and feel that we have something to say, or contribute. But with that, we also need to be able to get out of our own ways and let the divine in. One of my favorite stories Allen shares is the saga of the hot boot and how the universe conspired in his favor to help him meet his wife. There is a power that art has on both the creator of the art and the person who consumes the art. Join me as I tip my hat, or man bun, to one of my favorite creators of art. ~Obeisance~ Connect with Allen Stone Website I AllenStone.com Instagram I @AllenStone Spotify I Allen Stone Apple Music I Allen Stone Connect with Adam Riehl Website I AdamRiehlHealing.com Facebook I facebook.com/adamriehlhealing Instagram I @adamriehlhealing Youtube I youtube.com/user/adamriehl/videos Email I adamriehl1@gmail.com Another Podcast by Adam Riehl I Zen and Not Zen Adam Sound Bath Events I AdamRiehlHealing.com/Events Subscribe and Share Anchor Breaker Google Podcasts Apple Podcasts Pocket Casts RadioPublic Spotify --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/adam-riehl7/support

We'll be back at The Café in Artichoke Music next week. Mean ole Mr. Covid laid me up for a few weeks but things are much better now. Nevertheless, I am using an ancient arcane device known as the telephone to talk with this week's guest Steve Swatkins, he of the keyboards and voice box, a composer and bandleader as well as a member of Allen Stone's band. His new album Friends and Other Necessities is just out and it is both very funky and tremendously inspiring. Not religious, but just exactly what we need right now. I realize I said that about Jim Brunberg's new album a couple of weeks ago but that just means we're lucky to have both of them in our world. Steve lives in L.A. now with his fiancé Moorea Masa, who appears on the album. Mr. Swatkins, come here, I want you. That's what Mr. Bell said.

Guitar player & singer/songwriter Trevor Larkin walks us through process of recording his new album "Let Tears Be Diamonds," and reflects on his experience collaborating and touring with Allen Stone, finding new ways to be creative, and more.
We had the pleasure of interviewing WILSN over Zoom video!Australian vocal powerhouse WILSN is thrilled to announce her debut album, Those Days Are Over, out February 3 on Ivy League Records/Universal MusicAustralia (Rolling Blackouts C. F., Hatchie). She also revealed a US headline tour (dates below), following her run with Allen Stone. A fusion of pop, soul, Motown and jazz both classic yet contemporary, WILSN's unbelievable voice & honeyed sound on the record are showcased on single & video debuted today on Under the Radar – “Hurts So Bad” featuring Josh Teskey, lead singer of award-winning Melbourne blues-rock band The Teskey Brothers (even Chris Hemsworth is a fan). Built from a trumpet melody by friend & acclaimed horn player Billy Aukstik (Mark Ronson, Erykah Badu, Sharon Jones, Charles Bradley), the heart-wrenching break-up song is accompanied by a video from Triana Hernandez, where the masterful performers are in full flight. “Right before Covid hit, I toured through Europe and the UK with The Teskey Brothers,” WILSN explains. “I was already a fan before this but seeing their show every night and occasionally getting up to sing with them in their set really solidified my love for the band. Josh is one of my favourite singers in the world and I feel super lucky he's singing with me on my debut record.”Studying at Melbourne, Australia's prestigious Victorian College of the Arts and playing shows there, WILSN – real name Shannon Busch - was soon noticed by international publishing juggernaut Pulse Music Group (Kehlani, Yebba) / Native Tongue (Courtney Barnett, Aldous Harding) - even going on to play the Melbourne Grand Prix. She briefly moved to Nashville to work with GRAMMY-winning writers, which helped hone her craft for this full album. The influence of soul and powerhouse vocal divas loom large over her debut album, Those Days Are Over. Songs like “If You Wanna Love Me,” “Tell Me” and “Hurts So Bad” ooze with the sound, feel and all the emotion of classic soul. Yet while the album is steeped in the sounds of yesterday, WILSN and her partner and producer Stephen Charles (Blessed, Tyne James Organ) took care to balance those classic elements with modern production techniques, leaning on Charles' background in hip hop production to amplify the grooves, dialing up the bottom end and keeping a modern excitement in the mix to make sure the record stood up sonically to contemporary releases. The result is a masterful work, at once timeless and of the now. The album will also be on Apple Music Spatial Audio and vinyl via Vinyl Me Please. We want to hear from you! As broadcast November 10, 2022 with plenty of admiration for the keys. Tonight we begin marking the 20th anniversary of Johnny Griffith's passing. Griffith was the long-time man on the ivory for The Funk Brothers, who were Motown's in-house band, and thus you have the passing of a man whose licks made soul what it was in the golden days. Lots of new soul to explore in our Sampled funk and soul first half tonight, with tunes from The Winston Brothers, The Allergies, Object Heavy, Avantdale Bowling Club, Allen Stone, and so many other worthies. Dan Lloyd joins us once again for our AMPED rock ruckus after that, with highlights from Gina Birch, Narrow Head, and David Knudson, and a tribute to the wonderful Mimi Parker, the drummer and vocalist for Low who succumbed to cancer this week and will be most dearly missed.#feelthegravityTracklist (st:rt)Part I (00:00)Marvin Gaye – I Heard It Through The GrapevineThe Winston Brothers – Free RideThe Allergies – Sometimes I WonderTurtlenecks feat Miss Rachelle Jeanty – Break FreeObject Heavy – For The BetterAdi Oasis – Get it Got it Part II (31:25)The Harlem Gospel Travelers – Do You Know The ManAvantdale Bowling Club – Rent 2 HighThe Green with Allen Stone – Coming Home (remix)Adrian Younge & Ali Shaheed Muhammad – Jax Is BusyGhost Funk Orchestra – PrismFela Kuti – Ariya Part III (63:26)Gina Birch – Wish I Was YouWeird Al Yankovic – Now You KnowNOFX – Punk Rock ClichéCreeper – Ghost BrigadeLow – Just Make It Stop Part IV (96:19)Everclear – Year of the TigerNarrow Head – Moments of ClarityDavid Knudson – No Ways No Means (ft. In this episode, singer-songwriter Brooke Simpson, who just made her Broadway debut in the revival of 1776, shares the impact her culture as an Indigenous woman has had on her creativity. From her early days dressing and dancing for her tribe's “pow wow” ceremonies, she learned “to bleed creativity” into the foundation of who she is today. She has been a finalist for both The Voice and America's Got Talent, and she also represents Nike's N7 campaign for Indigenous youth, supporting their mental health by promoting movement. Brooke sees her style of movement as being on stage singing, and her message in the campaign is “When you hear me, you hear us.” She loves shining her light as an example for other Indigenous people, to see someone who looks like themselves successfully performing. Topics covered in this interview: –Brooke “camouflaging” herself as one of five people of color growing up to fit in, while in school. –The power of her culture and community –from the trauma many moved through that is still “in the bones”–to their strength, resilience, passion and heart that manifests in her life in a different way today. –Her regret at not trying out to be “princess” in her tribe. –When performance anxiety shows up, Brooke remembers that she is a model for the next generation to look up to, so they know there is a space for them to succeed as well. –Representing the Nike N7 campaign and changing the slogan for the song she sings. She got introduced to Nike from Taboo of The Black Eyed Peas, who is also Indigenous. –Getting the part portraying Sir Roger Sherman in the revival of the Broadway musical 1776, which was like moving from “black and white to color, opening a whole new world of possibilities for creative sparkle.” –A poignant moment when she shares the piece of clothing she wears in the musical that belonged to her father, and was created by a cousin at age 12. –The excitement, fun, and power of being part of a racially diverse cast. About Brooke SimpsonSinger-songwriter, actor, creative, dancer and actor From recording her first song at the age of two years old to charting Top 10 in the iTunes and Billboard charts, Brooke Simpson is no stranger to music. Salim Akram is a live sound engineer specializing in mixing monitors. He currently works as the Monitor Engineer for seven-time Grammy Award-winning artist Billie Eilish and eight-time Grammy Award-winning producer and artist Finneas. In 2019, he was featured in FOH Magazine and was a Parnelli nominee for the Monitor Engineer of the Year. After attending Art Institute of New England, Salim began to synthesize his technical skills in engineering with his life-long passion for playing music. He and his closest friends co-founded the band Bad Rabbits, where Salim would go on to not only tour with major artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Steve Aoki, Allen Stone, and Taking Back Sunday – but he would have the opportunity to work with producers Teddy Riley, Michael Elizondo, James Fauntleroy, et. al. in the studio. Bad Rabbits has won numerous Boston Music Awards, including Artist of the Year, perform as guests on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Arsenio Hall, and Craig Ferguson, and perform at huge festivals such as Vans Warped Tour, Reading and Leeds, and SXSW. While Bad Rabbits was writing music and taking an interlude on touring, Salim dove head-first into regular house engineering roles with local venues owned and operated by Bowery/AEG and City Winery, while simultaneously expanding his freelancing repertoire to include contract work for corporate juggernauts such as Dell, Apple, and Google, as well as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Chanel, Puma, Sephora, and the Simmons Leadership Conference. However, when he was asked to build the touring monitor rig for Glassjaw, he realized it was just the catalyst he needed to get back on the road. Salim was introduced to Ms. Eilish in 2018 and continues to work as her Monitor Engineer through today. When he isn't on tour, he resides in Boston, Massachusetts, and enjoys photography, cooking, and traveling.
