She loves to write, dance, sing, and tell stories. Her goal is to aid those in the adoption triad to promote healing and growth within the adoption community and empower readers to share their own stories. Today, Elena shares her adoption story, what she learned from writing Through Adopted Eyes, a collection of adoptee memoires, and the children's book Adoption is Both. Matthew is the host of little did u know, a podcast that centers the lived experiences—the learned and inherited wisdom—of transracial adoptees. He is also a poet, and his debut poetry collection, You Can Not Burn The Sun (2020), is sold out, and he is currently working on book 2. We discuss Kristin's book, Keep the Doors Open: Lessons Learned from a Year of Foster Parenting. Kristin is a strong advocate for family reunification and providing necessary resources to help parents reunite with their children. She also recognizes and details how these supports need to be provided before crisis occurs. Finally, Kristin shares a disturbing situation her family experienced with law enforcement, and the significant gap in the legal system's understanding of mental illness. Kristin and her husband Mike live in central Indiana with their 6 youngest children and nearby her older daughters and 4 grandchildren. She loves reading, writing, and snuggling her pet donkey Meg.

Kelly speaks with Isaac Etter, an activist and social entrepreneur. Isaac was transracially adopted at the age of two. He recently founded Identity a startup focused on providing accessible, diverse, and ethical adoption and foster care education. Isaac also co-founded an education and advocacy organization, SafeHouse Lancaster, where he was the co-executive director. SafeHouse Lancaster merged with YWCA Lancaster in July of 2021 and Isaac went to found Identity. Isaac also serves on the board of directors for The Keystone Business Alliance and CHI St Joseph Children's Health. They are also a frequent speaker in many different settings, including colleges, adoption agencies, and conferences. Isaac has used his story of being adopted and growing up in a white world to curate deep conversations about race in America. With his unique insight on racial tensions between the white and black communities, they have been able to curate impactful conversations where everyone learns to value each other and their experience, while learning about systemic racism, privilege and their role in it.

Kelly talks with Melody Winderweedle about women serving as pastors, Melody's role as Co-Pastor of a beautiful community in Chattanooga, TN, and deconstructing faith. So many people struggle with accepting their God-given talents and gifts, and are fearful to live in the space we were created to reside in. Melody and I talk about this struggle and moving forward to accept who God created us to be and thrive in the space we reside. We also talk about deconstructing faith. Many are in the process of deconstructing theology and beliefs about God, seeking to discern if these beliefs are true, right, and actually align with scripture. Melody encourages her church community to embrace the questions and walk through this process. She also offers advice to church leaders pastoring those currently going through a time of deconstruction. Melody Winderweedle is the Co-Lead Pastor of Ekklesia Vineyard with her husband Bud.
